Bubbles filled the prince’s vision as he was roused from his restful slumber within the healing tank. His own sigh added further bubbles as he released it, resentful and thankful all at once for the respite. He was done with the galactic tournament, and though he was one of the strongest combatants, he had been bested. It was a bitter pill to swallow, his ego ensuring that he was going to be the one to come out victorious. And yet hadn’t he? He had dealt with more punishment, and gave out more punishment, than anyone else in the tournament, nearly being killed, not just beaten, in all of his three matches. He was proud of that. All the onlookers now knew that he was worthy of being called the prince of the Saiyans, at least in terms of strength, fighting prowess and resiliency.
There was something bothering him though. Someone he needed to talk to. It was an odd feeling, for he didn’t fancy talking to this particular person often, and yet he felt something tugging at him. They hadn’t spoken since their match in the first round of the tournament… there had been much said, and much done to each other. They had nearly killed each other, and truth be told he felt remorse for some of the things he had said… would he tell her that though? He bit his lip underneath the breathing apparatus on his face.
The tank opened with a hiss and the naked prince stepped out, an attendant sprang to action to cover him with a white towel. The prince winked, causing the woman to blush and turn away. He was a different person than in the start of the tournament that much was true; he had been through too much to have it be any other way, and yet his ego remained. He walked over to his armor and placed a hand on it. No, there would be no need for armor in this conversation. He chose simple garbs, a t-shirt and loose fitting combat pants. He laced up his boots and wiped his brow. He was anxious to see her. Would see show hatred towards him? It had never bothered him before, but… his hand traced up his body to where the scar from Zeke’s sword was. Things had changed hadn’t they?
A bitter fire had turned to embers, and he found he could not honestly say he hated her anymore. Did he like her? No… that was a far way off. And did he accept her as a member of his family? The question was hard to answer for the prince. He drove it from his mind for the moment, lest it rehash wounds only so recently closed.
He made his way out the door and through the halls, one question on his mind. Where was Akassa Hattori? They needed to talk.

The Princess of New Vegeta was coincidentally on her way to find her brother. The two oldest children of the Saiyan King had not spoken since Ninjin’s shin had slammed into the side of her face. The brutal kick had broken bones, knocked her unconscious and won him the fight. Her initial reaction had been anger, the same anger that she had felt during their match. After her initial outburst and the partial destruction of the healing chamber she had been in the Princess had calmed, at least in terms of the anger she had directed at her brother. The anger that remained was directed at herself, at her own failure to prove herself to him and the rest of her family. He had thought so lowly of her before…would even look at her now?
Through the next two rounds she had watched him. Standing high atop the stadium, out of his sight Akassa had silently cheered him on. He had beaten her, defeated her and yet she could not allow herself to hate him for denying her the dream she had come to Alpha Prime with. When that blade had driven down through his shoulder and out his leg the female had almost launched from the platform to race to his side. The strong surge of emotion had surprised her and ultimately been brought under control for the attack had not proved fatal and rushing to his side would have hurt his pride and the reputation of their family. Even impaled by a blade Ninjin had won the round, his opponent throwing in the towel after having proven his point. So consumed by emotion she had rushed down to find Ezekiel, her friend, and berated him for disrespecting her brother in such a way. The two had almost brawled over the outcome of the round, but again she had been able to check her emotions.
His next fight had been watched with just as much interest, but sadly she was not able to watch it all for she had promised to assist Conri Lane and in turn do a service to her family. By the time the business was done Ninjin had already lost, the idea of him being defeated hard for her to swallow at first. Even as she finished with Conri her mind had been on her brother, wanting to speak with him for the first time in almost three days. Leaving her fellow half-saiyan Akassa had made her way to the medical bay.
On Alpha Prime she held no rank beyond that of tournament participant so all of the regular channels applied to her and that meant restrictions as well. After talking with the staff she had been instructed to come back in several hours when the Prince’s healing would be complete. Having waiting patiently the Princess was now back, again asking to see her brother. Hearing the doors slide upon, something they rarely did unless someone was exiting them, she turns to see her brother walking out.
For a moment she pauses, thinking it to be another for a moment. Ninjin was not dressed in his armor, which he almost always wore, but much more casual clothing…closer to her own. Seeing him she turns away from the receptionist and heads over to him, her face as calm and controlled as ever. Throughout the years she had learned to keep her face mostly devoid of emotion often, the constant harassment from her brother and mother simply part of her life. It helped to have a strong poker face. Since he had seen her last she had replaced her jacket and now wore a scouter, the device partially hidden under her red bangs.
During their fight many things had been said, none of them what one would expect to be the words that passed between a brother and his sister. There had been anger, hatred and resentment, but not now. Ninjin had proved himself the stronger warrior and if there was one thing Akassa respected it was strength. His arrogance was too much at times, but the strength he had shown in their fight had earned him more of her respect. She had given him everything she possibly could, forced herself to push past her limits in an attempt to defeat him and had failed. Ninjin Hattori was her brother, her superior and her Prince…he deserved her respect.
Stopping several feet from him she brings her fist up to her chest in salute and drops to one knee, inclining her head for a moment. ”Brother.” Having paid her respects she rises back to her feet to meet his eyes once more, having to look up slightly to do so.
