Hmmm. This just didn't make any sense. Carmen knew she had seen this part of this particular forest before, but was also sure she had been walking in a straight line. Frowning the pink haired Makaio stomps her foot in frustration. All she wanted to do was find a city or village in which she could acquire some food, her stomach was starting to devour itself she was getting so hungry.
More than just a little frustrated and quite lost she plops down onto the stump of a long dead tree. The trunk still lay besides the base of the tree, but was almost indistinguishable from the ground thanks to an abundance of moss and grass growing over it. The stump on which she currently sat was probably jagged at one time, but years of weather, animals and insects had worn it down to a relatively flat surface. Letting out a long sigh Carmen lets her head hang not sure how to get out of this damned forest.
Looking down at her folded legs and her stumpy seat her eyes go wide as she notices several mushrooms that had sprouted from the side of the rotting wood. With her frown snapping up in to a wide smile she reaches down and yanks one free. Holding the fungi up in front of her she eyes it a little, thinking it looked like most mushrooms she could remember. Pulling it closer she sniffs it before shrugging, it didn't smell too bad for something that had been growing out of rotting wood. Licking her lips she hesitates just a moment before popping the toadstool in her mouth. Carmen immediately regretted her decision. Once the mushroom touched her tongue the pungent flavors of rot and dirt were all she could taste. Gagging the female starts to spit on the ground, dropping the deceiving fungus as well. It had looked so tasty yet had tasted so awful. Scraping her tongue with her teeth the Makaio struggled to get the horrible taste from her mouth, the rotten flavor of the mushroom seeming to only get stronger as time went on. Spitting several more times Carmen wasn't sure if she was ever going to be able to taste anything properly again. Curse this damn forest. Rising up off her stump she turns her head to the side as her arm lifts up. Using the somewhat rough material of her shirt sleeve she manages to get rid of some of the foul taste, dragging her tongue along her sleeve several times. Finally satisfied with the cleaning of her palette she spits one more time before smacking her lips loudly. Glancing around the small clearing she was in Carmen lets out a sigh, her shoulders slumping in defeat. She had only been back on Earth for several hours and she had already managed to get herself hopelessly lost. Nevermind the fact she was still starving, her stomach audibly grumbling in response to her thoughts. Patting her belly softly she tries to decide how to get out of this mess. "Yeah, yeah I know you are hungry, don't you think I am as well?"

"I wouldn't have eaten those mushrooms were I you. They're called 'Destroying Angels.' I'm surprised your not hunched over in pain, hallucinating and vomiting. Then again maybe you are hallucinating and i'm a figment of your imagination." Zad called down from his position high in the trees to the young woman who was wandering through the forest. It was chance they had happened to cross paths, but the green cloaked summoner didn't fully believe in chance.
He hopped down from his tree into the young woman's path, holding out an fresh green apple in front of him for her. He had picked many on his way there, having traveled through an orchard to reach where he was now. He smiled warmly. Archimedes found his way onto the summoner's shoulder and smiled at the young women as well.
"My name is Venerazad Redowen friend, but most people usually just call me Zad."
"Why doth thou bother? We always find ourselves helping the rabble" [/i] Mephisto said in Zad's head, but he ignored them. Oceanus nudged his soul, seeming to approve of his helping this woman.
She was the first person he had seen traveling through the forest, and she seemed to be more than a little lost. Zad was one with the forest though, and he never considered himself lost when trees and grass were his companions. He held the apple out in front of him, not a hint of malice on him, a kind spark in his eyes and a smile on his face. He got another out of his pouch and started munching on it himself.

Carmen heard a voice from above her, the Makaio turning to look in the direction from which it came. Squinting some to try and spot the owner she didn’t have to look long before a strange looking creature dropped down in front of her. Watching him land softly in front of her the females eyes widen as he holds out an apple. Zad would not have to bite into his own apple in order for her to take the one from his hand, Carmen’s hand snapping up to take it from him. Despite the fact they had just met and she had no reason to trust him the pink haired “Human” starts to devour the tasty fruit.
Taking bite after bite it was obvious that she was incredibly hungry, in case her attempt at eating the poisonous mushroom wasn’t enough of a hint. As he introduces himself she smiles at him, pausing for a moment to give him her name…with a mouthful of food.
”…Car…men…”
Taking another loud bite of the delicious treat he had given her she was quick on her way to finishing off the fruit. Spinning it around in her hand she starts to work it down to its core, seeming intently focused on eating minus the small pause she had taken to give him her name. Carmen had never felt so hungry in her life…well at least she didn’t think she had for she couldn’t really remember. On top of that this apple was just delicious, so nice and juicy.
Finishing the apple a whole ten seconds after it had been given to her she tosses the core aside. Brushing a couple of strands of pink hair aside she smiles at him, her lips and cheeks speckled with apple bits. What a nice…man this was? Looking at him for the first time really she was unsure of what he was. Well not completely unsure, he was a Zad.

