In the middle of Central City was a park. In the middle of the park, a lake. While small children and their families dart back and forth, someone would stand out. Sitting under the largest tree in the park was a scarred, half naked man with messy black hair. Looking so out of place in all the traffic of the park, the man would snore loudly, almost deafening to anyone near him. Needless to say, that would create a large ring of emptiness of which he would be the bullseye.
His name was Bear. A man who'd been through a ton over his lifetime. A man who was warn out from his boring life. Though Bear seemed homeless, and this was true, he was not looking for a home. On the contrary, actually, he was looking for a life of adventure to rival the one he used to have.
Well, technically he was sleeping under a tree, dreaming of the only thing he cared about anymore. His dark brown life fluid; Whiskey. The same liquid that he carried in a large gourd that hung from his pants, and that filled a large flask hidden in his pocket. The same fluid that he would wreak of after a three day bender. Would anyone wake the sleeping beast?

Ever since Gohan had published his knowledge on Ki and the potential that most living creatures had for power the world had become a different place. Criminals had become stronger with the use of Ki and law enforcement had responded in kind. Not every officer or security guard was a walking power house, but in highly populated areas officers were required to go through more training then most. Central City was one of those places and Park Ranger Teddy was one of those officers with a power level having risen up to right around two thousand.
Making his rounds in the park he hums to himself as he walks, enjoying the warm sun that was shining on his face. It was a good day so far and the peace loving man was glad for it, smiling as two children run past him chasing each other. He had two of his own back home, both of them back at his city side condo with his wife. Perhaps this weekend he would take the family into the park when he was off duty.
Unknowingly walking several yards downwind of a man sleeping near a tree the lovely odor of freshly cut grass and flowers was smothered by a sudden stink of alcohol. Turning his head the ranger notices the man sleeping under the tree. Approaching the shirtless fellow he leans down and pokes him with his nightstick, seeing if it would rouse the man. Teddy first and foremost wanted to make sure the man was alright and second he wanted to ask him to leave the park for it was a nice family place, not a napping area for drunks.

A hard jab would wake Bear, sending his left hand shooting up to firmly grab the object that had poked him. Though the poke may not have been hard, it awoke a man with heightened senses, from his heavy hang over. Though he was no longer drunk, his head throbbed and his eyes had a hard time adjusting to the bright sun as they opened.
Though it would take a second, Bear was finally able to make out the origin of the poke. A park ranger. Wanting no trouble, a forced smile would cross his face, "Is there a problem, officer?" he asked, the words stumbling out of his mouth along with the foul stank of whiskey. Releasing the night stick, his hand would quickly drop to his beard, which he would run his fingers through as if to comb it; with no success.

As the drunk woke Teddy was surprised at his quick reaction time despite the strong smell of alcohol that was coming from him. The sudden firm grip on the extended night stick was enough to give the ranger pause. As drunk and dirty as this man appeared to be he would not underestimate him. By the look of his muscular frame, one decorated with numerous scars, he was in some regard a fighter. Now whether he was a martial arts master or a man that had seen one to many bar fights Teddy was not sure.
When the night stick was released and the man spoke any illusions about him being sober were washed away as hisn whiskey heavy breath wafted over the officer. Having to blink a little he wondered if he himself would be able to pass a breathalyzer after inhaling some of that air. Still the man's smile and tone seemed like he might cooperate so it was best to be polite, yet direct.
"I am going to have to request that you sleep off your hangover somewhere else Mister, this park is a family place."

"I am going to have to request that you sleep off your hangover somewhere else Mister, this park is a family place."
A light chuckle left his mouth and he shook his head a little, "Listen, Sir. I don't want any problems. But I'm going to have to decline." His hands dropped to the ground, and slightly lifted him up, only to push his back upright against the sturdy tree trunk. His left knee rose, his foot anchoring hard into the ground.
"I'm not bothering anyone and I am not breaking any laws," Bear had his own training, and was aware of laws; though that was a few years back, he was speaking honestly. The park was outside. Surely there was enough airflow for his scent to ventilate properly. If not, perhaps he would ask to use the officer's shower to clean up. It had been a while since his last shower...

