“Arise, my son.”
The words floated through his mind like bits of dust falling through a beam of light. They were slow and graceful, not meant to awaken harsh or rough, but rather with a gentle calming feeling. Icarus, once a teenager named Aaron, awoke to find himself in a place that he did not recognize. It was the inside of a mausoleum. What in the world had just…
Oh. That was right. Aon, god of the Universal Church of One, had just revealed himself to be Aaron’s, or Icarus’ rather, father. With that he had activated Icarus’ hidden powers and had told him of his true destiny. He was a demi-god. His enemies were the enemies of Aon. He had been given a duty, given an oath, given a purpose. Icarus had had to lie down when he had first discovered his powers.
He had been unable to control them, so foreign were they to his body. His hatred had poured out of him and he had killed a Half-Saiyan girl. There would no doubt be an investigation, and he could barely control his powers. So his father told him to hide. Hide and wait. Wait for the signal that meant that he was once again fit to rejoin the world. When he had better control over his powers.
His body felt like a rock when he first tried to move it. It wasn’t as if it hurt, he found that pain barely bothered him anymore. It just felt stiff. As if it hadn’t move in a very long time.
“uh… My head.”
It felt as if it was filled with cobwebs.
“Out into the world now. Don’t draw attention to yourself, yet. You have much power within you, but not enough yet.” The voice whispered once more. Then, for whatever reason, Icarus knew it was gone. The young man bit his tongue. What now?
Quickly he flew upwards out of the mausoleum, not bothering to put the rightful owner of the coffin back in. Somewhere out here was his destiny. Earth however, may be the last place he wanted to be.
