(I have permission to use Ninjin in this thread)
Shuffle, shuffle, shuffle. Smell. Deep breath. Turn head, unnatural angle. Blood drip. Blood drip. Blood drip out of mouth. Smell. Shuffle, shuffle, shuffle. Eyes look up, head still at unnatural angle. Blood drip. Eyes clouded over, still sensing something in the room. Mouth opens, teeth clacking together, biting at the open air. Shuffle, shuffle, shuffle. Hands find hair, teeth find flesh, ears ignoring the screams, passing the virus. And that’s how it all started.
*****
Truffle and Ninjin were flying in open space, a distress call from a ship that they had been monitoring had come out a few days ago, and they boarded a ship to respond immediately.
Truffle was thinking it was very interesting that Ninjin himself would go to find this distress call, but he couldn’t possibly ask about it. Something about it had spooked Ninjin in a way that Truffle couldn’t place his thumb on, and he turned to look at the stone faced Saiyan.
Ninjin had woken Truffle up quietly in the middle of the night, and held a finger to his lips. Truffle nodded, not that he would be making much noise in the first place.
The two of them walked out to the spaceship, Ninjin explaining on the way how the ship had sent the distress message, and that they were leaving immediately. Truffle looked toward the palace, the question of Aella on his mind. Ninjin would obviously have an explanation for that, but Truffle couldn’t ask, just send the emotion of confusion to Ninjin.
They pulled upon the ship, and found it in front of a massive planet. Truffle looked at Ninjin sharply.
The Hoyo had had no idea that there was even a planet in this sector of the galaxy, and from the look on the Saiyan Prince’s face, he did not either. In fact…Truffle had passed through this sector on his journey from Earth to Omega, and there had been no planet there.
The ship floated in the atmosphere of the planet. Truffle punched a button on the computer, and it scanned the ship for signs of life, but again from the feeling he got from Ninjin, he could tell that there were none.
Those that had been on the ship had either died….or gone down to a planet that should never have been there in the first place.

Something disturbing had happened. Something that was hard to imagine was even possible, let alone to have it actually occur. It had boggled the mind of the Saiyan Emperor of Beta Major. Somewhere from out in space a distress signal had come to him. It had been from Lilianna. The two had not been in much contact since Ninjin had returned to life and taken over Beta Major, the PTO, and the Icejin people. Ninjin had wondered if she had been upset to find out that he had a new love? They had long ago decided that their relationship was better off with them just being great friends and her helping him run the Iblisian kingdom.
Still Ninjin had suspected her to be on the world ship, not out somewhere in space. It was a matter that required his urgent attention, and his alone. Well, not completely alone. In the middle of the night Ninjin snuck into Truffle’s sleeping quarters and woke him with a finger over his mouth. Not that truffle would have been able to say much anyway, but he wanted to be sure that his friend understood that this was a matter of stealth. When they were out at the private royal space port Ninjin explained to Truffle the distress call and that they were going to go track it. Lilliana was a dear friend and a stalwart ally. This was not something he could ignore, nor could he trust anyone else with the matter that wasn’t busy with something else. So he and Truffle would tend to it. Truffle seemed confused, and Ninjin told him of the nature of the distress call.
Now they were aboard an Imperial ship headed towards wherever it was that the distress signal was coming from. Ninjin stood in stoic silence. It was possible that Lilliana was dead. He had come to accept death in an interesting way since he himself had died and gone to heaven. Was it possible that his friend too had made that journey?
Suddenly the ship was before them, and before it floated a looming giant of a world. Ninjin took in a breath of surprise. That ship was Iblisian, and there was no doubt in his mind that it belonged to Lilliana. They scanned the ships for signs of life, but there were none. Ninjin shook his head and stared at the planet before them. There wasn’t supposed to be a world in this sector. What was it doing there, and more importantly, was Lilliana alive down there somewhere? The scans of the planet showed that the atmosphere was not only life supporting, but one where life would thrive.
Ninjin looked from Truffle to the world and back.
“ I guess we’re going on another adventure buddy.”

