Standing on the edge of the forest, the Makaio looked in wonder at all the life before him. Nothing in his entire life had looked like this. So many greens, browns, and blues. Bugs and animals of all types roamed freely.
It was all awe-inspiring to him. Everything was usually all dead or dying, but this... He stood there, simply soaking it all in. Then reality snapped back in, he was outstripped by millions of miles by those people from before, he needed train.
Crouching low, he built up power in his legs, leaping off the ground and towards a far away section of the land. He flew through the air for nearly a mile before crashing down upon the ground, Hancock style.
Shaking for a moment, he stood and looked around. It was an open field, with a good four dozen feet between him and the trees. Shifting, he takes a slow breath, drawing in strength as he stretches.
Reaching the peak of his inhale, he held it for several seconds. When he exhaled, a white mist followed, condensing into a ghost-like construct of himself. A single Kamakazi Ghost had bern created.
"Hello Ghost. You're going to help me train. Try to grab me." He said, jumping back as the ghost nodded. "Start."
Ghost Ax rushed the demon, flying at him and encountering an after-image. Axaleium was already off to one side, grinning as he watched the ghost.
Axaleium pulled his ki in close, wrapping it around himself in a mobile shield. Better safe than sorry. The ghost burst forward again, laughing as it closed in.
The ghost once more encountered only an After-Image, Axaleium standing up several feet away. He charged up an energy blast as he came up. The ghost narrowed it's eyes, getting defensive.
"It won't make you explode, but it will help with understanding of your limits." He said, jumping backwards and firing the weak ki blast.
The ghost spun around the blast, rushing to close the gap. Axaleium continued to fall back, letting the ghost get closer. When it was nearly to him, he rolled out of the way, using after-image to gain distance.
/"The ghosts can learn and adapt. I wonder if they can take on other traits as well."/ He said in his mind, firing a weak but rapid ki volley, watching the ghost dodge and advance.
Each second he took to fire, the ghost made up the distance he had opened. It was also starting to wise up to his tactics. He didn't put in enough power for it to kill him, but it would still sting.
He changed tactics suddenly, charging towards the ghost and using after image to dodge at the last second. Appearing three feet away, he fired a blast tgat would take out the ghost, leaping away as it was consumed.
The explosion marred the ground and Axaleium created a tome and ink pen. Sitting down, he started to scribe.
'Ghosts like long distance attacks, ability to immobilize, and make the kill.
'Ghosts do, however, have the ability to learn if they aren't destroyed right away. This knowledge is sadly lost when they are destroyed.
'More testing is required.'
With that note, he closed the book and used his magic to create a bag to put it in. Now came the planning phase. He walked around the clearing, wondering about other applications for this ability.
Normally, he made his minions do all the work, but never really explored this ability to it's fullest. Now he had a chance and the ability to improve upon it. Standing next to the blast ring, he looked at the damage his ghost caused. It wasn't a ton, but it was enough to make someone hesitant to attack him...
At least before. This land was filled with insanely powerful beings, so it wasn't going to simply be a walk in the park. He crafted a small ring of objects, nearly man sized, from his magic. Axaleium was going to do more training than with just himself.
He was going to train his ghosts, see what limits they had, personalities that are most common, what they could learn to do from him.
Taking a deep breath and holding it, he focused his ki once more, exhaling not one, but five. Each one was a fifth of his power, and would do well.
"Hello my ghosts. We are going to do some training. It's high time I started learning how to really use you all. Lets get started." He said, assigning them numbers and starting to train.
First order of business was to learn how long they could stay in motion, flying and chasing phantom targets before fading away or exploding. It wasn't as long as he had hoped for, but perhaps that was his fault. He only had so much power to give.
Next was to see how far they could follow directions. This was a fresh group, and they did very well as the directions got more complex. It was mostly positioning and cut off, trying to see if they could predict or even patterns. Once more, the longer they lived, the faster they learned.
Finally was group attacking and reacting to a rapidly changing battle ground. They seemed to excell in the chaos of random battle orders and sudden changes. This made Axaleium smile inside.
Pulling out his book, he sat down, the day consumed by training. He made his notes about his phantom warriors.
'They can be taught, though training is lost upon destruction. I need to seek a way to preserve this and allow it to pass to the next group made.
'Perhaps in time I shall find a way to do this. For now, they shall continue to be my blade in battle.'
Standing Axaleium nodded and headed back to the city.
