The desert winds ripped across the worn lands bringing in the warm winds of the south, stronger this time of year that rest they often could kick up dust storms that would rage through the area. Mesas broke through the salt incrusted earth, towering over the landscape they were the only object that stood out for miles around. With the sun low on the horizon the sky was lit up with a red tint that seemed that would be almost unnatural if it had been anywhere else on the earth. Though not late enough in the day for the stars to shine through it wouldn’t be too much longer but they would again to appear in the darkening skies above. Off on a nearby plateau pillars of steam and black smoke drifted off from its flat surface, even from a distance one would be able to see what resembled people begin blow to bits from balls of light.
Upon closer revel the people turned out to be stacks of rocks that sat stack on top one another, lined up across the top of the plateau at different distances away from each other. Rocks were scattered across the field as they were coated in a blackened ash, some still even seemed to smoke as whatever heat source had just left them. Another ball of light rocketed across the field as it ripped into another one of the standing targets, the heated energy slamming into the rock statue bursting it into thousands of pieces as the particles of rocks went flying everywhere. Standing a few hundred feet away Anri stood there with his hand raised out in front of his taking in a few deep breath after have launching such an attack. His Fission blast, Anri’s one and only energy based attack though he lacked a large arsenal when it came to ranged attacks he too great pride in the one that he did have, it was his crown jewel, when all else would fail the burning ball of heat would cause his victims too fall before him. Deadly and fast it made for a dangerous attack against a person, even glancing blows could be fatal given the right conditions. The thing that made it most special to him though that his people were the only ones that could master such a technique, it required two things in order for such an attack to be learned and mastered. The first was a great understanding of the elements, atoms, and the particles that make up the atoms themselves, such a thing would take years of study to fully understand; which is why learning it was so difficult in the first place. The second thing needed was to have Vennor anatomy, their body structure allowed for them to call upon their own body heat to use such an attack, unless said race was similar in structure the attack would never allow them to master it.
Such a technique was something that was common to this people though not everyone had the natural born ability to use it. The gene that carried such a technique was passed down through generations of Vennor over the years, each time becoming stronger through the blood lines. Roughly twenty five percent of all Vennor's born were granted such a ability from birth, which could sometimes lead to issues during birth. Have you ever tried to deliver a child while being shot with a flamethrower? It made birthing complicated but not impossible, though born with the ability such a power with a new born was often difficult to control and weak.
Taking another breath he extended his arm out in front of him as particles ripped from the air surrounding his wrist, the sound of the act sounded like the crackling of corn as it was roaster over a fire. Forming the ball of light in his hand he thrusted his hand forward letting the energy take off on its own as it soared over the dusty plateau. All throughout the day he had been trying to better control his attack, even as strong as it was he often found that if given enough distance it would become ineffective at such a range, it was bright enough to allow anyone to see it coming from quite away. Which was the reason he had been out here all week working to better master his technique, there was always more one could do in order to better prefect such a move. The trick wasn’t to always make an attack stronger but to make sure it would hit ones target, otherwise it would be a waste of his Ki, and in combat one would need all the power the could muster; a failed attack could be the difference between living and dying.
Even from when he launched the attack the orb had gone way off course from the intended rock column, which is what he had indeed of course. The plan was not to hit his targets directly but instead warp his attack to change directions, such an action was proving to be more difficult than he had first thought though. As hard as he tried the flaming orb kept sailing off towards the skyline until he could no longer see its shimmering light, either it drained all of its power or it had gone belong the horizon. He felt bad for anyone that would be unfortunate enough to meet his attack head on it I was still active, even as the attack weakened over the great distance it would still pack a rather heavy punch to whoever would touch it.
Letting his arms drop back to his side he sighed, he had been at this for quite a while, his arms were heavy and cold. Whereas other races would grow hot when exhausted, Vennor’s body temperatures would drop below normal, making them want to rest rather than continue to do whatever they were doing. Dropping to the drop with a rather large crash the ground shock around him as little pebbles of rock jumped around him, cracking the rock under him slightly he stretched his legs out before him. Though he had been working on the new move for the last week he felt as though he hadn’t made much progress with it, he knew the basic ideas behind doing such a thing but for some reason he couldn’t pull it off. It involved controlling his attack with his own Ki and changing its direction with his body movements, that usually being ones arms and hands. He was sure he could also use his mind to do such a thing but he need to learn the basics before moving off too more difficult things such as mind controlled energy attacks.
Reaching his hands down to the stones around him he picked up a few of the small rocks as he rolled them over in his hands, feeling their rough exteriors rub against his skin. Tossing the rock he held in his hands he watched the small rock fly quickly away from him until gravity took ahold of it sending it crashing down into the earth below. This was something Anri often did whenever he was taking a break or just trying to think, it often helped him to take his mind off other things, though he usually didn’t have much to worry about. The only other thing on his mind was working for Kemuri, that crazy dog man even though he had been working for the man for a few days he wasn’t really sure what he was up too. All Anri really knew was that there was a group of people that opposed the man and during so point in the near future they were going to strike back at him; it was Anri’s job to defend his new boss. Though he liked to think of himself as a strong fighter he really had no other idea of what he might be going up against, with only but a small taste of what earth had to offer he could really be going up against anything at this point. Dog men, magical transforming women, hobo’s he had seen a strange mixture of people and he wasn’t really sure what to make of them. Some of them were impressive in their powers while others he laughed at under his breath as their strength was pitiful compared to his own; he never forgot his place though. No matter how strong he thought he was there was always going to be someone out there that was stronger than him, that was just something he had to learn when he made his way out into the vale. None the less of what though he never chose to give up, one day he would find the one stronger than him and fight them; though he would probably lose he didn’t care, every failure made him a stronger person.
