His footfalls echoed through the large stone hallway as the Emperor of Beta Major made his way through the expansive palace to the training room. Guards and allowed visitors, dignitaries and guests, all roamed the palace, free to go about as they choose but under constant watch and surveillance at all times. It made Ninjin’s heart feel good to see the compound bustling with such activity and life. Still, they needed to be watched. He had learned his lesson on New Vegeta. Learned it in a very harsh manner during the attack. He was now more than ever a threat to the Universal Church of One, and who knew how many other enemies he had. And so he was diligent in his watch. There was nothing that went on in the royal compound, or much of Beta for that matter, that the Emperor did not know about. The still new palatial compound and the new PTO building was still the talk of much of Beta, and much of the Omega system as well, and the Emperor was allowing the people to visit as a show of good faith, and a show of force. So much had been shaken up recently, but things were definitely on the up-and-up for the kingdom.
The door to the training room slid open with a sigh and Ninjin stopped and turned to look at it. The engineers of the PTO were an odd bunch. They had installed such doors all over the new palatial complex and the new PTO building. Sighing doors… what was next a spaceship that could instantly teleport anywhere and turned people in sofas? Ninjin scoffed and chucked at his own imagination as he made his way to the center of the room.
Though he had not noticed her physically, the entire time he could sense his love awaiting him. When Aella stepped from the shadows Ninjin was surprised to see her in her combat gear. It brought a smile to his face, one that she returned. She smacked her fist loudly into the other and her tail whipped the floor hard. Three royal guards lay groaning around her and it was clear what had just occurred. Aella looked as if she hadn’t even broken a sweat.
“You summoned me my love?” Ninjin looked in amusement at the downed bodies. The sound of the Emperor’s voice snapped the guard’s attention. Despite having just been beaten down by the Icejin woman the guards still managed to make their way shakily to their knees and pressed their fists against their chest in salute. Ninjin saluted back and dismissed them. With groaning effort and support from each other they made their way out. Ninjin watched them leave and turned back towards the Icejin with an amused curious look.
“Despite having seen you train, you and I have not yet had the pleasure.” She said the words with a sly smile and smacked her hand into her fist. There was no mistaking the point of the statement. Ninjin chuckled.
“Are you so sure of that…?” Ninjin questioned with a sly smile of his own.
“Not at all what I had meant love.” She said bemused as she walked over to a panel on the side of the wall and began typing on a console that appeared. Ninjin’s eyebrow raised. Was Aella serious about sparring with him? She had seen his power, seen what he was capable of. It was not that he thought her weak, he had yet to meet anyone who could match the power he had.
“Are you sure about this?” She shot him a look that said she was very serious. Ninjin nodded and summoned his Armor of The Emperor to him. If his love was serious he was not going to deny her. Sparring was something he loved, and she was one he loved as well. There were few better ways to know someone than to fight them in his eyes and mind. Still he wanted her to know what she was getting herself in for. Aella shook her head in discouragement and displeasure at the sight of his armor.
“No, not that Ninjin. I know that Ninjin. I know that Ninjin very well.” The helmet peeled back from The Emperor’s head and there was no mistaking the look of confusion.
“The other armor.”
The Armor of The Emperor peeled away from himself entirely and suddenly his body felt weighed down by The Armor of Bubebolos. It had been quite some time since he had trained in this armor. Aella smiled and nodded. She continued to type at the console and suddenly the training room faded from around them. They were in a forested park. It was not a place that Ninjin recognized, but it filled him with peace all the same. Gas-lights lined a path that snaked through the park, illuminating the area in a soft glow. Tiny bugs blinked with bio luminesce.
“Better. A much more fitting place to fight a Saiyan Prince.” She smiled. Ninjin smiled amused and fell into his fighting stance. It was unusual to have the weighted armor on once again, having replaced it with the sleeker and more upgraded Armor of the Emperor version. The new one had fancy bells and whistles, but his heavy armor had served him well for years. The old armor fit like a well-loved memory.
The Emperor made his way to the center of a circle in the park and waited for the Icejin woman to join him. Soon, she did, and fell into a fighting stance of her own. It was snappy and fluid, evoking images of a praying-mantis. Ninjin was surprised to realize that he had never actually seen the woman fight before, and thus knew nothing of her style. It would be interesting. Despite not knowing how she fought, he had fought hundreds, and had fought legendary heroes and villains. This was not the average guard she was fighting.
“Ready?” With a nod it began.
Aella sprang from her position, at the same time that Ninjin moved from his. They collided and for the first few moments they tested each other. Feints and parries, blocks and blows. Each had a very distinct purpose of finding weakness in the other. Ninjin was clearly still the stronger of the two, even weighted down in his heavy weights and not transformed his power was great. Aella was no slouch either however, and was doing a surprising job of holding her own.
Ninjin knocked away a blow and kicked the Icejin female’s leg out from under her. She fell to the ground but used her momentum to spin and take out Ninjin’s own legs. The weighted armor helped bring him hard to the ground. The air left him with an “ooph.” The Emperor rolled backwards to his feet and found Aella up and coming at him again. Her hands cut through the air in the shape of knives. Ninjin dodged and ducked around them as they came at him.
