It had been about a week since Anri had taken his first assignment from Nesu, since then he had be lounging around the station taking a look at all the sights and cultures around him. Alpha prime was very diverse in its population, he guess it could well hold over thirty million, if not more. He had only seen the lower district of the city so he had no real idea of the vastness of the structure from other than what he had seen with his own eyes. Often he would spend hours of his days just wandering the streets learning from all the creatures he came across, with so many worlds from which they came from it was like a fountain of knowledge just waiting for someone to be washed in its waters. Even with the poorly maintained environment around them they seemed rather happy to be living here, all different people melding together to from a working society, degenerate society, but it worked.
Jogging his way back to Iron Spicket he slid inside the building from the back door rather than the front, he didn’t much care for all the eyes that watched him whenever he walked in. Walking in the door lead to the kitchen were already the stacks of food were being prepared for the coming work day, knifes lay scattered around on the counters while pots were set to boil on the burners. Standing behind one of the counters was Mika who was chopping away at a type of vegetable that lay on the chopping board, hearing the door slam shut behind him she jumped a few inches off the ground. Whipping around shock was spread across her face until her brain realized who it was; breathing a sigh of relief she place her hand over her chest.
“You scared the crap out of me Anri!” She walked over to him giving him a few pushes on his chest plates.
“Hehe, sorry about what did I tell you about leaving the back door unlocked? One day it won’t be me.” He apologized.
“I know but I always forget, things just get so busy here that I overlook the small things. I mean it’s not as bad since you gave me that extra cash, I still can’t believe you just gave it all too me.”
“I didn’t ‘give it’ too you, it was a fair trade. I can stay here as long as I want and get a free meal, and I paid you, pure business.”
“But you could have bought your own house if you wanted too!”
“Eh, used to sleeping with a bunch of loud jerks all around me, it’s like nothing has changed with all those slobbering drunks below my bed.” He laughed.
“Plus there are a few bonuses of staying here right?” She winked, pulling her arms in a hug around his chest.
“Ri-right.” He shuttered out, with little steam rings floating from his mouth.
“Hehe, you’re so cute when you’re nervous. Always seems to happen around me, any reason for that?” She laughed, breaking away from the hug she went back to the counter and began the prep work once again.
“Wish I could chat a bit more but even with the extra help there is still a lot that needs to be done. He’s out picking up the delivery right now, so I’m stuck doing all the cooking.”
Looking back over her shoulder at him a spark of memory came back to her.
“Oh one last thing, a messenger came by earlier with a letter for you, I didn’t open it but it’s with your little cube friend up front.”
“Thank you.” Anri grinned as he walked past her, pushing the door open that lead out to the bar he saw the cube sitting on the bar top, staring off into space.
“Heard you had a message for me.”
“Indeed sir, someone delivered it while you were out.”
“Great let me have it.”
A small slot appeared in the top of the cube not much bigger than a few sheets of paper, as a envelope sprung out of it. Reaching over he pulled the envelope out, it seemed to be just a note; one could never be too careful when it came to random letters.
“I wonder if I could cook toast in you.”
“One does not have applications for said function, plus the crumbs will get in our mother board.”
“Right. Let’s see what he have here.” Taking a hold of the end of the envelope he ripped the letter open, releasing the contents that lay inside of it. Pulling a piece of paper out he unfolded it and scanned over the words printed on it, however still not being familiar with the moon speak he really had no idea what it meant.
“Hey cube if you can up link to their extranet do you think you could find a translator for this?”
“Establishing connection…connection established…searching…searching…search complete, downloading program… download complete, scanning letter.” It spoke as a laser shot out from its eye, running its way up and down the paper.
“Anri, it has been a week since our last encounter. Your services are being called upon again, today at noon you know where to go. Don’t forget I control the cards. –N.”
“Great its that jerk off… as much as I really don’t want to go I don’t have much of a choice do I?”
“One can suspect that you could always take over the station.”
“Think so huh? Don’t think I would make any friends that way.”
“Friends are not needed when one is in charge.”
“One way to look at it, but even if I wanted too I’m not ready for such a battle. Have to position all my pieces before I can attack.” Patting the cube on its top he headed back into the kitchen were Mika was still fixing up whatever it was that she was cooking.
“Got some more work, so I’ll cya when I get back.” He walked towards the door.
“Hey!” She yelled at him.
“Whoa! What!” He whipped around to face her, the suddenness of her voice startled him.
“That’s all I get? Just a ‘cya’?”
“Er- what else did you want?”
“I dunno maybe a goodbye hug?”
“Oh right… still new to that concept… of 'hugs'.” Walking over he held out his arms as she practically jumped into his arms, causing him to stagger backwards a few feet.
“That’s much better.” As she nuzzled her face against his warm neck, he swore he could have heard her purr just at that moment.
“Now be safe, I don’t know exactly what he made you do last time but I can’t imagine it was safe at all.”
“I know, I know.”
“Well good.” She poked his face before jumping down from his arms.
“Now scat you, don’t want to be late." She gave him a light push towards the door.
