The beam of energy could not have been more successful. Even with the wall of ice that formed before the human it struck home. At first the Cardinal had thought it might be strong enough to withstand the blast in similar fashion to how it had before when their techniques had intercepted another. The difference here was that the cold air had solidified into a wall, no longer in the gaseous energy based form in which it left Kurosanai’s lungs. Like any wall of concrete, ice or similar substance it was not able to hold up against the intense energy of the blast. Like a bullet through glass the beam pierces the makeshift shield.
With enough force behind the attack it sent the boy rocketing backwards. As Sebastian righted himself in the air he took a couple seconds to catch his breath. From here he could see the clouds of dust and rubble as his opponent was sent back through several buildings, the structures buckling against the impact of his body as easily as the wall had surrendered to his blast. While it was not pleasing to see part of his lovely city destroyed, he could not deny the satisfaction her found in gaining the upper hand on his foe. This rash boy was the embodiment of what was wrong with so many in the Universe. Too many individuals had power yet not the wit to wield it. Perhaps someone else might have attempted to talk things out with more successes, the two young human’s creatures of action, not words.
Well aware of his current advantage the Cardinal does not hesitate long before taking off after his foe. He was not able to sense his signature, but he was not prepared to end his assault yet. Aware of where Kurosanai had ended up he ducks and weaves around the buildings left crumbling in his wake, employing Zenzoken was he goes in order to throw off his own location. As he drew close to the structure that he could hear his foe shouting from, he circles, Zenzoken still in use as he darts around in what would seem a random pattern. When Kurosanai finished his statement the blonde makes his move, bursting in through the wall to the boy’s left. His appearance in comparison to the way the human was facing was sheer coincidence, Sebastian’s right fist cocked back to deliver a right hook across the other male’s jaw. ”I care not for your name!”

Footsteps echoed throughout the area. Sebastian had come looking to try and finish off the prodigy of the Muzai. Kurosanai never had a problem with the man personally; it was just that they were on opposite sides of this conflict. War did that to countless scores of populations over the eons of the existence in this universe. Kurosanai did not have a single clue as to what Sebastian’s home life was like or what his upbringing was. Surely the Universal Church of One had played a large roll in it just as the Muzai clan’s beliefs played a large role in the life of Kurosanai. It would have been interesting though to see what he had learned what they preached, who his friends were and what he had been exposed to in his childhood. All these helped shape the person who stood before him today. Perhaps if the situation was different then he could have asked him.
The air broke several times outside of the hollowed out building that Kurosanai was standing in. Each time his ears could pick up the powerful push off the ground each time. Kuro had no idea what Sebastian was doing outside the walls as he could not see him directly but whatever it was it was fast. The air continued to break time and again as the rubble crumbled under his foot. The prodigy of the Muzai’s patience and nerve began to shake as he waited for the Cardinal to make his appearance. The warm feeling dripping down the back of his skull only served to distract him. To be bleeding from the head while you enemy was hardly harmed was far from the position he wanted to be in. Head injuries were some of the worst kinds you could suffer as it not only inflicted outer flesh wound but often times it could severely impact balance, spatial judgment, hand eye coordination, and decision making processes. All were essential to coming out of battles victorious and to even be diminished on one was a drastic disadvantage.
While Kurosanai was busy with his own internal thought processes that seemed to be taking his focus just enough so that Sebastian was able to catch him off guard. The Cardinal came bursting into the room like a rocket into space. Cardinal had his fist cocked back and ready to strike with a fierce look adorning his face. ”I care not for your name!”
“Oh shit!” Kurosanai called out as he went to fall backwards to a more defendable position. But the head injury seemed to take its toll and he only managed to stumble backwards opposed to darting back like he had intended. All while that was happening the air that had been building in his chest escaped his lips as he cursed at the sudden appearance of the Cardinal. The result was the ice cold air exploding only a few feet in front of him in a near uncontrollable fashion in a cone shape with a small portion shooting right back at the prodigy of the Muzai. This caused him to be flung backwards once again as the ice had coldly clung to arms and chest. The ice burned away at his open hands causing him to yell out as he tumbled a few feet. Once he stopped he realized the effect it had on the building that had been perched above his head. Regardless of if it the ice breath had connected with the Cardinal the ice had connected with the weight bearing walls. The ice seemed to instantly freeze the thick walls and then with a sick cracking sound they snapped. This caused the building to come tumbling down on Kurosanai and the Cardinal if he had not escaped from the area in time. Tons of concrete, metal and glass came roaring down with the prodigy of the Muzai bracing both his arms above him in hopes of some kind of protection. Although it did prevent fatal wounds from occurring it left the young human male buried in the several feet of debris that came down upon him. The fate of the Cardinal was a complete mystery to the boy though he doubted he would have been killed by the collapse or attack.

