Nasu looked at his heavily modified ship with a grin. It had cost him a large portion of his zeni and taken about a week to get up and running but it had been worth it. The streets of the Omega Collective were full of vendors, he had been sure he could have found a better deal but the man he had gone to had a reputation for quality work and all things considered he’d rather the ship that carried him through the frozen vacuum of space be quality over cheap.
He had only been in the ship once while it was being modified, he had taken a few moments to talk to the AI that came with the simulator and immediately he regretted it. The ship had previously been an arrogant bastard, smug and full of itself, the fact that it could now use the simulator to manifest a physical form did nothing to get rid of the AI’s delusions of grandeur. Within 5 seconds of manifesting the ship had mocked Nasu on his appearance, showing up before him in a sharp tailored business suit.
“Sir if you’re going to have a nice ship you should at least try to dress like you’re not still homeless.” the AI had said and Nasu looked down at his own clothes. The leather jacket he constantly wore was faded from use but he had always thought it was cool and looked good even if it wasn’t classy. Still the homeless jab hit a little too close as Nasu had spent a good portion of his life homeless on the streets of New Vegeta.
“Yea easy to dress nice when you can just create your clothes with a snap of your finger. God damned hologram.” Nasu mumbled as he left knowing that the upgrades while annoying were still coming along nicely.
Now everything was complete on his ship. Fully upgraded and paid for he walked in for the first time. Walking in he felt a slight tension as he stared at the new gravity chamber he had installed. The majority of the zeni he used for the project came from Rox, he thought back to the strange girl he’d only ever seen twice but still he wondered how she was doing? She had left in such a hurry leaving him with her zeni with an odd request to find the boy she thought might be the father of her child. Her sudden disappearance never sat well with him, always hoping she would come back somehow but still there was nothing he could do now. Putting his hand on the entrance to the chamber he bowed his head for a moment and whispered “Thank you.” before stepping into the chamber and taking off his jacket.
Underneath his coat was what looked like a plain white v-necked t-shirt. However if anyone were to try and take it off they would find they got more than they bargained for as the shirt was in fact a training tool. It weighed more than Nasu ever imagined possible for such a seemingly light garment. It was the product of a company called Rosen Corp from their training line used for high end soldiers and deep down he knew as much as he resented the power it cost him while wearing it the shirt had helped him grow a great deal stronger over the time he’d been forced to wear it. Hell he resented the cost he had paid to get it. The Red Flag had required that he wear heavy weights at all times unless he was on a weights off sanctioned mission. They deemed the training would make him stronger and it had but still there is no way a simple shirt should cost thousands of zeni.
Smiling he realized he was stalling, the last few times he had used a gravity chamber he was barely able to stand at first and he knew he would be cranking the gravity higher than ever so today would not be the exception to that rule.
“Ship put the gravity at x20.” he said hoping his added weights didn’t kill him.
“As you wish.” was the only response he got as the gravity abruptly spiked up and Nasu braced himself. His legs spread, knees bent Nasu was able to handle the increased gravity for a brief moment before it abruptly vanished, leaving him standing straight and slightly light headed.
No sooner had he stood up straight, clearly confused then the gravity kicked back in sending him spiking into the floor in a heap.
“What-? What the fuck computer!” he mumbled out as his face pressed into the floor.
“I’m so sorry sir.” the AI said not sounding sorry at all. “There was a brief spike in power to the chamber caused the gravity system to shut off. New system and all, but don’t worry, I got it fixed for you now sir.” the AI said and Nasu could swear he heard soft chuckling as the speaker system went silent.
“Bastard, if I didn’t pay a fortune for you I would fly you through a giant magnet, see who’s laughing then!”
With an effort he rolled on his back and sat up. He was still cursing under his breath but in another moment he was back on his feet. The increased gravity as usual was like nothing Nasu had ever experienced before. At first it felt like even his organs wanted to just melt into the ground it was so heavy. Blinking became an honest to god issue. Blinking. He could shut his eyes easily enough but opening them again requires conscious thought. After a few moments of just standing however he began to adjust as he always had. Slowly but surely he became acclimated to the increased gravity as his saiyan body was ever quick to adapt.
Finally after a few moments he took his first step and then another and before long he was running and jumping around the room. But he didn’t need just a regular gravity chamber. However nice it would be to train in increased gravity it would never be able to train him like fighting. And that was why the new expense was so worth it.
“Computer.” he said after stopping for a minute or two to catch his breathe. “Simulate, Tsuyo Hatttori.”
For a moment nothing happened and Nasu looked around wildly for any sight of his father. Finally after a long moment he realized nothing was there and began questioning the honesty of the man who installed the simulator before the AI spoke up for the first time something like genuine concern in his voice.
“Sir...are you sure?” it asked.
“What do you mean ‘Am I sure?’ yes I’m sure! Do it!” Nasu said ignoring the obvious warning. The ship was able to read power levels and even though it wasn’t overly fond of him it was still concerned enough to ask. Nasu was not to be deterred however. Not when he could finally feel the satisfaction that came with punching his father for the first time in his life.