Watching the man rise to his feet, using the tree for support Teddy couldn't help but feel a little for the man. In his thirties now he was a family man, but a decade ago he had spent many nights leaning against something or someone for support. He hadn't been a drunkard or anything, but had been quite the partier. Still he had a duty to do and whether this man realized it or not he could be smelt from a couple of yards away. Standing in a casual stance, his nightstick now tucked away in his belt Teddy would take it slow and keep things quiet, noise was never good for a hangover.
"I believe you uh Mr....? But the law is the law and I can't have you laying around in public in that state." Hoping to find out the man's name Teddy waits patiently for an answer. If he could keep this as friendly as possible there was no reason for any violence to occur and that was something the ranger honestly didn't want. The only possible hiccup in that plan was he was only half of the plan, this drunk fellow the other.

"I believe you uh Mr....? But the law is the law and I can't have you laying around in public in that state."
Again, a chuckle left Bear's mouth and his head shook a little, "You can call me Bearserk." It was a nickname well earned, and possible one that the officer might recognize. Though his army days were long gone, there were still whispers of a legendary man whose fists of steel punished many of men. The army knew what Bear was capable. Would they have kept such a legend hush-hush?
"Perhaps you can enlighten me... though hungover, Bear was far from ignorant, "If the law is the law, what law is it that I am breaking? Drunk in public? Not once have I took a swig. Disorderly conduct? I am not bothering anyone. Non-cooperation? I have answered all your questions. As far as I am aware, there is no law to cleanliness or hygiene. And unless you are going to make it rain, or are willing to let me use your shower, I don't see that changing." Though his tone was calm, it would be obvious that he was beginning to grow annoyed. As a small vein on his forehead bulged, he took a deep breath, in attempt to calm himself.

"Alright Mr. Bearserk, my name is Ranger Teddy." Bearserk...that name sounded familiar for some reason. Thinking about I a moment he knew he had heard it or read it somewhere, but couldn't for the life of him remember where. Giving up on it he puts his focus back on the shirtless man, calmly listening to him. It seemed he was not going to quietly leave the park, but perhaps hope of a peaceful solution wasn't lost yet. Letting out a sigh to vent his frustration calmly Teddy looked the man in the eye.
"No, there is no law about personal hygiene, but if you want to continue down this path I can certainly get you for refusing to cooperate. The fact of the matter is you smell heavily of alcohol and even though I do not know how much you consumed or how recently I am within my rights to bring you down to the station. That is something I am trying to avoid, all I asked is for you to please remove yourself from this public park until you are a little more... together. Now if a shower would help I can offer to escort you to the ranger station to take a shower, then if you pass a breathalyzer test you may come back to knap. What do you say?" Teddy was still trying to be friendly but his tone was much more assertive and mentally he was prepared should a fight break out.

Again, a chuckle and a shake of his head, "I will tell you this, Ranger Teddy, It would take more than you to take me into custody." A smirk crossed his face and he stood on his feet, stretchig and letting out a long yawn, "But I'm in a good mood today, so how about you and I strike a deal?" with an eye row risen, Bear stepped away from the tree and cracked his knuckles.
"You take me to a place where I can shower, that isn't the police station, and once I've cleaned up, I'll move on," Bear looked the officer up and down, sizing him up. Though he was small, Bear wouldn't make the mistake of underestimating him. If there were a fight, Bear would end it swiftly. "You must understand where I am coming from. To me it would make no sense for you to take me to the station without placing me under custody. I am doing my best to cooperate, but we both know that times have changed since we were younger."
Though the officer hadn't tried arresting him, Bear was sure seeing the station would end him in a holding cell. That would make the officer run his identification. Though Bear was unsure of his status, chances were someone had reported him for giving them a well diserved ass-whooping. Hopefully if Bear could avoid the station, he wouldn't be forced to fight. With such a hang over, a fight was worth avoiding.

Teddy raised an eyebrow at the man’s proposal for a deal. It wasn’t common for an officer or ranger to strike a deal, but the man had not committed any real crime, the ranger was just trying to keep the park clean for families. It was nothing against Bear personally for any homeless person or other drunk the ranger had come across would have been sent packing as well. Still the man seemed to be trying to keep things calm and was only requesting a shower in return for him leaving. Thinking a moment he tries to think of the best way to do this, not really sure where he could take the man for a free shower. The ranger’s station had been his first suggestion and he had no intention of arresting the man, but this Bearserk didn’t seem to trust him.
Tapping his chin a moment an idea comes to his mind and a smile forms on his face. “How about this. Since you don’t feel comfortable going down to the station with me I can escort you to the soup kitchen. I am not trying to offend you, but they do offer showers and if you want to lie down and sleep some where they have plenty of cots you can use to take a nap and then be on your way. What do you say?” It wasn’t the most flattering suggestion that was for sure, but he was just trying to help the man. He seemed in desperate need of a shower and looking like he wanted to nap a bit longer. The soup kitchen would be the perfect place for him to get both of those things and Teddy could get him out of the park. In the rangers mind it was a fine idea, but that didn’t mean the hung-over fellow would go for it.

