The cool morning breezes swept across the lit city streets, the morning chill was always the strongest right before the suns warmth wrapped over the horizon. In the coldest hours of the morning the young girl sat on the edge of the brick wall that lined the park, during this time of the day no one was ever around, she had it all too her self, a place that sure could rule over when no one else was around. She had it all, but she did not want any of it. It was so quiet, even the grasshoppers seemed to be away, as if everyone had left her that night, all too her lonesome self. Shivering as another cool blast of air hit her backside she rubbed her arms against her body to try and warm herself, other than the clothes she had on her back it was the only thing that was keeping her warm.
Vixi couldn't sleep, just like most of the nights she would sit under the night sky and watch as the dim stars rose and fell across the sky, often she found that it was the only thing that could distract her from the disappearance of her father. How long had he been gone now? Three days, four, five? She has lost track of the time, after awhile the suns rising and falling had blurred together, it felt more like one long continued day that would never stop, an infinite plan of time and she was along for the ride. He had told her to wait so she did, she was patient after all she had spent her whole life waiting, not always sure of what she waiting for though. Days and years she had waited inside of that tank growing, learning, waiting, but all the time she was in there he was by her side. She was taught what he wanted to teach her, everything she knew came from him, he had given her life after all.
Picking her hand up she placed it upon her head as she scratched the backside of her ear with a sigh of relief, those tiny bugs seemed too like her a lot as she could often feel them making her itch. She would have begged them to leave her alone but try as she might all she could manage to get out was a few quite squeaks sounding more like an animal than a human at this point, but then again she was somewhere in between the two. After spending so many days in the park she had noticed that she was not like the rest of the people that came through, it was true that some animals lived among the humans but none of them looked anything like she did. Other than the fur that lined her orange hair and tail she had none else on her body, while the rest of them did. Why was she so different than the rest of them? Why had she been born the way she had? She had meant to ask her father but...she could not, she had tired to form the words but once again her thoughts could not form into sounds. This idea upset her the most, she knew exactly what she wanted to say but could not, all she really wanted to tell him was how much she loved him, though what was love to her? Was it the feeling that filled her heart when he was around, or was it when he left her alone for so long?
The thought of her father casued her ears to drooped against her head as tears formed in her eyes, it seemed like all she did these days was wait and cry, both for her father. Where was he at? Did he not love her? No...he did! Why else would he have saved her...but...where was he? Surely he would come back to her...he did promise...still.... Looking up towards the sky Vixi opened her mouth as the howl burst forth from deep within her heart, it was a bitter, lonely howl that filled the night sky, flooding down the streets for all to hear. The tears that formed in her eyes rolled down her cheeks and fell from her face, the low moon light causing them to shine in the night. She didn't care who would have heard it, she had heard similar cries through the nights before from other creatures, though none sounded like hers. They called out in response to state dominance, she howled because she needed to tell her story, maybe someone out there would understand her, the sadness, the loneliness...maybe her father would hear here. Maybe he would come running back to her, because just like her he was lost too....

Rosen was a morning person, as a child he had heard the expression the early bird gets the worm and he loved the idea of taking something away from someone else. From that day on he never once slept past sunrise. This of course meant that his assistant Mercy never got to sleep past sunrise as well. However there was more to it than beating out his competitors, even as they slept he found the city was quiet. It provided him an opportunity to think quietly in a city where quiet was a commodity you could not buy. You had to find it and when you did those moments were better than gold. He couldn't afford to move away from the city, this was where his company was, it was where the power was, even the name of it, Central City let the rest of the world know that it revolved around Central not the other way around. He had dozens of beach houses, real estate in places so quiet and so remote that no one would set foot there for years if Rosen wasn’t living there at the moment but silence in the city was the most precious of all Rosen’s possessions.
It had become something of a morning tradition now. He would wake up early, Mercy would compile a list of everything he would need to review for the day and she would read it off to him while he wandered through one of Central City’s many parks absorbing the silence into himself. A calm wall of peace against the rage that would be the of the rest of his day.
“At one you have a meeting with the lawyers from Admin Inc over the patent information they believe we took from them.” Mercy said, she was smart, even here in his peace you never knew what ears could be listening and she would never openly incriminate them. If she were the kind of person who would do that Rosen would have terminated her position years ago.
“At three you have a conference call with the Red Flag representative, we’re to go over their evacuation and relocation from the saiyan home world. In exchange for removing them from the planet Tejun has offered up his services in our R&D lab as well as a substantial discount on the any wet work you needed done. We had our finance team go over it and while the wet work itself won’t cover the costs of moving them off planet Tejun’s research could potentially make us millions.”
