3:12 Until Match
The electronic sign was counting down on a board at one end of the room. It was programmed to count down in a large variety of languages and numeric formats, and was currently set to do so in the common tongue of Banduk's quadrant of the galaxy. Namekians primarily spoke this language as opposed to their own native one, as they were a friendly species who enjoyed communication with others. Earth was another world that spoke this very language, which was referred to as "English" by the humans. The timer was counting down until the time when Banduk was to make his way outside and step into the arena to face his opponent, Toshiro Rei.
Toshiro... Banduk didn't know much about this man other than his appearance. All competitors were given an opportunity to view their opponents before a match, but Toshiro's fighting style and mannerisms were still a mystery to the Namekian Elder-in-training. It would be a tough fight at first, one where the Namekian would have to adapt quickly in order to most effectively combat Toshiro's fighting tactics. He was already done planning his strategy, and was now going over it in his head. "Keep up your defense at first, watch his movements... Learn his habits, adapt... Don't be hasty..." he told himself as he meditated in the center of the room, controlling his breathing and deserting all worldly distractions. Only one subject was on his mind: The preparation to win.
1:43 Until Match
The counter informed Banduk as he slowly opened his eyes, exhaling once more as he wrapped up his meditation session. He stood up from the floor and took another controlled breath, making sure to make a habit of steady breathing for when the fight started. Poor breath control was a common mistake among rookies, and one that Banduk wasn't about to make. He removed his long, white robe and tossed it aside, having already stripped himself of his traditional purple tunic. This left him in a pair of lightweight trunks that reached his ankles without draping over his feet. They were designed to maximize leg movement at the sacrifice of comfort, but Banduk had already gotten used to the scratchy fabric. They were moderately durable, able to withstand several fights, but eventually needed to be replaced. Luckily, they were inexpensive to produce, making for the idea training garb.
Now in his shirtless attire, Banduk began the final preparations for his fight. He rolled his neck a few times to loosen it up, then got to stretching his arms by crossing them over his chest and pulling. His legs and torso were stretched to avoid soreness during the fight, and to make sure his attacks were as swift and efficient as possible. Once he was stretched, he entered a loose fighting stand and threw a few quick jabs, alternating them with right-handed power punches. He kicked a few times as well, getting warmed up for when he would have to use them against Rei.
0:36 Until Match
Banduk was almost done warming up when a knock was heard at the door to his waiting room. Without waiting for an answer, a man opened the door and looked at Banduk. "Be ready. I will soon escort you to the arena." the man said in a monotonous voice, seeming to be the type of individual who was strictly there for business. Banduk nodded and continued throwing light attacks, warming up his muscles so that they were fully prepared to be used to their fullest potential. The continued for the remainder of his preparation time, until the timer on the wall beeped. The man at the door looked at the clock, then at Banduk. "Please come with me. The match will now begin." he said to the Namekian, who nodded with determination.
The two walked down the hall, Banduk only a few feet behind his guide. The Grand Elder's pupil was a bit nervous, not knowing how strong his opponent would be. He could hear the muffled cheers of the crowd outside growing louder and louder as he approached the light at the end of the mechanical tunnel. He was still breathing deeply and controlled, tightening his muscles slightly so that they wouldn't become too lax. He wanted his senses to be sharp as ever as soon as he stepped into the arena, so he did his best to ignore the crowd outside.
Banduk heard his name, prompting him to officially make his entrance. He stepped out of the tunnel, squinting his eyes from the bright lights of the illuminated stadium. He looked around at the audience, who was loudly cheering for him and his opponent. He felt no need to greet them, since he wasn't here for fame or attention. He was there to make his people proud, and to ignite his desire to fight.
"Take the honor of being Namek’s champion and see if you can find the spirit of battle within yourself."
The Grand Elder's words rang through Banduk head, clear as a bell. He was eager to get the match started, now. Eager to show the crowd what a real Namekian warrior could do...
