At first it felt like a dream. A bad dream he had been having over and over again, as if there was nothing else left in the world to dream about. As if the wonderful things to dream about had faded from the world, and left in their place were only this thing of nightmares. That same face. Those same eyes, so filled with loathing it was as if there was nothing left within the soul that those eyes were the supposed window to. And that was true, that soul had been traded away, worth less than the power to exact vengeance apparently. It made Ninjin shiver. Here he was, who knows how far away from the last place he saw Barakyel’s face, and here he was dreaming about the demon. It went to show the sort of impression the creature had had upon the former prince. He had faced demons before, but there was no comparison to Barakyel. His power was the stuff of legend. Never before had the former prince faced a foe like him.
Former prince It stung to think of himself that way. How could she have done it? How in the world could Akassa have seized the throne for herself, taken away everything that Ninjin has been bred his entire life for. It was all he had known, and she had taken it without seemingly offering him a second thought. Their relationship had been strained for a great while, but Ninjin thought they had been improving. He was wrong. The killing of Tsuyo and Natisha? As hard as that was in itself to believe… no… no it really wasn’t. If anything Ninjin was probably surprised she hadn’t raised her hand to her step-mother sooner. The fact that she had overpowered Tsyuo was cause for surprise and concern, but Ninjin could recall vividly what his sister’s face had looked like when she stalked into the war council. Pure hate had been leveled towards Natisha. Ninjin just hadn't suspected... hadn't thought she could be so monstrous.
Thoughts and feelings of hatred towards his sister rose in his mind and he pushed them back, nauseated by them, but also startled by their strength. They were the sorts of things he always used to think about her, and the worst part is there was a nagging little voice in the back of his head that whispered softly I told you so . After all hadn’t that part of him, the part that loathed her, hadn’t it always known she was going to do something like this? He tried to kick that part away, but it danced around his mental prods with convincing words. She had wanted the throne all along. She had done what she had done, taken all the steps she had taken, all to steal the throne out from underneath him. His fists clenched with hate and anger. It was not hard, he found himself thinking, to imagine giving up ones soul for the power to destroy one who had taken so much from you.
The eyes of Callem Maugh came into his thoughts once more and startled the prince, causing him to throw off his covers and sit up in the bed that was provided for him aboard the ship. He was panting and covered with a cold sweat. Barakyel’s smiling face filled the prince’s mind’s eye. How could he have thoughts like that? He was no better than Callem if he was having thoughts like that. No. No! He told himself. Despite what similarities there were Ninjin drew the line. Never would he actually accept the offer of a demon like that, regardless of what power it could offer him. He was a Saiyan, and not just any Saiyan kais be damned, he was the rightful King! His power was all that he needed to retain his throne.
Still… somewhere out there… waiting in the universe, was an enemy. Barakyel had been strong, but now so too was the rightful king. He had unleashed from within himself a power unlike anything he had ever felt before, aside from his father’s, Wrath’s, Arctic’s and the king of Earth’s. Aside from those four men, the rightful king had never felt anyone have anything close to what he had. Even the demon who once so boastfully claimed the prince to be a weak enemy.
A image flashed through his mind once more. It was Barakyel, smiling once again. Somehow the rightful heir to the throne knew that despite all his new found power, Barakyel was going to remain an enemy of his for some time. There was more to him then met the eye, and the thing was powered by a strong hatred. The demon and he would no doubt be rivals. After all how was the former prince supposed to kill a demon that powerful? And if Ninjin had proved anything to the universe at this point, it was that he was damned hard to kill himself. Many had tried, and though many had come extremely close, none had been up to the task. It was almost enough for the king to start growing an ego. Still... What was waiting for him on... wherever it was they were going... was unlike anything they had ever faced before. It would be the might of an army.
They were getting close now. Something in Ninjin’s heart told him so. It was as if they were approaching destiny. The king wondered if Celeh could feel it too. The entire ship seemed to be filled with the tension of it. He wondered if the same feeling was permeating the world, wherever it was they were going to. Did they know that right now, screaming through space at speeds faster than light, a man was on a ship bound for their planet, with hopes to destroy their very world and take all their lives as quickly as possible? Did they know that death stalked them at this very minute? It was a sobering thought, and not one Ninjin wished to have twice. Despite all the times the prince said he had made up his mind, the truth was that his heart and mind both ached thinking about it. Killing all of those people? It was just never something he thought he would have to do. It made him ached.
Finally he stood from his bed and paced back and forth across the room. There would be no sleeping anymore, not until after all of this was over. It would be a long time before that. If he ever even saw that day. After all how could one sleep when they knew what was about to occur like he did. He would give anything to be anywhere else. The skyen lounge on Omega perhaps, drinking and laughing with Lilith. Exploring the wonders of the Worldship with Lilianna, meeting his new subjects and learning the ropes of his new kingdom. Back on New Vegeta, in a bar with Nasu or in his old royal chambers, with Truffle curled up on the foot of his bed, a young boy again with none of the pressures he had now. Oh what he wouldn’t give to be there.
But that wasn’t the reality he was faced with. Like it or not his life was about to be changed in a huge way. He was going to either die on this planet, or leave it a murderer of an untold number. He wasn’t about to let this go without saying goodbye to some people. He sat at his desk and with great consideration jotted out two letters. After a few hours of writing he felt he had said enough. Summoning his armor the prince tucked the letter into one of the pockets, and then dismissed it once more. Should he die, hopefully someone would find the letter and bring it to who it was addressed to. Truffle. The blue creature would know the full story of the prince, after all he deserved to. Tucked inside Truffle’s letter was another letter, to be delivered by the blue alien should he get his.
The static clicked on overhead, and Ninjin thought he heard the pilot say something to him. A single tear rolled down his cheek and caught the edge of his letter. What he wouldn’t give to have the big blue fuzzy alien here right now. The voice finally yelled over the loud speaker, and Ninjin responded curtly.
“You’re gonna wanna come see this sir” Was the only response. Ninjin took a deep breath in through his nose. It was time. This was happening. He could feel it in his bones. His heart began pounding rapidly, and before long it was the only thing he could hear. Deep breaths in and out seemed to calm him down, and his hand brushed against the letter. Thoughts of his friend calmed his as he made his way to the cockpit. It was the day of reckoning. Would he have the strength to do what needed to be done? The former prince hoped and prayed so. Would they forgive him after? That was for history to decide. He could only ask that they did. Whatever he was about to do, it was for his people.

If anyone deserves to be happy in this universe, it’s you. Truffle, I have a child. I bet you weren’t expecting that. His name is Azuki Hattori, and last I knew he was somewhere on Omega. Azuki,
You don’t know me, and if you’re reading this, I’m sorry you never will. I’m your father, Ninjin Hattori. You are the son of a long and strong line of Saiyan people. If I’m gone, that means that you are now the rightful king to these people. Shocking isn’t it, finding out that not only was your father king of the Saiyans, his death means now, that falls to you. If you’re reading this, I’ve died and your aunt still has control over the throne. Train my son, someday it will fall to you to rise up and free your people. Truffle will help you and look after you. I’m sorry we never got to meet, but know that I loved you with everything I had the minute I knew of your existence. Please forgive what I am about to do.
You are stronger than you know,
Ninjin.