“Thank you Mercy, is there anything else?” normally Rosen would never thank his assistant for merely doing her job, it was expected of her why should she receive praise, however in his peace he sometimes forgot himself and slipped. She took it in stride not commenting on it.
“There is one last item. UNITY has reached out to us.” she said pausing for a moment to let him know which branch of UNITY she was referring to. Ah so this wasn’t official UNITY this was their underground divisions.
“Of course, and what do our dear friends at UNITY want now?” Rosen said his interests peaked for the moment.
“According to the rep, one of their experiments got loose recently. A human hybrid woman. They are offering a substantial reward for it’s capture and return or it’s termination.”
“What do they take us for, their errand boys? Am I to play dog catcher because their security is lapse?”
“No sir, however for them to deem it important enough to bring up. If we were to catch it and study this experiment ourselves…” she left the rest for him to guess.
“Yes if we find it ourselves-”
His thoughts were cut off abruptly by a howl. It was a howl that was full of longing and pain, it spoke of loneliness and need. It was a howl that would break a kinder, gentler man’s heart, it brought a smile to Rosen’s lips.
Walking quickly towards the source of his disturbance Rosen coated his face with the appropriate emotion. A combination of fear, confusion, willingness to help, and empathy at the pain he had just heard.
“HELLO?” he said, he didn't shout as not to startle the creature into running. Instead he kept his voice soft and calming as he could. “Is anyone there? Please I only want to help!”

Sitting atop the wall Vixi listened to the still night around her, the distance calls of other creatures could be heard traveling through the cool air as the breeze blew her hair back against its force. Flowing free with nothing to hold it down her orange hair flew haphazardly behind her, with the moon light fading from the sky it was more than enough to illuminate her hair like a whirl wind of flames that encircled her backside. Eyes closed as her head leaned up towards the lightening sky as looked peaceful, her warm beauty burning a hole into the morning darkness and yet she was distraught inside. Trying as hard as she could to hold the tears from flowing once again was difficult to her, there was so much pain inside of her, it felt like her heart was going to fall from her, smashing against the ground it would shatter into little pieces. She longed for the loving embrace of her father, it had been too long and she knew it would be even longer still before she would is him again. She didn't have much to remember him by other than the few possessions and memories, but they weren't enough for her, she wanted him there, next to her. Only then would she feel complete again.
A new sound broke through the air as her ears twitched at the new sound, blocking out the rest of the soft noises in the night she did he best ot focus on it. Naturally she was skittish of new things, but at the same time they made her curious to what they might be, it wasn't the best combination for a person to have. Paying close attention to the sound she could make out a person...no two of them, by the sounds of their voices they were coming closer to her. She was curious about the two, why were they out so earlier...or late, it wasn't like most people to travel at such a time in the morning. Such a thing was irregular for people, she wasn't sure what to do next. She had been told to been seen by anyone but her curiosity was building higher and higher inside of her; kicking her legs back and forth against the wall she sat one she pondered the idea in depth. She needed more time to decide on the matter however it was too late as a voice called out from behind her, belonging to one of the two people she had heard before.
Fright, intrigue, and saddenish flooded through her body, she had no idea who the person was or what they wanted from her, and she was saddened because she had gone against her fathers rules. Vixi scolded herself in her mind that she had not run away as she had been told by the person she loved, why had she not? Did she really want attention so bad that she would break his rules... it was too late to turn back at this point, what was done, was done. He didn't sound that he was a bad guy, the mans voice sound sincere in nature, a gentle, caring voice, it was the type of voice she often heard from the parents in the park as they watched their kids play.
Building up all the courage she could muster Vixi took a deep breath and slid down from the wall, landing lightly on her boot covered feet they scuffing noise rang through the surrounding park. Standing back to her full height which compared to the height of the man she was much short than he was, it gave him a layer of intimidation towards her.
She wanted to reply back to the man but she knew such actions would be impossible for her too do, all that would come out would be a howl of some sort and she didn't want to scare the man off. He was the only other human contact she had since her father, she didn't want to screw this meeting up. Ears pressed against the top of her head she glanced shyly at the ground, her face slightly flushed as she waved at the man.

There was a brief movement in the bushes before a small fox eared girl landed in front of him, Mercy was about to take a step forward, her instinct to protect Rosen taking the lead, but he quickly shook his head and getting the message she resumed her place quietly by his side. Still she didn’t bother to hide the scowl on her face. She wasn’t a fan of him risking himself approaching their target, she’d rather call in a containment team and leave the risks to the peasants. But who was he to argue with good fortune when it jumped out right in front of him?