“Now it just seems like your trying to get rid of me.” He laughed taking the hint he opened the door to the outside.
“Good luck steamy.” She winked at him, then closed the door. He heard the slight clinking sound of the lock, as a smile spread across his face.
Walking through the factory door he expect it be too full of workers down in the assembly line but he found no such people working, rather an empty floor. It was rather quiet for what he was expecting being that it was supposed to be a factory but still even with just the workers it was still loud but them not being here seemed to make the place have an eerie presence too it. His brain told him that something was off but his gut told him to continue forward, when everything else failed he always followed his gut feeling it had never let him down before. Traversing across the upper levels of the factory floor he searched for signs of anyone else, but rather than trying to find them with his sight he used his ears. Light couldn’t pass through solid objects but sound could bounce off them, it would give him a better chance of finding someone without having to check every damn room.
Off from a corner office of the building he could hear the sounds of people talking to one another, but it didn’t sound like anyone he had ever heard around here before. With all the people missing from the factory and the lack of a greeting something was defiantly up, being careful not to make too much noise he slid across the floor. If something had happened to his employer he would much like to know, if he had to find a new job it would be best to know sooner than later. Then again the issue of having Nesu breathing down his neck would be gone so he might not even have to work anymore. Pressing his back against the wall he leaned over to one of the blind covered windows that faced out from the office towards the factory floor. There was a small gap in the blinds that gave him some idea of what was going on in the room, he could see a few people sitting in chairs talking to one another. They all appeared to be wearing black suits with high powered weapons slung over their backs, combat boots and a few of them wore head gear. Just from first appearance they appeared to be a merc group of sorts or something along those lines at least, even through their clothes he could make out the lines of their muscular well-toned bodies.
Suddenly Anri felt something sharp prick him against his neck, even though he couldn’t see it he already knew what it from just from the feeling.
“Move and you're dead.” A voice called out to Anri.
A creature stood behind the Vennor holding a decent sized blade up to his neck, the tip of which was pressed against the fleshy part of his body. Not having much choice in manner Anri did as he was told, even though he was more than able to smash the person’s face in he wasn’t about to risk a knife to his neck, one of his most venerable spots on his person. However he wasn’t going to let them get away with putting a knife to his neck, not by a long shot.
“What are you doing here?” The hushed voice asked him.
“I could ask you the same thing.” Anri whispered back at him.
“Don’t play coy with me, I’m the one with the blade in my hand, your fate is in my hands.”
“One doesn’t tell someone their going to kill them unless it’s a hollow threat, one just does it.”
“Don’t think I will?”
“You would have by now if you were going too…plus I don’t think you going to get the chance.”
“What are you- ah! My eyes!” He yelled out as a puff of gas escaped from Anri neck, through their whole back and forth he was just staling time to build up enough of gas pocket to get him off of him.
Releasing his grip on the dagger Anri was quick to ram the alien in the ribs sending him sliding backwards into a nearby wall as he hollered out in pain. Blinding by the acidic gases that had begin shot into his eyes he had no idea of what was going on before him other than what he could hear, which where the rushing of footsteps coming at him. Taking his shoulder he rammed into the alien with all of his force, ripping into the metal wall of the building they both found themselves outside the factory rolling onto the metal flooring. Taking a hold of the ground with his hands Anri was able to stop himself from rolling, coming to a screeching halt his finger had ripped chucks of metal off the grid. Shaking his hand he looked over at the alien as they managed to pick themselves back on their feet, even so he could tell that his attacks had already done a number on the creature. One of his eyes was shut closed with burn marks tracing their way across his face, and he clutched his hand over his ribs, either they were broken or sevierly fractured from a strike like that.
From the large hole in the wall the others appeared sticking their heads out into the lights of the city, not knowing what had happened they were surprised too see Anri in the court yard. Seeing that their team mate was in danger the four of them flooded out through the crack landing on the ground to before him, it was clear that they were pissed about what was going on.
“Uzii you alright? Who the hell is this guy?” One of them spouted out at the wounded alien.
“ if I know, he was spying in on you guys so I thought I would take him out. Shot something into my face, burns like hell.”
All at once they whipped out their automatic weapons at the attacker lighting Anri up in flashes of bullets, taking a knee he covered his neck with his arms as the bullets impacted into his plated body. Just like the time before the bullets harmless slammed into his outer shell breaking into shrapnel on contact, he barely felt a thing. Emptying their clips into him the sounds of empty shots could be heard as the echo of the bullets faded from the area. Shaking slightly to get off all the particles of lead off of him he stood back up to his full height staring down his shoots.
“Shit, I don’t think a single one of them got through too him.”
“Guys he's wearing armor or something.”
“I think he is 'armor'.”