”I was shocked to hear of your defeat, but it is pleasing to see you back on your feet and looking so well. Nothing keeps a Hattori down for long.” There was no sarcasm in her voice, and no venom, nothing like the last time they had spoken to each other. Her calm brown eyes meet his as her arm drops from her chest to her side, the Princess taking a somewhat relaxed stance. In recent years the tone she always used with him had been casual and almost lacking in respect. Now it was full of it, much closer to the way she addressed their father.

Ninjin was shocked to have found his sister so quickly. He had stepped out of the doorway intent on looking for her and there she was. It was as if she was looking for him as well. He was surprised to find himself thinking that it was good to see her. Even further he found himself thinking that it was nice to see her without her being covered in blood like the last time. The image brought back memories of the fight between the two. It surprised him even further to find that the thought actually slightly pained him.
She was walking over to him with a set look on her face. Akassa was never one to show much emotion on her face, she would be perfect for that earth game… what was it? Oh yes, Poker. He himself had a poor poker face, his visage one free to show his emotions. He smiled when he saw her, but reigned it back into his usual smug look. Her face looked little different, but then again it had only been weeks rather than years since they had seen each other, though that was the way it felt. He noticed the scanner behind her red hair. The red hair…
He smiled again. It fit her, the look having grown on him since the initial hair dying. He of course would never say that, and would back his father were he to demand that she remove it, he had appearances to keep up.
She stopped a few feet in front of him, and surprisingly issued a bow. It had none of her usual resilience to bow to him, but seemingly gave off an air of reverence similar to that which she showed their father. It took him aback, but he found himself rather liking the experience. She rose and met his eyes head on, and for once in a very very long time he found himself not so disgusted with it.
“You know it’s only been a few days, but I feel like it’s been years since I’ve received a proper bow. And yes thank you sister it feels good to be back on my feet again. No one was more shocked than I at my defeat, but that Mouse had potential. I may reach out and see if he’d like to join the Saiyan elite. Nothing keeps a Hattori down for long indeed, its good to see you up and about as well… ” He hesistated before saying the next bit, but chuckled and proceeded anyway
“It is a travesty that you were eliminated first round, and I wish we had had different opponents. I would have loved to see what two Hattori’s in the prelims could have done. You were the best opponent I faced out there. Even though Zeke and Conri did both defeat me.” He looked into her eyes and said it with respect. It would no doubt shock his sister, as it shocked he himself was to say it.
“Walk with me?” He indicated down the hallway. Where they were going he didn’t know he just felt it would be a good idea for them to walk and talk. He had been through so much since he had last seen her, and it felt like it had been years. All his hateful words that he had said to her came rushing back. He felt he should apologize, but didn’t know where to even start. The things had been said, and unfortunately there was no taking them back. But that was the old Ninjin, wasn’t it? but was that part of him really gone? Looking at her still brought turmoil to his mind. He respected her. He even accepted her as what she was, his genetic sister. He even granted her in his mind the use of the name Hattori. But did he like her? Did he love her? Those questions hadn’t been answered yet.
The punting shin to the side of her head came back to mind. He had done everything it had taken to defeat her. He had pushed himself beyond his breaking point; he had nearly died just to prove himself the better, when she very nearly had done just that. If it hadn’t been for his trickery, she would have. It made her the stronger fighter, if not the better one. She deserved his respect. It came across in his voice if nothing else, his tone much more of that to an equal than before, one he saved mainly for his father.

Her brother seemed pleased with her show off respect even if for a moment he appeared caught off guard by it. In the past she had not bowed to him in such away, but it was something he was going to be seeing much more often. Akassa had always done her duty to her family and respected it above all else even if she did not always get along with Ninjin and Natisha. Having thought about it the Princess had realized her negative attitude towards her brother and step mother was in itself disrespectful to the family as a whole. If she was to truly label herself loyal then she needed to be loyal and respectful to all of her family members…well at least Ninjin.
Hearing his words about contacting Conri for possibly military use she decides to keep her mouth shut on the matter. Her limited interactions with the half-saiyan had given her mixed feelings about him. In one hand he was a powerful warrior, strong enough to defeat Ninjin, but in the other hand he was a bit sporadic. On more than one occasion he had let his emotions get the better of him and spoken rather brashly. Akassa would continue her contact with him for now and if Ninjin went ahead with trying to recruit him she planned to fill her brother in should the input seem relevant.
After his slight pause his next words shock her, the usual reserved female’s head cocking to the side slightly as he compliments her. The best fighter out there? Well she had been able to defeat Conri before and later this very night she was going to test herself against Ezekiel again. Still a very small smile is visible on her lips for a moment or so before they flatten back out to their neutral position.
”Thank you Ninjin, I too wish I had made it farther in the tournament, but it seems it was not meant to be. My biggest regret is that a Hattori will not be crowned champion, I do not think father will be pleased.” It was a bit of a lie for she also regretted that she was not going to be awarded with a set of her own armor, but there was nothing that could be done about that now. Still she had honestly hoped Ninjin or Leke would go on to win the whole thing, better a Hattori than anyone else.