Suddenly, however, his keen ears picked up a familiar noise among the mass of people. He stopped just before stepping up onto the stairs, his antennae twitching slightly as he tried to locate the voice among the vast spectators. He blinked when something green caught his eye... Two Namekians in the front row, looking right at him. The smaller of the two was Banduk's self-proclaimed biggest fan, the young boy from his village. It was that boy who asked every day how Banduk's training was going, and when he might finally rise to be Namek's guardian. The sight of the young boy triggered something inside Banduk, something passionate and hopeful.
Without thinking, Banduk raised his fist above him as he stared back at the young lad, who was grinning wildly as he cheered louder. The crowd roared eagerly in response to Banduk's gesture, though some of them booed him, obviously being fans of his opposition. Not paying any mind to those people, Banduk stepped onto the stone stairs that ascended onto the large platform, dropping his arm to his side as he made his way onto the stage where he would make that boy proud.
Finally, he was face to face with Toshiro, who had already made it onto the platform thanks to Banduk's short delay. Standing in opposite corners of the arena, the two were a distance away, but they could both make out the other's expression. Banduk took a deep breath and stepped forward, wanting to say a word to his opponent before the match started. He hoped that Toshiro would accept the gesture and walk forward as well, but he was unsure if the black-haired martial artist was that good of a sport.

The atmosphere in the waiting room was intense, the preliminary rounds were over and the people standing around him were the ones who had made it into the main tournament. It was quite a variety of different alien species, some he recognised and others he found foreign in their ki presence. It would take some time to get himself familiar with these new energy signatures, because he was sure by the time this was over, some may end up being allies or even enemies in future. “Most of them are even stronger than me, and they’re probably suppressing their power as well” Toshiro thought to himself, sizing his opponent in first impression looks and their ki. It was slightly overwhelming; such a tournament on a universal scale was in a league on its own compared to typical tournaments back home on Earth.
But his primary focus this round was on Banduk, the Namekian. He had seem some before in passing but never managed to get to know or befriend one, however he did have enough knowledge from what Earth’s history noted. These were peace loving people with a sense of justice, they were spiritualists, and from that he could find himself somewhat related to them on some common ground. However, he couldn’t really assume, they were as versatile as humans, he did hear about a warrior class somewhere. “Chances are he might be more adept at my specialties with ki, I guess I really wont’ know until we fight…” he wondered at the hardships he might have to face, but such an unknown challenge was also exciting for him.
He took in deep breaths to calm himself down as he started overthinking the possibilities; there was no time to get anxious yet. But right when he was almost done reassuring himself of that, the loudspeakers called for their match, that made his heart drop before racing, wasn’t the greatest feeling in the world. The crowd going wild already didn’t help his nerves, they had already been quite pleased with previous matches, which had risen the bar of their expectations, they wouldn’t be happy if the next match wasn’t better than the last they saw.
With a determined look, Toshiro refastened his red headband and wristbands before walking out of the waiting room. Really, did they really have to make things so nerve racking? He already felt somewhat sick as he walked up those steps to his side of the platform, just further weighing the expectations. He could feel a slight breeze from the outside against his white gi as he almost reached the top of the steps, and then it hit him. There were so many people, all eyes were on him and the fight to come, he couldn’t afford to disappoint!
“Watch me , sensei. The whole universe will know of the student you mentored, I’ll leave my mark on the audience. I’ll give them a show to remember!” He vowed in his mind as he looked around at the crowd, it was unfortunate he didn’t have anyone he knew in the crowd watching him, but he was sure his teacher was watching his match back at him and telling him to give it his best.
The crowd rose in noise levels at his opponent’s gesture as he made his way up, the Namekian sure knew how to get them all pumped. He could tell the guy would be quite a sport, further confirmed as he stepped forward; of course it wouldn’t be right if they didn’t exchange some friendly words before their match. “Pleased to meet you Banduk,” Toshiro greeted his opponent politely with a slight bow, all courtesies taught by his master, no matter what kind of culture his opponent was accustomed to, such a gesture was surely universal. ,
“Looks like you got them all riled up, so let’s enjoy ourselves and give them a good fight. Agreed?” He said in encouragement, though really he was more saying that to himself so he wouldn’t give in to the pressure his nerves were putting on him, he hoped the heat of battle would put that off. In a more personalised gesture being a former teenager, he extended a fist out for his opponent to tap his own fist against, it was like a handshake but he figured that was more fitting for after a match. It was a mutual agreement of fairness and good sportsmanship, a calm gesture before the storm to come.

