Screen after screen went by, each one containing the name of those that had departed from New Vegeta in the last thirty years. Since the Moon had become the home of her race, the Saiyan’s had taken great care to record and note their population, keeping track of all those that arrived and left. Of course this did not account for the illegal immigrations or departures, but for the most part the records were complete. With their race still quite small in terms of numbers, especially when compared to the overpopulated Earth, humans cluttering almost every part of it, recording those under the rule was integral to their success.
This was the Princess’s second time searching through these types of records, the feat of looking through them all not possible in one sitting. If she had been looking in more detail at the individuals that came across the screen it might have taken her years to find the woman she was looking for, but Akassa was only looking at names. Despite her steady progress she had yet to see Rebbec Vession on the screen. Having just recently learned her mother’s full name the half-saiyan was anxious to finally find where her mother had gone.
According to the old woman that she had spoken with on New Vegeta the human had never returned to her town of birth, Akassa quite curious as to where she might have gone. In her mind it just did not make sense that the woman had not returned to her hometown. Never having known or met her mother made it hard for Akassa to guess where else she might have traveled to. She honestly knew nothing about her, not what she liked to eat, what her favorite color was or any other family she might have had. Her best chance was to find her name in the transit database to find a new starting point. If she could find her name that was.
Sighing the Princess keeps clicking away at the terminal, hundreds of more names crossing the screen as time ticked on. Many might think the search a waste of time, for what did she truly intend to gain by meeting her mother? Akassa herself wasn’t sure if anything might come of finding the woman. Proud of her Saiyan half much more than her human there was no desire within her to become “more Human.” In general the race was weak and fickle, yet the Princess herself was half human and quite the opposite of what the typical human was made up of. Had her mother been the exception to the rule? After all she had attracted the attention of her father, the King so there must have been something about her a Saiyan found appealing. Still clicking through screens the sudden beeping of her scouter startles her, her brown eyes glancing up some to see the alert.
On her scouter a small light blinked, the time listed alongside it. Snorting some Akassa knew her time was up, this little detour something personal, something she was not supposed to be doing. The soldier rarely did anything like this, not one to normally disobey her father. In the recent weeks she had met several individuals, most of them telling her that the life she led was to strict and that she had no freedom. The Princess did not agree with them…yet she had decided to look into several personal matters such as the location of her mother. It was a tiny bit selfish, that was true, but she didn’t spend much time attending to her personal needs, fitting in what she could when she could. Sighing she rises from the terminal, turning it off before stepping away. Rolling her shoulders a little the half-saiyan heads out, prepared to
Unlike most of her missions the one she was currently on required stealth, not her usual brawn. Recent reports had told of a small organization that had been gaining power on New Vegeta. From what she had found out this far the group had made no aggressive moves against the Crown or New Vegeta had been made just yet, but there was growing concern that such attempts were not far off. Several of the minor players were now known, but the true mastermind behind the group was yet to be determined. As always her father did not wish to act to hastily, especially if it meant that they were not going to capture the one behind it all.
Having left the records building Akassa makes her way across the city, soaring high above it. Down below her the citizens of New Vegeta went about their daily lives, most unaware of all the crown did for them. It was the Royal families doing, keeping most information within the military for safety reasons. Even when they released reports on incidents it was usually days afterwards so that information could be presented in the way they wanted. It was not an attempt to hide anything or bend the truth, but a way to control how information was disseminated amongst the general public. Information was power and needed to be wielded carefully or the damage it might do had the potential to be devastating. Many times through history information released to the public had lead to disaster, New Vegeta would not repeat such a mistake.
For several minutes Akassa remained high above New Vegeta as she made her way towards the ship yard that was to be the groups meeting place this night. She had been assigned to get in close and ease drop on the conversation. At first she had question as to how someone of her power level would be able to hide without her signature being sensed. According to the soldier that had briefed her, those expected to be in attendance for this get together lacked the ability to sense power signatures with great accuracy, none of them having the training in the advanced Ki sensing techniques. Even so Akassa was not able to sense power signatures with much accuracy, but she could sense individuals that had signatures although no real number could be determined by it. The answer to that question was a new device from the R&D department that had the ability to momentarily hide a power signature.
The device was brand new, not even officially named yet beyond Model #547 so there was no promise that it would work properly in the field. If it did malfunction and she was discovered Akassa had been told to react accordingly. Ninjin and Leke were her father’s favorites, but he knew his daughter was just as capable and had plenty of faith in her. After all, she had proven herself many times over in various situations. The Princess was nothing if not a competent soldier.
