The phrase all good things come to an end is one that we often throw around with little meaning to it. In most cases things do not end well. They typically end in some kind of fight that rocks the fabric of the situation and tearing it so far that it would not be able to be repaired. However when you get the moment to part in amicable terms it is one that must not be over looked. Often times you hear people ask sudden retirees why now and they respond: I am leaving because I want to not because I need to.
With all of that said it is with a heavy heart that staff has decided that Dragonball Awakening: New Beginnings will be closing our doors. This was not a conversation that we had lightly but one we needed to have. After two and a half years of great memories and moments, ones that we all know will not be forgotten no matter hard we try. With the way the site is designed, just like all sites of similar design, two things become a problem: an increasing large power gap between new members and old, and the need for perpetual conflict. While we have made valiant attempts to mitigate these they persist and we know this. While these things have always been present they are not the reason why we ultimately decided to close.
The reason was that staff has felt that the part of our lives where the site is one of our main priorities is coming to an end. We have always said that real life takes precedent and that the site is for fun, it is not meant to be work. Those two aspects are being challenged by members of staff now. All of us are entering into new stages of our lives and it pains us to say this but the site has grown to become more of a job then it is meant to be. It is supposed to be fun and a place where we can escape problems in the real world. Considering all of this we decided that we wanted to end the site before letting it fall into disarray.
While some may ask why we do not hand the site off to others the reason in our minds is simple. We do not wish for the memory of the site to be ruined in well mannered intentions. We have seen several sites before be taken over by others only for former members to complain that the memory of it was destroyed by the new staff. We do not wish for this to happen. We wish for everyone to remember Awakening with fond memories.
In an effort to try and have every character have their moment in the sun we are going to create another thread for each member to write down what they wish for them to do until the ends of their life. Using this we will compile an epilogue that we feel every member can feel happy with how their characters came to an eventual end. Of course if you want you may also post your own epilogue pertaining to your own character.
We wish to thank everyone you from the bottoms of our heart for the fond memories you have provided with us. They will be cherished and looked back on with joy.
Thank you,
Staff