As he motions to walk down the hall she nods before turning to walk with him. As the two siblings made their way down the long hall she kept her expression as neutral as ever, but internally she was glad he wanted to talk. On her way she had not been sure how he would receive her or if he would even talk to her having so recently been eliminated. On top of that he seemed almost glad to see her…something she had not seen in him for years. Akassa doubted that the two of them were about to become best friends like when they were young for they had grown apart for years. Still it was a nice to have a chance to talk with him, even if it was a fleeting moment.
”Is there something you wanted to discuss Brother? Just last night I finished scanning over the reports coming from home if you wish to be updated on the most recent military exercises.” Her tone was formal and polite, as it always was for she wasn’t exactly sure what he wanted to talk about. When dealing with her brother the Princess had always striven to keep things as formal as possible between them for he did technically outrank her in terms of the military. On top of that they spent little time together besides family or military based activities so she really wasn’t sure what else to talk about. Looking to him she awaits his response.

Ninjin caught the slight smile on his sister’s lips as he complimented her, something he hadn’t really ever done. It made him glad. Gave him hope that perhaps… perhaps what? It wasn’t as if they were going to start being best-friends. He wasn’t even sure where she stood with him, or he with her. And yet the same was heartening. As quickly as it came it vanished once more.
“Hope is not lost altogether yet. No, our last hope remains with Truffle, should he win we can still call it a Hattori victory, if not by blood.” He said it both out of truth and to tease her. He still considered the big blue creature a part of his family, even if he had only just accepted Akassa back into that particular category. Though there was no harshness or meanness intoned within his voice, he knew the slight rib would still have a reaction to his sister.
They began walking down the hallway together. It felt comfortable, but at the same time awkward. The things they had said between them… the atrocities that had been ushered forth from both their mouths, out of anger, out of hate. There was no taking it back. Ninjin too had worried what their father would think, but they had all three of them grown so very much even by simply being in the tournament. She brought up military exercises and he recalled for the first time in many days that he was high general of the Saiyan army. It almost seemed like he had left that life behind back on the moon. A slight pang of homesickness stabbed at his heart. He nodded.
“That wasn’t what I had intended to speak about but I should be informed of the military’s recently activities. But that can wait. I wanted to speak of our fight, and the subsequent fights I had taken part in. They…” He didn’t know where to begin, but one never does when faced with a conversation of this magnitude.
“They’ve changed me. It would be hard for me to be the same person I was at the beginning of the tournament after everything I’ve been through. I was humbled greatly twice.” He pulled his shirt to the side, showing her the two inch scar that marked just above his collarbone. It wasn’t as angry and red as it had once been, but the deep scar was an indicator that the prince was not as infallible as he had once thought he had been “Zeke Necross could have very easily killed me with this blow.”
They continued walking, the prince trying to find the words to say. He was not going to apologize. There had been too much said for that, and he had definitely meant the words when he had said them, and yet here he was standing next to her, a different man. “What about you? It’s been a few weeks since the beginning of the tournament. What have you been doing to occupy yourself on Omega? There is no shortage of things to do here it would seem. Truthfully I feel a bit uncomfortable here.” He was greatful for a chance to drive the conversation away from his previous actions.

As her brother mentions Truffle the Princess realizes she had almost completely forgotten about the blue alien. Akassa was not closed to Ninjin which in turn meant she was not close to his pet. She held nothing against the fluffy creature, but had just never spent much time with him. Even so she was aware that the alien was not a complete push over for he had made it farther in the tournament then any of the Hattori children. Snorting a little she was only able to shake her head at the realization that even the house pet had done better than her.
”Perhaps, it seems those that serve under us have out lasted us. Celeh was eliminated in the same round as you, but she made it two rounds farther than I did. When we return to New Vegeta father might just reassign me to guard her.” She wasn’t serious about that last bit for the thought of her guarding anyone outside of the royal family was ridiculous. Akassa knew her bodyguard was no push over, but the Princess herself had defeated her in combat so she knew that she was the stronger of the two. Still…the girl had made it farther than her, but she supposed that could be chalked up to weaker opponents.
Continuing along with him it was a surprise to hear that his interest in talking with her was not military based. The fact it was about their match and those that followed was even more of a surprise for she had never known Ninjin to speak of a fight he had lost, not unless it was about how easily he would defeat the one responsible the next time they met. As for his two fights she was almost certain they saw his fight with Ezekiel in the same light. It had officially been a win, but for any Saiyan such a “win” was never something they could truly count as a victory. As much as she didn’t want it the Princess was sure that her brother and Ezekiel would someday fight each other again.
As he explains this change that he felt had overcome him, sharing his scar in the process Akassa remains silent. There was not a time in her recent memory in which she recalled Ninjin sharing such thoughts with her, and she felt that interrupting him might prevent some of his thoughts from coming out. Nor did she wish to share her interaction with Ezekiel right after his fight and the way she had screamed at him. Akassa had never been good with the more human side of her emotions so she tended to keep them hidden. It had worked for her up until now so there was no reason to do anything differently.
His sudden inquiry into what she had been doing for the past couple of days was a welcomed change of topic for her even if she wasn’t used to being asked such questions, especially by him. This was the longest non military related conversation they had in years and Ezekiel NeCross was not the best topic considering the feelings she had developed for him and the fact Ninjin had quite recently been impaled on his blade.