Not wanting his muscles to relax allowing them to get stiff he decided he had sat down for long enough, using his Ki he floated back on to his feet landing with a shuffle of the rocks below him. Pulling his arms behind his back he popped the joints all the way down his arms, sighing with satisfaction he twirled his arms in circles trying to get heat to flow back into his limbs. His normal body temperature was around 105 while a normal humans was around 98, so by comparison his 100 temperature skin would be warm but to him it was rather cool. After swinging his arms around he felt slightly better than he did before, cracking his neck his neck he took up his fighting stance; it would have been easier to perform such a new technique in a relaxed stance but he would have that luxury in the middle of a fight. Taking in a deep breath of air he began to take particles from the air around him, the small pieces of material snapped to him hands like magnets as they orbited around his hands. Growing brighter and hotter with each passing second the particles began to race around his hand spinning faster and faster with each orbit.
Flinging his arm out in front of him he let the burning ball of Ki race out in front of him, again his direct target was not the rock pillar but instead to move the attack to hit its target. Watching the orb zoom away from him he began to envision it turning it to hit the pillar, infusing his hands with Ki aimed it at the ball trying with all his muster to pull at the attack. The task seemed impossible for one to accomplish, had it not been for the fact that he had seen someone do it before then he would have given up on such an idea. Taking all the strength he had in his body he twisted his arms just as everything seemed to click on him, as he watched as the soaring ball seemed to turn in its trajectory. The whole event seemed to go in slow motion as if he could see the string of Ki that connect him to the ball of heat, though separated the two seemed to beat as one as the ball of energy seemed to flicker along with his own heartbeat.
A smile spread across his face as the result he had been hopping for through the last week lay before him, all the time, sweat, and blood he had poured out now paid off to Anri. Not wanting to get too caught up in the moment he still wanted to actually hit his target, before the energy that he used to control it ran out. Twisting his wrist he commanded the orb to turn to the left in order to slam into the nearest target; almost in a seamless preform his attack turned immediately to the left at neck breaking speeds crashing into the stone pillar with a mighty explosion. Chucks of rock burst through the cloud if black smoke that erupted from where the stone pillar had once stood, crashing back towards they ground the pieces of debri shattered upon hitting the mesa.
Chucking at the result he placed his hand on his sides as he watched the burning bits of rock come falling back towards the ground, it almost looked as if a meteor shower was happening right before him. He loved watching his hard work play off before him it was very satisfying and relaxing too watch all his hard work pay off before him. As the smoke cleared from the explosion he got a better look at what his attack had done, though not any different that his normal Fission blast it performed the same result which he wasn’t shocked about. Smacking his hands of he cleared the dust from them as he readied himself for another shot, his body was almost drained all of Ki but seeing that his last attack had done what he wanted it too, massive amounts of adrenaline was pumping through his veins. At this point he couldn’t even feel the wear and tear that had been done to his body his happiness more than covered such pain over.
Charging another attack up, the particles ripped from the air around him as once again they encircled his wrist. It was always the same charge up process, but this time something felt off to Anri, he thought it might have been that he was running to his limit but he shrugged the feeling off; it wasn’t the first time he had done such an attack with so little Ki let in his body. Putting his focus back onto his fully charged energy attack he launched the heated orb from his hands but as he did so he felt a sudden shock of cold shoot down his hand. The shooting icy pain ran down the length of his arm coming to the tips of his fingers as he watched the orb he held in his hands turn many shades until it stop once it hit a dark shade of blue. Gasping in pain he clinched his arm with his other hand, as he looked over his arm. With his plated skin in the way he couldn’t tell if anything was wrong with him but as the pain slowly died away he figured that he was alright, but was still very confused at what had caused such a pain in him.
Finally he took notice of the shinning blue orb he held in his hand, whereas before there was a fire ball, there was a now a ball that was completely made of ice, or so it seemed to be. Reaching forward with his other hand he tried to touch the surface of the sphere but found that rather than feeling its surface his hand fell through its transparent surface. It was cool to the touch almost as he was hold a very large ice cube, one of which that had no mass too it as it seemed to have no weight too it what so ever. The sudden change of his Ki was something that he had never expect before, he had never seen such a thing but now that he had he knew that other could do it as well. The real question that now hung over his head was what such a thing could do, if the new found power was similar to his Fission blast then he was going to have a killing using it.
Rearing his arm back he lurched it forward sending the chilled energy attack blowing through the air as a crystallized trail of energy raced behind it, almost looking as if particles of icy were being blow from it. Racing forward at about the same speed as his Fission blast, it struck the nearest target in a explosive shower of icy. Though not nearly as dramatic as his Fission blast it did a rather great job at freezing the struck stone pillars, as a thick layer of ice now covered the stack rocks. Small snowflakes rain down from the sky, though the quickly melted as the hot desert winds picked at them, even the air surround him seemed to drop slightly.
*Mod added for Fission blast- Ability to change direction of attack in mid flight*
*New technique- Kelvin’s blast- A chilled icy attack that is similar to Anri’s Fission blast, but instead of reaching high temperature the attack is -273.15 C or absolute zero. Such cold temperature make it so that most objects it strike are imminently frozen upon contact.
