Waking from a nightmare with a sudden gasp, William, having ‘molded’ into the chair at his mother’s side, sat up in the seat and look around. It took several moments to realize he was free of the dream which had haunted him many nights in the past week. Looking to his mother for comfort, he smiled at seeing her asleep peacefully in the hospital bed. In spite of all the tubes and machines hooked up to her frail body, he could only think of her cured. One more day; then he would leave to carry out Zex’s mission. Upon his return, she would be the vibrant woman she once was.
“Love you ma.”
He whispered as he leaned over to kiss her on the forehead. Exiting the room, he began walking towards a room he had not yet entered. It was a training room which Prometheus had installed specifically for him, so he could train in the days leading up to his departure. Never one for training, as it was only recently he had the strength to bother; he had thanked his new employer and promised to make good use of it.
However he had not as he had spent the remaining days carrying out as many Deliveries as possible, so as to leave his family with money. The boy was not the confident type, but rather a realistic one. Willie knew full well he may not return, and in that case, he wanted to make sure that his mother and sister were not left with nothing.
“Okay, let’s give it a whirl.”
William mumbled to himself as the heavy metal door slid open ominously. It made him feel as if he should have said ‘open sesame’ first. Entering the room, the door repeated the process in reverse, locking Willie into the room. Walking to the opposite end of what now appeared to be a gravity chamber, the boy stepped up to the only terminal.
“Welcome Mr. Watson, do you wish to train?”
It state coldly before he could even reach out to touch it. Letting his hand drop back down to his side he thought it over for a moment. Then a surging pain rushed his mind, forcing his eyes to wince and body to jerk. It was the same image, over and over, which had kept him up night after night. The same one that had awoken him minutes ago. Suffering through it, he hoped that training might distract him, or otherwise somehow lessen his agony.
“Yes… Please?”
Was all he could manage before dropping to a knee, the haunting image overwhelming him. It was two rings of fire, but it was not there simple shapes or content which pained him. In their centers he saw fire and brimstone; as if looking through the eyes of the devil upon his wretched domain. He could smell ash and soot, despite there being none, and the vision being nothing more than just that; a vision. Yet it continued to haunt and taunt him, just as the cacophony of wails which emanated from the swirling fires’ cores.
“Gravity increased to five times normal levels. A simulated opponent is being materialized for battle.”
He felt the weight hit him like a ton of bricks; especially with the increased gravity making his weighted accessories even more daunting. The room was well equipped, although one should not be surprised with the Lord of Alpha Prime funding it. Taking deep breaths to calm himself, he stood and turned, only to come face to face with his own demon.
“Boo.”
The obsidian Majin, with rows of needle like fangs, held up a palm. Instantly, red energy sprang forward, taking William in its throes and depositing him against a wall of the chamber. The Vanishing Beam was quite a surprise, as was coming face to face with the it. William pulled himself to his feet in a failing attempt to defend himself, proven as the monster closed in on him instantly, grasping him by the throat and lifting him as it pressed him against the wall.
“You die now.”
William could feel the darkness encroaching upon the edges of his vision and wondered if it would stop. If it could stop. It was a product of the simulator, and yet it was something more. Thinking to Vespasian, and what he had learned from him, Willie acted fast. Bringing both arms up and then down, he broke the hold. Dropping to his feet he then shoved a boot into the shorter monster’s face, sending him reeling.
“Computer, end simulation!”
He yelled, as the images of the flaming rings once more began to weight upon his mind, no different than the gauntlets and greaves of his Master weighed down his body. It did not end, though, as the creature stood to his feet with a sickening, toothy smile.
“Malfunction; unable to terminate simulation.”
It was a disheartening sound to hear, as well as the sound of the beast’s fist smashing into William’s face. The blow sent him skipping across the metal flooring and into another wall. Rolling to his stomach and then pushing himself to his hands and knees, he let out heavy haggard breaths. His mind felt as if it was being pulled in a hundred directions at once; he could feel the very fabric of his sanity tearing apart at the seams.
“I, Zasham. You, nothing.”
Holding out his palm once more, seemingly to end the fight, William lashed out as the pain became too much to bear. With a furry of strikes, utilizing kicks and punches, Willie pressed Zasham back. His mind flashed between the blazing circles depicting hell and his fists pounding into the rubbery flesh of his tormentor. A red aura began surging around him, unbeknownst to the fury fueled Willie. Never before had he displayed an aura and to be honest, he did not know he could.
But an aura was the last thing on his mind as his power continued to rise. The white of his eyes darkened until they were black as night, and his blue eyes bloodied to a vicious shade of crimson. Holding both his hands outstretched at his sides he let out a harrowing howl as he unleashed the pain within him. His aura raging, two rings of dense red ki formed in his hands, each with a noticeable distortion at its center.
“THIS ENDS NOW!”
Throwing one ring at the monster, and another away from both of them, he held up a solitary palm. Knowing the set up to his own birthright better than any, Zasham rushed forward, dodging the ring of solidified crimson ki. As he reached William, the boy unleashed a Vanishing Beam into the creature’s chest, sending back down his traveled path. Holding up another hand, this one facing away from his enemy, Willie fired another beam, this one heading right towards the second chakram. As it passed through the center, it disappeared, only to reappear behind the beast.
The ring Zasham had dodged turned and faced him as he was sent flying towards it via the initial wave. The Vanishing Beam which had disappeared, reappeared out of this ring, and the two beams collided, with the Majin in the middle. There was a massive explosion and then… Nothing.
“What… Are you?”
The boy said, looking down at the rings as they dissipated; reabsorbed back into his body. Letting out a haggard, tired sigh, the boy stumbles from the room, pausing only to allow the door to open enough for him to slip out. As the door closed behind him, Zasham’s laughter could be heard echoing through the hollow chamber. It was he, through use of his technaracana powers, which allowed him to take control of the simulation and override the computer.
It was he, through William’s nightmares, who saw his masterpiece technique brought to completion. Through the ki that flows through his body, and the magic which exists within his every fiber, he combined the two to form an amazing weapon.
While Willie, was none the wiser…
[PL. Heavy Weights, x5 Gravity, Simulator]
Hell’s Gates: They are two enchanted chakrams of densely concentrated ki, each a foot in diameter. He is able to mentally guide them when airborne, though the most unique feature of this technique is that at the center of each chakram is a magic portal, appearing as a slight distortion, which leads to its counterpart. Energy attacks from others, and physical matter, pass through unaffected. Only uncharged, standard level, energy attacks of his may pass through them [May only have two chakrams at once].