Zad quickly procured another apple from out of his pack and tossed it to the pink haired human in front of him, for she had so veraciously eaten the first one he had given her. She had given him her name in between bouts of biting, Carmen. The summoner took a flask from out of his pack as well and took a sip, then offered it to the human.
"It's unusual for me to find any others in the forest on my daily wanderings. So if you don't mind my asking, what are you doing out here, so far from civilization?" Zad asked with a smile, taking another bite of the large green apple in his hand.
"Why bother?" Mephisto said, trying to further his cause of leaving the young human in the forest lost and alone. The very thought alone made the Makaio laugh within him. He felt Oceanus tackle the Makaio, and shut his mind off to their horseplay.
A tiny voice on his shoulder cleared his throat, causing Zad to chuckle.
"Forgive my terrible rudeness. This is my familiar, Archimedes. He's a book imp, and a constant companion." The book imp took a sweeping bow, ever one for showmanship. He left his prior question hanging in the air. Why was this young one so far from civilization and deep in the woods. She was lucky it was Zad that found her, and not someone with malicious intent.

Carmen caught the second apple with ease, her hands and fingers quite dexterous from years of practice with various firearms. Taking a rather large bite of the apple she starts in on the fruit, but with a little more control than last time. Before she had been solely focused on eating, but now her eyes drifted up to meet this Zad’s eyes. A sudden new voice drew her eyes off the foresty looking creature to another small one that sat upon his shoulder. So engrossed in eating before Carmen had failed to even notice the small imp sitting on the man’s shoulder, the Makaio not always the most perceptive of individuals when she wasn’t looking through a crosshair.
Smiling at the small imp just as she had at Zad the pink haired girl would seem quite childlike despite the fact she appeared physically to be in her twenties. Even though she was young, she wasn’t completely devoid of manners so after Archimedes was introduced she offers a small bow to the two of them as she crunches into her tasty green snack.
”It is nice to meet the both of you, Zad and Archimedes, thank you very much for the apples I was sooo hungry. Those mushrooms were indeed quite disgusting despite the fact they looked so yummy. As for what I am doing out in the forest…I am quite lost to be honest.”
Turning Carmen points to the direction behind her then makes a walking motion with her fingers as she explains how she arrived to this point.
”See I was walking from the field over yonder and even though I was walking in a straight line I am relatively certain I have come through this small clearing three times now.” She leans in a little, letting her voice lower some as if telling him a secret. ”If you ask me…I think this forest is magical or something…” Her eyes look to the side as if she was expecting someone or something to appear that would confirm her suspicion.

"I had thought you looked to be a little lost. Don't worry, you're now in good company, I am a story-teller by trade, but also a competent summoner should we run into any trouble. Without a doubt I can help you through the forest if you so desire" Zad stroked a tree next to him lovingly, as if it were an old friend.
"I know every root and rock in this forest as if it were my veins and bones. I am one with nature, I am a Wilden. And you would not be incorrect in assuming this forest was magical, it very much is, but then again so are all natural places in this world. My father used to say, 'Zad when you are surrounded by trees and rocks and woodland critters, you are surrounded by the magical the worlds have given you.'" He smiled at her a very warm smile, the memories coming back to him. Archimedes coughed and tapped Zad on the shoulder, sure that he was going to go on and on as the storyteller had a propensity to do. "Though not that you need to know my life's story."
The Wilden finally noticed the look she had shot to the side. He too turned and scanned the forest, but sensed nothing. If there was something there, it was outside of his highly attuned senses to pick up on.
"Is there something amiss young one?"

Carmen smiles when he mentions that he would help her find her way out of the forest, but grins when he mentions he was also capable of handling any trouble they might run into. Taking a legitimate read of him for the first time it was a fact he was stronger than her, but the well trained marksman was more than confident in her own strength...nevermind the two pistols at her hips.
Not wanting to be seen as some helpless creature she yanks her Vulcan's free of their holsters in one quick, fluid motion. Moving much faster than an average human could she brings the guns up in between them in order to show Zad and his imp. It was in now way meant to be a threatening gesture, the speed in with which she had done it simply because she was not the best at controlling her excitement.
"No, nothing is the matter, i just dont trust the trees. I would very much appreciate the assistance with navigation this forest Sir, but I am quite capable of handling myself if trouble should arise." As if the firearms themselves did not explain enough she takes it a step further. Lifting her right arm she presses the barrel of Minerva (for that was her right handed pistols name) to the side of her head. Mouthing the word "bang" her head jolts to the side as if it had been hit by something before she bursts into girlish laughter.
With her stomach no longer devouring itself she was in a much better mood, that made quite obvious when she spins away from him. Her arms and pistols fanning out to the side as she completed three full spins before stopping and looking back to him. "Now...which way are we headed?"

