Making her way through New Vegeta the half-saiyan known as Akassa Hattori was on a mission, literally. It was not your traditional military mission, but one that was necessary just the same. By the order of the Saiyan King, her father, she was to inspect both of the major military barracks that were located in the city. The first of which was entry level base, the first stop for all new members of the Saiyan military.
Strolling down the street the female often chose to walk instead of use bukujutsu when there was no real reason to rush. In her opinion it showed more confidence, more power and worked as a statement that where ever she was headed would wait for her, even if she took some time to arrive. Besides, it also gave her the chance to see more of New Vegeta. To Akassa the city was a marvel, the first real Saiyan civilization to be created since the resurrection of their race.
Just like Hall of Kings the city had been improved upon and improved upon a number of times over the years. Buildings had been added in where they could fit and where they could not stories had been added onto existing ones. Some of the tallest buildings resembled those of the cities on Earth even if Saiyan architecture was much more appealing to the eyes than the rigid ones humans preferred.
With her tail swaying casually behind her and no suit of Saiyan armor she might have appeared as your average female citizen, but most knew her face and that this was not the case. Using the sidewalk, she had no guards, yet those that ended up in her path stepped aside, offering in the very least an inclination of their head, most bowing. She may be the lowest rung in the ladder that was the royal family, but she was indeed still a member of the royal family.
Rounding the corner the first of the bases she was to inspect stood before her. It was a large building, about 15 stories, and quite wide as well. As a culture the Saiyan’s prided themselves on their strength of arm and combat ability. Because of this New Vegeta’s military was already solidly established. When a Saiyan child became of age, 13 for most, they were introduced to the entry level training. Up until they proved themselves they were trained within or around the barracks, even sent on missions that were within their skill level. Once approved to move on their next step was the senior military barracks, a continuation of their training, but at a much more intense level. This was the last stop for most warriors; very few making it to the Elite class of warriors, Akassa was one of the later.
Making it up to the main door the royal Saiyan simply shoves them open, the doors never locked to this establishment. Strolling inside she heads down the main hall, headed for the Officer section of the barracks. Checking with the Officer in charge of the barracks would be the easiest way for her to get updates on how the training schedule was holding up. Stepping into the Captains office she wastes no time announcing herself to him.
Looking over paper work the male Saiyan puts it down and turns as soon as she announces herself and her reason for being here.
”Captain Rardic I have been sent by the King to check up on the current progress of those enrolled in the entry level training program.”
”Yes, of course.” He says as he snaps up from the chair, offering a solute as his fist presses to his chest.
”Follow me and I will give you a quick tour of the facility while I inform you of our progress.” Taking the lead he heads back down the hall she had come, but turns before making it to the main door. Making their way down the hall he would start to ramble on about the number of recruits they had in the most recent wave, and those that seemed to stand out so far. Before long they would arrive at the training grounds towards the center of the structure. Pointing out to the soldiers hard at work with exercises he continues.
”As you can see we put them all through the basics first still. We start them with basic Ki techniques such as your generic Ki blasts and bukujutsu. Once these have been established we start to put them through a string of various training regiments to see what it is they excel at or need improvement on. From there, if they prove to have certain strength we can help them specialize in a certain style of fighting if they prove to be truly adept at it. Of course not all make the cut, most being reassigned to guard duty at the various low security positions around the city. Now for those that possess real talent we continue to recommend them for the senior military barracks.
Do you have any questions Commander Akassa?”
Akassa had listened to it all, the same training having been set up for as long as she could remember. When she was younger the hybrid Saiyan had not understood why they did regular inspections of the barracks if nothing ever changed. However, as she grew older she began to understand the importance of the crown being consistent and diligent. These inspections were more than just checking on the status of the current warriors being trained, but to in force the rules over and over again, the slight deviation resulting in at least a reprimand to prove the crown would not allow slack in its military.
