Not many people knew this but out in the wasteland surrounded by unyielding desert was a small town which was properly named Oasis. There were only three hundred or so people and they lived humbled lives most of them staying out of pure tradition while others hunted through the desert for abandoned treasures of those left wandering their massive backyard. They had braved all kinds of extreme weather, faced down some of the fiercest dinos the earth had to offer, but nothing in their lives would have ever prepared them for the day Nex made his way to town.
Nex knew little of the world of men but one thing was for certain, where there were people there was food, and he was starving for nourishment. The abomination had not meant to cause harm or fear he was simply a weary traveler seeking food and water just like the countless others that blew into town but the first pair of eyes that landed on his midnight blue skin bugged out of their head and sent them shaking to their knees. It was like that at first, no screams no action, only surprise and fear as he walked through the town looking around in confusion as he continued to search for a place to eat.
It was a little girl that broke the silence, a terrified yell that shattered the awkward calm like glass before revealing the fear that boiled beneath. The men opened fire, several guns trained on his with bullet after bullet pelting his flesh but to him they felt like pinpricks, tiny little things that stung but were otherwise ineffective. His confusion turned to anger and with that rage he lashed out, sending a small blast into one of the men responsible. He gave a blood curling scream and he was no more, just a burnt corpse on the ground.
The men kept at it but try as they might nothing hurt Nex enough to drive him away or put him down. Instead they only managed to anger him more a rage fueled killing spree against any and all in his path. The body count sky rocketed, no one not women or children were safe from his power and before long the screaming had stopped. Some had fled, abandoning the place before they died like the rest while Nex started to calm. Without the stimulation of their overreaction to drive him his thoughts became less clouded and he could see now the fruits of his labor. He did not like what he saw. Nex didn’t care that they were dead, bodies littering the street as houses caught fire from the blasts and explosions of their little fight. No he had no one left to give him food and that was all that mattered.
As luck would have it the diner door was open, a body propped against it that allowed the aroma of a cooked meal to waft into his highly sensitive nose. “Food…” There was food everywhere, unfinished meals on the tables as well as an order that was never delivered just waiting for his bite. He ate like the animal he was, from burgers to steaks he consumed it all and lapped up any water he could find. Nex eventually found his way into the kitchen which greeting him where three children, a boy standing with a knife in his hand which shook along with the rest of his body while two seemingly older girls cowered behind him as the held each other and whimpered at the sight of him. Nex raised a hand his energy gathering to end their lives, but they just stood there, frozen in fear as death stared them in the face with pupil-less eyes.
He continued to stare, eyeing them all for a full minute before he allowed the energy to drop and he resumed his hunt for food. They were no threat to him at least they didn’t attack him like the others so Nex wouldn’t bother wasting time when he could be filling the void that was his stomach. He feasted for another ten minutes and the children scurried away the moment they say an opportunity, but that was fine for Nex. This town was his now, at least for the night as he could sleep and gorge himself on the remaining supplies before moving on to the next town in search of a purpose, in search of a challenge.