Not even a flinch occurred from the Wilden when the young female drew her pistols in excitement to show off. The same could not be said however for the book imp standing on his shoulder. Archimedes stumbled backwards and barely caught himself on the hood of Zad’s cloak. The Wilden chuckled at his tiny friends predicament and gently helped him back onto his shoulder. His ears perked up when he heard Carmen say she didn’t trust the trees and another chuckle escaped him.
“The trees in this forest mean you no harm, as is the case with most forests. I have run into my share of malicious flora in my day however.” He sighed as he remembered some far off event. He shook his head, his silver tresses shaking the many memories away.
“Doth thou not find this pointless?” Mephisto paced back and forth in the clearing before him, invisible to Carmen but clear to Zad and Archimedes. The large Makaio sneered at the summoner, but they were bound by soul even if the demon didn’t like it.
The druid’s eyebrows rose in alarm when she brought her pistol to her temple, having seen the destructive powers of such devices on the many worlds he had visited, but his tension was released along with her laughter.
“As to what direction you want to go… well that depends on where you want to get.”

Carmen shrugs a little in response. So he trusted them...then she supposed she could as well. After all he did claim to be close with the trees even if he did look like some made up creature from one of those table top games some boys played. In didn't really matter though, for he had fed her and the easiest way to the Makaio's heart was through food. Carmen wasn't sure why she enjoyed food so much, but just knew it to be true. Maybe it was best to stick with this one for a while. He was nice, smart and most of all, seemed to have plenty of apples.
For these reasons she makes up her mind that for the time being she would travel with him, even though she had not asked for his consent. Hearing her knew travel buddies question she is momentarily lost, having no true idea where she had been going in the first place. Chewing on her upper lip she glances around their small clearing as she ponders for a couple of moments which direction looks best.
"Well travel buddy, I was hungry before you gave me those apples, but now that I am not so I don't really need to go to a village or city any longer. So...is there any place to have fun in this forest of yours?"
With ease she twirls her Vulcan' s in her hand before slamming them home into their holsters. Hooking her thumbs into the belt that supported the weapons she grins over at him. No longer so hungry she was looking for entertainment and since her partner had known so much already she assumed he knew where they could find it. [/div]

Zad knelt and put his hand to the Earth, feeling the force of it fill him. This forest was so alive and wonderful, he could sense the nearby creatures, watching calmly as the Wilden interacted with the young human. A place to have fun in the forest that, that was something he could provide her. He smiled warmly at her.
“You seem to be quite deft with those pistols of yours. How about a spar? Nothing life-threatening I assure you, but this will be quite the story to tell if we involve a bit of conflict between the heroes.” The destruction wrought by those devices he had seen that was true, but the spirits he contained within him were beasts and demons of legend, it would take more than a few bullets to take them down, even if there was something off about the guns on the young one’s hips.
“I know a clearing not far from here that would prove a most interesting arena for combat if you’re up to it.”
He wanted to show his new “travel buddy” what his powers were. It normally delighted and entertained those to see that there was more than just Zad’s spirit housed within his small frame, not many suspected an eight feet tall lord of demons or a ten-feet-at-the-shoulder-foot bear made out of high pressured water.
If she said yes he would lead them to the clearing, a beautiful temperate forest clearing surrounding a waterfall. Moss covered rocks abounded, a small stream leading away from the pool under the waterfall taking gallons of fresh and crisp looking water down towards some unknown destination. Birds chirp happily in the fresh air. A buck would look up lazily from drinking at the pool, unperturbed by the new entrants to this hidden local. It was beautiful, and if Carmen had agreed, it was about to be filled with the sounds of sparring, disturbing the quite peace but bringing an excitement to the Eden. Zad would not let the place get too destroyed, it was the forests property and not his after all.

The girl’s eyebrow rises as he suggests a spar between the two of them. Taking a moment she realizes she cannot remember the last time she fought against someone. She knew she had done it in the past whether it was for survival or just for fun she was not sure…perhaps both? Chewing her lower lip a little the pink haired Makaio seems to space out for a moment before looking back to him, realizing she had been standing there in silence. Not wanting to seem too awkward Carmen smiles wide at him.
”Sounds fun, but don’t whine when I kick your ass.” Letting him lead her through the forest towards the clearing he might hear her occasionally skipping when she falls slightly behind, the female seeming to fall behind on purpose just so she can skip to catch up. In most ways the girl probably seemed normal, but Zad no doubt noticed the odd traits she possessed. Even though odd there was nothing dangerous about the girl despite the fact she carried two pistols with her.
As they enter the clearing Carmen finds herself amazed by its beauty. In most cases she preferred cities and technology, but that did not mean she did not appreciate the natural beauty to be found in the world. Skipping past him towards the buck that had stopped its midday meal to look at them she lets out a sigh as it turns and runs off, her sudden movements having made it uncomfortable. The creature’s flight disappoints her for a moment, having wanted to get close to it, but her mood quickly swings back to positive as she turns to face her new travel companion. With just a smile her arm snaps up towards him, one of her Vulcan’s leveled in his direction. Apparently satisfied with the area she pulls the trigger, a pink beam of Ki blasting towards him.