Banduk took step after calm step toward his opponent, analyzing the person's appearance and ki signature. It wasn't as high as his, but was that only because Toshiro had the ability to suppress his energy? Banduk was fully aware of such techniques, but had yet to try mastering them. He figured that more practical skills were required before moving on to the kind that hid his strength. Still, the Namekian continued walking until he and Toshiro were mere feet away from each other. The young human had long, black hair that was held in place with a pony tail and a headband. He had standard martial arts clothing from the looks of it, and seemed nice and fit for battle. Banduk was glad his opponent was willing to meet him in the center of the ring, but would the pleasantries exchanged between them be positive ones? Or would they be words of poor sportsmanship?
A smile appeared on Banduk's lips. It appeared that Toshiro was the kind of man to wish his foe a good match for the sake of sport instead of a bloody fight to the death. Toshiro expressed his pleasure in meeting Banduk, who just had to respond similarly. He offered a short nod of his head, but saved the bow for when it was most needed. "Likewise. I've looked forward to finally speaking with you for some time, now." the Namekian said, wanting Rei to know how glad he was to finally meet his first real opponent. "I agree, though this match won't be just for fun. I'm going to give it my all, and I hope you'll honor me by doing the same." he said with a grin.
In the Warrior clan, it was common knowledge that in order to fully respect your opponent, you must give them the honor of fighting you at your fullest. It's rude to go easy on a fellow fighter in a real match, even if their strength is lower than your own. No, Banduk was going to fight at his fullest, no matter how Toshiro fared against him.
Banduk watched as Toshiro raised his hand and curled it into a fist, holding it out towards him. He didn't personally understand this gesture, as it wasn't nearly as common on Namek than it was on Earth, but after watching for just a moment, he knew exactly what it was the young man wanted. Banduk had seen the gesture among his fellow warriors, and after smiling at Rei, the green Elder-in-training lifted his own fist, pressing it firmly against his opponent's. With that, Banduk leaped backwards about ten feet and took a breath, his eyes turning slightly to once again glance at the crowd. They were demanding that the fight begin, so without further adieu, the bow came. A low, respectful bow that Banduk always made sure to employ just before he started a fight.
Having shown the mandatory gesture of respect to his opponent, Banduk slid his right foot back and tilted his body clockwise, dropping into a fighting stance. He raised his hands and put them into loose fists, his right hand close to his chest while the left was held a bit farther from his body, similar to how a boxer would stand. His plan was to watch Toshiro's fighting patterns closely, so he stood perfectly still and allowed Rei the first move. Banduk took one last breath and focused, silencing the roaring crowd around him. His mind was quiet, at peace... Ready to fight.
Then, the arena rang. The fight began.

“Heh, I wouldn’t have it any other way.” Toshiro agreed with a grin of his own, he was glad such a friendly exchange was calming him plenty, it was almost like they were old friends about to spar after some time apart. While their fists made contact, he could get a better grasp at his foe’s power, and he knew it would probably be a challenge, what he was sensing was a little above his full power.
It seemed they thought alike when they took their stances; the human had crouched down and clawed his hands after they leapt back to their starting positions. With one foot and hand in front of the other, he focused on his opponent and wondered if he’d make the first move.
“Huh?”
Toshiro found himself surprised at the boxing like stance, a far cry from the spiritualist monk like approach he imagined his opponent to be at first impression. Did it mean he was a warrior class Namekian? he knew their fight style could be quite brutal. but really, he wasn’t one to judge yet. He will soon find out once the fight started, and it looked like he was left to move first. “I respect the offer, but you may live to regret it later.” He stated to the Namekain in warning as the human started to release his full power, he didn’t feel there was any need for warm ups with the brief talk earlier.
His aura emerged from his body in a form of light green like mist that rose from his skin almost like it was burning, it then suddenly flickered and solidified into a full blown aura that spiked upwards. The aura tilted forward along with him as he lowered his body, with his dominant hand now touching the ground as if he was readying a sprint.
“Here I go!”