”I have kept myself busy, although like you I do not feel comfortable here. This place is…lacking to put it kindly compared to our home. I will admit I have been far from bored though for I have met quite a number of unique individuals here. You might be surprised at how many things I have been pulled into that had nothing to do with me. Still as a representative of the Hattori family I could not simply sit by and observe for as you know people expect much of us.” Akassa pauses a moment as she realizes she is being a bit too talkative, offering small smile of apology to her bother before continuing. ”In the end I will be glad to return home when this is done.”
Swallowing slightly she closes her mouth as they turn the corner into another hall. It felt so strange to talk to him in such a casual manor, almost as if she shouldn’t be doing it. It wasn’t that she didn’t enjoy talking with him like this she did…she just wasn’t used to it. Like when Ezekiel had said he liked the red in her hair and that it looked good on her she had not been sure how to react. As confident and sure of herself as she was in the field or around soldiers Akassa was not usually comfortable in such casual conversations, her lack of real experience with them the main culprit.

A joke? Did his sister really just make a joke about having to guard Celeh instead of vice-versa? The shear act of it stopped Ninjin dead in his tracks, and he let out a deep laugh. His sister was not known to make jokes, ever the one for seriousness and formality. He stopped laughing and looked at her, as if seeing her in a different light. He continued walking when she did, surprised to find himself enjoying the conversation.
”Stay here Truffle, I have to go teach this Mutt a lesson” [/i] The words he had said to his blue alien companion upon leaving for his match with Akassa. The words taunted him, as if said by someone else a million lifetimes ago. But then again looking at her… didn’t he find that red hair appalling? Didn’t he see her as a scar on their family? He shook the thoughts away, gripping the bridge of his nose as if to stop the bleeding of memories into his mind. That wasn’t him. Not anymore. That Ninjin had died by the sword against Zeke… hadn’t he?
She began speaking about what had occupied her time here on Omega. She too felt ill at ease here on Omega, speaking to much of the same doubts Ninjin was feeling. It wasn’t home here. Many of the amenities they had grown accostumed to were not met here, and the respect he had felt at home ill prepared him to the harshness of a world where no one gave a damn whose son you were or what you were in line for. Strength was all that mattered here. Strength and the ability to stay alive. Ninjin had both in spades, but the competition was fierce. It was much easier to get by on your name than your ability to defend yourself from those trying to do you harm.
“I too will be happy when I can return home sister. Omega… it is no New Vegeta. Though I must say not having the Earth in constant hovering has been rather nice for a change.”
They exited out into a courtyard garden, covered with lush greens and blues. Despite his thoughts of the place overall, The Omega Collective did have some nice areas. Whomever ran it did their best to ensure the happiness of those that had the money and will to stay there it seemed. The prince stretched his hand out to run his fingers over a large leaf, nearly four feet long and just as wide.
You, so low… A Half-Saiyan getting the better of me? It’s inexcusable… Especially me, so clearly your superior. But fear? No you don’t deserve my fear.” [/i] The words bit into him same as before, taunting him, as if whispered in his ear by his former self. He felt a sudden anger upon looking at Akassa that he had to turn away for fear she would see it on his face. This wasn’t him. He was trying damn it! He crushed the end of the leaf in his hand and turned back to her a smile on his face. He was in control, not his past feelings. He was new. He was better than that.
“Any word from brother? He seems to have enjoyed his time in the tournament, but I haven’t seen him since our little late-night fight in the coliseum. I was wondering if perhaps you had.” He would not let the feelings he once felt color him so, though he had to admit it was hard to look at her and not feel some semblance of what he once had. But there too was the ability for change, to overcome those feelings and treat her like he should. She had earned his respect. She had earned a chance for change.
“every drop of blood that I spill on this arena floor is worth double that of yours… You’re not a Hattori, you’re a mutt that plays at being one. If you knew what was good for you you’d lay down and die right here, avoid embarrassing my family any further.” The words came back to him like a slap across the face. It was the meanest thing he had said to her throughout their vicious brawl. He turned again, biting into his lip so ferociously that the taste of blood filled his mouth. He spat it into the garden when Akassa had her view away momentarily, praying she hadn’t seen it. How would he explain his behavior. How would he explain the duel nature of what he was feeling? His guilt and his anger pooled together. He owed her at least a chance. But his thoughts… were they too poisoned already for this? No. NO!!! He refused to accept that.
“And for that matter mother and father. I had heard word that they themselves were on Omega, but have heard nothing of the matter since. I was wondering if you’ve gotten in contact with them at all, or if they’re perhaps avoiding us out of shame.” It was half meant as a joke, half a probing question of concern. In the back of his mind he truly did wonder if perhaps his father was furiously disappointed in him. In them both. None of the Hattori children had brought home the victory they had promised.

Hearing him laugh was the last thing she expected for Akassa had not meant the statement to be a joke. Humor was often lost on the over serious Princess for she tended to be rather goal driven in most aspects of her life. Even with Ezekiel, who she had opened up to ever so slightly, she was always focused on the next thing, always preparing herself for what was to come. Perhaps it was her military upbringing that made her so serious or the fact she felt she was always trying to prove herself and there was no time for fooling around. Regardless, his laugh almost made her smile some, and for a moment she felt closer to him.