Standing at her full height she looked like a child to him, her ears perked, her head pointed to the ground. The experiment was...shy? She waved toward him, the experiment and his next advantage over UNITY and she hopped right out in front of him and waved. He couldn’t help it he burst out in a laugh. He stopped himself from the condescending laugh that bubbled up and instead tried to infuse it with warmth and happiness, it was a lie he often practiced originally on his adoptive family and later in school and in business. It was a laugh meant to make the people around him feel, warm, safe and cared for, like they were part of the joke, part of the club. It was all an act, in his mind he was already moving chess pieces to their positions.
He would find what this girls purpose was; he would use her, make her feel warm, welcomed, loved, until he no longer had a use for her. And then...well UNITY had said they would pay to get her back. The laughter ended in a smile feigning all the warmth he could manage. He kneeled getting down on her own level as to not tower over the woman and waved back mirroring her own gesture.
Rosen knew he had the ability to be charming if he needed to and it had served him well in life up until now. Closing his eyes he opened them again seeing the girls heat signature trying to tell if she there was anything else different about her. He noticed that the girl appeared cold, no that wasn’t it she wasn’t cold, she was weak and it was radiating from her stomach.
“Are you hungry?” he asked softly. “I have some breakfast with me, I’d be more than happy to share?”
Reaching slowly into his jacket as not to startle her he pulled out a granola bar. He always ate breakfast on the run, using his morning walk to make sure he ate the most important meal of the day. However this was an investment, he could afford to skip a meal. Slowly tearing open the package he extended his hand slowly towards the girl. The smell of berries, nuts and granola would waft towards her. The reason he carried the breakfast bar was because the smell always enticed him as well and he could already feel his mouth watering. Breaking off a small piece he ate it himself to show the girl it was safe and delicious. If she truly was a human hybrid as she appeared perhaps she would have enhanced smell as well. Extending the bar slowly again towards her he stood and waited the ever present Mercy still glaring angrily at his side.

Coming out from the bushes she now had full view of the man and the other person she had heard eariler, it was a woman; just from from the looks of her she seemed much older than Vixi did. Taking notice of the slight movement of the woman's leg it seemed that she was about to lunge towards her, she had no idea why anyone would try to do such a thing but it set Vixi on edge. Maybe it had been a bad idea to stick around instead of running, Vixi knew she should have listened to her father. Shaking his head in disapproval the woman stopped in her movement and returned back to the mans side, not sure of what too do next Vixi observed the two from afar, at this point she was thinking of running rather than staying much longer. She really hoped her father wouldn't be mad at her once she was able to tell him her story, but father was a caring man so she was sure he would her stand.
The two groups appeared to be doing the same thing to one another, studying each other, trying to decided what their next move was, what would be the correct thing to do. What happened next took Vixi by surprised as the mans crackling laugh echoed through the park she looked up at him, her face more flushed than it had been before, trying to find the source of his laugh she turned her waist and looked over her shoulder but found no reason for it. She couldn't figure out what had caused him to laugh so joyfully, his laugh was bright and warm like those that came from the kids that ran across the park. Though she hadn't been on the surface for long even she thought it odd that a man of his age could have such a youthful laugh. It confused her though, the woman that was by his side was so cold, even now her dagger eyes dug into her skin making a shiver run down her back, and she knew it was not from the cool night air.
Mentioning hunger Vixi rocked her body slightly as she looked back towards the ground, her hand went to her stomach as she pressed her hand against her belly. It had been a long while since she had something to eat, father hadn't left her with any food and after the second day her stomach began to yell at her for its fuel source. 'Share...' the word rang through her mind, the man had food and he was willing to share it with her...but why? No one else had helped her...then again no one knew of her, keeping out of sight during the day and only coming out at night when no one else was around.
Reaching his hand into his jacket he pulled out a rectangular container, its reflective surface shinned in the rising light of the sun as the street lights had begun to shut off one by one. Placing his hand on the edge of the contain he pulled his hand down the length as it ripped open, with her excellent hearing it as though it had been pressed up against her ear as she could hear every sound the wrapper made with great detail. With the stored item now free to breath in the world the sweet scent of berries wafted into her nose as she took a deep breath of the scent, already her stomach growled as it longed to devour whatever it was that he had. Drool running down her face she watched as the man broke a piece off and placed it in his mouth, chewing the bar it seemed more than safe too take.
Inching forward she kept switch her eyes back and forth between the two of the and the food, though hunger pulled at her she didn't like the look that the woman was giving her, at this point she had some trust for the man but she was still cautious. Being it was her first time dealing with people other than her father she thought it best to keep on her toes not very sure of what they might do, or why he was helping her. Stretching her hand out she snatched the bar out from his hands, in a quick blur she had already placed the bar along with the wrapper whole into her mouth. Chewing down on the bar she didn't even care about the tasteless wrapper that was ripped to sherds by her sharper than usual teeth, making quick work of devouring the bar she swallowed it followed by a sigh of relief.