Seconds later the King of the Saiyan’s stood in front of him head cocked to the side questioning, and for a split second Nasu thought about saying something to him. Then the bastard smiled at him and all thought of communication fled Nasu’s head as he charged.
He could have taken a moment to sense the King’s energy and he would have known that he was out of his league but the rage that took him spared no time for logic. Instead he charged as quick as he could, when he was only two feet away from the King he powered up letting his bright red aura flare around him hoping to startle the man make him flinch back a moment.
The King was unimpressed by his light show however and before Nasu got any closer the man contemptuously backhanded away with a look of disgust. Nasu tasted copper in his mouth and knew that he was bleeding. Spitting the blood on his clean white floor Nasu pushed himself back to his feet.
“Fine, lets get serious then.” Nasu said his full power flaring around him his red aura glowing wildly. This time Nasu began to circle around the King of the Saiyan’s slowly. Tsuyo for his part looked unconcerned but he turned as well constantly keeping Nasu in front of him. While he might not be able to match the man’s power Tsuyo knew better than to ever let an opponent behind him willingly. Finally Tsuyo’s back was to the entrance to the chamber and Nasu reached into his mind for his telekinesis, with a thought he grabbed hold of his leather jacket which he had left on the other end of the room and yanked it forward at the King. There was no energy signature behind telekinesis so there was no way for Tsuyo to know that the coat was coming and when it covered the King’s head Nasu grinned and charged again this time aiming a series of kicks at the man.
However like the first time the King was unimpressed easily sensing the boy’s energy and dodging from side to side like a boxer without ever needing to see the boys feet. Finally after having shown Nasu that he was out of his depth the King grabbed hold of one of his legs and slammed Nasu once into the floor hard before throwing him off to the side of the chamber so hard he dented a wall.
Once again Nasu pushed himself to his feet. He was determined, he knew at this point he couldn’t win but he would at least land a damned punch. He would feel the thrill of hitting his father knowing he had earned it. Blood leaked from his nose, and reaching up he could tell it was broken but that wasn’t a huge deal. With a grimace and a quick pull he straightened out his nose making sure it wouldn’t set crooked his eyes never leaving his father who had removed the coat from his head but was looking at Nasu with lazy unconcerned eyes.
Finally Nasu drew his power to his hand and a destructo disk formed. Reaching for his inner strength the boy threw the disk at Tsuyo before charging behind it. The disk was slow and his father easily jumped above it. Instead of leaping to match his father however Nasu reached once again for his telekinesis grabbing hold of the King’s tail and bringing it to his own outstretched hand.
He assumed like much of his race the King had trained the weakness out of the tail however it was still a handhold. With all of his vastly increased strength Nasu spun around gripping the King by his tail and whipped him into the far wall. He had barely let go when he began to charge. Tsuyo slammed back first into the wall of the simulator and instantly Nasu was on him. With glee he landed a solid punch to the man’s face and his fist was cocked back ready to land another when the King’s eyes snapped open with rage.
Nasu could see the hatred in them for a split second that a boy barely half his power had thought he could land a punch on him. That he dared challenge him in anything. Before the second fist could fall Tsuyo’s arm snapped forward grabbing Nasu by the throat and squeezing. Immediately air to Nasu’s lungs stopped, he tried to inhale but the King’s hand had completely and easily cut off his ability to breathe.
In a moment of terror he began pawing at the King’s hand unable to even tell the computer to shut off the simulation. His grasping at Tsuyo’s wrist had no effect, he tried punching and kicking the King again to no effect. He was going to die. He didn’t eve need the real King to kill him, his simulation would do the job for him. Nasu stared into the simulation’s eyes before he blacked out and he could see no compassion but he did see real hatred there.
Finally the King began to flicker, Nasu was unsure if this was due to him losing consciousness or not however and before he could question anything his world went black around him.
He didn’t know how long it took but Nasu woke up on the floor of the gravity chamber sore all over. Standing up he noticed the gravity field had been shut off and gravity was restored to normal. He reached up and with a hand felt his neck, he touched it and instantly flinched away from the red hot pain that shot through him at even the faintest touch.
“That’ll hurt for a while.” he thought to himself as he looked around. He noticed a few dents in the walls and his blood that he had spit on the ground earlier but there was no sign of the King and he breathed a sigh of relief. The system must have shut down somehow even without his express command to do it. The AI was oddly quiet he thought he’d be gloating by now.
Walking towards the door Nasu noticed a hanger, reaching over he see’s his leather jacket freshly washed and pressed. He wasn’t sure if the King had ruined it when he ripped it off his head and smiling Nasu put it over his shoulders feeling it’s comforting weight.
“Maybe this was the AI’s idea of an apology.” he thought to himself as he put his hands in his pockets preparing to leave.
No sooner had he put his hand in the pocket then he felt something there however. Pulling it out he saw it was a note neatly written on a small piece of paper.
“Even homeless people don’t walk around naked. - Ship” the note read. And Nasu couldn’t help it, he laughed.
“Then again, maybe not.”
