Once Azuki Hattori and Lilith both reached the penthouse of the Skyen Lounge, Azuki quickly rushed to his room to get his training uniform on. The door to his room closed behind him and he jumped right into his training outfit. Before he opened his door once more to begin his training, he stopped to admire the picture of his mother that was sitting atop his dresser and a soft smile danced across his lips. Even though he was still upset at his mother for leaving, Azuki missed her dearly. He slowly reached for the picture and held it in his hands. Azuki felt tears stinging in the back of his eyes as he looked at the image of his mother holding a younger version of himself. In the picture his face was one full of joy and excitement but for the first time he realized his mother's expression didn't match his. Although she was smiling there was a pained expression in her eyes and even the young Azuki could see that. Her eyes were underscored by deep purple bags. He didn't quite remember why she would be looking beyond stressed out or upset so he tried to recall back to a time before he was given to Lilith.
"Why do I have to be given this ultimatum!?” Endou seemed enraged as she slammed her fist down onto the table. Azuki was in the corner playing with his Saiyan action figures, not bothering to pay attention to the adults he was content with his toys. Endou collapsed into a nearby chair as Vil ran his monstrous hand over his goatee. The two had been going back and forth for some time. There was a moment of stressful silence but Vil was the first to break the silnce.
“Endou there really is no choice-“
She had cut him off. “Of course there is!” She screamed at him. “I’m not going to give my baby away god damn it!” Her eyes went to the naive child, playing peacefully in the corner of the room. “I can protect him…”
“Endou…” Vil pleaded with her.
“I will protect him! He is my child and it is my job as his mother to protect him no matter the cost.”
“But you can’t do that Endou.” Before she cut him off for a third time he held a hand up to stop her. “Not only for your own sake but for Ninjin’s and for your child’s.” Endou looked at him quizzically. “If you die trying to protect him then not only will the child not have a mother but he will have the image of your dead corpse burned into his mind and who knows what sort of impressions that could have on a child.” Endou’s expression was slowly turning from one of anger and exasperation to sadness. “If the child stays here under your protection it’s only a matter of time before someone like the Chruch or Roxxon Corp put one and one together and figure out who Azuki really is…” He trails off leaving Endou to imagine what either of those powerful, destructive factions would do with the son of the great Ninjin Hattori.
Endou ran her fingers through her own hair as she tried to collect her own thoughts. “Who…” she started. “Who can I trust then? The only other people I would feel comfortable watching over him would be you and or Ninjin… And I wouldn’t want to give that stress or responsibility to Ninjin…” She put her face in her palms and felt like she were about to burst into tears. She painfully missed him but knew that he couldn’t nor shouldn’t handle the added stress of their child or her feelings for him. One day though, one day she would tell him about their child and maybe-
“I know someone.” Vil broke her train of thought. She lifted her head and looked at Vil from across the table. She said nothing, waiting for him to go on. “Someone I’ve known and trusted ever since I was a boy. Although you wouldn’t know it this person’s of the most affluential and most powerful people on Omega. They’re a shadow broker so they know how to be hidden and remain in the shadows. Not only that but this person could teach Azuki anything that the son of Ninjin Hattori should know…”
Endou was skeptical. “How do I know said person will even agree to take such a huge risk to take care of the son of the crowned prince of the Saiyans?”
Vil couldn’t help but grin. “Let’s just say that this person owes me a big favor or two.” His own smile put a very small and barely noticeable one on Endou’s face. A small pair of hands came up towards Endou as Azuki looked up at her with sleepy eyes, arms out stretched, calling for her to pick him up. She did just that as he nestled his head into her neck. She rubbed his back as he began to snore. Endou kissed the top of her child’s fiery red hair and looked over at Vil again.
Meekly she said, “Okay. I can trust this person because I trust you Vil.” Vil let out a sigh of relief and leaned back in his chair. “But,” He leaned forward again to look at her, a look of concern now on his face. “I want to spend one more week with my baby before I give him to this… person. Because I don’t know when I will be able to see him again. Hopefully once Ninjin finally destroys the church. Or even once Azuki here can protect himself.” She held him a little tighter and kissed his head several more times.
Vil nodded slowly. “That is understandable and doable. But one week is the most we can do. I’ll be in contact with Azuki’s new guardian shortly to arrange plans.”
Endou had gotten up and went to her and Azuki’s bedroom and closed the door behind her before Vil could go on further.
Azuki couldn’t recall anything that would make him think what his mother might be going through. Maybe he was too young to remember. He placed the picture back down on his dresser and glanced at the clock that was next to the picture. His eyes widened as he realized he was running late. He swung his door open and dashed to the training room. As he crossed the thresh hold he tripped and tumbled forward. He laid on his back and looked up to see Lilith, prepared for training, scowling down on him.