Turning back to the man she didn't know what to do next, he had given her something but she didn't have much of anything to give him back. The only things she had on her belonged to her father and she wasn't sure he would be very happy with her if she gave them away. Not knowing what else too do she walked up slowly to the man, all the while keeping her eyes on the woman's death glare. Reaching him she reached out and wraped her hands around his waist and gave him a light squeeze, it was all she really knew what she could do at that moment.

The girl studied the granola bar in his hand for a minute, watching him take a bite himself before it dashed forward taking the whole thing out of his hand. In a flash she shoved the whole thing in her mouth wrapper and all giving Rosen a glimpse of her incredibly sharp teeth.
Yes this girl had potential…
However Mercy had also seen the teeth and only could see the potential for danger. Her face no longer held disapproval this time it had transitioned to rage.
Unfortunately for her she had no opinion in the matter, Rosen had made up his mind and had delivered his message to her. If she continued to show this kind of disloyalty he would have her disciplined later. The creature had the potential to be incredibly dangerous but as of now it was no threat to him.
It further proved his point when it inched forward slowly sliding it’s arms around him. It was giving him a hug, again he let out a laugh filling it with warmth. It was stupid enough to put itself in his arms, if he had the desire he could surprise and overpower it easily now. Instead still laughing he hugged the girl back, trying to make her believe she was being cared for. To an outsider looking in he would look paternal, maybe even loving, however in his mind he was trying to plan ahead. After his labs had dissected the girl her DNA would be worth a fortune, Admin Corp and UNITY would have a bidding war with each other and Rosen would be the only true winner.
He could still see her heat signature and noticed she was a little cold, removing his arms from around her and taking them out of his jacket as well he held it out to her. He would get this creature to come with him willingly, it was only a matter of time...
“Here.” he said voice filled with warmth and holding out the jacket. “A gift from me to you.”

With her arms wrapped around the man she could feel just how cold she really was, against his warm body her hands felt like ice even with her fathers jacket clinging loosely too her small frame the cool morning winds seemed to rip straight through her. His warm laugh filled the air once again as the man began to chuckle, Vixi still had no idea what he was laughing at but what came next surprised the girl as the man returned the hug back to her, his warm hands wrapped around her shoulders. Happily she closed her eyes as she rested in the warm of the embrace not only because she was cold but because she need the attention, her mind was still growing even though she looked the age of a teenager her brain was at the stage of a child, looking for approval in others and wanted to be loved, to be accepted by other people. It was the kind of hug that that only a loving person could really give, like the kind her father would give her, she felt safe once again as she was held inside of his grasp. Though she wasn't able to express her emotions through her words her body was rather good at saying what she was thinking even though she didn't always want it too, as her tail began to brush back and forth in the dim morning light.
Pulling away from Vixi her eyes snapped over as the warm hug she was enjoying was over, the fact saddened her but father had always told her too never to be to clingy to others, it was ok if she was too give him as much hugs as she wanted though. Stepping back away from the man her tail flooped back too the ground as her ears droped too the top of head, it was disappointing but then again she didn't know the man that well. Taking his jacket off her handed to the small girl as she looked in awe and confusion, it was one thing to accept the food but she couldn't take his clothing, there was nothing else she could give in return to the man. She didn't want to be rude but was she going to have to reject the gift even as cold as she was there was nothing else she could do to repay the man for all of his kindness, it was something that no one else other than her father had shown her.
As she was about to reject the jacket the man told her that it was a gift from himself to her, as he held it out for her to take. It was a gift for her... but what had she done to deserve this? Rubbing the ground with the heel of her shoe she thought deeply of what to do next, father had never said anything about taking gifts from people, there was nothing to trade when giving a gift but at the same time she didn't think father would have approved of her doing such a thing. She had already broken so many of his rules, just by talking to this man she was sure he was going to be mad at her, Vixi didn't want to add more reasons for her to be angry with her once he returned.
Even as cold as the winds were and how much she shivered she shook her head at the acceptance of the clothing, she couldn't take such a gift from a person she barely knew of. It was a kind, caring jesture which she liked but she just couldn't do it, she hadn't done anything to earn it. The sun was already beginning to break over the horizon as its beams of light broke through the night that had been surrounding the three of them, at this point all of the street lights had shut off as the world around them was starting to wake up. It wouldn't be long before the suns shinning rays would warm her up once again and then there would been no need for her jacket or the mans.
Not knowing what else to do at this point she gave the man a quick bow, something her father had been teaching her in the days before left, telling her it was away to thank someone. Vixi didn't quiet understand the idea of it but thought that if it was good enough for her father to do then it was good enough for her as well, he had never lead her astray before.