While they seemed to be distracted with the turn in events it gave him a chance to attack, he was defiantly outnumbered but he had won worse fights before, even with their fancy automatic weapons. Charging forward he brought his leg up and did a swiping kick towards the closest one, bring his arms up in a cross the alien managed to block the attack but the force behind it was more than enough to sending him flying across the field slamming into the factory wall behind them. Already the other two jumped back and away from Anri's range, seeing what strength he packed within melee range they didn’t want to get close enough to feel what one of his punches could inflict on one of them. The one closet to his left pulled out a pair of tonfas which Anri didn’t think much of a threat until they burst to life with electricity bursting off of them. Though he knew he had other threats surrounding him he didn’t have enough time to take notice of what they were doing as the alien charged towards him swiping at him with the shocking weapons, rather than see if his plates would absorb such a attack he chose to dodge out of the way. Though not one to be graceful on his feet he managed to successfully evade the attacks, that was before something came up from behind him and wrap his arms into a bind.
“Ill hold him down, get him.” He could hear from the person behind him.
Struggling to move his attacker came in towards him, thrusting the tonfas into his chest, the energy surged from the weapon and up into his body. His nerves felt like they were on fire as he fought against the random twitches in this body, whoever was on his back though seemed almost immune to the attack as they seemed to keep their grip just as strong as before. The pain from the shocked seemed to grow worse the longer it weapon was pressed against his body, but either he would eventually fall over in pain or the energy would run out for the weapon, however he wasn’t about to wait for either one of those to happen. Taking a deep breath his power level spiked as a large burst of heat shot out from his body, screaming out in pain the person that was on his back leapt off, falling onto the ground they flailed about in pain as burn marks could be seen on their hands and face. As his power leveled climbed higher and higher spikes began to pierce through his armored shell, as steam shot through small cracks in his body filling the area above him with a cloud of steam. One lesson anyone should know is never piss a Vennor off, they might look intimidating in their normal form but when they transform they are terrifying. With two attacker out of the picture he still had two people to worry about even if one of them was injured, and in his current state he was more than sure he could take them on.
“That’s more than enough.” Nesu called as he walked towards the fighting groups.
“Nesu?” All of the them seemed to call out at once.
“Wait…you guys aren’t working for him are you?”
“Are you?”
“Would have been nice to know you had other people on your pay roll.”
“I could have but then were was the fun in that?”
Anri snarled out at Nesu as smoke bellowed from his mouth in thick puffs.
“You keep pushing me Nesu and ill-“
“You’ll keep in line is what you’re going to do, don’t forget without me your off this world in a matter of minutes.”
“You keep saying that but I have yet to see these people you’re so fond of talking about, I’m starting to wonder if you’re really as powerful as you make yourself out too be.”
A flash of anger shot across Nesu’s face before it was replaced by a fake grin.
“Anri, Anri, Anri… it would be a shame if something were to happen to that little place down on the docks, oh what was it called…Iron something.” He pretending to try and think of it as he tapped his chin.
“You son of a-“
“Now if you do what your told, I’m sure everything will be ok. But if not… accidents can happen.”
Anri could already feel the energy surging into his hands as heat was pouring off of him like water falling off the falls, as much as he want to set the man on fire alive he couldn’t. Taking a deep breath the heat dissipated from his body, with his plates closing up again his body temperature returns to normal, even the spikes sunk back into his skin.
“Much better, now there was a reason I didn’t tell you about each other. I needed to show you what Anri was capable of before I sent you out on your task, if I had not you would have doubt his skills and the mission performance would suffer, which means my profits suffer, which means your pay checks will suffer. This way everyone will profit from these action.”
“That’s great but he blinded me!” Uzii yelled out at Nesu.
“Please, I’ve seen much worse before. Here.” Pulling out a small contain from his shirt pocket he tossed out at Uzii, with his lack of depth at the moment it was impressive that he had caught it at all.
“Put that on your face, not too much mind you.”
Screwing the lid of he smelled the green paste inside of it, trying to figure out just what the yell it was.
“Ya…no, I’m not putting this stuff on my face till I know what the hell it is.”
“It’s a salve made from a special plant that can only be found on a faraway planet, it will cure almost anything. You can eat it, put it on your skin, whatever. Now quit your bitching and use it, or pass it too someone that will actually benefit from my words.” His sharp words cut into Uzii, who after a few seconds plunged his fingers into the green substance and rubbed it on his face. Almost as soon as the suave touched his face already the burned area around his eyes began to fade, once he pulled his hand back away from his face his eye was back to his normal state as he could once see again.
“Holy hell.”
“And see what happens when people listen to me, something good comes out of it.”
“Uzii, If you’re not too busy crying over your face I could use some of that.”
“Shut the hell up Juta.” He yelled at the burned alien who was still lying on the ground.
“So what did you call all of us out here for? I can’t imagine why you would need all of us, I’m more than enough to take care of whatever you need.”
“In most situations I could agree with that statement however for what we’ll be doing it will require many different types of skills, not yours alone.”
“What is so important that you need all of for then?”
“I need all of you because we're going to pull off a grand heist.” His evil grin shot across his face again.
“But you could have bought your own house if you wanted too!”
“Eh, used to sleeping with a bunch of loud jerks all around me, it’s like nothing has changed with all those slobbering drunks below my bed.” He laughed.
