After his trip from Namek, Brandons ship had parked itself in a local hanger in Central City.
After opening the hatch to step out, Brandon took a deep breath as Earths somewhat fresh air filled his lungs once again. "Ah, so good to be home once again..." He said, as Summers followed Brandon out of his ship, and quickly left to go find the cafeteria.
"Summers, Where you going?" He asked her as she started to walk off. "Um, Cafeteria?" She said, trying to look innocent. "Alright then, No where else other then the ship, and home. Get it?" He asked, as Summers nodded to him and left him to whatever he was doing.
With Summers busy, Brandon made his way out to the front entrance to see if things had changed on Earth at all since he had left...

On a nearby building top there stood an eerie obsidian gleam. The sunlight shined off of the knight's ebon armor as if it were an ill omen for all who saw it. His hands were relaxed at his side and his legs were straight, but relaxed and spread shoulder width apart. His gaze moved across the city below over and over, as if he were searching for something particular to happen, or for someone specifically to appear. He did not hide his power signature, nor attempt to disguise his appearance. Someone in this day and age wearing medieval styled armor was a rare sight. What made it more unpleasant was the feeling one might get when they took a feel to his energy. It wasn't full of malice and hatred like one would expect from a demon, but there was still an unsettling, almost burning property to his presence. It was the unique sort of heat that made anxious or uneasy folk break out in a cold sweat.
The voice in his head spoke up, "Baalthazar, that person who just walked out of the building across the street..." The phoenix's spectral visage loomed over Baalthazar's form to those with keen enough spiritual perception. The voice of the phoenix, however, could be heard by no one other than Baalthazar himself. The shadow Phoenix was a part of the Makaio, after all, and even though they were separate entities, they shared the same body.
"I am aware of his presence, Sardonyx. There's no guarantee he would confront us if he notices us. After all, we are doing nothing wrong. Merely standing vigilant and watching over the city. Waiting for the right opportunity to showcase our abilities and gather some infamy to show the people of this planet how much they have been wasting..."
"Your idealistic nature is going to get us sent back to that ruinous wasteland in hell. I'll be very upset if that happens. Then again, maybe if we're stuck fighting for our lives in Hell, you'd be more inclined to put my powers to use rather than standing around doing nothing. You worked three centuries on the power you have...why not make use of it instead of letting it rust and degrade?"

Brandon was taking a look around, noticing that the damage caused by Carla had been completely repaired as if it never happened at all. "Glad to see things get done fast around here..." He said to himself, hoping Summers would behave while he was away. As he would twist his body around to view the newly repaired objects, the sunlight would reflect off of his Kamacite blade, right up at Baalthazar like a beacon.
However Brandon would not be able to sense his presence, until Verlith spoke up. "Brandon, I feel something... different nearby. I cannot pinpoint where it is, but its an unsettling feeling. Keep on your guard." He said, as Brandon seemed a bit confused as to what he was talking about.
"What? Is it that Delaaa...something girl? The one that killed me?" He asked, looking around at the people that walked past him, although he could not recognize anyone. "No, This is... different then her." Verlith replied, as both were somewhat obvious to the fact of the Ebony Knight Observing them.

The gleam of that blade did have his attention. Being a dedicated blacksmith for nearly three centuries, Baalthazar could appreciate fine craftsmanship like that. The gleam of that sword in the sunlight wasn't something he'd experienced before. The sun's radiance was relfected almost perfectly. Without a warning, wings unfurled from the back of his armor and he leaned forward, falling into a dive off the front of the building. the wings wrapped around him, giving him a bullet-like shape as he descended. Just before he reached the ground the wings would unfurl and he flipped around, sliding forward to a stop as his momentum was redirected by the sudden stop. The knight's wings melded back into his armor and he stood in front of Brandon in the same way he had been standing atop the building moments ago.
The demon slowly strolled over to Brandon and looked him in the eye. Baalthazar was about six feet, two inches tall, so he was about eye level with Brandon. "Where did you get your blade from, Earthling? It is of superior craftsmanship to what I have seen on this planet so far. I am interested in its origin. The sheen it produces in sunlight is brilliant, indicating a certain purity in the metal that the materials I've seen here do not display..."
The phoenix remained silent for now, wondering what may become of this meeting. Generally strangers didn't show strangers their weapons, but Baalthazar was too straightforward to worry about such frivolities. He crossed his arms and waited quietly for the response of the Earthling, unaware that he was not the only one with a partner in his proverbial vessel. The power of the Earthling in front of him was apparent, though, and Baalthazar was prepared for the worst if it may come to that.