As he hugged the girl he could feel her put his head against his chest and he saw her tail began to wag. It would be adorable to most people, it would melt the heart of even the coldest person. Rosen wondered if he could just hold onto her and force her into the trunk of his car.
There had to be some way to get her back to his labs without relying on brute force.
He could feel the girl was cold but for some reason she steadily rejected his jacket. This jacket probably cost more than the average family made in a year...He managed to keep the smile on his face but his assistant did not. The look of shock and horror on Mercy’s face almost made him cringe if he wasn’t so determined not to frighten off the girl.
Still what had gotten into Mercy today? If she couldn’t learn to keep herself under better control he would need to find someone more competent who could. It seemed she genuinely hated this creature and Rosen had no idea why. Once this girl was in the lab safely being dissected by his genetics team Rosen would be sure to ask her what it was about this abomination that bothered her so much.
Still now that the girl had rejected his offer Rosen didn’t know where to go. He was unsure if he had built enough of a bond with the creature to get her to come with him willingly.
Still he had to ask, the creature might be valuable but there was a schedule to be kept, if he spent all day here it would not go unnoticed by UNITY or Admin Corp.
“Girl,” he said still kneeling down at eye level. “I need to go to work. I don’t feel comfortable leaving you here all by yourself. I would miss you far too much. Would you like to come with me to see my work? I have plenty more food that I would be happy to share with you?”
One way or another this girl would be his. If she refused he would simply leave and send a containment team in to make sure the park stayed empty today. Not a soul in or out, if she refused he would be back tomorrow to try again. This would become a ritual for them until the girl finally caved. If she agreed however they would walk back to his limo, once there they would begin the short quiet drive back to his genetics facility.

It was all too obvious that the woman that was with the man was not was a friend too Vixi as the whole time she had been there she had be eying the fox girl, it set Vixi on edge feeling as though she could never talk her eyes off her, even as she stood a few feet away from her she could feel her dagger vision tearing her to her body. Vixi had no idea what she had done in order to make the woman so angry with her, maybe it was because she wanted a hug too? Vixi didn't want to test the theory as she back off a few feet away from the two of her, already her animal instincts told her she didn't want to be anywhere near the woman, almost as her anger vibrated off her very being.
Talking to Vixi once again she glanced out of her side of her vision towards the man but all the while she was keeping her main focus on the woman, she wasn't exactly sure if she was going to try something but if she did Vixi would be ready to scamper out of there in an instant. All the while her tail flickered side to side nervously as she listened to the man, she wanted her to go with him? It didn't tale her long to think the idea over even with the mention of more food and as nice as he had been to her she couldn't leave. She had to wait here, wait for her father to come back if she left and he returned she would regret it for the rest of her life. Shaking her head with disapproval she backed off a few steps from the both of them and with a bolt of speed jumped over the wall behind her.
Even through all the kindness she had been shown by him he couldn't go with him, she had to keep waiting, for father. He would return soon and then they could live happily once again, it wouldn't be long now before they were sitting in a cozy little house and cuddling on the couch. The thought of the idea bad her heart float inside of her chest with hope, on that day she would be so happy it would have made all the waiting and pain worth it, all she had too do was wait a bit longer for that day too come. Clearing the wall she slapped her back against it as she was still in ear shot of the two of them, she was curious as too what they might say after she had left them alone. Though her father was one of the main reasons as to why she had stayed it was also because of that woman, she didn't like Vixi and she made that fact quite clear too the both of them.

As he extended the offer he could see the young girl glance quickly at his secretary before shaking her head no. It was clear that Mercy’s demeanor had frightened the young woman and she wanted no part of Rosen’s offer, when they were away from the girl he would have to discipline his assistant. Rosen didn’t understand it, normally Mercy was the picture of composure, she knew that her actions would get her in trouble here. Was it possible she was jealous of this new creature?
She should know that Rosen was only acting to get close to the girl to get her into the labs right? It was clear Rosen was just too good an actor. As with everything he did in life he excelled and now it hurt him to be this good. Instead the creature scampered back into the woods quicker than he could follow. If he had tried to capture her by force she would have been able to get away and Rosen would never be able to find her again. Deception really was the best choice here. But still he couldn’t stay around her all day it would only draw unwanted attention.
Instead with the hybrid girl fled back into the woods he raised his voice slightly trying to keep his frustration out and warmth in. “I will be back tomorrow for breakfast, I hope to see you again.” with that he stood and began quickly walking back towards his car. Mercy falling into step behind him.
Not knowing if the beast had the ability to hear him he waited until they were in the car before speaking to Mercy.
