BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!
An arm pokes out from the sheets which cover the cot, instinctively reaching for his phone to turn off his alarm. As quick as it appears the limb retreats, device in hand, “…Huh… You’re not supposed to go off for another few hours…” could be heard mumbled warily through the sheets. Why do I feel so heavy? he half pondered, still only half awake. Then the sound came again, five times louder than before and William shot out of his bed in a craze, smashing his head on the reinforced ceiling.
Rubbing his head he looked around, all too confused by his surroundings as he had fallen asleep in a Gunny’s ‘guest bedroom,’ aka empty closet with cot in it, and awoken in the training chamber; and by the red tinge the otherwise snow white room had, the gravity machine was already up and running. If he had his tally right, this would probably mark forty time Earth’s gravity. Though he could not be sure, the seasoned warrior was not one to take things easy.
“About time Sleeping Beauty, now get dressed,” boomed the gravelly voice over the speakers, the same ones which had just beeped him from sleep’s sweet embrace. With a sigh Willie looked down to see, surprisingly, his weighted gladiatorial gauntlets, greaves and belt adorned. Especially since the only thing he had fallen asleep in were the red boxers just beneath the heavy belt. He should not be surprised, Gunny was gruff, invasive, man who cared little for pleasantries and niceties. Focusing his body, it took Zasham’s black composition momentarily as if expanded outward before reforming into his normal attire. If anything positive was to have been gained from becoming a majin, it would be not having to get dressed, or do laundry for that matter, anymore.
“So I’m guessing we’re not going to have a heartfelt conversation over breakfast?” William spoke coyly as he yawned and stretched. “Fuck up, wise ass! Wasting time when you should’ve been training! How many times I gotta tell you, you don’t need to sleep!” he roared from the control booth. He had only slept a few hours, as he ever does, and he had been waiting impatiently for the boy to wake. It drove him mad, seeing as majin’s don’t require sleep. “Yaaawn… But I like too,” the boy added as he rubbed the last of the sleep from his eyes. “URRGH,” was the only response he garnered before the room began to morph once more, during which Willie moved the barely enjoyed cot aside.
As a stark contrast to the blistering heat of Belegost’s surface wastelands, he now found himself in an enormous cavern a few miles outside of its capital, Agartha. Where he stood was rather well lit, despite being in an underground cave. It was one of many designated training areas; the kinigos were a warrior race and thus trained everyday along with the rest of their individual duties. Arpatiko stood across from him, both of them atop a suspended arena. Beneath them was a dark abyss. Truly a good utilization of empty space, “Alright Tycho, I hope you rested well. Today you have but one more thing to learn, and then we shall see if you are ready for the mantle of Lieutenant,” the Lord’s words focused the boy.
Willie felt Tycho’s surge of pride and was eager to please the Great Hunter. “Are your mask and cannon fully functional?” he added. Watson nodded in reply, the War Mask appearing over his face as he did so, and so too the cannon pierced from his shoulder, its indicator appearing on the mask’s HUD. “Then let’s begin,” he said before becoming invisible. While William did his best to track him, Arpatiko’s disembodied voice continued. “Since Kinigo’s cannot use our internal energy as other races do, our battle suits allow us to draw out this power and harness it,” he said, reaffirming common knowledge amongst their race as Watson. “The cloaking devices functions by warping light around the our body in such a fashion that surfaces behind us are visible through our body, using our inner power as an energy source,” the sharp pain struck the boy in the small of his back and he was sent tumbling forward, as his Lord’s phased back into view.
“However there are limitations, as it is a draining and complicated process, for example, offensive actions automatically deactivate the stealth,” William had not seen him, as Arpatiko had been behind him, but as he went to strike the warped light caused a distortion which caused the invisibility to fade. Standing back up he stares down the kinigo who adds “Now try and activate your camouflage,” using another common term for the device. Closing his eyes, away from the suspended arena or heads up display, he focused. Locating Tycho within him, Watson accessed the data from his assimilation. Thanks to being a technarcana, his body used the information to replicate the battle suit’s stealth mode.
Channeling his ki throughout himself, it mimicked the cloaking ability, warping light around him much as the device which had been in Tycho’s suit when he was absorbed had done. “Well done Tycho, now what will you do-“ but he did not finish as William appeared beside him, a spinning kick striking him right to the chest. Arpatiko’s stumbled a few steps, nearly losing balance, before laughing. “Well then, if you’re sure, then I won’t hold back,” throwing his arms at his side his power spiked to its max on the War Mask’s display as his muscles bulged. Willie wished he could say the same, however the heavy weights were non-negotiable, so say Vespasian and Gunny. He swore everyone wanted him to get killed.
The Lord of Belegost wasted no time, lunging forth for a flurry of strikes William was barely able to keep up to. Then a powerful head kick out of nowhere rattled the boy; a Kinigo’s leg was stronger compared to their arms than even humans were, thick cords of muscle rested beneath metal plating. Uncontrollable cartwheels followed, only stopping when his face caught the arena’s surface and he skidded to a halt. “Come now, Lieutenant of the Great Hunter must be more aware than that,” he said before disappearing, which Willie quickly copied.
Several times a sonic boom would erupt from where their invisible blows met, each time briefly becoming visible before they fell back, reactivated stealth and sought one another out once more. Since scouters, and other relative form of scanning/sensing, were not very effective, it made their invisible battle a matter of careful precise strikes. Eventually Arpatiko’s dual gauntlet blades raked across his chest, leaving two parallel gashes in his jacket, hoodie, and shirt. Miss stepping as he backed away from the slash the boy tripped, just in time for the Hunter’s special shocker orb, fired from his unique shoulder cannon, passed overhead.
