The clones of Akassa and Nasu zig-zagged in between each other before converging on Ninjin at the same time. The Super Saiyan was well and truly dumbfounded. Yasai was a brilliant tactician. No doubt he had not meant to anger Ninjin by the summoning of his family out of those damn crystal things, but it certainly did serve its purpose of distracting him. At first Ninjin was at a loss for words. The last person he had expected to see was his sister. In the distraction Nasu connected with a spinning kick to his stomach and Akassa one to the side of his head. The armor of Bubebolos did nothing to mitigate the force of either blow. Though he was still in his Super Saiyan form the blows still hurt nonetheless. His ears were instantly filled with a ringing and his mouth with a sour taste. With little control over his spaghetti legs he stumbled backwards and tried to regain his footing but Truffle was already upon him.
Perhaps the most difficult to fight was Truffle. Akassa he was mad at, Nasu was supposedly looking after his son, and Truffle? Well he had a bond with the big blue alien that he had had ever since his second birthday when his father had gifted him the creature. A massive blue paw caught Ninjin and easily scooped him off of his feet and threw him backwards and into the air. With a thud the prince landed in the center of the arena. The crowd had not seen the Super Saiyan manhandled to this extent. Sure there had been some close moments again a few other fighters, but Ninjin was truly out of his element. Even Yasai noticed.
“Concentrate Ninjin, ignore the faces they wear.” His great-great-great-great grandfather yelled down at him, his voice a mixture of encouragement and chastisement. That was easy enough for him to say, he was not facing his younger brother, his longest and most trusted friend, and his sister who had recently killed his family and usurped his throne. All-in-all a hard group to fight against. Still Ninjin was not one to just give up. They had caught him off guard. That was all. They were clones not the real beings.
Ninjin surged forwards and made to bring his knee into Clone Truffle’s gut. Truffle’s large eyes suddenly changed from look of fury to one of hurt and betrayal. Ninjin’s knee stopped and Clone Truffle took the advantage to slam the Saiyan away with a fist covered in rock he had been hiding. Before he had even flown ten feet he felt the knee of Akassa slam into his back and send him face first into the ground. The only reason he knew it was Akassa was because suddenly Nasu appeared before him and backhanded him across the face at the same time. The only thing that kept his mouth from filling with blood was his control over the red-life-liquid.
Ninjin turned over and sprang to his feet using his bukujutsu to power him up into the air to create some distance between him and his now four opponents. Yasai was smart using the crystals to his advantage, and even smarter to summon with them opponents that Ninjin would have difficulty fighting. There were emotions surging and swirling within his mind and chest that he couldn’t seem to shut up or shut out. His sister had killed his family! How was he supposed to fight Truffle and Nasu at the same time with the same intensity? How was he supposed to fight any of them?
From somewhere far below him Ninjin heard a voice cry out.
“You got this kid!”
Vil. Of course. Ever since he had been young there had been few bigger supporters of the Saiyan than his bodyguard and mentor. No doubt he would have Ninjin’s back in this competition and give his full support to the former prince. It made Ninjin smile knowing that he had someone firmly in his corner down there. The Super Saiyan turned on a dime and shot straight back down, flying speedily past Akassa and Nasu on their ascent to catch him. Ninjin turned on a dime once again and brought his right hand out in front of him, steadying it with the other hand. It was a technique that he had just learned, but he was hoping it would serve him well. It seemed to work for Yasai.
Red bullets of ki energy shot from his outstretched palm and at Nasu and Akassa. They flecked the two and both had to cross their arms across their face and chest to avoid the brunt of the attack. With that Ninjin turned and fired a Shirishiri cannon at Truffle. Focus the crimson Saiyan thought to himself. No one knew Truffle better than he, and Hoyo’s were an unusual speices. They ate Ki. Sure enough Truffle opened his mouth to receive the blast and the Super Saiyan poured more and more power into it. The clone of Truffle exploded into fragments just as Ninjin felt something solid collide with the back of his head.
Whatever it was sent him spiraling through the air. In a move that couldn’t have been planned better Ninjin lay face-up in front of Yasai.
“Your sister kills your parents and brother and yet you take out your pet first? Interesting.” Ninjin quickly rolled over to his hands and feet.
“Less distraction of emotions that way.” He said the words as he pushed himself off of the ground. It was good that there was less distractions but he still had the threat of Nasu and Akassa to worry about. It didn’t seem like Yasai had any more crystals to utilize, mercifully. With a roar of fury Ninjin pushed his power level to its maximum and met Akassa and Nasu head on. The three began to exchange blows and Ninjin was grateful for the umpteenth time that these were mere clones of his loved ones, if you could call Akassa that, and not the actual thing.
Though he had no doubt in his mind that the time may come when he would be forced to fight Akassa. If everything that Ua had said was true. If everything that Vil had thought was true. There would no doubt be a confrontation between the two, that was unless Ninjin stayed in paradise forever. If that was the case this may be the only time to get some things off of his chest.
“I hated you.” He said the words even though he knew the clone couldn’t hear them or understand them. She was not the real Akassa. Damn it if she didn’t look close though.
“That message came in and I hated you so fully and instantly that it drove me to an anger and another level of power that I hadn’t known existed within me. You took my family from me, my throne, they were all I had. But in return you gave me the power to fight Invictus. I lost, but I’m not sure that that power would have come another way.”
Ninjin fought off the blows and attempted to strike back at both Nasu and Akassa simultaneously. It was not easy. Despite not being in their Super Saiyan forms Yasai had set their power levels to a state that allowed them to fight with Ninjin. His great-great-great-great grandfather had floated over to eavesdrop on the words that his ancestor was saying.
