Beta Minor, the new Icejin capital and home to the royal family, it was no wonder that Glace had chosen it as her new home. Granted she didn’t exactly have anywhere to stay or anything to keep her here, but it was still a good idea in her books. Besides, in the event that this turned into a tourist visit instead of the start of the ‘Adventure Spectacular’ that she’d envisioned, she’d still be able to say that she had at least seen the place.
Walking down a crowded street and having to push and squeeze her way through men who judging from smell alone had given up all hygiene weeks ago wasn’t exactly doing anything to bring across any magical feelings. It was a good thing she didn’t have claustrophobia or the thick crowds packing the sidewalks between the looming oppressive buildings was already giving her the feeling of slowly suffocating. The sad reality being that you couldn’t fly everywhere, all the time.
It was when feeling what was more than likely to be a deliberate groping than an accidental brushing that Glace reached the absolute limits of her patience. Her white-hot aura trailed behind her as she leapt up into the air and put on a burst of speed towards the refreshingly open sky.
While doing her best to remove the rubbed on people smell that she’d acquired by flaring her Ki all along her body, Glace noticed that it wasn’t just that one street that was packed with bodies. The others that she could see from her vantage point were packed as well, and they all seemed to be convening on one location.
“What the hell is going on?” She thought aloud, slowly floating forwards to get a look at where they were all going. From above it looked like a perfectly normal building, besides from the fact that it was attracting Icejin like sugar attracts ants. Well, there really was only one thing to do. With a half sigh, Glace’s aura died down and she dove for what looked like the entrance. The sensation of the wind rushing past her didn’t do much to quell her nervousness as she watched the mass of Icers grow nearer. Whatever drew so much attention had to be important. Setting foot on the earth with one foot first, balancing on it for a second before bringing down the other, Glace quickly rushed through the door to the establishment. Determination to find out what was in here drove her, as well as desire to get ahead of the others. For all she knew there could be a prize for getting here first.
Inside it was not as all what she had expected. A fairly typical drinking establishment with a bar and a TV mounted on the wall. The Icejin inside on the other hand looked ecstatic about something, all huddled up and whispering things. Well there was one sitting at the bar minding his own business who looked to be unaffected by whatever it was.
Glace swiftly sidled up to the closest group and politely interrupted their conversation by loudly clearing her throat. “Hey, um, sorry but what’s got everyone so excited?” She hadn't really planned on what she was going to say, and the looks the bar crawlers were shooting her had brought a high pitch to her voice that served to only add to her uneasiness.
The Icer next to her was a full head taller than her, and had scars along his arms and one across his cheek. Tattoos ran up his arms and one that looked like a serpent went through his eye. Glace shrank a little under his gaze before he hissed at her, “Don’t you know? That’s Frigid sitting over there!” He said, looking in the direction of the Icer at the bar, with Glace following his gaze before he looked back again.
“Frigid?” Glace said, dumb expression on her face. ‘That name sounds familiar, where do I know it from?’ “Should I know who that is?”
At this point the assembled grizzled men all gave each other looks of astonishment before focusing glares on her, making Glace feel even more uncomfortable.
“Frigid, runner up in the big Tournament, drew with a Saiyan and the judges picked it as the winner. Should have been him if ya ask me.” This statement was met with grunts of approval from around the table.
Glace’s eyes widened and her mouth formed an ‘o’ and she looked at the Icejin seated at the bar again. So that was the one! It sounded like he was pretty famous around here. No wonder all those people were coming… Oh shit.
Glace promptly glided over to Frigid with as much haste as she could muster in a confined space and began talking almost as soon as she’d gotten there. “Hi Mr Frigid sir, there are a whole lot of people heading here and you probably want to get out of here before that and by the way could I come with you please?” She said, rushing over the words and practically bouncing in place. Sure she didn’t know who he was when she got here, but the news she’d received had changed that quite fast. He had to be super strong! Maybe if she asked nicely he’d train her, and then she’d be super strong too! It was a wonder that stars weren’t visible in Glace’s eyes as she ran over these scenarios in her head.