“Call a containment team. Make sure not a soul goes into or gets out of that park for the next 24 hours. Make sure none of it can be traced back to Rosen Corp. If UNITY gets wind of this they’ll spare no expense to get the girl back if they know we have her cornered.” he waited a moment for her to make the call not wanting his rage to interfere with his business.
“Now that we have a moment Mercy, why don’t you tell me just what the hell that was about…”
*****
The next morning he returned. This time he had no guard immediately with him. Instead the entire outside of the park was surrounded by men in construction uniforms. They were actually part of a Rosen containment unit but if anyone asked there was dangerous construction going on around the park. Also if anyone asks Rosen Corp was fixing the construction for the city at no cost. Because you can’t put a price on good PR.
As Rosen walked in he was carrying a large picnic basket. In it was enough food to feed a small army. He had made a point to already eat a small breakfast himself and was prepared to offer the majority if not all of the food to the girl assuming she would come out and meet him again today...

With her back pressed against the wall Vixi waited and listened for the sound of the man and maybe even the woman, she was sure they would talk about her after she left but what came from the man was a tad bit of a surprise. Apparently he was going to come back the next day for 'breakfast' whatever that was, as her language skills were still developing as well as her knowledge about the world around her she wasn't sure of what he was talking about. Ears raised too pick up every little sound nearby she waited even holding her breath as she did, there was almost a cloud of suspense in the air and she didn't really know why but something inside of her told her to wait rather than make any movement. Hearing the sound of there feet against the stones steps of the side walk Vixi relaxed a bit as she could tell they were leaving the park, wanting to watch the two to make sure they were gone she hopped up the length of the wall and sat on the top. Landing with ease Vixi was able to see the last glimpses of the two as they marched out of the park and back out into the street, cocking her head sideways she gave a small sigh as the suspense that had been surrounding her drifted away.
Sure wasn't really sure what to make of what just happened but that would have to wait for another time, after all that had happened she was a tad tried and the first people that ran through the park early in the morning would soon arrive. Leaning forward from the wall she leapt off and landed in the bushes below, she was going to find a tree to rest in for a few hours until, no doubt that the loud sounds of the kids would soon awaken her.
----
Sleep came to the girl easily as she rested against the stocky high branches of one of the biggest oaks the park had to offer her, high up and with many leafy branches it provided her great protection from the sun or anyone being able too see her. Often she would choose to rest here for the main fact that people usually kept away from this side of the park since most of the open area was near the play ground, sometimes a woman and a man would wonder over and begin doing something in the bushes that Vixi wasn't very sure it was something that she should be watching. However that day the park seemed to be devoid of people, no children, no mothers, not anyone, Vixi found that such a thing was strange as the park was always full of people, playing games, running or even just relaxing in the sun.
At first it was very a lonely where once she could hear the laughter of children it was replaced with the dull roar of the city in the background, it was if everyone had left her alone to be just with herself. It was lonely until she realized she had the whole park to herself, no one was around so there was no reason to hide anymore, she could go and run around in broad daylight and not have to worry about anything. Taking not a second longer after knowing this fact did she burst from the branches of the trees as she bounced around the open field laughing and cheering with little howls of happiness.
It was a fun day as she danced from one side of the park to the other over and over again never getting tired of doing the same thing over again, it was like a new world she was able to discover as the park looked so very different during the day than it did at night. Bright beautiful flowers bloomed in the high sun as she laid on her stomach and watched for hours as the little bugs with large colorful wings would land upon them and drink from the flowers, as much as she wanted to touch the creature she thought it best to just look rather than interrupt them.
Eventually the sun began to drop below the horizon as the the sky light up in a rainbow of reds, oranges and even some dark blues. It was a great ending to a great day, not only had she gotten something to eat she also had a blast being able to run around freely without having to worry about someone spotting her. Resting high in the branches once again she looked out through the leaves as the city around her, though it was still odd that no one had entered the park that day she really did enjoy herself though she imagined everyone would be back again tomorrow. Vixi wasn't all to happy about the fact but she knew it was going to happen anyway so she just accept it as it was, leaning her head back against the rough bark she closed her eyes and rested for the rest of the night, something she often didn't do.
Awaking the next day Vixi stretched her limbs far from her body as she gave out a high pitched yawn that came from her mouth, as she opened her eyes to see the world of green around her. Shaking the sleep from her body she froze as her nose picked up on a familiar scent...it was the man! Peaking out from the leaves in the tree she scanned the grass field until she saw him, as he had just entered the park and in his arms he was carrying a large basket which appeared to be made of some type of wood. Twitching her tails she thought over the idea if she should go down there to greet him but she wasn't sure on it, last time she had scampered away because of the woman... but she didn't see her anywhere to be found.