[/b]”Tell me the name of your top two students.”[/b]
”Yes of course. The top two in the current wave are Kluv Nordark and Driak Tous. Both are well rounded and are going to soon be recommended for the senior barracks.”
”Very well. I want reports on both of them, in detail and I want them to continue even after they advance to the senior barracks understood?
”It will be done Commander Akassa, anything else?”
”No, that will be all. I shall return next month for my next inspection. With that she turns to leave, the Captain saluting her as she does, keeping his mouth shut. When a member of the royal family said they were done with a conversation it was over. Having gotten what information she needed from the barracks she heads back down the hall, heading towards her next stop.
Exiting the facility Akassa turns to head to the next, the senior warrior barracks. She herself had never agreed with it classification since most of the true veterans of the army no longer attended any barracks training. There was nothing like training one received in the field, when your life was truly on the line. The senior barracks should have been more appropriately labeled as the advanced barracks or something similar. Snorting some she shakes her head a little, knowing she was only 21 and more skilled than anyone you could find in the second barracks.
Setting a brisk pace it does not take her long to arrive at the second stop on her small mission, the Saiyan Princess again shoving the doors open without pause. A warrior in the hallway turns with his first up, but immediately drops them and salutes as he realizes who it was that had entered. All but ignoring him she continues on down the hall, once again heading for the Captains office.
Arriving she found it empty, the female glancing out once before realizing that he was not there. Clenching her jaw some she exits and heads towards the training grounds at the center of the facility. He was no doubt in the middle of a training session, something she could easily understand. Heading to the training grounds herself. Rounding the corner Akassa finds she was right, the Captain out in the middle of the training ground, speaking to a group of warriors. In general the waves that went through the senior barracks were smaller, a much stricter process in place to select those that moved on to this step. Seeing her suddenly entering the training grounds the Captain alters his speech.
”And some of you might one day even come close to rivaling the skill of Princess Akassa Hattori some day, although I doubt it.” Upon finishing his statement the Captain salutes her, the other warriors following suit either out of respect or because they knew it was required of them.
Akassa actually offers a small smile, not normally one for flattery, but taking to it every once and a while. The change in his speech was no doubt for her benefit, and although the words were true she wondered how many of the warriors thought they had the potential to actually come close to her. Laughable really, Akassa was one of the strongest around, and she was only beginning to find her power.
”Good day Captain, I am sure you know why I am here. Give me an update.” Folding her arms over her chest the female waits for him to fill her in, wanting this to be over quickly so she could return to the palace.
”Training goes as schedules Akassa. Each day a pre-selected group of warriors is either sent on a low level mission or worked through a special scenario here. Based on performance we evaluate and reassign for the next exercise. In the past year we have had only one casually on low level missions and that was due to an error in judgment, not a lack of true skill or an error in assignment. In three months time the next class of warriors that have qualified will be accepted full time into the service of the military.” Finishing his statement he salutes again to signify that he was done.
Nodding Akassa walks in front of the Captain to walk past the assembled warriors. Looking each of them up and down she keeps her face neutral as she does, not wanting let on to what she was thinking. At first they all seem to hold up under her scrutiny, but after a couple of seconds they seem to get uneasy. For starters they were still in training and new to this part of the military, never mind the fact she was a member of the royal family.
After looking at them all she turns back to the Captain and smiles again. ”Well done Captain, make sure to keep up with the schedule, understood?” When he nods and salutes yet again she actually gives him a nod in return, her mood improving as she gets closer and closer to returning to the palace.
”Carry on men.
As they salute her she turns on her heel and heads out, not even glancing back at them, but knowing full well they held the salute until she was out of the room. Even though she knew that behind her back things were often said of her half blood origins she did enjoy the respect that had to give her in person. Once outside the barracks she breaths in deep, ready to return to the palace, the mission her father had assigned her complete. With a push of her legs she launches into the air to head back towards the palace. It was time to train.