Approaching the ship yard Akassa drops from the sky as quickly as she can, only pulling up just before she hits the ground as to not make any sound. Letting her boots lightly step down the soldier looks around, not sure which direction the men would be arriving from. Not able to determine which entrance they might use with any certainty the Princess decides on an alternative plan. At the moment several ships were close by, one of them actually quite large. Lifting back off the ground she lands a top it, flattening out on her stomach to conceal herself. From this below she was out of site, the ship tall enough to hide her slender frame. Closing her eyes Akassa listens, focusing on her hearing the most she can. All she had to do now was wait, the small device on her waist already activated.
Half an hour passes before footsteps could be heard, metal boots clanking against the metal flooring of the ship yard. Pressing herself down even more, her stomach and chest pressed to the top of this ship Akassa even quiets her breath. Rather close to the ship she was hiding on the boots stopped, the individual taking up a position between “her” ship and several others. For several moments after that there was nothing, no sound until a second set of footsteps can be heard. Smirking some she remains silent, knowing she only had to wait for one more set before the meeting began. As soon as the second man stopped near where the first had she heard the third set of footsteps already closing in. Keeping her eyes closed she listens. After a short span of formalities, their names confirmed, the interesting part of the conversation began.
”Let’s get down to business. We all know we are getting closer to Phase one of Jesper’s plans. Soon we will be able to make our first move, which is why I have called you here today. Jesper wishes that I confirm the progress you have made with your respective tasks; he of course will not be attending. Berrek you start.
”Very well. Our shipments have continued to come in without a hitch. Over the past two months 1,000 crates have been brought into New Vegeta through various cargo ships. After smuggling the explosives in I have made sure that the shipments have been stored properly in one of the five warehouses we have access to. On my personal terminal I have a listing and breakdown of all their locations and the quantity stored in each building. When we need them it will be easy to gather them. We are currently awaiting two more shipments before we will have enough.
” Good work Berrek, Houst?”
”Glad to hear that is going so smoothly. Admittedly the fuses and chips have been a bit harder to smuggle in. The damn military keeps a tight lease on any shipments containing advanced technology, must be their dislike for the stuff over their brawn. If you ask me the Saiyan race is behind everyone else with its use of technology, but that’s neither here nor there. All of the chips and fuses that have made it onto New Vegeta are safely stored within the fallout room in my home. The only way to access them is with the code and that is up here.” Akassa did not see it, but the Saiyan reaches up to tap his own head, the number only known by him.
”Try and get the rest in as soon as possible, we will need them to proceed. As for me, I now have official access to our target. Achieving it was a little more difficult than we had initially anticipated, but it is done. When all of the shipments are in and the devices completed I will be able to get them where we need them. We are close now gentlemen, soon enough we will be able to finish this and get that hefty price we demanded. Then we can be on our way and leave this world as rich Saiyans.”
That brought forth a chuckle from all three of the males, the thought of their future wealth to much as they were not able to contain their mirth. Listening from a top the ship Akassa wanted nothing more than to hop off and take care of all three of them right then and there, but she could not. Her orders had been explicit in the fact that she was not to engage them unless others were in immediate danger. Now she could argue that the mention of some sort of explosive device posed an immediate threat, but she had heard they were not yet ready to deploy it. Grinding her teeth she does forces herself to do nothing, her hands clenched slightly into fists.
Several more moments passed as the three males continue to discuss what they would do with the money they would receive, the Princess certain they would never see it. Even if she could not act now her father was surely going to send her back out once he learned the news of what she had heard today. Keeping control of herself she continues to wait as the men finish their pointless chatter, then quickly dispersing. After they had left the female waits several more minutes, wanting to make sure that they were out of sight and out of ear shot before pushing up to her feet.
Glancing down at the device on her hip she had to admit it was impressive, having shielded her even if it was already blinking, indicating that it was about to reach its limit. Good thing the conversation was over or she might have been discovered. Snorting some as she recalls their words, the fools so confident their plan was going to proceed, they had no idea how swiftly the royal family was about to descend on them. First things first though Akassa had to report in, telling her father about these shipments that had been coming and supply him with the name or title of their ringleader, Jesper. Standing upon the ship for several more minutes, just to be safe the Princess then launches up into the air. Rocketing up she makes sure to be out of sight before heading back towards the palace.
