The tiny vessel flipped through the void of space away from the Ironclad ship neither of them had any idea if the attack had even struck the mighty ship, the shield barrier that protected it was strong to say the at least but it wasn’t invincible, it was his hope a that his attack had been more than enough to penetrate through the electrical field. It was a rather good sign that no follow up attack came as they drifted towards the planet as its gravity took a stronger hold upon the vessel, though it could have also been for the fact that there was no real point in attacking the damaged vessel. Only one could clearly see that it was going to collide with the planet in the near future, with the high winds that ravaged the planets skies the ship would have little chance of surviving such powerful gales, why waste energy on something that would be gone is a few minutes. Whatever the reason nothing seemed to slow the ship down as it drew ever closer towards the planets raging storms, Anri sat quietly in his seat as he thought about his position. Rather than try to keep his eyes open and focus at the ever moving outside he closed his eyes to better think, and too keep him from getting any dizzier. He was in a tight spot, his ship was badly damaged, heading for a uncharted, possibly uninhabited world, and there was an enemy vessel that was quite possibly about to fire another shot into the back of his skull. No shot had come as of yet which was a good sign, if his attack had actually broke through the shield it would have ripped apart the insides of the behemoth. He had seen such a ship design before while he was out searching for parts for his vessel, it was a similar version even though the exterior was different they shared the same internal structure, and if his shoot had been true his attack would have broken straight into the fuel tank of ship. As of now though he had no idea of whatever it had succeeded it or not, regardless he would have to ignore such possible threats as there was others to worry about as of the moment.
Unknown to Anri though his shot had been strong and true as it had slammed into the electrified blue shield with a stunning shower of light as the two opposing forces braced against one another, each side pressing against one another with everything they had behind them. He had been correct in his assumption that being closer would give his attack more power, without factor of distance the energy was more than enough to combat the opposing shield, it was so much that the burning ball being to penetrated the shield causing it to warp around the impact site. The shield were design to give a limited out of leeway in order to make taking hits less likely to shattered the wall but it would only bend to a certain amount before giving into the outside pressures. As if a chain command the shield dropped all around the ship leaving it defenseless to outside threats, which was exactly what the little ball of light was. Slamming into the hull of the ship it shattered through the metal frame, tearing through the layers of metal the vacuum of space filled the decks of the ship, those that had no been lucky enough to reach safety in time were quickly killed by the lack of pressure in space. Continuing through the layers of the ship the ball of fire cracked into the fuel tank with a ear cracking explosion that sent fire flowing through the hallways of the mighty vessel, already half the ship was set ablaze when another explosion cause the ship to crack in half as fire launched out into the void of space. The attack its self and been little more than a ember compared to the ship of the ship but it had managed to rip the ship in half with its power.
“Computer, how long till we reach the planet’s atmosphere?”
“Less than a minute.”
“How quickly will the effects of the winds be noticeable?”
“Not too long after we breach into the atmosphere. Maybe ten seconds with the rate that we are falling, maybe less.”
“Are the flaps still working?”
“All in contact with full mobility.”
“Great I’m taking over the controls.”
“Shouldn’t this be something I do? I am the better pilot.”
“That is true when we’re drifting through the vale, but when we’re on a planet that’s my field of expertise. It requires feeling the air changing around your vessel, and you don’t have the ability to feel.”
“Well that hurt.”