His comment about Earth causes her to glance over at him, the half-saiyan understanding his disdain for the planet. It wasn’t the humans that she disliked, not that she loved them, but the planet mocked her and her family. The Saiyan race had once had a home, one more marvelous and spectacular than the orb the Human race called their own. It was lost too them and as gracious as the people of Earth had been with giving them the Moon it was still just that, a moon. Part of her wanted to rally soldiers and take the Earth for herself, but it was a selfish thought and one that she knew was wrong. On top of it all she would never hurt innocent civilians, no matter their race. Saiyans were superior to all others, that much was true, but that did not make their lives worthless.
”I can agree that it is not the most pleasant view, but I am confident in time we will have a planet to call home.”
Stepping out into the garden with him she inhales a little, taking in the different scents of the collection of fauna around them. Taking in the surprising beauty of the garden she does not see his small struggle with his internal self, nor the crushing of the leafs tip. By the time she looks back to him he had a smile back on his face and asks her about their younger brother Leke.
Pausing for a moment she realizes that she had not seen him since their arrival, the Princess just having been so busy since landing on the station. Thinking about it now she felt a small spike of worry go through her, wondering if something might have actually happened to him. He was a Hattori, but he was a young Hattori and quite headstrong at times so he often charged into situations before thinking them over. Snorting softly she pushes the thoughts aside, he needed to learn to take care of himself at some point.
”No, I haven’t seen him since his last match. I am sure he is brawling in an alley somewhere, he best stay out of trouble.”
Stepping away from him she moves ahead to look at a strange flower in front of them. The plant only had several blossoms, but each was about the size of her head. Leaning in she looks the intricate flower over. The outer edges of it were a bright orange, but the inner layers were a clean white, the transition between the color sudden and drastic. Looking down at the sign she reads the name “Dragon Lily” a fitting name in her opinion considering its size. Reaching out she touches the edge of a petal surprised to feel how soft it was, almost velvet like. With her attention on the flower she hears him spit, but does not see it.
As he asks about their parents she lets out a loud exhale, the sound meant to convey that she had no idea what they would think. All three of them had promised to win the tournament and although that was impossible from the start none of them were going to win it now, the worst possible outcome.
”All three of us have been eliminated, a poor showing by the Hattori family. I myself plan to ask for Fathers forgiveness when we return. Having not upheld the promise I made to him I hope he is able to look past my failure and give me another chance. I will understand if he does not.”
Akassa expected no sympathy from Ninjin or anyone else. It had been her time to prove her herself and she had failed. Her words included Ninjin and Leke in the same group as her, but no offense was meant. The Princess was often straight forward and honest, calling things as she saw them and she saw this tournament as a failure for their family...well at least the children of the Hattori family.

Confident we would have a planet to call home? Her words from before had caught him a bit off guard for in truth he had never thought of a Saiyan home world other than New Vegeta. But why shouldn’t they have a home world? They had regained a bit of the strong numbers they once had and in his experience in the tournament with two “Saiyans” he had been shown that the Saiyan race was strong. Strong enough to have their own planet. A glint would appear in his eye. Did Tsuyo, his father and the king of the Saiyans have the drive to take the Saiyans to a new home world? No… His father was not the one for that. Not the king for that. The King to do that would be Ninjin Hattori.
His name would go down in history, he would be immortal among the Saiyans, revered as not just a king but a god! He would be the god that bestowed upon them their home world and strengthened the race to new levels. The prince shook his head and remembered where he was. Talking with Akassa. It was certainly not the time for his thoughts to go down such pathways. Oh it would be true. Ninjin would be the King to gift his people a world, but it was not something to talk about his sister with, especially…
Especially why? They were not mortal enemies anymore. They were not rivals; all their differences were put aside now weren’t they? They had beaten their hatred and anger and frustration out of themselves in the fight, at least that’s what it appeared to be. But there was still something nagging at him quite strongly, the memories of their past still fighting to be at the forefront of his thoughts. She was not his equal, she did not deserve to hear of his plans of world domination for the Saiyan race. He shook the thought from his mind. He would tell her when he was king, and she would be proud of him.
Her words on their brother made him smile. Yes, young Leke was likely to be out in some alley brawling. The scrappy young Saiyan was always one for finding his way into trouble, and more often than not that led to back-alley brawls. The Saiyan prince had even heard rumors that his brother had cause fatalities in these brawls. He too hoped his brother would just be staying out of trouble. The last he had seen of Leke was their late night brawl.
It had indeed been a poor showing by the Hattori family, though if anyone had done well out of them it was Ninjin. His brother and sister had been defeated in their first fights, Ninjin had faced three different opponents and been nearly killed in all three fights, surely his father would show some pride in that would he not? Ninjin surely hoped so, at least enough pride to forgive the prince of not winning the entire tournament.
Ninjin sighed and sat down on a bench in the garden area. This was a good of a place to sit and talk with his sister as any, though did he really have all that much more to say to her? He had attempted to apologize for his behavior in the arena, but it came out as more of an explanation of how he felt he was changing, and that would have to suffice wouldn’t it?
