Axaleium awoke just outside of Central City. The field of grass felt odd under his body. After a life time of feeling dirt, stones, and bone, something alive under him was... Odd.
Sitting up, he looked slowly around, his eyes tracking motion of cars and people near by. Right off the bat, he knew he wasn't going to fit in. Closing his eyes and focusing, he used his magic to create a cloak around himself, to atleast hide a little bit of his demonic origins.
This would atleast lower the number of prying eyes around him. He walked to the city, his legs feeling like was in the middle of an earthquake for several steps. The machine had worked... Sorta. He was in the realm of mortals, the living, and was still alive, so he accepted a little bit of pain.
Taking his time, he entered the city after nearly half an hour. The first thing he noticed was the smell. It was far different than the smells of the hellish prison he had escaped from.
The smell of food, flowers, fuel, people, and technology all melded together and was nearly overwhelming in it's ability to bring forth nausea. He rested his hand on a wall to catch his breath, refocusing his mind. A man walked up to him, looking concerned.
He was dressed in a buisness suit. Simple black with a blue tie and his hair slicked back to cover the fact he was balding. A weak smile crossed his lips.
"Ahh. You ok buddy? Earth can be a bit overwhelming on your first trip here." He said, staying at arms lenght as Axaleium looked at him.
"Indeed it can. Thank you sir, but I shall be alright. Please, do not let me hold you up." Axaleium said, the man nodding and taking off quickly.
A human... Such a strange thing. After seeing his own kind for so many ages, it was... Refreshing, to see another race of beings that was normal and solid like they are. A smile pulled across his lips as he started to walk once more, the weakness passing.
Only a block away from where he needed to rest, another man approached him. This one was decked out a bit more simply. Short sleeve green shirt, a chain necklace of a yellow metal, white pants, boots. His hair was a dark blue as well, making everything clash.
/"He looks like a pack of wild clowns vomited on him..."/ He said in his mind, trying not to chuckle.
"Hey friend. You alright? I saw you resting over there. My friend and I can help you. We're paid by the government to help outsiders. Follow me." The man said, motioning Axaleium to follow.
It was a obivious trap, but he didn't care. Following the man into the alleyway, he walked past a door and a man stepped out. This one was powerfully built, large muscles, tall, short hair.
This one wore a loose fitting cut off tee, jeans, and boots. His right hand held a knife. Metal of some kind, with both edges sharpened.
"Ya zeni or ya life." The brute said, the other man stepping forward.
"No hard feelings. This is just buisness. A man's got to make a living." The first said, also producing a knife.
"I had hoped to not cull anyone my first day here. Leave and you get to keep breathing." Axaleium said, trying to keep from killing them.
"No! Screw ya! I'mma gut ya and take ya zeni!" The brute yelled, stabbing forward and passing right through an afterimage.
Axaleium was behind him, his arms out wide. Snapping them inwards, he grabbed the man around the neck, the spikes facing out. A simple twist and the muffled sound of bones breaking followed.
"You both brought this upon yourselves. You made me do this... Enjoy the taste of hell..." Axaleium said, moving faster than the man could react.
Axaleium's hand wrapped around the throat of the man. The power held in it was more than enough to crush his wind pipe and constrict the flow of blood to the brain. All Axaleium did from that point was lift the man up as he struggled to free himself. After eight seconds he passed out, only few more would lead to brain death.
Quickly searching them, he found more of the zeni he had aquired before. He would find a way to make use of all this. Besides, it wasn't like they needed it anymore.
Setting the men beside a dumpster, Axaleium decided it was time to explore more. He walked to the other end of the alleyway, his eyes sweeping the new street. This city was massive, and it would take time to explore. Then again, when you have nothing but time anyways, what did it really matter?
"A new world, my freedom, and the ability to grow strong at a reasonable pace... This world shall indeed be perfect for my new home. Wonderful." Axaleium said, moving into the crowds of people only moments later.
The people here were all mixed. He saws humans of various colors, furred creatures, massive humans who looked they abused some kind of muscle enhancement drug without gaining ki, and small children.
The children all ran in terror when they got a good look at him. He really couldn't blame them. After all, he wasn't exactly what one would expect a normal person to look like. Hell, he was monsterous compared to these people, and the cloak wasn't working out.
Stepping into an alleyway, he simply observed for several seconds, then used his magic to change his outfit. The cloak vanished and was replaced by a black trench coat and a dark shirt.
The left arm had been removed from the coat to allow him free mobility of his armored limb. The right sleeve was there to just past the elbow, keeping his forearm exposed. Overall, it did well to hide his true nature.
At least that's what his ego told him.
Slipping back into the crowd, he heard people mumble about a neo-punk or a death-goth. What ever those happened to be. He continued his exploration of the city, visiting shops to browse and burn some of the money he aquired from the men he killed.
Buying food, clothing, and a map of the local area pushed him down to two hundred zeni. He felt he was ready to explore this world. To go through its choices and see what this world could offer.
This world with its riches and dangers, its risks and adventures, and its myraid of people all closely. It was going to be a wonderful place to be.