Brandon was caught off guard as a knight suddenly swooped in, and caught him by surprise. As He strolled over, he asked Brandon about his blade. It was an odd question, to say the least, but Brandon was glad that this knight did not appear to be hostile, yet.
"Um, The crafting materials used for my sword were hand dug from Mount Paozu, but the one forged it was not me. Although it wasn't as spectacular when I had first got it, I tempered it myself into what it is today." He replied, as he reached back, and grabbed the hilt and drew it from its resting place. However as he grabbed it, the Chaos energy in Brandons body caused the blade itself to start glowing a soft neon blue colour as soon as he made Physical contact with it.
And it seemed that the longer he held it, the brighter the glow. It was more of an Eerie glow rather then one a person would see coming from a star, or another magmatic light source. "May I ask who you are sir? To be honest, its actually a relief to see someone such as yourself amongst all these other people. I was afraid the ways of old were completely forgotten ever since I had came to this era." He asked as Verlith spoke to Brandon "Brandon, this is the source of that unsettling presence. This is not your normal knight. Use Caution." He said, but of course, on Brandon could hear Verlith's voice.

There it was. The lead for something interesting that he'd been hoping for. As the blade was pulled and brandished in front of him, the blacksmith and knight gave a small smirk under his helmet. So there was a place called Mt. Paozu where valuable materials could be found...he would need to remember this. "So, there is a place on this planet called Mount Paozu where you harvested the metal used in your blade? Where is that place in relation to our current location? I am a blacksmith and I can always use good, quality materials. You do not strike me as the sort who would be skilled with a hammer and anvil. Pray tell, what did you use to forge the blade in such a way?" The makaio had a lot of questions regarding the craft behind Brandon's sword. He hadn't even noticed anything else the human might have on him. Rather, the sword had his full attention.
"You acknowledge me as a knight? I'm surprised. The looks I'd gotten from the people of this city had been nothing but confusion and contempt. I do not know the old ways of knights from this place, but I can assure you that knighthood where I am from is different in many ways. Honor does not change in any place, though. My duty, however, is yet undecided. I have no lord or kingdom to serve as those knights of yore once did. That kingdom is in ruin and that king laid to rest centuries ago." It was nice to be able to talk with someone, even a total stranger. Baalthazar was a demon, but not a mindlessly violent one like so many others. He happened to enjoy the ability to converse with words rather than fists. Perhaps that's why he chose the path of the knight? Honor and respect rather than simple violence and force.

When he was asked where Mount Paozu was, Brandon turned and pointed to the largest mountain in the distance. "Its right there, one of the largest mountains around. That is where I also make my home, far away from the technology that has confused me since I had arrived here." He replied, as Baalthazar seemingly avoided his inquiry as to the knights identity.
Brandon felt a bit nervous when he was asked what he used to reforge the weapon into what it was today, as he replied "I apologize, A Hammer, Anvil, nor Grindstone was used to reforge this weapon. Although I do wish I had used one on my sword, as it would of given me more sentimental value. A Weapon is as only as good as the one who forged it. As for getting more good quality materials for your work, Id have to apologize to, for the materials used to craft this sword were from a Meteorite, so the materials used are somewhat..... rare in this age." as he felt a bit bad, having to dash the knights hopes in finding good quality materials.
"I like to think that most knights follow a code of Honour and Discipline, so it might be possible that you all had something in common. As for everyone being confused around you, That is because they usually find someone like you in a museum. On Display. Rather sad really... Back in my day, All this... Technology didnt exist, and the Human race was pretty much all that inhabited this planet... So I guess WE have something in common. Warriors out of their time, stranded in an age that does not understand them... Am I right?" He asked, wit ha soft smile on his face.