“I may never forgive you for what you’ve done, but I’m sorry for my part in it.” It was the last thing that Ninjin would say to the clone of Akassa. There was fighting to be done and talking would almost certainly ruin it. There was also no point in giving a long-winded and drawn out speech to a clone. The real Akassa would not be able to hear the words, and so the point was moot. Still it felt good to get off of the former crown prince’s chest. The kick that cracked against it did not feel as good.
Ninjin stumbled back as Nasu flipped over Akassa and began punching at Ninjin, though wildly and lacking much form to them. It was angry fighting, as if the clone was upset with the Saiyan in front of him. Ninjin kicked out his brother’s leg and broke the clone’s neck with a quick snap of his hands. The clone burst into fragments. The Akassa clone and Yasai were the final two opponents that remained. The crowd took in a gasp at the defeating of Nasu, as it was so quick and brutal. Still this was Heaven and the only thing being hurt were clones that were not sentient beings. So afterwards they let out a thunderous roar of applause. Ninjin looked over to see Vil, Ua, and Alexandria all in the stands cheering for him.
Akassa came at him once more. A line of pain exploded against his face and Ninjin was surprised to see the ki-whip that his sister used in the hands of her clone. With a grimace he brought his hand to his cheek and it came away bloody, but only because he had intended it too. The former prince swiped his hand at his sister and a row of blood spears shot forth at her, her aura surging all around her. Nimbly she avoided the attacks and surged forwards. Ninjin wasted little time in doing the same and they clashed with an explosion of force in the middle of the arena. A literal shockwave was sent out by the collision and the crowd once again let out a gasp.
Blow after blow was countered and parried with expert skill. There were few fighters in the known universe as good as Ninjin Hattori, but Akassa Hattori could be counted among that number. For what seemed like hours neither was able to get a blow on the other. Akassa would fall low for a sweep kick only for Ninjin to jump over and avoid it. Ninjin would counter a cross with a right hook only to be countered again. The crowd was loving every second of it and truthfully, if even the tiniest of amounts, it made him miss his sister. The last time they had spent any alone time together was a friendly spar between the two on New Vegeta. The talk that they had that preceded it had seen Ninjin apologize for being a shitty brother for a long time. Where was that Akassa...? She had died against Aer Nin it seemed.
Yasai stood back watching his two ancestors fight with a look of great interest on his face. Those gathered too watched with vested interest. Ninjin Hattori and Akassa Hattori fighting was always a spectacle worthy of the full attention of the audience. Ninjin punched Akassa wickedly across the face and she would follow it right back with one of her own. Neither of the two were giving an inch to the other regardless of the fact that one was a clone and the other a Super Saiyan. Yasai had done his homework, worked with Vil, and now he was testing the boy.
Ninjin backflipped through the air as Akassa landed a vicious right hook. Quickly the former prince adjusted himself and shot his own solar lash at his sister. The whip slammed against her and sent her flying back through the air, much as Ninjin had done only moments before. They both quickly righted themselves and glared across the empty space between them at one-another. What would happen if the real Ninjin and Akassa ever ran into each other again? Would it occur like this, or vastly different? Ninjin had heard rumors that Akassa too had ascended to the state of Super Saiyan. His sister and he had always been close in power level, each taking the turn to seize the position of power from the other only to have it taken away again. Had their destinies proven so similar once again that her power had risen at a time and a level that his had, or had one of them grown stronger in their time away? Ninjin supposed he may never know.
Ninjin raised his right hand in a claw and balls of ki formed above the clone of his sister. She glanced up at them and scoffed, then raced forwards using her bukujutsu to assist her. Ninjin dragged his clawed hand through the air and the balls fell to the ground, making a thunderous explosion behind his sister. Akassa formed her ki gauntlet over her hand and the claws easily swiped through Ninjin’s armor, cutting three long gashes over the Saiyan’s abdomen. Ninjin’s ki-infused fist slammed against his sister’s gauntlet as the other one came around, glowing with solar energy. It slammed into Akassa’s face and sent her spiraling to the ground below.
Ninjins’ hands came up as an orb of ki appeared in front of him. The clone of Akassa had already grabbed the edge of the crater she had created and was lifting herself out. Blood trickled slowly through the air in lines to meet with the orb of ki that Ninjin held in his hands. It was his blood-ki grenade, and it certainly packed quite a wallop. He launched it down at her and she launched her ki-whip up at it. They collided and the orb exploded sending crystal shards of hardened blood in all directions. Some cut and tore at Akassa’s skin, other’s at Ninjin’s. They stopped against an invisible barrier just as they began to hit the front of the stands.
Ninjin knew that if he was going to win, and against Yasai as well, he was going to have to finish the fight with Akassa soon that way he would still have energy to fight his great-grandfather. Akassa once more took to the air and so too did Ninjin, falling like a stone.
The former prince pulled his fist back and an aura appeared around him though Ninjin was surprised to see who the aura was of. It was Vil, not his father. The duo’s combined fist collided roughly with the face of Akassa as her own fist collided with Ninjin’s face. The clone exploded into fragments, but not before it felt like Ninjin’s jaw did the same. When he turned Yasai was standing there. Instantly Ninjin’s guard rose one again, but Yasai raised a placating hand.
“That was very impressive Ninjin. It is good to see that the Hattori fighting spirit has not diminished over the decades. You can rest now Ninjin.” His great-great-great-great grandfather smiled as he said the words and just on the edge of his hearing Ninjin thought he heard the announcer calling out his name in victory. The golden yellow glow of his hair faded the second his head hit the ground, though not before a pillow appeared underneath it.