The two shared a light laugh which helped to break the ever looming tension in the air, such a disastrous event was about to take place and it was unknown to Anri whether or not he was going to make it out alive or not. There was no fear inside of him but he was on edge, living like this day on day they feeling of being at deaths door always seemed to follow him, and he liked it. The rush of knowing you might die fueled him in such times, it wasn’t as though he wanted to die, just be so close to the edge he could almost see the other side, it made him feel…alive. A grin appeared on his face as he could feel the slight shaking of the ship as they had broken past the outer most layer of the planet’s atmosphere, reaching forward he took a hold of the steering wheel as he brought it closer to himself. With a proper grip on the control he steadied the ship but he could already feel the strong winds trying to pull it away from his hold, outside the window his field of vision had all but disappeared as he was now flying blind through unknown territory. This was one of the worst case scenarios a pilot could find themselves in, no working engines, high winds, flying blind and with no idea of what ones’ altitude was. With no way to judge just how high up he was the tiny ship could crash into the ground at any moment and he would have been none the wiser, at this point all he could do was trying to keep the nose up and glide in a straight line until he could land the ship. The idea was a solid plan in its self, but the strong winds were proving to be impossible to fly in, even with his iron tight grip the ship was being tossed around in the surrounding gale, trying as hard as he could he pushed against the steering column. The two opposing forces were too much of a strain on the metal framing of the steering console as a loud rip echoed over the screaming winds outside as the metal holding it together ripped in half.
He knew what had just happened but he was really hopping that he had just over dosed and this was the hallucination he was seeing before him, as half of the steering stick was held in his hand, while the other half flailed wildly on the floor. Looking back and forth between the piece he held in his hand and the other half he gave a disgruntled sigh and tossed the piece of metal on the ground, it was no use to him anymore. This looked to be the end for him as the tiny ship flipped madly through the thick clouds, no control, no sight it was game over for the Vennor. Even the most experienced pilot would have no way of getting out of such a scenario at this point it was just best to lay back and let be. He had lived a semi-decent life, made some cash here and there, not to mention all the amazing sights he was able to see that no one else would have been able too.
Suddenly the ship broke through the thick roaring clouds as the trails of gasses ripped away from the exterior of the vessel, the ship look as if a giant had used it as a club at one point as the front was torn to shreds, and the paint job had been worn away by the fierce winds. Just from glance Anri had guessed that they still had a good two miles before they crashed into the stone surface of planet, but at the speed they were going it wouldn't be more than a minute or so. With no engine and no way to control the flaps there was no way to control the ship, well not in the traditional sense that was.
“Computer how long do we have till impact?”
“Twenty seconds if the up drafts hold up. What were you thinking?”
“It’s possible I can repair this ship in its current condition, but if this thing crashes that’s game over for us ever getting off this world. You know I’ve picked up a few things since Alpha.”
“Your not-“ The computer was caught off guard as Anri unlatched his safety belt, springing towards the cockpit window it opened before him as a blast of wind filled the cabin. The warm breeze was refreshing after having been stuck inside the cabin for all those weeks, taking a deep breath of the strange mixture of air he coughed as he tried to get used to the foreign substance. The air wasn’t in the range that would have caused him to rely on his gills for breathing, but it felt as though he was trying to shallow cotton candy with each breath as the air was much thicker than he was used too. Doing his best to cope with it he needed to act quickly before it was too late to save the vessel, getting a grip on the siding of the ship Anri swung his way to the underside of the ship. The bottom of the ship was the flattest, largest and most enforced part of the ship so what he was planning to do would have best been done here, less the ship take more damage than it already had. This was going to be his second crash landing he had ever gone through, the first being when he first arrive into the galaxy, while before the ship had to be abandoned he wasn't about to let his baby fall victim to such a incident, not as long as he was still breathing. Even with heavy damaged as the ship was it was still possible to fix it, Anri always kept share parts on board just encase if for some reason he would need to repair something and this seemed like a good time to use them.
Lunging forward he imbued his body with his Ki reserves as he began to float just under the ship, not falling anymore he had to keep his speed in check with that of the falling ship, otherwise it would crash down upon him. Placing his palms flat above his head he slowed his descent allowing the ship to fall into his hands, once he was sure that he had a proper grip he slammed on the breaks. The suddenness of such a stopping force put a great deal of stress on the Vennor as he pushed with all his might to slow the vessel down, looking below he could see that the planet’s surface was growing ever closer to them. Even with all the strength he was putting in the ship didn’t seem to be slowing down as fast as he thought it would have, such a thing seemed rather odd too him. That’s when he began to notice that everything seemed to take more effort, breathing, moving, even using his Ki, thinking back to what the computer had said he noted that the planet had a dense composition. The gravity here was much higher than he was used too which explained for all the factors that had been happening, even the slight movements where more difficult than they used to be, so trying to stop a forty ton space craft from crashing was proving more than he could currently handle.