With that said, the young human launched forward at full speed, feet just barely above the ground with use of flying with his ki. Light green blades energy suddenly shot out from Toshiro’s knuckles as he got in close, it aimed straight for Banduk’s feet in an attempt to pin it in place, though it also acted as a way to lift himself off the ground. He would quickly use the leverage to spin himself around and throw a heel at his Namekain’s face to knock him back, while forcefully dragging the foot too, if not the ground near it. “RARH!” With a primal yell, the man would then dig the ki extensions deeper into the ground briefly and then throw a fierce upwards slash with the ki claw with such immense force that it also sent out the chipped arena ground shooting along with it. He hoped Banduk was still within range then.

Toshiro wasn't mistaken in being surprised by Banduk's stance. It was true that many less powerful fighters on Namek took a more graceful fighting stance, comparable to Kung Fu on Earth, that would remind the average individual of a monk or priest. However, Banduk's training was rough. The Namekians he sparred with weren't your typical spiritualists, they were ruthless. A rugged style of fighting was born in the Warrior clan, as opposed to the Healer clan's more delicate form. He's been trained to keep a tight guard, and always be ready to attack at a split-second's notice. To do that, his arms had to be wound up like a spring, prepared to lash out in a flurry of punches as soon as he saw an opening.
Banduk saw his opponent charge, a green aura exploding out of him just seconds before the attack. Toshiro's power immediately shot to a much higher level, making Banduk nod inwardly. "I see..." he thought to himself, still remaining cautious, as he wasn't sure if this was the full extent of Toshiro's power. In preparation to defend against the tiger's assault, Banduk's own aura began to shimmer and swirl from his feet upward, solidifying in much the same way as Toshiro's as it then spiked upward and echoed throughout the arena, signalling Banduk's own ascendance to his fullest potential. The crowd went wild in anticipation for the exchange of blows, and they were about to finally get what they wanted.
Banduk noticed something appear on Toshiro's hands... Small, bright green objects that were conjured up to serve as claws. It seemed the young man was talented in the control of his own ki, and was capable of condensing it into a solid state. The human drew closer and finally began his attack, which surprisingly aimed for Banduk's foot. The Namekian's reflexes and instinct were good enough to allow his foot to slid out of the way in time, ending up just inches to the left of Toshiro's hands, which were now stabbing into the ground using the claws. The young human then used his hands to lift his lower body into the air, spinning his body and throwing a wide kick to Banduk's head. While the Namekian was able to block it, the force caused him to step back a few feet, giving Toshiro room to end his combination attack. Rei broke a tile that made up the floor of the ring, slinging a slab of hard stone toward Banduk. He was certainly with range, being only five feet away or so. He was forced to take action in order to avoid damage from the projectile, letting out a loud grunt as he raised his back knee toward the tile, pivoting on his front foot and delivering a knee strike to the stone, blocking most of the damage and breaking the object in half.
While he suffered a few bruises after that attack, Banduk wasn't damaged nearly enough to stop him from returning with a counter. "He's resourceful, and knows how to keep me occupied..." Banduk observed as he charged forward, giving Toshiro just enough time to get on his feet before receiving Banduk's attack. The Namekian threw several quick punches with both hands, alternating between left and right. While they were quite fast, they certainly didn't lack in power. The difference in the two fighters' strength would become apparent at this point, and after wearing down Toshiro's defense with punches, Banduk ended the simple combo by throwing a wide left hook. The fist would be slower than the others, allowing Toshiro plenty of time to put up a proper defense... But it was a feint. The left hand stopped just before impact, and was replaced with a wickedly fast right straight that was aimed right at Toshiro's face. If all went well, Toshiro would be simply unable to properly defend against the attack, unless he saw through Banduk's fake punch.

“No way… this power, it triples my maximum…”
Toshiro’s eyes widened in shock when he sensed Banduk’s full power when he unleashed his aura as well, they were really lots of strong people in the universe. He might have to rethink his training approach to catch up to such powerhouses, and even then he was sure there were people that even the Namekian dwarfed in power output.