Shrugging her shoulders Vixi scaled her way down the trees base and as she landed she would walk out from the trees to greet the man, after all he did say he was going to be back and it would have been rude not to see him once again.

As Rosen walked up the park path his smile hid his irritation. He was frustrated that the containment team had seen the young girl sprinting around the park all day, if UNITY or Admin Co really were looking for this girl he wouldn’t be able to keep her hidden here for long. He needed to get her back to the labs, he needed to get her to the dissection teams, he needed her to eat what was in the basket.
One of the best parts of owning a large conglomerate was he had access to anything his R&D lab could come up with. In this case Rosen Pharmaceuticals had developed a powder that was would paralyze anyone whom it came in contact with. It was developed for easy civilian suppression. A dictator would buy this powder, drop it from a plane over his population, and bam population is now suppressed with next to no effort. The powder wore off within a few hours, but if you were prepared you could take advantage of the situation and that was exactly what Rosen intended to do.
Every item in his basket full of food was full of the powder, he wasn’t sure what exactly the girl wanted to eat, so Rosen covered all his bases bringing every breakfast item imaginable. He brought fresh blueberries, strawberries, waffles, cupcakes, coffee cakes, fresh baked bread, another 10 of those granola bars the girl ate the day before. His basket was full to the brim with food all of it packed with Rosen’s miracle drug.
He had spent most of his night in contact with the development team making sure they had an antidote ready so that Rosen himself wouldn’t be affected by the drug. It had killed 3 separate assistants before they got it right. He had told Mercy if this drug didn’t work on the fox girl she would be next in line since she was responsible for frightening her away. Unfortunately it was an empty threat, for the moment Mercy was still far to valuable to Rosen or he would have made an example of her already.
Still with his false smile and basket full of treats Rosen walked up only to see the fox girl already standing out there waiting on him. Smiling with feigned warmth he opened his arms appearing to ask the creature to hug him again. Hopefully it would establish some consistency in case she didn’t recognize him at first. Whether she walked forward or not however he would then point to himself. “My name is Lance, can you speak?” with that he put the basket on the ground and opened it up so she could see everything inside. “And more importantly are you hungry? I have plenty to share.”

The low streams of light from the sun warmed Vixi as her still stiff muscles where still adjusting themselves from the unpleasantness of having slept in a tree, though there wasn't much else where she could have slept so I was a minor inconvenience too her. Slowing down from her sprint as to ease up on her stiff muscles Vixi began to walk normally towards the man as she got a better look at him, again he had that cheery smile she always saw spread across his face, it warmed her heart to know that someone was looking out for her well being. Having had spotted her the man opened his arms once again as if he was asking for another hug for the girl, almost stopping her he tracks Vixi glanced around the area as if she was trying to find something. Scanning from each side of the park she sniffed the air as she tired to find any scent of the woman around, Vixi didn't much feel like having the woman stare her down once again, even if it meant that she might get access to more of those delicious bars the man had. Vixi could smell a small hint of the woman but it was coming from the man himself, it seemed like the two of them spent a lot of time together so it was only natural her scent would cling to his frame.
Sensing no other signs of the woman Vixi took one last glance around the park and jetted towards the man, with her incredible speed on all fours she met the man in to time as she wrapped her arms around him just like the morning before. It was nice to have some to hug, it wasn't nearly as great as her fathers hugs but she liked it none the less, it was even better since that woman was no where around. Breaking free from the hug Vixi turned her attention to the basket that he was carrying around with him, she had been able to smell the goods even past the sealed boxes walls, she knew that whatever inside was going to be tasty.
Telling her that his name was Lance she repeated the name over and over in her head as she wanted to make sure she would not forget, thought it would little good for her until the day she would be able to speak a word. Dropping her ears at the mention of whether she would speak or not she sadly shook her head to his question, since the day she was born she had not spoken a word to anyone not even her own father. It wasn't as though she didn't want too she just couldn't as of yet, but she was trying every day.
As Lance placed the basket on the ground Vixi was able too see all the food that had been packed into every corner of the basket, breads, fruits and a many different types of cakes, she finally understood what he meant by 'breakfast'. Drooling slightly at the sight she sat down at the side of the basket, her orange tail whipping back and forth happily, as she looked inside of it, everything looked to good to be true she didn't even know where to start. Asking she was hungry Vixi shook her head with all the energy she would muster at the thought of it, since the bar he had given her the night before she had eaten nothing else.
Scanning her head back and forth between the items Vixi was trying to decided what to eat first but even such a simple thing as that seemed almost impossible for her to pick. Whimpering sadly she looked toward Lance as if she was asking him what she should eat first, if it was her choice she would devour everything in sight but he did say it was to share between the two of them.