The knight in scorched plate glanced along the path from Brandon's finger to the expansive mountain in the distance. He tried to get a feel for what the mountain might have within. Some semblance of energy therein? He could certainly feel something odd about the place even from here, but he didn't comment on that for the time being. When he spoke the words 'A weapon is only as good as the one who forged it' the knight gave a hearty chuckle. "Truer words have never been spoken. Indeed, the strength of arms and armor is defined by the strength and skill of the smith...but there is more to it than that. The quality of materials...and the bond between equipment and its wielder...these, too, weigh greatly on the effectiveness of a weapon. I spent over a hundred years mastering the art of smithing...and another two hundred dedicating my time and energies to my equipment..." He tapped on his helmet and chest plate.
"Meteorite...no doubt a chunk of what was left of a distant planet. Such a shame...rare and valuable materials bring about very unique creations. Of course..." He held out one arm and opened his palm. The piercing tip of a very large battle axe extended from his palm, the two huge bladed edges shooting from either side of his forearm. It slid outward until the full length of the handle had pulled itself from within his body. He clasped his hand around the bottom of the handle and flipped the axe around so that it rested on his shoulder. "Materials, skill, and dedication only go so far. There are other ways...ones that I only recently discovered...to make extraordinary artifacts beyond legend."
After his little show and lengthy description, he tossed the axe into the air and looked at Brandon. The axe flipped twice before coming back down. It looked like it might cleave his skull in two, but as it touched the armor it sunk in, practically diving back into his body. He turned from facing the other man and looked out at the city again, "Technology...it's just another form of magic in its own right. Humans merely found a way to turn magic into logic...albeit a very specific and highly detailed form of magic...but their technology can accomplish the same things magic can accomplish to some extent. Magic has been around for eons, but technology only developed recently. It makes sense that one would far outstrip the other, because it's got more experience as it were. I do not see a fundamental difference between the two, though. Just that one has had more time to develop than the other."

Brandon almost panicked when he saw the knight toss his freshly materialized axe up into the air, and it almost looked like it would cut him in two, but the axe dematerialized and was seemingly absorbed into his armour. Feeling his heard pound while the knight spoke about the similarities of Magic compared to technology.
"And the more primitive cultures would mistake for the advanced technology of today as Magic. I have seen it happen multiple times. If only people today would balance out magic with technology. Things would be much better for everyone." He said, as Summers came out of the space port, licking a chocolate ice cream cone.
She saw Brandon talking with a knight, and waled over towards the two of them. Her spaded tail swaying behind her as she kept her wings against her back. "Hello Mister." She said, as she happily licked her ice cream.
"Oh where are my manners, This is Summers, shes a companion of mine. She followed me when I returned from the afterlife..." He said, as Summers smiled at the knight.

Baalthazar looked down at the smaller demon and smirked behind his helmet. "So I am not the only one who found a way to escape that place? Interesting...I did not anticipate to run into others like me." He spoke these words as the young female spoke to him. "So you know the rigors of hell, do you? From your cheery exterior I'd almost find it difficult to believe that if you didn't have one of demon blood following you around. Either you've already gone mad or you have a great deal of light hidden away in your darkness. The judgment of Yemma is not mistaken, for it is decided based on what's in your heart. If you went to Hell it's because of what your heart had decided." He stated rather plainly, not seeming to mind the fact that he was talking about the damnation of a mortal soul, or even the potential effects of going to hell...
"Demons survive there because we are born there. It's in our blood to be resilient of body and mind to the sort of things that can happen there. Most mortals...even those with great power, are not prepared for what comes once they arrive in that place. But then again I never really found the appeal of the sort of mindless violence and torture that runs rampant down there. That's why I took up the mantle of knight...and resurrected an old, forgotten way." He wasn't being completely honest...he hadn't fully brought back the ways of the Zeltenia knights. In fact, right now to his knowledge he was the soul practitioner of their methods of forging...and the only one who knew their secret to living weapons.
"I thought demons were a bad omen among mortals. Am I mistaken? Or are you an exception, boy?" He spoke to Brandon now, asking a simple question as to how the young man felt about demons.

