Despite what most off worlders believed about Namekian's not all of them enjoyed meditation. In fact, Caracol could name at least a dozen others that did their best to avoid the frustrating silence and stillness to pursue absolutely anything if it meant avoiding the exercise, but as it were Vail had seen to it that he practice it at least once a day. So here he sat his feet folded below him his hands resting in their presence while his eyes closed and he floated a steady four inches off the ground. Caracol was an introvert, so usually he found his attention latching onto his breathing, a slow steady repitition that would drown out the rest of the world as his own body became accutly aware of all the hidden treasure troves of information that lay just below his conciousness. That was the usual routine, and while he did hate to be so still one could not argue with the results as his power was starting to grow as he coaxed it out. But today was different.
Today on what should have been another clear day for New Nameik, with another three suns rotating in the sky, the sounds of waves slapping the shore Caracol decided what he could detect if he looked outward instead of in. Needless to say it was not as easy as it sounded. There was an alarming amount of sound that drummed at his ears that would otherwise be ignored, bugs buzzing away in the breeze, fish splashing as they try to snag their prey from the air above and all sorts of chatter and clatter of the village surronding his home. Yet even past that was something else, a feeling that the could not place. Caracol sat for hours but to him it felt like seconds. Slowly he drowned out the distrations, gently he pushed aside the chatter only to find himself face to face with an unexplainable darkness. It wasn't the same as closing one's eyes, an illusion that blankets you into sleep but rather an uneasy feeling that loomed just beyond sight, just beyond the horizon. It caused Caracol to break into a sweat, his heart thumping faster the longer he focused on it. With a gasp he pulled away, opened his eyes and found himself on the floor his head against the cool stone that was his house. Before him stood his father, a namekian that was getting on in years with skin darker than Caracol ever noticed before.
"You've sensed it?" It was more of a statement than a question, in his eyes Caracol could see that his father knew exactly of what it was that the young namekian faced in his isolation.
"Yes....what is it?"
"We don't know. The elder's fear it is the return of the times of old, the approach of evil that will once again push us to the brink of destruction. I had wondered when you would sense it, but i find myself wishing that you hadn't. I have no words of comfort to wrap around you child, no power to give that would help you to defend yourself. All i have is my permission to give, and I give it now. Go out Caracol, go out and learn what you can from the rest of the elders. Forge a path that might make you strong enough to fend of the darkness that looms before us, find allies to help you and do whatever you can to help prepare our people. It won't be easy, but take comfort in that you are not alone because every namekian brother is with you in spirit. Go my child, go and find a future for us all."
