Akassa awoke in a sweat. Shooting upright in her plush bed the Queen threw the covers from atop her small frame. Chest heaving she sat wide eyed for a moment as her mind came to the realization that what she had experienced was indeed just a dream.
Fog and destruction had surrounded her, death veiled by a thick smoke that permeated from what was left of a city. So thick was the obscuring smoke that she could not tell what city it was used to be, New Vegeta, one of Earth…she was unsure. Stumbling through the rubble and charred remains of what had been the Queen saw no sign of life. Such a place should have had a decently high population, the skeletons of the buildings littering the ground hinting at skyscrapers that stretched towards the clouds. Where had they all gone…had they evacuated? Minutes passed and she saw nothing, no clear indication of what world she might be on. There had to be some sort of clue…something that stood out amongst all of this chaos to give her a clue…that was when she noticed the bodies a short distance away.
Again the veil that hung over the place made details from this distance impossible. The lack of any signature made it clear they no longer clung to life, but perhaps their race or features would hint at where she was. Making her way towards them she can soon see them more clearly, three bodies covered in soot and dirt. Two were clustered together, the male one in a position that lead one to believe he had been attempting to shield the female under him from something… Flipping his larger corpse off of the slender female the Queen's eyes went wide with horror. Maya…and the man who had attempted to protect her was Toa…who had done this. Wait….she ran to the third body, wiping the pile of dirt from its face to reveal the lifeless face of her brother, Nasu. Who was responsible for this?
As if on cue, a voice spoke through the fog. "You did…" Eyes snapping up Akassa scanned the area for the source. Teeth grinding together, the expression dominating her face promised suffering to whoever she might find. Again the voice came through the smoke. "You did this Akassa…their deaths were your fault." Had she ever known her mother in real life, she would have recognized the woman's voice. Only subconsciously did she know it, deep within her mind the sound remembered from the day of her birth. Only if she had realized the true message of the dream might she have reacted differently. Instead assumed their deaths were a result of her inability to protect them, Akassa having failed those closest to her when it mattered most. With no target before her the Queen did all she could, let out a scream of rage as her golden aura burst to life around her. The scream is what woke her.
A hand lifting to her face, Akassa shoves sweaty bangs from over her eyes, taking in several deep breaths to steady herself. Not much of a dreamer, she didn't usually take much stock in them. This had felt different though, seeing the bodies of those she cared for was…infuriating. As always the Queen let her anger wash away all other emotions, wiping out the weakness she currently felt in her knees. Teeth grinding much like they had in her dream Akassa hops from her bed with a snort. She would not let anything happen to them, no one would touch those that had proven their loyalty to the Queen.
**********
Several minutes later, in the middle of the night, Akassa stepped into her simulator. Weighted jacket draped over her shoulders she barks out an order when Resolute began to address her. Unlike everyone else in the palace, the AI had no need of sleep and was always "awake."
"Seventy-five times the normal gravity, opponents at seventy-five percent of my power, focus on physical combat…until I drop." Often the Queen's tone carried a finality to it and today was no different, yet the request had Resolute questioning her once again…a common annoyance these days it seemed.
"My Queen, perhaps you should return to rest before…"
"Now!" Came the harsh interrupting voice of the Queen, in no mood for games. She had woken from a displeasing dream with thoughts of her own weaknesses in mind; she was in no mood to debate how she should train with an AI that didn't even have its own body. Moving towards the center of the chamber she takes in a deep breath as the gravity in the room rises, feeling the pressure pushing down on her as it combined with the weights sewn into her jacket. Normally focusing on pending or active combat calmed Akassa down, but not today. The very idea of failing herself and those she cared for did not allow for her anger to subside. She was never exactly sweet and outright loving towards those close to her, but that did not mean the feelings did not exist. As Queen she needed to remain outwardly strong, attached to no one. Internally, she wasn't sure if she could carry on without them. Acceptance and respect is all she ever wanted. Nasu, Toa and Maya had given her both.
The passion and anger contained within her would be revealed as the first simulated being came at her. Appearing as a human male, about Akassa's size and quite fit; he came in with a dashing jab for her face. The Queen's anger taking her into what some might classify as a heightened state she waits until the last moment to shift to the side. Arms snapping up she takes hold of the male's arm and with a twist breaks the appendage, a sickening snap echoing through the chamber as she spins and takes him to the floor. No sooner had he impacted the ground than did one of her hands release and gauntlet covered fingers drove through the side of his skull. No blood erupted from the fatal wound, but she wouldn't have even noticed if it had. Releasing his limp arm she rises to her feet, turning as she senses the next foe coming her way.
