“The shuttle shall be entering the event horizon in approximately 5 minutes sir.”
“That’s great but why is your voice coming in so slow?”
“Due to the gravity of a black hole time is slowed upon getting caught in its gravitational field, the closer one drifts towards the event horizon the more time is slowed. Recent reports suggest that time itself might slow too that of less than 10% of time outside the gravity out the field.”
“So in the time that passes here it will be more than you experience?”
“Correct sir, many times multiplied what you’ll experience.”
“And then what?”
“Data unknown. Nothing has be tracked after going through a black hole. Studies suggest two main theories. Either the object that passes through will without harm or….”
“Or the object is crushed by the gravity.”
“Correct sir. However one has been programmed with a solution that might allow safe passage.”
“I wasn’t informed on any program of such a caliber.”
“Scientists up loaded it in as a backup contingency in case such an event would became available.”
“Which is?”
“In case such an event would happen the program would release a nuclear charge that would-“
“There’s a nuke on board?”
“Correct sir.”
“And why I’m I know just finding this out?”
“You did not ask. One might suggest for safety reasons given.”
“…continue.”
“Just as the vessel would reach the event horizon the nuclear device would be detonated. Such a large burst of energy on contact with the even horizon might create a tunnel through the immense gravity.”
“Which means what?”
“A worn hole in terms you might understand.”
“So that would grant safe venture through the black hole.”
“Indeed.”
“Are you sure about that?”
“We are not sure whether the vessel will survive, data beyond that is limited to what simulations and said data provides. Since black holes have never been tested up close before such data is limited to theories.”
“What do you think?”
“One was not programmed to think, my CPU has limits to what we have been programmed to do.”
“So it’s anyone’s guess?”
“Correct.”
“So the options are either a slow death or possible passage?”
“….”
“Hello?”
“Sir the connection has been lost.”
“Shame, will we know if they have made it through?”
“No sure, unless they are able to return through we might not know for years.”
“Did we get any useful data?”
“Plenty sir.”
“Good….”
Approaching the out skirts of the bar Anri could feel the eyes of a dozen others watching him, their dagger life stares digging into his person. Thank goodness his skin was strong than steel otherwise it might have hurt the Vennor, shrugging off the glares that followed his movements he continued towards the seedy bar. Of course not everyone there was so against the new presence in the area, a few individuals look towards him lustfully; cladly clothed revealing more of their body than Anri thought need be. Being new to the galaxy he wasn’t sure what to make of them, he couldn’t even tell what gender they were, or even what half of them were. He was really hoping that all they would do wouldn't be more than just continue to watch him but that wasn’t his running luck today. One of the (women?) broke away from the group, waving her ample hips she made her way over to him.
“Oh god not this.” He groaned over the loud surroundings.
“One has computed that you couldn’t do much better than it.”
Before Anri could get another word out to the cube the alien had reached him.
“Hello there, haven’t seen your kind around these parts before.” She said with a slur on her words as a snake like tongue probed from her mouth.
“Um, ya…new to the neighborhood.”
“Ah welcome to out humble city, we have many ‘Sight’ and places to ‘explore’ here.”
“I'm sure you do.” Though he wanted to back away from the situation his military instincts told him to hold his ground, even if the fight was being lost he would hold his ground to his last breath.
“Can you think of any way I might be able to help you with that?” The alien girl rubbed her smooth scaled hand over his chest plate, with no nerves in the plate he couldn’t even feel the movement.
“I’m sure that you could but as it stands I currently have no income, and I have other places to be as of right now.”
“Oh-“The alien backed off slightly.
“Well when you do have some ‘income’ come find me, I’d love to find out just what your kind can do to a little thing like me.” Backing away she smoothly slunk back to the rest of the call girls, joining her group as they tried to attract more customers.
“Well I don’t think I’ve ever felt more uncomfortable, even that time I was arm deep into the bowels of someone when I tried to disembowel them.”
“One would surmise from your elevated heart rate, blood pressure and body temperature you are-“
“Don’t even fucking start robot, we are in deep space and I wouldn’t think twice about tossing you off this space station.”
