The coughing woke him from his sleep as the alien was face first into the ground where he had fallen earlier, of course what could have possibly moved such a heavy titan as himself. Taking in deep breaths of air he struggled against the heavy gravity that was pulling down upon his body, it was nothing he had never felt before even something as simple as breathing seemed near impossible as he cherished every lung he had at that moment. Eyes still closed he listened to the roaring hurricane just outside of his eye lids, he couldn’t imagine what wonders would lay just outside when he was to open his eyes, the wind swept lands would probably be devoid of all life and rock formation had been worn away after thousands of years of wear and tear on their hardened exteriors.
Anri wanted to test just how strong the gravity was on this planet, it he was ever going to make if off the ball of wind and rock he would need to able to at least stand otherwise it would be game over for the Vennor. A simple test was all he was going to need to just see how he was going to fair on the planet’s surface, he knew that in time his body would adjust to the high gravity but the time it would take could more than likely kill him if it took too long, he was on a clock and had no idea when it would run out. The only thing that would be able to aid him is if he was quick to act before his time was over and done with, there was a plentiful storage of food and water on board the ship which he could live off of for many weeks, but the main issue he faced was getting there in the first place. Even thought it was a short leap from the ground where he was now he knew that such a leap would be impossible on his world of all places, jumping was completely out of the picture, no he was going to have to climb to get what he wanted.
Struggling against the planets pulling force Anri sluggish began to move his arms in front of him, with every movement he made his body trembled with pain as he fought the powerful force against him, it was like he was moving his body through cold syrup as one ton weights were strapped to his limbs. It wouldn’t have nearly as difficult as it was proving to be if he could actually breath without having to gasp for air with every try, most aliens organs weren’t meant to withstand such forces on them for extended periods of time if it had not been for the plated skin they might have burst forth from his abdomen, splattering across the ground. Most species could survive gravity that of which was two times what they were accustomed too but anything more than that would kill them in the long run, in fact his species was planning on settling on a planet in his home system which gravity would have been much higher than that of Riva, most people thought it would have been an idiotic idea but the vast wealth of mineral and metal that could have been found within its depths was great enough that they were willing to take such risks. Though he was struggling against the force that was being applied on him he wasn’t dead yet which was a good sign that he would be able to live as long as he could gather the energy to move his body.
Slowly but surely the Vennor pushed himself away from the planet’s surface his face grower ever further away from the rock indention he had caused upon impact. It was trying to him as he lifted himself on to his knees he knew that if he were to transform the process would go much faster but there were two things that were stopping him from doing such a thing. First off he didn’t want to transform, sure it would have made dealing with such forcers easier but what there to gain in such an implemented idea, once his power was too drain out he would be just as weak as he had been before then. Secondly he couldn’t even if he wanted too, his energy was still tapped out from the landed, holding a heavy vessel as his was one thing but doing it on a planet that could rip him to the floor was another, he doubted that even if he did transform it wouldn’t last for long enough to even make much of a difference. Overall it was best if he fought the power of the planet with his own strength rather than rely on something that wasn’t perment, the first step was get on to his own feet before he was going to manage to do anything else.
There was plenty of things he needed to get done before he could even think of leaving the planet, and the list was getting longer and longer the more time he spent laying on the ground, again the clock was racing against him. Standing up on his own two feet was the first step he needed to conquer, then he had to get inside the broken vessel, repair it and then go after his target. The mission wasn’t over, it didn’t matter that he could barely stand or that his ship was a pile of shorting wires the job was still on. A true merc till the bitter end he was, anyone that he met through out the stars would know that.
Talking deep breath through the thick air he latched his hand onto the side of the ship he just needed something to display his weight over so that he could focus more on his leg strength than having to worry about falling back towards the planet’s surface. Scraping his feet along the rocky ground Anri pulled and pushed himself against the ship as even his force caused the ship to shift slightly against his weighted force. Clinging onto the ship Anri was able to place his weight on to his feet as he pushed away from the metal chuck he was able to stand on his own though it felt like the he was standing under the torrent of the universe largest waterfall. Struggling to keep himself up he now had to make his way inside of the ship which might prove to be more than problem that first glance would show, as the back of the ship were the hanger door was damaged heavily in the attack he was doubtful that it would even be able to open. It looked as though the only option he would have at the moment was too climb through the open cock pit, which he would have to scale the side of the ship to get inside of. Usually climbing things wouldn’t count as a problem but when having the weight of a sun pressing down on one’s self would prove as if one was going to climb a mountain rather than a few feet.