“Well, my goal wasn’t to win the whole tournament anyway. It was get my name out to the world and to see where I stood, this match would be plenty to fufill that cause. I’m going to lose for sure, but I’m going to make it as difficult as possible for my opponent.” The human told himself, having already giving up on winning the match, but he was far from throwing the fight itself as he rushed forwards to attack first.
Well he wasn’t expecting a lucky first hit, using his ki to extend the blade might give the opponent to see it coming. However at least his kick landed even if it was blocked, it meant his efforts weren’t completely futile. His opponent retreated timely after, so Toshiro was forced to put him full force to his follow up ki slash with a burst of power with all his might. The sudden rush managed to throw a tile towards his foe, but of course he knew Banduk’s guard wouldn’t be down.
The tiger didn’t let his guard down either, his attacks were enough to keep both of them alert. The extending blades of energy then broke into specs of light green sparkly dust as he released his attack, then went to resume his stance. Though he was surprised at the Namekain’s speed as he went for a counterattack, was there just a big of a gap in their speed too? He could barely process the thought as he weaved left and right, knowing the only reason he managed to do that because of the obvious pattern of alternating punches.
“Crap, I can’t keep this up. But he’s not giving a chance to back off either…” His thoughts started to panic as each punch got slowly closer to his face, before long he found himself blocking with his arms. Each hit hurt more than he expected, and he could feel his feet straining under the pressure, he had to break it off quickly or he’d be hit directly.
“There!”
By some miracle, he was given the opportunity as Banduk readied a left hook. Knowing full well he couldn’t block the hit if he tried his best, he’d nimbly dodge to the side and quickly counter attack when it came at him. While it was fast, Toshiro managed to just barely dodge it, well so he thought.
A split second to dawning realisation later and he was hit full force in the face, he could almost feel his nose crack as he was sent flying back from the impact, it was like his whole face rattled like two cymbals clashing together. On instinct, he covered his face with a hand to brace the pain and regain his focus; he had to just ignore the pain somehow. He let himself fly back for a few metres before getting back into the game, his feet skid against the tiled arena and then bounced right off it to launch himself into the air. With his ki, he flew above his opponent within earshot. Removing his hand from his face, he revealed a pained grin.
“Damn, you’re quite strong I admit…” He commented, he was clearly impressed but he still did not want his opponent know he could already sense his immense power. All part of the battle, sometimes he had to act high and mighty and seem like he was underestimating his foe.
The feint he fell for did give him the idea though, as he might have to do the same to make up for his lack of speed and power. But then again, a person using the strategy would think that of him too. However, if anything he could rely on, it was his technique. So Toshiro quickly kicked off the air behind him and burst forward at full flight speed, it was when he was half way to his opponent that he’d strike. “HA!” He braced his left wrist with his right hand as he palmed out his left that faced the Namekian, and with a yell he released a shockwave burst ki that hopefully would slam unexpected at his foe’s face. Toshiro would then cross his arms in front of him and clenched his fists, the blades of light green ki before now emerged from both fists as tried to engage his foe in close combat by the time the human’s feet reached the ground once more.
“Distract him with ki claws, then go for an uppercut...” He strategized on the spot as he went to throw punches Banduk’s way, hoping the fact that the ki claw extensions from his knuckles made things a little less predictable. He made quick jabs, left then right to keep him occupied, aiming for the face and the upper chest, this was really the best way to force him to keep his guard up. Toshiro would then sudden release of the ki from one of his fists and then tried to send it flying up under the Namekian’s chin. Then he would quickly release the ki from his other fist and palm it forward, sending yet another shockwave to knock his foe back to gather some distance again.

A solid hit. Banduk grinned to himself, satisfied with the feeling of Toshiro's head snapping backward upon impact with the green fist. The young man sailed backward several feet before catching himself with his feet, sliding along the ground for a brief second before hopping into the air and taking flight high off the ground. Toshiro looked down at Banduk, whose smile was gone at this point. The Namekian had to get his head back in the game, especially now that Toshiro decided to add a third dimension to this fight. Not only did Banduk have to worry about distance and direction on the flat arena floor, he now had to pay attention to the height of his opponent. "So you can fly." he thought to himself, taking a breath in preparation for whatever attack that was to come next.