”I guess we’re going on another adventure buddy.”
Truffle couldn’t help himself but to smile, and it was a large smile, spanning from where one of his ears should be to where the other ear would be if he had it. It had been a long time since the Hoyo and the Saiyan had been on an adventure, so long in fact that Truffle almost couldn’t put his finger on it. But he did remember…the last adventure they had had together was the adventure that had split the two of them up, sending them to different parts of the galaxy. Truffle had gone to take care of the orphans after taking on and killing Boisterous Humm, and Ninjin had gone on to have many adventures of his own.
Truffle looked over at the Saiyan Prince, and sent him the thought about them splitting up again. He knew what the Saiyan would say, but he couldn’t help but think that this time might end up similar to the last time. It wasn’t what he wanted, of course, but adventures with Truffle and Ninjin didn’t always end the way they planned.
”Master Truffle, shall I equip you with the armor now?”
Truffle heard Izquhr, and nodded his head. The armor flew around Truffle and equipped itself on him. He looked over at Ninjin and nodded the massive head of the armor. He pointed to the planet, as if to indicate that that’s where they should go.
”Master Ninjin, I have the feeling that Master Truffle wishes to go down to the planet and investigate. Perhaps without landing this ship.”
Truffle nodded, agreeing with Izquhr.
Truffle stepped into the landing pod, holding the door open for Ninjin.

The Hoyo smiled at Ninjin’s words. Ninjin could feel the happiness radiating off of his best friend and couldn’t help but smile himself. The thought of going on another adventure with the large blue alien was something that he had been wanting for quite some time. Truffle sent him a thought with a look and Ninjin shook his head vehemently.
“You and I are partners buddy. We’re not going to split up again.”
Suddenly the armor that Ninjin had given truffle swirled around his body and attached, giving the creature a bulky armored look. The ship had moved closer to the orbit of the planet, entering into the atmosphere. Truffle moved over to the landing bay door and swung it open, and then looked back at the Emperor. Izquhr announced the alien’s intentions and Ninjin nodded. The Armor of the Emperor was summoned to his body and Shield and Spike to his arms.
“Let’s do this buddy.” [/b][/I] Ninjin stepped from the ship and began rocketing towards the planet’s surface. It was unclear what they were going to find when they got down to the planet’s surface. Hopefully they would find Liliana quickly.

They stepped out of the ship together, rocketing toward the surface of the planet. Izquhr announced throughout the system that they were fast approaching the surface of the planet, but Truffle found himself feeling that that was kind of redundant, giving that his intention was to fastly approach the surface of the planet.
He looked over at Ninjin beside him and felt another stirring in his chest. He was happy that Ninjin was there with him, and that he didn’t have to investigate the surface of a strange planet all by himself. There were times, of course, that he had done that, but usually those times didn’t include a distress call from one of his master’s former lovers, and didn’t involve a possible massacre. This time, however, all of those things were on the table and Truffle found himself shaking inside the heavy armor, though if it were the atmosphere or the regular fear, he couldn’t tell.
They crashed into the planet, and Truffle found himself going underground by a few feet. It was probably the heft of the armor he was currently wearing, He pulled himself out of the crater to find Ninjin standing over it. His thoughts said something like “You’ll probably get used to that.”
Truffle looked around, and it appeared that they were in the middle of a city block. That itself shouldn’t be too unusual, but the fact that the planet shouldn’t have been there in the first place was a bit strange. To find what looked like a city, on a planet that nobody knew about was a little disconcerting.
Truffle looked around, and the suit scanned for signs of life. They didn’t show many, but there were a few scattered here and there, a sparse selection, drastically differing from what the city looked like.
Truffle looked to Ninjin as if to ask what was going on, but then stopped, and thrust his fist at the Saiyan. Ninjin moved just in time, and ducked out of the way, and Truffle’s fist went through the skull of something that had just been trying to bite the prince.
What had just been trying to bite the prince.

They rocketed towards the ground and Ninjin used his bukujutsu and his control over metal to pull up quickly and land in a three point stance. Truffle however had not been as graceful, and had slammed himself a few feet into the asphalt. The Emperor stood to his full height and looked around. They were in some sort of city, but the usual signs of life ever present were conspicuously absent. There were sparse ki signatures here and there… but something was definitely wrong. With great haste he made his way over towards where Truffle’s hole was as the blue alien was pulling himself out.
“You’ll get used to that.”
The hoyo took his turn to look around, and Ninjin could feel the confusion coming off of his bond as well. Then suddenly he turned and threw a fist at the Saiyan’s head. Ninjin ducked to the side and the hoyo’s fist slammed into a creature. One that had been about to try and take a chunk out of the Saiyan’s armor. Its skull blew-up in an explosion of gore.
“What was that!?”
The outburst was not about Truffle’s punch, but rather the very human looking creature whose skull had just exploded like a zip-lock bag of mashed potatoes. As they stood looking down at the thing something was very clear. Something was not right with this world.