A chuckle left Bear as he shook his head a little, "I've spent way too much time on cots when I was in the military. I much prefer sleeping under the shade of a beautiful tree," running a hand through his untidy beard, he gave the offer a moment of thought. Then, with a heavy shrug, he smiled, "If this soup kitchen has warm water, what the hell. I'm in."
"But first, how about a cup of coffee? There's gotta be a place in this town that serves a decent coffee." Bear needed a nice strong cup of coffee to wake him up. Though not a necessity, it would be nice to finally have something put in his stomach that wasn't alcohol. And on top of that, it could help kick him out of the hang over he suffered from.
"As long as the coffee is worth drinking, it'll be my treat. Maybe you could show me around a little on our way? I haven't had much time to wander the city yet." Bear was doing his best to be friendly. Perhaps keeping the officer on his good side could benefit him later. And there would for sure be a time later that Bear would need to ask a favor of the officer. There was no doubt about that.

Teddy thought a moment before answering. His shift was just about done, and his goal had been to get the man from park. If all he wanted was a small tour and a good cup of coffee that it was worth his time. If the interaction between them could be kept positive than there was no reason the two men could not walk away from this whole thing as mutual acquaintances. Nodding slightly Teddy finally speaks up. “I can agree to that. I know a little place that has some damn good coffee; it’s one of those small mom and pop shops, not some fancy chain. Follow me.”
Turning Teddy would start to walk, leading the two of them towards the eastern side of the park. The area was still quite busy as it was just past midday. Several children ran and chased each other around in circles while they pass a number of other families camped out with small blankets and snacks. This was the peace that Ted always strove to preserve.
“So Bearserk what is it that brings you to the city? I mean no offence, but you really don’t seem like the business type… I would picture you out working in some farm or something based on your build.” It was meant a simply question, no disrespect intended of course. The question would also serve to get some information on the man, if he chose to answer that was. Having seen how fit Bearserk was Ted assumed he had a fighting background, but that wasn’t necessarily the case.

After a moment of thought, the officer agreed and told Bear to follow him. The battle-scarred man would nod, and do so as Teddy began to walk, leading them out of the park and into the city. After only a moment of silence the office would break it, asking Bear why he was in the city, as well as infer that the man worked on a farm. With a laugh, Bear shook his head, "I go where ever it is I wind up. Sometimes I am in the wrong place at the wrong time, sometimes it is the opposite."
Rounding a corner, it was your average city. Shops lined up side by side, busy streets. And busy people. As a few passed, the might bump one another, as if in such a hurry to get where they were going. Bear didn't miss city life, that was for sure. He preferred his own company to the company of others, and was seldom in a hurry to go anywhere. He was a true vagabond, and truly enjoyed that. "I served ten years of active combat in my youth. Was held as a P.O.W. for two of them. I hate being confined to one place. I much prefer to come and go as a please, nothing holding me down. Nothing holding me back."
With a laugh he placed a over sized hand on the officer's shoulder, "If you have never caught a train from one city to another and slept under the stars, I would suggest you do at least once. There is something about it that makes a man truly rethink life in a city. I will never go back."

Ah, a wanderer, traveling across the world and perhaps even the stars as he pleased. There was appeal to such a life for most men. What man didn’t want to travel on his own, held down by nothing? Such a life promised to allow you more control of your destiny, or at least that was the idea. Teddy himself would have enjoyed such a life in his younger days before he had met his wife and started a family. Perhaps these two were not that different from each other in some ways, even if they had ended up down different paths. Feeling the hand on his shoulder Teddy glances back to the man, smirking some.
“I am sure it is an exciting life Bearserk, but I have a family so I cannot just jump ship whenever I choose. Perhaps if you had caught me a decade ago the two of us could have shared some adventures.” As they walk Teddy would point out various local shops that he liked, especially a place that offered the best pizza in the world, in his opinion. Turning down one road the ranger points off towards the east explaining that at the center of the city stood its capital building, most offices reserved for military and political personal. The Furher King himself had an office that he often used in the building. Thinking of the Furher and the military Teddy wondered if the Earth military is where Bearserk served his ten years of active combat.
“Tell me, those ten years of active combat, where did you serve them?” The two would then turn another corner, finally arriving on the street that housed the small, but quality coffee shop.