Summers smiled as Baalthazar talked to her, assuming she had gone mad or something since she was so cheery. "Nah, Im not crazy or anything like that, its just that life with Brandon is too exciting to miss...Soo many delicious foods to eat..." She said as Brandon rolled his eyes. She was always going on about food. It was so strange of her.
"I was a Succubus in-training before I found Brandon just wrecking the lesser demons left and right when he was under the Warden's teachings. Now hes teaching me all the great things about being good. Hes teaching me to be normal, and to help people." She added, as she took a lick of her ice cream. "I was indeed born in Hell, but I found that the screams of people were just... I didnt like it. Like nails on a chalkboard. So I snuck out behind Brandon without the Warden knowing. My mother is probably worried sick, but Its what I chosen for myself."
When Baalthazar asked Brandon if Demons were a bad omen for him, he simply replied "It depends on the intentions of the Demon really. Summers is kinda like a lil sister to me now. And you seem pretty good in my eyes."

The Makaio gave a chilling chuckle and glanced back toward Mount Paozu, "Screams of suffering? No...I always thought Succubi enjoyed different kinds of screams. Regardless, your innocence tells me that you didn't get far into your training. That may be for the best. It is rare for one of our kind to maintain innocence for more than a few years after their birth. The tide of chaos in the underworld is quick to sweep up those who do not actively resist it. You should consider yourself blessed to have escaped."
Baalthazar had heard nothing from Sardonyx for a while now and he began to wonder if the Phoenix was sleeping or if he was just ignoring the conversation. Still, perhaps it was simpler with him being silent for the time being. He knew that the bird would patronize him for revealing too much about his nature by letting these strangers know that he was a demon. "The intentions of most demons can be read from the moment you meet them. They try to remove your head from your shoulders or put a spike through your heart. The only times the average demon doesn't initiate a meeting with these actions is if they believe they can use you to defeat a stronger foe or if they're afraid of you. If you defeated many lesser demons in the underworld as she said, you must at least have enough power to hold your own. I came here to harness the power I have. I refined it for two centuries, but now I must master it."
Baalthazar turned and began to walk away after that. If Brandon had more to say he'd have to follow. The knight had other things on his mind now. Investigating the strange energy he felt from the mountain was first...and questioning the phoenix on why he didn't speak up was the second... "If you wish to speak more, I will be heading to that mountain. Something there resonates with my soul."

"Blessed? Maybe. Im not even well versed in the shapeshifting magics, as most succubi are. Everytime I try to look like someone, not all of my features are hidden away. I kinda gave up on it now, but I can make some things appear out of thin air. So I think I was just a misfit, maybe thats why I escaped so easily." She said, as she was first to follow Baalthazar towards the mountain.
As Brandon watched him start to walk towards where his home was, Brandon also followed as he heard the knight say that he might have a considerable amount of power if he could defend himself. "I thank you for the compliment, however the power is not my own. Im actually a host to a Chaos Dragon Soul... Its the source of all my powers, and they dont really seem to have a limit on its potential." He said, as he followed behind the knight. He was curious as to what was drawing the knight to the mountain. He didnt think there was anything special there, atleast to his knowledge.
"Perhaps when we get to the mountain, I can show you some of my own hospitality. I live in a cavern dwelling half way up the mountain... It keeps the common folk out... most people out actually, since very few know I live there." He said, as Summers was seemingly leading the pack now, as she then looked back to Baalthazar "Ya, He can show you where he got that meteorite! There might be more hidden in the rocks! Oh oh! Maybe you and Brandon can work together to make something awesome!" she said, as Brandon shook his head with a chuckle.
"You know Brandon, Im still feeling uneasy about this knight. Hes hiding something... Plus, He hasnt told you his name yet..." He heard in his head, the dragon who finally spoke up. "Good point Verlith... Ill have to ask again..." He thought in reply, as he asked Baalthazar "So what name, pray tell, do you go by in this age?"
