All of the seventy-two fighters stood in one large room. The preliminary rounds before the actual tournament begun were scheduled to begin in just a few minutes. Each fighter preparing for their fights in their own way. The roar of the audience in the stadium was audible even in this room. It gave Leke the jitters - thinking fighting in front of thousands upon thousands of people. Some of the guys looked nervous, others looked like they were born ready. A particular two, two aliens with odd blue skin, who Leke could sense were probably about as strong as Akassa; so much stronger than him. Leke cursed himself. If he had to fight either of them... No, he couldn't put the thought of losing in his mind. Mind over matter.
Leke was called to a side door by a strange voice, as well as a rugged-looking man apparently named "Hatchet" that looked almost just like a Saiyan, except he was bald and had no tail. He was also a bit weaker than Leke. An Earthling. Leke had never seen one in person, having never been to Earth like his brother and father had. He thought to himself that they looked funny as the two walked into another room... Which was not even another room, it was outdoors. The roar of the stadium was even louder now, sending a chill through the prince's spine.
The Colliseum Immortal was quite a sight. He had seen it before when the fighters were allowed to tour the ring and were explained of the feature which prevented stray blasts from going into the stands. Ninjin had grinned at that. He wouldn't hold back even if it was there, Leke figured he was thinking. However, there was almost nobody in the stands then. Today, tens of thousands had gathered in the enormous galactic battle arena. Seventy-two gladiators to duke it out to figure out who was number one. So many had gathered to see the fights, the brawls, the curbstomps, and the bloodbaths that would take place in the coming days. Leke let loose a deep sigh. He had to calm down, take this one fight at a time. Don't worry about the crowd, or Ninjin, or Father, he thought to himself. Somehow, that didn't calm him in the slightest. His Saiyan urges were fighting to take control of him and get a move on with his battle already.
The announcer talked briefly to Leke and Hatchet about the rules - no maiming, mortally wounding, or killing mainly - before stepping up onto the giant tiled square. He yelled into his microphone for all of the hundreds of thousands watching this, from the arena or on television, "Ladies and gentlemen!! The first preliminary rounds are underway, starting with these two here today. Leke Hattori, the youngest son of the King of Saiyans!" Leke stepped up onto the tiled square, getting a minor yell from the Saiyan group of onlookers. He was popular, but not as much as Ninjin was. Some cheered just because he was royal blood, others because he had helped them in some way - he had the tendency to do that - and others still just because they wanted to see the fight already. He did not raise a hand to hail them, preferring to just get this fight over with.
Leke took his corner and stretched by himself as the announcer turned to the Earthling and yelled into his microphone, "Versus, Hatchet from Earth!!" The bald man stepped onto the ring, looking every bit as calm as Leke wanted to be. The prince watched as the Human stepped to his own corner and bowed to him, customary before a martial arts match. Leke grinned, much like his older brother did often - he supposed he just picked up on it from him - and bowed in turn, before assuming an aggressive fighting stance. The announcer grinned widely as he saw the two fighters raring to go. Great, he thought. He'd gotten the right two to start off the preliminaries. He quickly jogged off of the ring and looked out to the stadium.
"Ready?! Let the fight begin!!" he yelled, the microphone's signal amplified to the stadium speakers. The stadium erupted in a roar as Leke and Hatchet charged at each other upon being given permission to begin battle. Leke was hoping to get this battle done quickly without showing any techniques. He didn't even know if Humans could use ki techniques, beyond basic ones if they were lucky enough to be able to do that.
It turned out that his initial thoughts of this Human being weak were wrong. Despite him having a lower power level, Hatchet kept up with him swing-for-swing in hand-to-hand combat. Fists and feet flew and were blocked and returned as the two combatants each tried to gain an advantage. Eventually growing bored of the struggle, Leke charged a blast of ki in the palm of his right hand as he brought it up, and launched it just before he punched. The man stepped back to avoid the punch, seemingly unworried about the surprise attack just launched at him. The attack dissipated just inches from his body.
"What?" Leke muttered aloud. His momentary confusion granted Hatchet a free knee right into the Prince's gut, making him keel over. How did that attack just... Fail like that? he thought to himself. Before the Earthling could hope to capitalize on his small victory, the teenager rolled backwards and flipped himself back onto his feet. He peeked backwards and figured he still had at least ten feet behind him. He had to make sure he didn't step out of the ring on accident.