The female Icejin came in with a flurry of kicks, utilizing bukujutsu to keep herself aloft. Each was met with a gauntleted arm of the Saiyan Queen, smacking them wide each time. The assault was pathetic, but only meant to be a distraction as the powerful tail of the Icejin finally stabbed forward, energy surrounding it much like Akassa often did with her own tail. Snapping her head to the side in just in time Akassa felt warmth flow down her cheek as the bladed tail nicks her cheek. Hissing in anger more than anything for letting herself get hit, even if just a glancing blow, she reaches up to wrap one arm around tail as her other shoots up to bury her talons in the females back. Claws biting in deep the creature let out a scream that was ultimately cut short as Akassa drove her face and chest first into the tiled floor. Sporting no finesse or fancy moves, the Queen dug her hand deeper to grip the Icejin's spine. With a violent jerk she snaps it, releasing the lifeless creature to collapse to a heap on the floor.
A dozen more came at Akassa and each fell with the same brutal efficiency, the rage burning within her only causing her to focus all the more. As the fifteenth simulated fighter took shape the Super Saiyan's chest was heaving. Several bruises and cuts were visible along her body, but she had no intention of stopping as long as she could stand. Ha-Ken still activated she was ready for the Saiyan when he came at her, able to block his fist jab with crossed forearms, the back of her gauntlets taking the blow. Moving a bit slower now she saw the hook coming for her side, but could not shift fast enough to block it, the fist digging into her ribs. Energy reserves getting lower and unable to tighten her muscles as much, she winces as what feels like a rib cracking sends pain spiking up her left side. Grunting on impact she lashes out with her own jab, catching the bastard square in the face. Still packing power, the blow was enough to snap his head back, blood erupting from his nose as he staggers.
Moving forward, arms up in a loose boxing stance to try and conserve energy, Akassa swings with her right. The hook was supposed to catch him in the side of the head and drop him to the floor, but instead his left shoots up to block it. A second later the male's right digs up into her naval, forcing air from the Queen's lungs. Staggering forward she goes to lean on him as the hand he had blocked her hook with grabs for a handful of her hair. Shifting some he moves to throw her with the grip, but pauses with a sudden lurch. Having used the stagger from the blow to get closer, Akassa had formed a blade of ki around the end of her tail, burying it in the male's stomach, stabbing up into a lung. With a cough, blood rolls out over his lips as he releases his grip on her golden locks, dropping to his knees as she steps back. A moment later the image fades…fifteen down.
Dropping to a knee, left side burning with each breath, she could feel her breathing was a little restricted. Trying not to damage the rib any further she resorts to taking shallow breaths, forcing herself to stand as a human male took shape a short distance away. Race didn't matter…more based on Resolute generating random models from its databanks than anything. In a way it reflected the Queen's sentiments about those that might threaten her home…it did not matter what race or what gender, all would fall. No creature would be allowed to take what was hers.
Staying upright was painful, but it didn't stop her from keeping her posture, left hand clutching at her left side. In a normal training session, one not backed by rage, she would stop to prevent further injury. What if the male across from her threatened Nasu or Maya's life? What if he had already beaten Toa to a pulp? Would she just stop then and surrender? No, she would make him suffer.
Resolute must have been unsure if continuing was wise, the newest simulation not having approached yet. However, when Akassa began to stagger forward, it burst into motion. Out matching the wounded Queen in terms of speed, it utilized Zanzoken to come in from the right then maneuver back to the front. Catching the half-saiyan across the jaw with a left cross it pressed its advantage as it grabbed for her shirt. Yanking her forward his elbow slams into the side of her head, releasing its grasp at the same time to allow her to go down. Akassa did not go down though, a little dizzy from the shot to the temple she staggers backwards, but stays on her feet. Following its orders Resolute continues its offensive maneuvers.
With a right legged snap kick the fighter kicks the Queen hard in her injured side, her arm doing little to soften the blow. Groaning out as the rib breaks completely, a wave of nausea rushes through her, Akassa feeling sick as she doubles over. The pain left her wide open for the human's next attack, the foot that delivered the snap kick settling down so that it's left knee can drive up under the Queens chin. Finally dropping to the floor, Akassa slams down on her back, the enhanced gravity yanking her down all the harder.
Hitting the tiles she feels another spike of pain shoot from the broken rib, left arm desperately grabbing at the injured side as if it would help the pain subside. Seeing stars from the shot under the chin, Akassa still attempts to raise, body straining to begin sitting up. Shaking its head slowly, probably an involuntary action expressing Resolute's thoughts, the male steps over the Queen and grabs for her shirt again. Pulling her up slightly, his other hand cocks back in preparation of driving it into the center of her face. It suddenly pauses though as the fighter blinks, the glow of a Ki visible around his neck. Sticking from his chin was the end of a Ki spike, three others embedded in his chest. Grinning with blood stained teeth Akassa groans as the simulation disappears and she slumps back to the floor.
Vision blurry as exhaustion begins to take her; the Queen felt her anger finally subsiding as her energy levels dropped. Eyes heavy she coughs roughly, tasting blood with each hack, no doubt an internal injury thanks to the broken rib. Never giving the order to end the simulation she would figure it out later when she awoke in a healing tank, respirator strapped over her mouth. The pain had faded, but the memory of her nightmare remained, as did the rage that promised pain to any that sought to make the dream a reality.