A question struck him as he was trying to figure out whether or not he deemed it necessary to continue on the conversation. He shook the confusion on whether to keep talking to his sister or not away, disgusted with himself that he would even think that in the first place. She was worthy of his respect.
“What will you do now? There’s not much holding us on Omega still. You’ve no real love for Truffle so I can’t imagine that’s why you’re sticking around, and I doubt you have much more for Conri Lane. The tournament is deserving of my attention for those two, but I can’t imagine the pull of it being strong enough to keep you here. Will you leave Omega and return to New Vegeta, or is there more keeping you here than I had thought?”

Akassa was loyal to her family above all else, doing her duty to her King and father to the best of her abilities. Her father was not that old, middle aged really so she planned to serve him for many more years to come so the thought of serving Ninjin when he was to become King was not something she thought about often. Now and even before the Princess was prepared to continue to serve her family and although she had not really delved into the idea, that meant serving Ninjin when he was to become King. She had no dreams of becoming a ruler any time in her lifetime; it was not something she craved. The family succeeded or failed as a whole so she felt there was no real need for personal desires.
This was not to say she didn’t have goals of her own, but they almost always coincided with her families or would bring honor to her family just the same as her. Of course she had wanted to win the tournament for herself, to be granted her own set of armor, but she had also wanted to win for the Hattori family. Neither had been accomplished though, by any of them for that matter. Her recent loss in the tournament was fresh in her mind, any defeat hard for a Saiyan warrior to forget even if she knew it was time to move on.
The small smile from her brother at the mention of Leke reassured her that the two male’s bond remained strong. The brothers had their differences, there was no denying that, but at the same time they shared many similar qualities. Several times in her life she had wondered what life might have been like if she had been born a male. Would their common gender have made her more worthy of his love and respect, or was it simply her half blooded nature that separated them? Again it was a mute point for like her elimination from the tournament it could not be changed.
Watching him take a seat she moves to sit next to him. Akassa preferred to stand, but figured Ninjin would not be comfortable with her standing in front of him, his eyes cast up to meet her own. It was a small thing and despite the fact they were talking casually it could be considered disrespectful. After all there was a reason that her father’s throne was on a raised dais, making sure he was always sitting higher than any standing or kneeling before him. It made sense to her for they were above the rest of their race, their strength and position granted to them by fate itself. It was not meant to be disrespectful to the rest of their race it was just the way things were. Some were meant to rule, others to follow.
Again Ninjin chose to ask about her personal activities, not something she was used to. Once more it catches her a little off guard, a slight hesitation coming before she answers. It was true the tournament no longer held much interest for her besides seeing what fighter might actually win, but there was something she still needed…no wanted to do. For a moment she almost decides to lie to him, but just can’t bring herself to do it. Honestly the Princess was not able to remember a time in which she had lied to someone in her family.
”It is true the tournament no longer interests me, but I do have other business to attend to before heading home.” Again there was a small pause. ”Later tonight I will be returning to the coliseum with Ezekiel NeCross for a private match. The two of us spent some time sparring before we made our way here, but we never finished any of our sessions so I want to truly test myself against him. He has proven himself a more powerful fighter than I thought so I wish to see which of us is the stronger…” Before the tournament she had every confidence she could defeat him, but after seeing him best Ninjin she was a bit unsure. It was something she needed to find out for herself. Looking to her brother she hoped he would handle the news well, fearing it might anger him.

Heading to the coliseum to fight Zeke Necross? Well there was an answer the Saiyan prince hadn’t been expecting, and yet it pleased him. His sister was indeed stronger than Zeke Necross, he had fought them both and knew that much. She was the better fighter, but perhaps he was saying that because of who she was and what she fought like. The Hattori’s had similar fighting styles, or at least the two eldest did. It would be nice to see the man brought down by a Hattori, his last attempt at the act interrupted by a large sword through his shoulder.
But why Zeke Necross? The question came to his mind almost as quickly as his pleasure in the idea. What connection did his sister have to the man he had faced in the tournament? So… they had sparred? Who had won? They had never finished… but Zeke had beaten him… had his sister held back in the tournament? No… that wasn’t possible they had taken each other to their extremes hadn’t they? And yet at times he had felt as if she had been holding back, not taking the brutal steps he had to ensure his victory… but if she could beat Zeke Necross? Did that mean as well that she could beat him?
He turned away, embarrassed at the anger he was feeling and trying to hide it. She couldn’t have disrespected him like that… to hold back…? Yes he had ordered her to lose once during the match, but it wouldn’t have been holding back, rather surrendering. No… he had been nearly killed during that match, they both had. So who was the stronger?
And yet he wouldn’t be happy if Zeke Necross proved the stronger either. He knew Akassa was the better fighter; she had the better blood after all being half Hattori. If she lost it would only show more weakness on the house. She had to win, but Ninjin dreaded what that mean. He was giving her a chance… when she deserved none. To disrespect him in such a way… It would do irreparable damage to whatever their sibling relationship could have been.
It all rode on what happened in their match that night.
