Banduk Gundu II picked up his small bag of personal belongings and slung it loosely over his shoulder. He was traveling light, mostly because of his ability to instantaneously summon items from his home. If he really needed something, it was always possible to get it, but there were a few objects that he didn't want to leave home. A change of clothes, some scalp polish and his favorite bath salts. There was nothing like a relaxing soak in hot water that smelled like the beautiful Eldriak flower...
Shaking those thoughts from his mind, Banduk took one last look around his small house and sighed. He was going to miss the planet, even if the trip would only be a few days long. The Galactic Tournament... The very name was somewhat foreboding. If Zex's message was accurate, then this tournament was going to host a incredible amount of spectators, and the competitors would be among the most skilled in the universe. Would the Namekian Grand Elder-to-be really stand a chance? He would soon find out, now that he was finished packing his things. He stepped out of his house and looked around smiling at the hustle and bustle of the average Guru Village morning routine. The townspeople were busy preparing to go out and tend to their fields and gardens, and many of them offered a friendly wave to Banduk. Still, something was off, as it had been for the past couple of weeks. A small silver orb was gently gliding along the paths that twisted throughout the village. At first, the villagers were unwelcoming towards this foreign invitation, but they soon learned to just ignore it. The metallic sphere repeated Zex's message over and over again throughout the day, hoping to spread the word as much as possible about the Galactic Tournament. Banduk Jr. remembered his first encounter with the strange orb like it was yesterday...
With a deep breath, Banduk tried his best to ease the pain in his rib cage. With one hand on his side, he grimaced, knowing that it would take a while for this to heal, but that's what happened when training with Nohkan took a turn for the unexpected. It was a particularly rough day of training, and of course, Banduk was no where near the level of skill required to pose a challenge for the Warrior Clan's leader. It was disappointing to work so hard for so little. If only there was some way to get enjoyment out of fighting, to find an even match to really give Banduk something to strive towards...
At that moment, something caught the young pupil's eye. A subtle glitter in the distant sky, as if something metallic was casting a reflection against the ground below. The object was soaring downward, closer to where Banduk himself was standing. Curious (and somewhat concerned) about what the object might be, Banduk sped up his flight to intercept the thing. Thankfully, the orb didn't collide with the surface, instead quickly coming to a stop and hovering in the air a few feet off the ground. This particular orb landed in a small field, where some farmers were working on their crops. The people were a bit frightened by the orb, but Banduk urged them to be calm.
Soon, the sphere played its message for the first time, informing Banduk of a certain tournament that would be fought in some distant region of the galaxy, at a place known as Alpha Prime. Was this the challenge Banduk had been hoping for? It seemed far too convenient to be a mere coincidence. No, this was a stroke of great fortune, a sign of sorts. He HAD to participate now, there was no way he could pass this up. Though he was nervous about what awaited him, Banduk was also eager to see the kind of competition he would be up against. Not only was this a great opportunity to fight some interesting individuals, but it was also a good chance to see just how diverse the galaxy was. He had read many books about the different races throughout the universe, but to see so many in person... It sounded grand.
And so, Banduk returned to the village to alert the Grand Elder, and began preparing for his first martial arts competition...
Now, Banduk was on his way to the space transport station located on the border of Guru Village. Namekians normally didn't have much reason to leave the planet, so the small port consisted of only one ship. While certain small transport vessels did arrive periodically, they usually just carried Namekians back home from wherever they had gone. Now, Banduk was boarding the lone ship, letting the pilot know where he was headed. He let the pilot know that Zex would pay the price for transport, and within a few moments, the ship was on its way. A few close friends of Banduk waved up at him as he departed, sending them their wishes for victory. Though Banduk's manner of thinking was more realistic in that he didn't expect to make it very far in the tournament, his fellow villagers thought otherwise. They wholeheartedly believed that their Grand Elder's student would make it all the way to the top.
With a smile, Banduk waved back, turning to sit properly once he was high up enough so that he could no longer see the villagers waving. He made sure to say goodbye to Pitka, Nohkan, Batto, and even Cudikyl before he'd left. Those individuals in particular were responsible for shaping Banduk into the respectable young Namekian that he was. They were his closest allies and dearest friends, and he was determined to make them proud.
After several hours of flight, the small ship finally made it to Alpha Prime. The Omega Collective was a strange place to behold, with many small settlements dotting the asteroids that orbited Crixus-7. Alpha Prime was the most notable. It was lit up in a bright orange, and seemed to be buzzing with life. Transport ships were flowing in and out of the large ports, including the one Banduk himself was sitting. The docking process didn't take too long, and Banduk was soon free to make his way over to where he was to sign up for the tournament. After arranging his pilot's payment, he found his way to the registration area, gazing around at the various aliens all the while. He told the clerk his name, and of the invitation sent to him. His identity was quickly registered among the other contestants, whose names and races were still unknown to him.
The day ended with Banduk being shown to a small room where he would be allowed to live during his stay. Though it wasn't particularly large, it was very luxurious. It seemed like a room only the most wealthy people would pay for. Zex certainly wanted to treat his guests properly, it seemed. Now, all that was left to do was to wait for the tournament to officially start. Banduk spent a majority of his time meditating and preparing himself for what was to come, carefully honing his senses to be at their peak condition for his first match.