Anyways, he thought, what the H.F.I.L. did that guy do to just absorb his attack like that? Leke roared and then swung wildly at him again, his anger getting the better of him. Still calm, the Human worked his body to the extreme to barely defend against the sudden onslaught. He managed to only take a few glancing blows to his body, not doing any serious damage on him. The man got in his own punches on Leke, and the two broke apart for a few seconds.
Leke had enough of this. He brought his hands together above his head and charged a powerful ball of ki. The man in front of him only grinned and stood still. Whatever he had done before he would probably do again, but Leke didn't care. He would just go through whatever he did with raw power! Leke dropped his arms in front of him and blasted a beam straight towards the Human. The beam collided with something in front of the Earthling and soon exhausted the attack. Hatchet laughed it off; Leke was standing even more confused than before. What was going on? How did he just stop his blast? That was almost a full-power attack!
The Earthling, believing he had an advantage and wanting to hopefully push his clearly-stronger opponent off the edge, siezed the moment by rushing forward at Leke. The prince's response was to jump high in the air and toss a barrage of ki blasts at the Earthling. It seemed as though one hit him before the rest were deflected. The moment where the man was stunned by having to focus on not running off of the edge had let his guard down. Good, Leke thought, so there was a way around the damned technique that prevented him from blasting him away with ki.
Leke roared and ascended to his full power. He had Akassa to thank for helping him tap into his full strength at will. In a particularly vicious spar with her, his mixture of emotions that summoned his strength and then maintained it, allowed him to get a better understanding of his true power. Thus, his ability to turn it on and off at will. A red-and-gold aura erupted around the prince, bringing a roar of applause from the crowd. They believed he would win, even without their ki attacks. Leke hoped to prove them right.
The Earthling looked at the Saiyan, wide-eyed. What power he possessed! He knew he had no chance of even keeping up with this guy anymore. But if he returned to his girlfriend having given up... How could he face her? She couldn't know how strong he really was, she couldn't sense what he did. So he stood, ready to defend against whatever he threw at her. Leke grinned wickedly and cupped his hands together, forming a giant ball of ki in his hands. The Earthling could sense that this attack was way more powerful than his Barrier techniques he had used before could stop. It would help, but in no way would he be protected from massive damage. He looked to the announcer, hoping to get him to call a DQ or something against Leke, or to get him out of there so he wouldn't die, but the announcer was just staring up at the red ball of ki still growing in size in front of the prince.
Leke laughed, almost maniacally, his Saiyan urges and blood almost taking over his normally passive attitude. "How about you BLOCK THIS?!" he roared as he finished charging his ultimate attack and fired it as a beam towards the ground, towards Hatchet. The Earthling could only throw his hands out in front of him and form a barrier, and pray to his God that he would survive. The attack smashed through the Human's defenses and pushed him out of the ring with ease, sending him into the wall holding up the front row of a seating section, cracking it. Surprisingly, the ring took little damage from his attack. The crowd was dead silent, wondering if they had just witnessed a murder.
The man, area, and Leke's hands all steamed from the release of the pure energy he had sent. He reverted back to his normal power and slowly descended, his boots clicking on the tiled ring as he dropped down onto it. Leke looked at the man, and then at his hands. He blinked. Had he really done that? What had gotten into him? He almost killed the man! The Hattori prince knew that the man had not died, and was only unconscious, and this fact soon became evident to the whole galaxy as medics rushed over to him and checked his pulse, seeing that he was in fact alive.
The announcer shakily stepped onto the ring, slowly approaching Leke. The youngest prince looked at the announcer with a nonchalant demeanor and then faced the majority of the Saiyans seated. He rose his fist in the sky as the announcer yelled into the mic, "We have a winner!! Leke Hattori!!" The crowd erupted again in applause and yelling. They had loved that fight, as short and as devastating as it was. They wanted more.
And more this tournament would get them, Leke believed. He slowly walked off of the ring, not checking up on the man, simply returning to the room he had exited only twenty minutes prior. He brushed off dirt from his armor, frowning at a small crack in it, and would greet Ninjin and Akassa before watching the next fights on the televisions in the room.