The creature sprinted up hugging him in a gesture that would normally fill people with warmth or affection. It filled Rosen with disgust. How could she be easily manipulated? How could she trust someone so easily? The mistake would cost her.
None of that was shown on Rosen’s face however. Instead he kept up his mask of affection, of warmth and joy at seeing the trusting, simple creature.
“I missed you too little one.” he said putting down the basket. He looked over only to see a small line of drool coming from the girls mouth as her tail swayed back and forth a mile a minute.
Laughing he reached into his pocket and withdrew a pocket square wiping the girls mouth in as fatherly a manner as he could manage. Not wanting to delay any longer he opened the basket. The girl had indicated she couldn’t talk, it was a defect his scientists and lab techs would have to work on.
Once they had the girls DNA he was confident they could correct any flaws found in this girl, though he would keep in her trusting nature. It would make the newer copies equally easy to manipulate. Rosen envisioned an army of hybrid clones at his beck and call. His to command to fight and die as he wished, it brought the first genuine smile to his face.
“Please,” he said gesturing towards the basket “take as much as you want, I clearly brought extra.”
Here was the point that made him nervous. He reached in and with only the tips of two fingers picked up a piece of apple-cinnamon bread. He wanted as little of his skin to touch the food as possible. Still he had to eat it...Tearing off a small bit he popped it into his mouth again showing no fear on his face, trying as always to convince the girl that nothing was amiss.
He felt his muscles tighten up slightly. Damn there was a lot of the powdered drug in this food. He had personally seen the drug in its’ most potent form paralyze his assistants so thoroughly that they couldn’t even use their lungs. They had stopped breathing and died moments later. He watched the fear in their eyes as the inevitable came and they died one by one. But that’s why Rosen tested this on assistants before touching it himself. The antidote did it’s job and Rosen managed to continue moving normally.
Smiling again he looked back at the fox girl. “It’s all delicious I promise.”

Wiping the drool away from Vixi's mouth she smiled at the gesture, it reminded her of something that her father might have done for her, the man was much older than her father but his warm smile, kind gestures, and even his laugh were all qualities that her father and the man shared. It was odd that she had met such a caring person, she knew the city was much bigger than her eyes could see but...she didn't know how she knew but the furthest away building she could see was over a one point two one miles away, it could have just been some random number that her head threw out at her but for some reason it seemed right; but the city was so big what had the chances been that they would have every crossed paths that day. Vixi guessed she had just gotten a lucky streak, since things had been so bad before she met him it was only a matter of time before something good was too happen to her, and it looked to be Lance that was her good luck.
Pointing to the basket and letting her know she could have as much as she wanted Vixi's eyes began to sparkle with joy, there was so much delicious looking goods inside the basket and she could have as much as she wanted? Vixi stared in awe at the basket, though it was Lance that made the first move as he reached inside the wooden bag and took a piece of glazed covered bread, just from the sweet smell of toasted apples she began to drool again as she watched him place it into his mouth, his mannerisms where very neat, matching someone of such high class that his clothes represented. Still wide eyed while she was watching him it was Lance's voice that snapped her from the daze she was in, shaking her head rather abruptly she turned her attention back to the basket at hand.
Shrugging her shoulders slightly she reached into the basket and pulled out the first object she could wrap her hand around, pulled whatever it was out of the basket she saw that it was a small breakfast cake, the sweet smell drifted from the pasty and up her nostrils, at this point she wasn't sure how much more drool she could produce at this point. With out hesitating a second longer Vixi dug into the pastry shoving the little cake straight into her mouth as her sharp teeth torn away at the soft spongy material of the cake, reducing it to a mushy paste she swallowed and sighed happily. It was the most delicious thing she had ever eaten in her whole life, other than the granola bar she had eaten the night before she didn't have that large of a food palette at this point thought, so take that comment with a grain of salt. The cake though was quite amazing, the texture, the taste and even smell would beg at all people to want to try just a nibble of if, if not more, whoever had made it must have had great skill to cook such a dish.
As much as Vixi had enjoyed the cake there would be time to reflect kindly on such a taste later, now that her stomach had gotten a taste for the high quality food it wanted more. Almost leaning inside the casket its self Vixi everything above her waist was blocked from view as she began to devour everything that she could get her hands onto, from the berries to the cakes nothing was safe from her deadly chompers. In less than a minute the basket was cleared of any sign of food left over, even the basket was missing a few a few chucks of it, which were probably logged somewhere in the depths of her stomach by now. Sighing with relief Vixi fell backwards away from the basket onto the ground below her, she couldn't remember a time when she had ever been this full before, mostly because there had never been a time before.
