In an organization of the nature of the one Ethan was constructing, security is the highest priority and the teen knew this. It had been the reason for his choice of housing, a houseboat, a mobile base of operations from which he could broadcast and not be tracked. Now that same need for security was dictating the system of communication he was putting in place on the inter-web. Anonymous TOR based browsers would form the backbone of online communications while dead drops and personal pass codes would serve for the transfer of physical materials and messages. With almost two weeks of solid work under his belt in his new, clandestine occupation, Ethan was noting he had quite the gift for managing the secrecy of his organization and even more pleasingly that many, many people wanted to help in any way they could. His broadcasts had done what they needed to do and preserved the hope of the Human race and now that hope was coming back to him in the form of thousands rallying to the dark corners of the inter-web in order to join his organization.
Names like Mr. Smith and Mr. Jones and Mr. Doe were regulars in the in-person meetings while any name anyone wanted to use were used in online communication. In addition, secret codes were being arranged and a code book of sorts constructed. Of course no single member of the organization would have the entire code and it would be changed on a regular basis to prevent cracking. All of this was to prevent anyone from either turning coat and betraying the whole organization, or being captured and the same occurring. Some might think the system was ruthless as no attempt would be made to save captured members, but Ethan understood from his reading of history and just from their precarious position alone, that such measures were necessary. An organization such as this could not take the risk of losing more members just to rescue one or two, in that all members understood, were they to be captured, they were on their own and further more, they were permanently cut off. Anyone captured by the enemy would be considered a potential threat and any attempt they made at communication would only be met with silence. That is to they would not be silenced, simply ignored, the Resistance might be many things but they were not murderers, that was the sole domain of the Saiyan invaders. Compromised members would simply be cut loose and should they manage to free themselves, would be free to resume their normal lives, they however would never again be granted contact with the organization no matter how tantalizing the information they may present.
Information was now starting to flow in and what Ethan saw troubled and delighted him. The crater that once was Central City was going to be rebuilt, no doubt at great cost to the Human population and in the typical garish Saiyan architectural style. On the other hand, while costly to the human populace, this seemed like the perfect target for his more mischievous attention. With human labor being conscripted into virtual slavery to build and obnoxious edifice to the Saiyan invaders, Ethan had the perfect opportunity to lace the entirety of the new city with the mechanism of his spy ring. As with any large construction project, there would be many, many workers and never would anything close to a majority of them be watched at any time. This of course meant that workers sympathetic to the Earth had plenty of time each day to plant any number of devices in any building they wished. Further, the very infrastructure of the city would be Ethan’s to toy with as none of the Saiyans bothered themselves with the fine details, they were all after all “Mighty Warriors” and wouldn’t sully their hands with filthy ledgers nor waste their time with minor construction details.
With his organization’s tendrils firmly worming their way into the very fabric of the new city’s construction, Ethan would be in a position to deal the invaders embarrassment after embarrassment, harassment after harassment and inconvenience them at every turn. He would have detailed plans of every utility, every building and every access tunnel. Offices, computers and telephone systems would be bugged and give the boy access to everything he needed. With the security of the TOR system, even if one or more of the compromised computers were noticed, they could never be used to track where the data was being sent, especially since the final destination was always in motion, never in any one place long enough to be tracked down. More thrilling and ironic was that because of the great cost of the construction project and the infiltration of his agents into the construction companies, funding for their organization’s material needs would be easy to come by and difficult for anyone to notice. The irony that was truly spectacular was that the Saiyans would be funding the very organization dedicated to removing them from the Earth and their very construction project would be used to spy and harass them. Frankly it would have been a smarter move for the Saiyan’s to leave the crater alone and occupy another city, but Ethan wasn’t about to interrupt an enemy when they were making a mistake, it was after all bad manners.