There was really only one other choice he could do at the moment and now that he was no longer inside his ship he didn’t have worry about damaging it, not that there wasn’t much he could do that had been done to the poor thing. Steam poured off his body at an alarming rate, yelling out like a wild beast, long spike protruded through his plated skin as he could feel the heat beginning to flow off of his body. Spiking quickly in power level he could feel the weighted stress on his body began to lessen slightly, as even the ship began to feel lighter. With the ground only but a few hundred feet away he forced all of his Ki into stopping the ship, he could feel his body burn with pain as he pressed against the ship, ever slowly the ship began to slow in its descent. Meeting the ground feet first he braced his body as he sunk into the ground, his weight and that of the ships with the extra gravity was more than enough to sink them both a few inches into the ground before Anri’s strength stopped the ship.
Hands still held above him Anri slunk his head over as he breathed heavily at this point even his gills were working along with him, each lung full of air helping to restore his stability as his legs shook with weakness. Even with himself fully transformed the action had taken a lot out of him, if it wasn’t for the large spike in gravity the outcome would have defiantly been less challenging. Taking a few more deep breathes Anri took a shaky knee as he placed the space craft on the ground with a loud bang, his energy draining from his body the spike withdrew from his exterior has he returned back to his normal state. Once again the heavy gravity took his hold back on him as he slumped towards the ground with a smack against the stone surface, if it hadn’t been for his armored face it would have hurt like hell. There was little else he could do other than lay there at the moment, each breath was proving to be more difficult that it should be, each time it seemed that he had to gasp for air.
Even though he knew it would have been best to seek comfort inside the safety of his ship he couldn’t muster the strength in his body to push himself back onto his feet, it felt as though all the energy was being drained from his own being. All he could do was lay there and gasp for air through his gills as it was proving too difficult to breath normally for him, the atmosphere was just too thick for him to breath without the use of them. The strong gusts of wind buffered his body as his thoughts began to float around in his mind, aside from slowly bring crushed by the immense gravity he could let his mind wander, if wasn’t as though he had anything else to do.
“Guess not much we can really do right now is there?”
“Resting is sometimes the best choice when no other options are available. Eventually your body will become adjusted to the pull of planet.”
“How long will that take?”
“It's hard to say, there is no calculated way to determine such a thing, it is based on how fast you want it to be. The more you fight it, the stronger you will become and the easier it will be to move.”
“I know it doesn’t feel like it, but I’m indeed struggling.”
“You are too weak right now to do anything about it, saving the ship drained you of all your power, at this point I think I could take you on.”
“I paid to see that.” Anir tried laughing but the effort too more strength than he had to give, so it came out as a quick gasp of air.
He wanted to fight back, every bone in his body begged to fight against the pulled on him but his body wouldn’t move, it was as if a blob of dark matter was spread across his body, keeping him from standing up. He was glad that they world seemed devoid of life, all he had seen around him when he had landed was worn swept lands, not even a mountain could stand the test of time against such winds. It was amazing that such winds could exists with such a powerful force that the lands themselves fell to their beckon, it no surprise that he hadn’t seen any plants or animals, living here would have been a harsh existence for anyone or anything. Giving up on trying to move he let his muscles relax as they were subdued by the heavy gravity, it was more comfortable than trying to fight back but it was pointless right now. Even though the pressing force against him was causing him great discomfort he found that his eyes lids where starting to get heavy, worried that falling asleep in such a condition he did his best to keep them open. With the gravity pulling against him and sleep wearing hard down on him he found it impossible to keep them open any longer.