“…one would also surmise that you are a virgin.”
Taking the cube he reared his arm back, flipping his arm forward he launched the cube into the crowd, in his raged state he had forgotten that there was people around him. As soon as he left the cube go he immediately regretted the choice, with nothing else he could do he watched as the cube fly through the air smashing into the back of a person’s head. The cracking sound echoed through the area, whoever was in the nearby vicinity stopped in whatever they were doing shocked at what they had seen. As if time its self as stopped everything almost seemed to freeze even the sound died down.
“Ah…shit.” Anir had always had always had a temper and this wasn’t the first time something like this had happened to him. Though last time it happened he was arm deep in someone bowels, he didn’t remember correctly but he was sure that he could feel their heart beat, though if he did it stopped when he tore out their large intestine.
Whoever the person was they dropped to the ground as blood shot out from the back of their head, if they weren’t dead they were going to have one hell of a head ache when they awoke. Still caught in his throwing stance he felt frozen, waiting to see what would happen next. The group of others that were surrounding the struck person turned to face Anri staring him down, they’re glaring eyes ripping into his armor.
“Oh you just fucked with the wrong people.” One of the aliens spoke out.
Turning to face him he could already see them slipping hidden weapons out from their jackets, most of weapons seemed make shift from whatever metals and scrap parts they found in the area. Anri didn’t even try to talk the guys down, there was at least half a dozen of them and their anger was their driving force. Not that he would ever want to talk them out of the fight, he could sense the longing fire burning inside their chests, as a warrior of his people he knew what that felt like and he would never turn from a fight.
“Alright then, let’s do this shit then.” He was well out numbered but that had never stopped him before.
Any of the nearby on lookers quickly moved out of the way of the in suing fight, not wanting to get caught in the cross fire between the two sides. Breaking away from the main group the men quickly surrounded Anri giving him no chance of escaping, not that the idea had pasted through his head, it had been a long time since he had seen any real combat. Heart beating against his chest he could feel the adrenaline flowing through his veins, his already fast beating heart would have sounded like a jack hammer to anyone that could get close enough to him. Clinching his hands into well tightened fists he readied himself for his attackers, knowing that given that any second they would all launch at him. It was a coward’s attack method but they had numbers on their side so he wasn’t going to comment on such a thing.
The attack happened as if they had done this many times before jumping at him from all side using their make shift weapons, with no time to spare he ran towards his closest attacker slamming his shoulder into the chest of it. Not excepting such an attack the alien had let himself wide open, with a loud cracking sound the alien flew backwards into the side of the bar, slamming his back against it hard metal siding. With no time to spare in his victory he whipped out his hand in a jack knife point, stretching his arm out to max length he spun his body around just as another attacker was coming at him. Using the torque of his body he swung his arm around at full speed impacting the temple of the creature, with a dull groan he spun around from the force of the hit, falling to his knees with a blank stare in his eyes. Not a fatal hit at least that was the plan of the attack, he didn't want to kill them; just a group of punks that didn't have much better to do than terrorize others.
Dropping down to one knee a crudely made mace missed him by a few inches, though he couldn’t feel his plates he imagined a breeze gusting over his back created by the weapon. Putting his full weight into the attack the alien’s momentum caused him to lean over when his attack missed; using a large amount of force in his legs Anri leap up from his crouching position slamming his hard shell into the jaw of the alien, casting him backwards towards the ground as blood seeped from his mouth. He was trying to yell something at him but he couldn’t understand him through the lack of half a tongue as it lay on the ground wiggling about. Hearing rushing feet against the ground he turned to his right just in time to see another one of the group charging at him with a dagger extending out. Near waist level the shot was aimed at his gut, but he wasn’t about to let the sad excuse for a weapon touch him. Stepping out to the left he reached out with his hand grabbing onto the wrist of the creature, quick stepping with his feet he placed his foot behind the aliens. Pushing up and back with gripping hand he slammed the dagger hand into the chest of the alien, hitting his foot against his it caused the creature too fall backwards over Anri's foot. Slamming onto the ground he turned around to the last alien, whatever the hell it was it looked damn scared of what was to come next.
