The grey and black stone gate opened with a clicking sound of the chain cranking back. A dark room of emptiness was then suddenly illuminated by the brilliance of the arena lights. Val's vision was suddenly blinded. Wincing at the brightness and covering his eyes up, Valgrad stumbled forward and entered into the arena. The roars of a thousand people deafened him and all that could be heard was his own thoughts. He stumbled a little further until his vision finally returned. When he finally could see, he found himself standing in the center of the Arena. Valgrad gazed upon the masses; both cheers and boos were being chanted. Valgrad then looked up as he saw a tower with an announcer standing at a podium. Val had been brought here to fight, to entertain, and to be beaten. Val knew that if he didn't win, the chances of his death were likely; although, killing him would be a feat in and of itself.
Valgrad studied his surroundings well. This wasn't just a blank slate of stone. Several pillars littered the area, good for cover. He had also seen a few doors that were on the ground, obviously traps of some kind. The setting itself was a gladiatorial arena of sorts. It was round, not square; and their didn't seem to be any 'out of bounds' section as the floor of the arena went all the way to the walls. Several gates were at each of the four main sections of the arena (North, South, East, and West). The arena itself was massive and quite elegant. The architecture was of a sharp and rugged-Gothic type style. Spikes and sharp edges with black, grey, and crimsoned granite decorated the massive structure. Valgrad was quite impressed even when his life was on the line.
Valgrad then looked up as the announcer came on over the speakers. "Ladies, Gentlemen, and other manner of beings. We are gathered here for one purpose and one alone. TO SEE A FIGHT!" The announcer's voice echoed through the stadium and the crowed cheered as his sentence stopped. "Without further delay, let's get this party started! We all want the same thing, and that is... A BLOODY BRAWL!" Valgrad's stomach churned a bit. Why had they picked him? He was a no body, but maybe that was the reason. No one would miss a 'nobody'. The bio-android then waited to see what opponent they would have in store for him.