Steam radiated off the man, though it wasn’t because his skin was hot. No it was quite the opposite. It was because the man looked like he was composed mostly of steam. He had royal blue steam, though fog might be a better descriptor for it, where his eyes should have been and darker blue fog where the rest of his body was. He strode through the hordes of the former living, and turned at each one that attempted to bite him with a look of contempt. A hard look to express with unmoving eyes and a lack of a mouth, but the man of fog managed somehow. The only things that he had adorned on his figure were a top hat and a bow tie, somehow floating around where his head and throat would be, if he had been corporeal.
One of the former living reached out with its face, attempting to bite into the man. It passed through him, and after it had done so, snapped its teeth together. They shattered together on impact, having been frozen to a cold so severe it froze everything that the former living had passed through him.
He turned and held his hand up to the former living. He reached into the undeads head, and gave it a bigger brain freeze than eating ice cream quickly could ever give you. Its brain shattered, and it dropped to the ground.
He smirked, another impossible feat without a mouth, but he managed. He would have done away with all of them if he could have, but that would have taken too much time, and he could tell…he was late for the meeting.
*****
Truffle stared in horror at the creatures shuffling around himself and Ninjin. They were both in suits of armor, so the creatures bites were not passing through to skin, but the fact that these human-looking creatures were attempting to bite them in the first place was very disturbing.
Truffle lashed his fists out, and smashed two more heads as if they were rotten jack-o’-lanterns that teenagers had thrown into the street.
Truffle looked at Ninjin, concern obvious on his face. What had happened to these people? And were any of them…still alive? Truffle didn’t know, but he was also concerned for Lilliana, the former friend of Ninjin. Was she still alive, or would Truffle find that his fist had exploded her head as well?
*****
He was dressed in armor that looked reminiscent of the crusaders. He swung his sword in an arc and took the tops off of heads of many of the unliving surrounding him. He knew he could keep it up for a while, but Tareth was in trouble.
Unless The Cold Man Of Nowhere, or another one of the heroes showed up…Tareth Apart would be himself, torn apart.

They were everywhere. Shuffling husks of what at one time Ninjin could guess had been humanoid creatures. There was no way that these were natural creatures. Something had happened here, happened to this world. What could bring Lilianna to such a place? And if Ninjin even could find her, would he like what he saw? This was a dear friend… what if she had turned into one of these things. The monster’s dull nails scratched uselessly against his armor. Their teeth broke upon the grey metal. The Emperor looked from the creatures to his bond.
Truffle’s fists came out and two of the thing’s heads were no longer attached to their bodies, which fell uselessly against the ground. More quickly took their place. Ninjin punched Spike through one of the things head as it shot out of his armor and attached to his arm. What was going on on this world? And where was his friend?
“We need to get off the ground and into one of these buildings. Get our bearings.”
His voice came out distorted through the helmet. It was metallic and robotic. If they could even understand the creatures gave nothing more than a low and pained moan. They did not seem to have power-levels, but it did not seem to matter. The danger was obviously not in their blows and bites. It was in whatever caused them to have their condition.
Ninjin spun in a circle giving himself some space and making sure not to hit Truffle. Then he grabbed the big blue alien and shot up into the air. Together they landed on the top of the building. The creatures did not follow, leading the Emperor to believe they probably lacked the ability to fly. He had looked back down at them when they had been flying up to the building. They had stared up at him, vacant black eyes filled with a primeval hunger.
“What the hell?!”
The outburst was accompanied by the Emperor shuddering. It had been disgusting, and blood and gore still covered his armor. Truffle’s armor was covered as well. The armored Saiyan stalked back over to the edge of the building and peered down. He saw something that he wasn’t expecting to. Far below, a figure seemed to be fighting the creatures. Not far off another figure was moving through the crowd of things, they seemed to not be effecting him in any way. If Ninjin had to guess that had to do with the steam radiating off of him, visible even at the distance. In fact Ninjin wasn’t sure if there was anything more to the blue creature than steam, it seemed to be entirely composed of it. It was heading towards the other figure, but if Ninjin’s years of combat and training had taught him anything it was the ability to read a battle. The blue creature would not make it in time, if its intention was to help.
“We need to help that figure. Perhaps it’s Lilliana.”