Still determined to fight the alien ran forward with the club he held in his hand he brought it down and smashed it on Arni’s head. Excitement spread across his face as he had gotten a hit in but the emotion quickly drained as the weapon shattered across his hardened skin. Pulling his head back up he looked the alien in the eyes.
“What a shame that was a really nice bat.” He joked with a toothy grin spread across his plated face.
Backing away Anri could see the excitement that was once in his eyes was now replaced with fear, as small beads of sweat roll down his face. His eyes scanned the round trying to find an escape, but there was no where he could run at this point. With no other option he ran towards the crowd, with a scream he grabbed the closest person he could get his hands onto and pulled them out into the cleared area. Holding a small knife he had kept concealed, he pressed it against the persons neck he clearly was using them as a hostage. Taking a few second Anri realized it was the alien girl that had tried to sell herself to him earlier.
“Alright, here’s the way this is going down. I get out of here and I’m taking her with me.” His nervous voice called over her whimpers.
Staring at the alien for a few second Anri shook his head, placing his hand against his fore head he began to laugh.
“Really? Really...This is how you’re going to play this off? Taking a hostage?” Anri mocked the alien.
“Don’t test me man, I’ll kill her!” The alien yelled at him.
“Please help me!” The female alien called out.
“Shut up!” He yelled as he pressed the knife against her neck, drawing a small amount of blood. Tears ran down her smooth face dropping down like rain drops.
“Now I’m-“ Was all that he could get out as a bright blast of heat struck the side of his face melting the muscle and bones away from his body. Knife dropping from his hand the alien slumped over falling to the ground as blood squirted from his open skull. Weakened from the experience the woman fell to the ground tears running down the sides of her face. Though the blast hadn't hit her the heat from the blast gave her a nice tan on the side of her face, leaving a light burn on her skin. Compared to what might have happened to her it was the best choice he had at the time.
“Getting real sick of that shit.” Anri noted as he walked over the attack woman, taking a knee before her he looked her over.
“Other than the small nick and your nice tan, you alright?” He asked her with concern in his voice.
“Ye- yes.” She managed to mumble out as her body shook.”
“Good was hopping I wouldn’t have to find a medic.” He returned back to his normal self.
Looking around he hadn’t even notice the crowd was staring at him with blank faces, he couldn’t tell if they were thrilled that he had kicked the shit out of the aliens or terrified that he had kicked the shit out of them. But before he could get a chance to ask them he heard a voice call out from behind him.
“Oh look at this here now, I offer to buy you a drink and you end up bashing these punks faces in, I don’t believe that was on the menu now was it?” Diagon called out from behind him.
Standing up Anri turned around to see the small alien a few feet away from him, cleaned up from before he now worn a different set of clothes than the worn ones from before. Not only that but he was now welding a small cane in his hand, leaning against it most of his body weight was resting on the small wooden stick.
“Ya wasn’t really a planned thing, just kind of… ‘happened’.” He motioned with his fingers at the bloody patches that covered the area.
“Yes well lets hope it doesn’t ‘happen’ again.” Daigon did the same motion with his fingers.
“Now….” He walked past Anri and the beaten bodies.
“Shall we?” He motioned at the bar.
“I don’t see why not. Not like there's any alien punks blocking our path.” Taking a few steeps forward a voice called out from behind him.
“Wait, isn’t there anything I can do to repay you?” The female alien asked, tears still running down her face.
Turning his head he looked over his shoulder at her.
“Ya. Find yourself a different profession and get some less revealing clothes, for damned sake you’re a woman, act like one.” He scoffed at her.
Walking towards the entrance of the bar with Diagon he leaned over pulling the cube out of the fallen alien’s skull with a loud suction noise, as blood ran from the edge of the cube.
“So what have we learned?”
“…One is aroused by hookers?”
“Damn you cube.”
Laughing Diagon went through the wooden doors of the bar followed by Anri and the cube.