Stepping forward the kinigo thrust the blades down, just as Willie rolled to the right and then swung back with a kick to Arpatiko’s war mask which knocked him back. Arching his back he shot his legs up, performing a kip up, landing on his feet with a smile and adding, “Always wanted to do that,” before his Lord was upon him once more, a short spear in each hand, ki infused tips at their ends. With deft precision he struck with each, alternating between stabs and slashes and he swung his body around and moved with their weight, pressing forward as William backed up.
Using his body weaponization the boy formed similar gauntlet blades of his own on each arm and met Arpatiko face to face. Tapping into Tycho is a much as possible he pushed his abilities as he quickly adapted the kinigo fighting style, seemingly to learn as he fought both mentally from Tycho’s memories and visually from Arpatiko’s own movements. Both took several slashes, though the kinigo’s hurt quite a bit more as they had ki reinforced blades at their heads. Also the Hunter had a personal barrier between his suit and skin, making his attacks all the less effective despite being nearly even in power.
Knocking each arm away with a spear in turn, Arpatiko dropped a boot straight into his chest, knocking all the air clear from his body. As Willie flew back from the force, both spears followed him. Digging his heels in, he smashed one spear aside while the other pierced his shoulder. “Hmph,” he said as his majin body moved itself internally, shifting the spear outwards until it spat it out. Then came the propelled energy blades, which Willie just dodged in time, only to have a shocker orb stick him in the back. The surge of electricity brought him to a knee as his muscles contorted and spasm.
“A Lord does not lie to his people,” came the kinigo’s voice as he his distorted appearance came to view as knee smashed in the nose of the knelt Watson. “I said I won’t hold back.” The boy quickly fired a Vanishing Beam but it simply sailed through an afterimage, as Arpatiko appeared behind to leave a slash down his back to match the one in front, though this one pierced skin and sent searing pain throughout. “And I won’t.” Swinging around with a kick he hit nothing but air as Arpatiko was gone once again. Through haggard breath the boy did his best to center himself, despite the Kinigo appearing in and out to deal painful blows.
The heavy weights made it difficult to keep up with the warrior as it was, but his advanced experience thanks to being centuries old was hard to match. Utilizing zanzoken and cloaking was draining, but he was powerful and used it effectively. Willie drew on his advanced ki sensing and scouter, but still only traces, enough to block a few blows. Even the war mask could not help; he was moving too fast and circling. It was near impossible to get him the line of view to even potentially see through the façade. As most things are, something was born then out of necessity.
Combining his knowledge from absorbing the scouter Zex gifted him, Tycho’s war mask which the scouter allowed him to unlock, and the universal standard advanced ki sensing, he formed an amalgamation of the senses. Absorbing the war mask back into his body he reformatted his eyes. Being technarcana allowed him to upgrade and consolidate; the HUD now appeared in his vision, as he so chose, though not visible to others. Beyond that using the precision of the scouter, mask and ki sensing a radar of sorts formed within his mind.
He felt his ability to feel extend beyond his body, feeling everything within a twenty five meter circle around him no different than the blows Arpatiko was bring down upon him. It was strange to describe, due to the synchronization of machine and majin, as the three dimensional scanning as a hard to take in; it was almost like sonar. Imagine someone suddenly getting sonar, it was quite unsettling. However in moments he was able to control it by focusing it on the kinigo’s ki signature. Now while the cloaking still made him hard to see, he was better able to track his movements now that he had sight beyond sight, some may say.
There he was, lunging toward Willie’s back as he was still knelt over; just as he reached him Watson through back a hand without looking and fired a crimson beam. It struck Arpatiko completely unaware, exploding and sending him skittering for once. “Incredible, you have synchronized your senses? Perhaps you are read,” before he could finish however it was William’s turn to surprise attack. Using zanzo majutsu, the boy left a three dimensional afterimage who looked and moved as if real. However it was a magical ruse, as William stopped with his lips right beside his ear and unleashed a heavily weighted full power Vice Shout at point blank range.
The mere concussive force blasted the kinigo away, while his ears were blown and systems overloaded. As he reeled Willie held mentally aimed and fired his shoulder cannon, a crimson beam shooting out and catching the falling Lord in an explosion. A few moments went by, but Willie was still on his toes. The debris did little to impede him now, and as he switched his eyes to thermal, he watched the orange and red of his body disappear. “Not bad,” the boy heard as Arpatiko appeared before him, dual gauntlet blades tickling the bottom of his chin. However, William was smiling, and as the kinigo looked down he saw why; the boy had the blades of his left gauntlet a hair away from the skin of his rib cage. His beam had blasted some of his armor away, and the spot left a great opportunity; as the blades were angled up, should Watson follow through it would travel up and pierce his heart.
Then, looking back to Willie Arpatiko’s mask made a decompression noise as it mechanically lifted up, turning so as to reveal his face and cover the top of his head. For the first time Tycho could remember, he saw the kinigo smile, no easy feat given their four mandibles and rows of teeth, “Not bad at all.”

Cloaking – While cloaked the user is hidden to the naked eye. However their melee and ranged capabilities are limited in this as full power is required to utilize this function; as such any offensive action taken will deactivate the stealth. Scouters, like other forms of scanning or sensing, can pick up the traces of someone who's cloaked though not with pin-point accuracy. [Lt. Tycho, 5k]
3D Scan Mode [Master] – By fusing Advanced Ki Sensing, Scouter, and War Mask he’s attained complete control of his many senses, forming a new one altogether. It allows for a constant three dimensional scan of his surroundings; even allowing him to see straight through buildings. This new mode helps him identify threats in every direction, up to 125 feet. Being a technaracana he has assimilated the technology thus, when active, the HUD appears in his vision though his eyes appear normal.
