Beta Minor
:History:
Glace was born to a family of Icejin living on the edges of the Planet Trade’s space. Being so far away from the rest of the empire, there was not much in the way of the protection and other services available to the rest of the empire. It was not strange for the planet to be attacked by wandering bandits, who normally settled in after a few years. Avil had a way of attracting all sorts. It certainly wasn’t for the scenery. Colonization had left much of the world a brown rocky mess, with the occasional swamp or patch of woods. Glace wasn’t anything special in her family beyond being an only child, and a daughter. The patriarchal leanings of the Icejin society still found their way into this far off colony, and she found herself being pushed harder than she would have liked at such an early age. The seeds of later rebellion had been sown there, but for the time she just accepted it.
At the age of 12 she found herself as a member of a local gang of Icejin, going around harassing aliens and doing minor crimes. Nothing serious by her reckoning, and while her parents never said so, they approved of the treatment of the aliens who had infested their planet.
The day she quit the gang was the same day it was wiped out, coincidentally enough. A spiky haired stranger had visited the town, and thinking him an easy target, they had attacked. Within five minutes flat they had been beaten flat. Not wanting to give up, the leader ordered them to transform and attack again. Ignoring the warning, the rest of them attacked while Glace hesitated. All of her friends were slaughtered while she cowered and did her best not to run or beg for her life. The alien didn’t attack her though, instead walking away and leaving her behind.
Glace devoted herself to training from then on, fear of being beaten pushing her on. As her power grew, her tolerance for the daily annoyances that were her mother and father. A family argument led to her striking out at them before running away. At the spaceport she boarded a flight to Beta Minor. There was some news about a tournament, but she didn’t pay too much attention to it. Heck, Glace wasn’t even sure about what to do when she got there. But anything was better compared to the ugly pisshole that she’d grown up in. Maybe it was naïve of her, but this Beta Minor place was going to be where she made a name of herself.