“You’re really good.” The momentary lapse in concentration to admire his love cost him and a backhand caught him across the mouth and sent him staggering backwards. When he looked up Aella was glaring at him.
“Why did you say that surprised?” She rushed at him and flipped into the air. She moved with fluidity and grace. Her legs came down hard against Ninjin’s crossed arms. He threw her off and she once more gracefully flipped and landed in a fighting stance. She was still glaring.
“My love, I was trained by the best the Saiyan military had to offer, then by a master and a dragon who taught me to wield the power of a sun in a dimension removed from our own, and then by literal legendary great heroes in Heaven. I have trained and sparred with some of the best the universe has to offer. It was not a slight.”
She considered this and her glare fell from her face and was replaced with a smile.
“What’s say we make this interesting?” Her smile shifted up at the corners to a smirk.
Whatever she was thinking, Ninjin nodded in amusement. The Icejin woman began to change before his eyes. He had seen this form before, when Frigid had adopted it during their spar not too far from where they were now, but far removed in time. It was an impressive power increase that came with the form. Aella grew taller, broader, sleeker and more muscular. Her horns began to change as well, growing longer. It was her power that changed the most however. Frigid had not commanded such power. Ninjin’s jaw dropped as his love’s power skyrocketed past his own his in the heavy weights. Quickly he activated his True Power, but even still he was outclassed. It made him proud at the same time it shocked him. His love had more power than he had first believed. It was not an unpleasant surprise, but one he knew was about to cause him some pain.
The Saiyan barely had time to react as his love, now an Icejin in her Brute form, came at him with heavy handed blows. Ninjin scrambled backwards and tried to block, Aella was too strong and too fast. One fist caught him across the mouth, and another in the stomach. His body rocketed through the park and slammed against a gaslight lamp. The metal bent forwards and contorted wildly as his body slammed into it. The Saiyan tried to get his breath to come back to his body. His back and his ribs ached, even through the armor he was wearing. That was not something he had been expecting, but he supposed he deserved it for underestimating her.
Ninjin felt her hand wrap around the back of his neck and smiled as she lifted him from the form-fitting lamp post.
“Impressive. Very impressive.” He could only weakly cough it out, but there was no masking the pride. The Icejin female smiled at the words.
“Do you still find me beautiful?”
“Always.”
With that she threw him through the air once more. Ninjin spiraled and landed bringing up dirt and turf as he slid along. Aella was powerful. She had proven that to him. She was also a highly skilled fighter. Ninjin pushed himself up and activated his Ascended Super Saiyan form. The form brought a surge of adrenaline that masked the pain he had just been inflicted. Aella put her hands on her hips and stared at him.
“There is nothing I can do to match that.” The admittance caused the Saiyan to smile.
“I’m sorry my love, perhaps that is playing unfairly.” With that he let the form fade and held out his hand. The adrenaline gradually faded, but there was still another trick up his sleeve. A silver ball of ki formed there and Aella’s eyes widened as she recognized it. Ninjin launched it into the air and felt his body begin to change. His eyes widened and his iris shrank as his body began to react to the waves the moon ball was sending towards him. In mere moments where had once stood the Saiyan Emperor now towered the Great Ape of legend. Aella cracked her neck and whipped her tail into the floor.
“That’s more like it.”
“Do you still find me beautiful?” The words came out rough in his Oozaru voice, but there was no missing the playful nature.
“Always.”
They rushed at each other and a kinetic wave of force shot out at their meeting. Massive fists slammed against smaller Icejin ones, each time sending tremors of force through the night air. They continued to fight like this for hours. Every time the moon ball would fade they would wait for Ninjin to build up the energy to make another one and then would have at it once more.
At long last they stood panting and bloodied and bruised.
“You… You… were amazing.” The Saiyan said panting. He had returned back to his base form. The Saiyan laid down on the grass and the Icejin laid next to him. Sun trickled through the trees and simulated birds chirped happily despite the combat that had just occurred. Aella returned to her base form as well.
“You weren’t too bad yourself stud.” She said it with a wink.
Ninjin smiled and rested his hands behind his head, leaning into the grass and letting the stress fade out from him. It was an excellent release, and just what he had needed. Then again, there were few that knew him as well as the Icejin woman did, despite having only known each other for a short time. The Icejin wiggled her way towards him and rested her head on his shoulder.
“Marry me.”
She turned to him with a shocked look on her face. She supported her weight with her arm and looked down at him.
“What?!”
“Be my Empress. Marry me.”
The Icejin woman studied his face for a long moment, her mouth set in a line. It was as if she was searching for the cruel joke he was playing on her, but she would find only love in his eyes. At long last she nodded.
“Of course I will.”
They embraced and kissed passionately. Ninjin smiled as they pulled apart. There would be much excitement on Beta Major, and on Alpha Prime too no doubt. There was a royal wedding to prepare for.