Regardless of difficult the climb was going to be he had to get it over with his life was on the line and though it would take him days to die without a source of water or food, time would be his death faster than either of the two. Fight or die was pretty much what it came down too but it was the life he was accustomed to living so he fit right in like a key stone. Fighting against the pull on his body he clasped onto a hand rail on the exterior of the ship as he pulled himself up the siding, his vision shook as he fought against the pull as he hoisted himself up. Such an experience reminded him of his days back in boot camp where they would put the new recruits through weight training, finding however much was the max weight that the individual could carry and then strap it onto them and send them running, hiking and climbing across the country side, it was an intensive work out but if would could make it back to the starting line they were ten times stronger than when they first set off. However this was a tad different whereas on Riva if one got too tired on the trip they could simply slip the weights off to take a break, but here there was no option to do such a thing it was a constant fight against the planet its self.
Reaching towards the rails with his shaking hands Anri yanked himself up higher and higher towards the open cockpit, already he could see the lip of the window coming within reach of his hands. Slipping his fingers onto the edge he took the best grip onto it as he could and pulled himself onto the mostly destroyed hood of the ship, slamming himself into the hull her laid there gasping for air. Even though the climb was but a few feet it felt as though he had just climb to the top of the world and had a few rounds with a monster, though not physical hurt his limbs were growing cold with fatigue, thinking it was best to just lay there for a few minutes to regain some of his bodily strength back. It had been a long time since he had something that had been as challenging as this happening to him, most people would upset or even angry at the fact they had to go through something like this but Anri was not, he was happy. He loved being challenged on the battle field or even just trying to survive, probably why he was the best in survival training back home.
The break didn’t last long as his heart rate dropped back down to normal and he could continue once again to finally reach the depths of his ship, while the winds had been buffing him the whole time they didn’t seem to faze his process much, and when he reached in interior of his lovely ship it would be one less thing he would have to worry about. The next part would possibly be the easiest so far as all it really required him to do was to crawl forward and fall into the cock pit area, it was a small drop but he had to be careful, his ship was designed to withstand his great weight but with the added gravity it was all possible that even a short fall could end with him falling through the metal plating of the floor. An extra hole in his ship wasn’t something he was going to look forward to fixing on top of a missing engine, and he wasn’t sure he would even have the parts to do such a repair at this point.
Slumping forward as gracefully as a turtle Anri pulled himself form the hood of the ship over the lip of the window, the drop was only but a few feet but he was going to take it as gently as he could, there was no room for error in his situation. Pulling his legs out in front of him first he pushed himself off the edge as he plummeted off the lip and onto the steel floor of the cockpit, using the edge of the window for support his landing wasn’t has harsh as he had been thinking but his weight sent vibrations running through the course of the ships metal frame. Sighing with relief that he was now in the comfort of his ship he glanced around its interior too see if any changes had occurred in the rough landing when he dropped the ship to the ground. Other than a few wrappers and cans scatted across the floor everything seemed to be in a rather stable condition, though it looked as though the steering shaft was nowhere to be found which made fixing it and impossible task. Thankfully with the auto polit getting off the world would only require him fixing the vehicle into a working condition and then letting the computer do the rest of the work.
Giving a rough sigh he pushed forward towards his chair as he needed to rest more, all the stress that he was placing on his body wasn’t good for his already unstable heath, even the small trip just from the outside of the ship had worn him down to his earlier state before he passed out. Taking it easy as not to break one of the only two chairs he had Anri lowered himself into the leathery chair as gently as he could, even so he could already hear the chair squeak under his mighty weight but it held in place. It was a small thing but it brought him a smile to have a little comfort in such a unforgiving place as this world was, he was rather lucky considered everything that had happened to him. If he had suffered a fracture or even managed to break one of his major limbs that would have been it for him here, he needed every part of his body in a full functioning state if he had any chance of returning to the stars once again.
Activating one of the buttons of the arm of his chair the lid to the cock pit began to lower as it fought against the high surface winds, even so its mechanically powered self outweighed that of the gusts and clamped down in a locked position. Another small victory tacked onto the first one, it seemed like things were going his way even if the wins were small he was going to take each and every one of them as they came his way, in the end it was the all the small things in life that built up to be something great. At least now he didn’t have to worry about the ragging winds outside attacking him at every available angle, and there was something else he learned; the ship still had power. Even in its damaged state it looked as though the main battery had not taken any damage in the attack or landing, though he would have to take a closer look at it too see if there was any leaks, even if there was though he could also rely upon the secondary battery to power the tools he was going to need.
Right now he needed to rest though the issues he faced would still be there when he woke and it wasn’t as if he was going anywhere soon. He was limited in time for what he needed to accomplish but it didn’t mean he had to run himself ragged, sometimes it was best to rest in times of survival, being weak from lack of it could cause a mistake that could surly end his life. Leaning the chair back at an angle a foot stool kicked out from the floor of the ship, it wasn’t padded to any degree but it would provide him with more comfort that would help him sleep better, at this point this was the closest thing he could call too bed on his vessel. Pulling against the gravity with his legs he managed to force his legs onto the metal stool, having the same effect as the chair it squealed under it new found weight but he cared little as his eyes quickly shut.