“I will be very interested in the outcome of your spar sister. After all I did fight you both. It will be interesting to see who the stronger of the two is.” He said it in a normal tone, acting as though there wasn’t a storm of thought occurring in his head. He didn’t fully believe that she had held back in their match, but he didn’t disbelieve it either.

Ezekiel NeCross was her friend, and a man under her employ should she want him to be. Beyond that he was a talented fighter and she wanted to prove she was his better. That is why she wanted to fight him, wanted to defeat him. The Princess harbored no ill will towards the man she just wanted to prove that she was stronger than him that she was deserving of her last name. If she was able to best him than, in her mind, it meant that she also possessed the strength to defeat Ninjin. Of course he had beaten her in the tournament, but that was just one fight, why couldn’t she be the one to win the next fight between the two? Akassa believe she could.
Like before the Princess was not aware of the turmoil going on beneath that calm front Ninjin was presenting her, unaware he was entertaining the thought that she had held back. Their match in the tournament had been one of the most brutal throughout its entirety, and if you asked any that watched they would say both fighters gave it their all. That was in fact the truth. Akassa had given everything she had, ever last ounce of Ki while her brother had done the same. Both of them knew what they had put into the fight, but could never truly be sure if the other had been fully committed. If she was able to read his mind and uncover his current thoughts the Princess of New Vegeta would find herself quite offended.
Akassa never held back in a serious fight, the warrior rarely ever held back in a training session either. Only on occasion, when she grossly outclassed her opponent in a sparring match did she hold back…and that was a rarity. For him to think she would have held back in a match like that was as offensive as if he had just smacked her across the face. Fortunately he does well to hide his thoughts from her, not ruining the progress they were making or at least the progress she felt they were making. Talking with him like this was something she was enjoying, Akassa hoping that it would continue this way, hopefully for good.
”Of course Ninjin, I will give everything I have to prove I deserve our name. I have even requested that he use his sword against me, to fight me with everything he has. Anything less would be an insult and not worth my time.”
Again the half-saiyan pauses, debating if she wanted to say what was now on her mind. It was something she had planned to say since waking up in the rejuvenation chamber. She felt it might insult him, or maybe anger him, but after her loss to him she felt it was needed. Looking over to him, her face serious she decides it needed to be said.
”Besides checking on you there was another reason I came to find you. I wanted to apologize for my poor showing in the tournament. I realize it was you I lost too, but I promised you all I was going to win the tournament. Regardless of who I lost to I gave my word and did not keep it” Akassa planned to apologize to the father in the exact same way when they returned home.
To some it most likely would not make any sense, for they had all promised to win and even if one of them had it would have meant the others had not upheld their word. Akassa was disappointed in herself for losing, even if it was to him. She assumed the rest of her family was disappointed with her as well, hence the apologie for not properly representing their family name.

Use his sword against me… [/b] The words struck Ninjin like a fist to the gut, his hand traveled up to his shoulder. It was the same shoulder that bore the scar of Zeke Necross’ sword. He knew the devastating effect it could have upon a person, on their body. The blade had missed killing him by mere inches, and now his sister was taking that risk as well. His thoughts were fighting themselves. If she did hold back in their fight she would have nothing to lose, clearly able to best Zeke Necross’ when she was at one hundred percent health and strength. And if she hadn’t?
Fight me with everything he has… [/b] If Zeke held true to that, and indeed used his sword, then every blow struck with it would be aimed to kill or maim, a sword could not be used to its full effect without murderous intent. They were killing weapons. Ninjin once again felt the tide of conflict inside himself. Would he kill her? and… how was the prince supposed to feel if she did indeed die?
It was only recently that he even began talking to her again, this very conversation in fact. If she died? How would he feel? How was he supposed to feel?
Her next words roused him from his thoughts. Apologize? She had lost to him. There was nothing to apologize for, not to him at the very least. Father they would both have to contend with apologizing to, but to him there was no need. He respected her desire to keep true to her word however, it was commendable.
“I too didn’t live up to my word if you recall, I too stated that I would win the entire thing. You lost to me, and not easily I remind you. There were…” He hesitated. Saying the next words would be a blow to his ego, but she looked disappointed in herself. Since when did such things concern him? Why did he even care? But still he did, and say them he did.
“Regardless of what was said during the fight, you fought expertly and worthy of a Hattori. There were many times during the bout that I thought you would be the victor. And in truth you should have been. I don’t do this. I don’t ever say things like this. And if you tell anyone I said this I’ll deny it to the death. But you were the better, and the way I won was not the way a Hattori, let alone the crown-prince, should need to win his battles. I apologize.” The words flowed from him like a torrent, all the emotion he had kept pent up in this conversation pouring out of him. He looked away when he was finished, staring up at the trees of the garden they were in.
“I will deny to the death that I ever said that. Don’t however take that to mean I didn’t mean it. I would have liked to see what you could have done against the opponents I faced, though it would seem you’ve already fought both of them yourself.” He laughed at that last bit, some of the tension draining from his body.
“I… I’ve been a shit brother…” He had already begun, why stop with just the fight. “Not just to you, but to Leke as well. Though indeed it was more so to you. I… I really have no excuse for it. You did nothing to deserve the mean and cruel things I said or did to you. It wasn’t your fault that Father slept with human filth before marrying mother.” He turned to her and waited for her response. It was a lot to take in to be sure. He wondered how she’d react, what she would say to him. The bridge had been burned long ago, but maybe it wasn’t too late to fix. Or maybe it was. Maybe she could never forgive him for his actions, and he would understand. He had been cruel.