"It appears so." Banduk said in response to Toshiro's compliment, not really bragging so much as he was simply agreeing. It felt good to be strong, and he wasn't afraid to admit that he had a fairly high level of power compared to the average fighter. "Do you have something in store for me, or is this just talk?" the Namekian Warrior questioned inwardly, wondering if Toshiro did, in fact, have some kind of ace-in-the-hole. He watched carefully, putting up his guard to defend against whatever technique his opponent was ready to use. Toshiro charge downward and fired off a quick wave of energy that promptly closed in on its target. It was certainly unexpected enough to make Banduk reel back in defense, putting his arms up and letting out a small burst of his own ki to dispel that of his foe. "Rgh... Forgot about energy attacks." the green man thought with a disappointed huff, having been in a hand-to-hand mindset up until now. Rei did a good job in reminding Banduk to be on the lookout for long-ranged attacks, and the Namekian was now sure to not fall for such a maneuver again.
While Banduk would have preferred to stay out of Toshiro's claws' range, the shock wave of green energy made sure that Banduk wasn't going anywhere for the moment. He was once again on the defensive, this time against his own will. While he was able to skillfully deflect Toshiro's fists, the few extra inches of dangerous ki prevented him from coming up with a solid counter in time. "It's like his punches are unnaturally long... I can't sneak an attack in at this point..." Banduk thought, realizing that he would have to wait it out if he wanted an opportunity to fight back. He kept backpedaling, sliding his feet back each time he batted Toshiro's fists away with his own wrists. This clouded judgement was just what Toshiro needed in order to pull off the finishing move of his assault. Banduk wasn't ready to avoid a blast of ki at such close range, let alone one that was aimed at his head from below. The first blast was enough to stagger him, putting him into a horrifying split second of regret. "Gah! He's trying another... I have to... Just a little... It's no use, I can't...!" Banduk thought to himself, just barely able to turn his head and put his arms in front of his stomach, preventing the maximum damage from being delivered.
Toshiro's attack hurt. It hit its mark with a good deal of precision, leaving a darkened mark on the Namekian's abdomen and hands, a result from him attempting to block the attack. Banduk recovered after being flung backwards, landing shakily on his feet. He took a few deep breaths and entered his fighting stance, though it now seemed more aggressive. Instead of being pulled against his body like a boxer, his hands were held wider, as if he were focusing much more on his offense. "Well, you got me." he said with a determined glare, his eyes not faltering in the slightest as he stared down his opponent. "I'll be sure to watch myself from now on." he said, suddenly springing into an attack of his own.
Now it was Banduk's turn. He flew at full speed for just a second until he was hovering about three feet off the ground. His body turned sideways, and the opening attack was a heavy right kick aimed straight for Toshiro's face. The follow-up was surprisingly savage in appearance, his right leg winding up before slamming once again toward Toshiro's head. Two kicks were thrown at the human by this point, and to finish off the combo, Banduk straightened out mid-flight and thrust both palms toward Rei. "Hyaaahh!!" he yelled, firing a large wave of yellow ki towards the tiger-like martial artist. Regardless of his kicks' effect on Toshiro, this wave was the strongest one Banduk could muster up without charging - it was at full power. The damage inflicted by the beam was dependent on whether or not Rei was able to keep his guard up after receiving the kicks. If his defense was lowered after either of them, he was in for a nasty bit of pain.
Banduk's short combo was over, but instead of waiting for Toshiro to react, the Namekian leaped backward and into the air, keeping his palms facing toward wherever Toshiro now stood (or laid, depending on the effect of Banduk's beam attack). Gundu continued firing small bursts of ki, raining down a barrage of baseball-sized orbs that created smoldering craters wherever they hit. Toshiro not only had to recover from Banduk's first attack, he now had to fight his way through (or around) the steady stream of glowing missiles in order to hit his foe. Fortunately, if Toshiro managed to do so, he would find that Banduk was completely open to attack.

Banduk: 3742 Pl Toshiro: 2649 pl
After reading through the fight we feel both players wrote well, but Toshiro's inactivity was the main reason the fight was not finished. Because of this Banduk is being awarded the victory because we believe it is deserved.
Winner: Banduk