Ezekiel NeCross was to use his sword in their spar, and he had agreed to use it against her. It was a lethal weapon no doubt, the sword having won him the match against Ninjin even though it did not take her brother’s life. Such a thing could not be taken lightly and she had no intention of doing so. Still she wanted it swung at her; Akassa wanted it to be swung with, in the very least, maiming intent. Anything less than a full hearted swing was a waste of her time, he might as well not even draw the blade. It was true they were just fighting as friends, trying to find which of the two was the stronger, but in the mind of the Princess the point of spar was to simulate a real fight. In most cases she was restrained, especially when training with those weaker than her, but this was going to be different. If Akassa was not able to defend herself she was going to pay the price.
Unlike Ninjin, for he had not known of Ezekiel’s weapon, Akassa was prepared. Her newest technique was something that had the capability of matching his blade when it came to exchanging blows. The technique was something she had developed on Alpha Prime and Ninjin nor her Father knew about it. Flexing her fingers she smirks some, able to picture the gauntlet she could form out of Ki when she needed it. Ezekiel NeCross was going to be in for a number of surprises when they met in the ring tonight.
As he begins to speak she slowly starts to nod, agreeing with his words that he too had failed at keeping his promise to their father. Her nodding would quickly cease though as his tone changes, her brother seeming hesitant to continue. When he does continue she couldn’t believe what she hears. His first sentence would cause a small smile to form on her lips, it was the one thing she had always hoped to hear from him. The whole reason for her anger and hurtful words during their fight was because he would not respect her, not counter her as his equal, or at least as one worthy of the Hattori name.
Of course these words were meant solely for her, the Prince’s pride would never allow him to say such a thing publicly. Akassa was just fine with that, she could care less if he said it to anyone else all she wanted was to hear it herself. The apology was not needed, but she felt slightly warmer on the inside for it, the Princess still smiling as she listens to him. Quickly though his words take a negative turn, starting to belittle himself for his actions over the previous years.
Not surprisingly her brow furrows a little as he explains his shortcomings as a brother to Leke and herself. It was true he should have made different decisions in the past, but her reaction and words might not be what he expected.
”Thank you Ninjin, you do not know what that means to me.” In regards to her being worthy of the Hattori name, pausing a second before she continues. ”As for how you have treated us over the years I can admit at times you could have been a little less harsh, but it has only made us stronger. If you respect me now than I have no issues with your actions in the past, we can move on.” Pausing for a second time she was the hesitant one now, knowing her words could be taken in two very different ways, but they needed to be said. Her tone drops to a firm whisper as she starts to speak again.
”Although I appreciate the apology…I never want to hear you speak about yourself like that again. You are Ninjin Hattori, Prince of the Saiyan people and you need not apologize to anyone. I would rather have you kick me across the face again than hear you speak in such a way about yourself. If you want to treat us better that is fine, but do not ramble on like a fool, just make the change.” Her face was its usually calm mask again, but her eyes were locked on his, the brown pools conveying the honesty behind her words. Akassa half expected him to hit her and that was fine as long as he got her message.
If her words didn’t enrage him he might realize she had not commented on his words about her mother. It had offended her a little, but she planned to look past in for the sake of the new relationship that was forming between them.

His sister’s words acknowledged that he had been a bit of an ass as a brother growing up, whether or not she meant it. It made him smile. They had indeed grown stronger for it; it would have been hard to not harden at least a little emotionally due to his nature. Her saying they could move on from it made him all the more pleased. He did respect her now, and the last bit of his old nature bit its tongue and fell silent within his mind. This was the Ninjin he chose to be now.
Her next comment shocked him a bit. It was unlike her to stand up to him in such a way and to speak like him thusly. But it would be his reaction that would shock her. He smiled warmly and put his hand on her shoulder.
“Not for the first time in this conversation Sister, you’re right. Actions speak louder than words, and I must show that I am a changed man if truly I am one. My words here mean little if I do not act upon them in the same manner in which I say them. And though I am Ninjin Hattori, and am crown-prince of all the Saiyans, I’ve learned much in my time on Omega. It is not the weak man that knows when he errs, but the strong one that can admit it. I read that in a book somewhere… I believe it went ‘to err is human, to forgive is divine’ and though I’m most certainly not human I think the message still stands.”
He rose from his seated position and tapped the side of his scouter. It was functional, but not in the use of reading power levels. He had his own inherent ability for that. His scouter was more for communications and mapping out battle strategies. It also served as a convenient clock. The Saiyan needed to clean himself up. It had been a long day, and though he was fresh out of the rejuvenating tank he felt he needed a good dose of cleansing powder.
“If you’ll excuse me sister, I think I need a good cleaning, and you have a bout to get to with our mutual friend…” He smirked as he said it. He turned to exit the garden but hesitated. He walked back over to her and extended his hand.
“I’m glad we can put the past behind us. I’ll need your help if I plan to rule successfully over this unruly mob we call our race.”