The boys repetitiveness saved the Cardinal from a chilling end. While his movements around the outside of the building had given him the element of surprise, they had also given his foe time to prepare. Bursting through the wall Sebastian was ready to deliver a devastating right hook to the human's chin, but past experience quickly informed him of how deadly a mistake it might have been to continue the assault. Having see this particular attack used twice before he recognized the boys stance, his slightly inflated chest and the straining expression on his face. The cold air that Kurosanai was able to blast from his lungs had already proven a nuisance against attacks and the Cardinal had no desire to see what it would do to his skin.
There was only one problem, he had burst through the side of the building at full speed. As quick as his eyes were to notice the pending attack, his body was only able to react so fast. Abandoning his planned strike he throws the fist to the side, using the added momentum to aid his barrel roll. Just as the cone of Ki infused frigid air leapt forward, Sebastian tumbled sideways. Even with how well he had read the boy's plan, he still felt the cold air barely make contact with his left arm. Such brief and minimal contact was enough to chill the appendage to the bone, the muscles in his arm going numb. Perceptive eyes saw that the wall and ceiling were not so lucky, both surfaces turning to ice as the blast hit them. With momentum already carrying him sideways the blonde rolls right through the closest wall as the building collapses, saving himself from being buried alive.
Popping and cracking filled his ears as the building went down, multiple tons of materials burying Kurosanai within. This one was as reckless as the Saiyan's he had come with. As the dust cloud rose Sebastian floated up above it, eyes scanning the rubble below. Left arm still tingling he gathers Ki into his right, a sphere of energy forming. Unsure of how much of the frozen blast the boy had been caught in, the Cardinal did not know if he had survived. Potentially frozen and crushed, there was the possibility he had perished. Sebastian knew to take nothing for granted, energy still gathering should he need to continue. As the dust began to settle he watched for any movement. Unable to sense his foe the blonde trusted his eyes. If the boy moved from the rubble he would be met with another charged blast.
His senses told him of the battles around him, minus that of Ona and the other android, but what stuck out most was the fight involving Invictus. The Saiyan warriors had managed to amass incredible power, enough that Sebastian believed even the armored Cardinal would be wise to handle it carefully. Such power had the ability to destroy planets...such a scenario would doom them all.

Pain ran rampant through the prodigy’s body as tons of concrete and steel crushed him. He could barely breathe and the very little amount of air that could make it to his lungs was laced with dust and debris. His hands and arms burned from what he could only was a form of frostbite from the breath that had been expelled from his very own lungs. Kurosanai could not remember whether or not the attack had even been successful. Everything had happened so fast that he was not able to make out the results with his eyes. Then the building came down and now he was stuck in this predicament.
“Damn it…” Kurosanai groaned as his lungs began to fill with more dust and debris. His muscles ached and his joints screamed. He had no idea if people had been in the building or not so there was no way of telling what the amount of casualties were until after all the dust had been settled. But by then anyone who needed to be saved would already be dead. He needed to get up and search the rubble for any survivors and get into a more defensible positon if Sebastian was going to attack.
First came the slight movement of his arms lifting some of the debris. It provided enough room to take another breath. With another grunt he managed to force another concrete block from his legs. His eyes searched the darkness as his hands crawled over the rock beside him. From what he could tell he had maybe a foot and a half of a pocket completely surrounding his body. His hands pressed against the rock and it gave way a little bit. It was still possible to make it out of here without too much damage to himself but the problem was that there was no way to tell with this much debris if Sebastian was lying in wait to try and exterminate his life. “I don’t have much of a choice. Do I?” Kurosanai ask himself as he pushed.
The debris was heavy but after a few agonizing moments daylight broke through and the prodigy of the Muzai was able to rejoin the world. The light blinded him as his eyes tried to focus as much as possible. As the images began to settle to his horror all he was surrounded by was a debris laden wasteland. As his eyes scanned he noticed a slight movement. After a moment he was able to tell that it was a woman trying to lift a large chunk of debris from his legs. Without so much as thinking about the situation he was in Kurosanai broke into a sprint across the loose ground as he reached her the woman’s eyes were set ablaze in fear. He tried to push the look from his mind as his frost burned hands pull the large piece of debris from her legs. After doing so he rushed back to her just as her eyes began to fade.
“My daughter…save…” The woman uttered before falling lifeless against the ground. Kurosanai was not sure what she meant until he heard a small cough. Kurosanai gently moved the now deceased woman to find a small unconscious girl underneath her. The woman had tried to save her daughter and even with her dying breath she asked the man that caused the building collapse to watch over her. Kurosanai went to reach out with shaking hands when a voice cut through the tension.
‘You are not done fighting yet.’ Fujin stated coldly. At this Kuro did a quick spin and that was when he saw Sebastian with a ball of energy charging in one hand while the other hung limply from his side. He could either leave this little girl here to possibly get wrapped up in the crossfire or he could try and get her out of here. There was not even a second thought, Kurosanai turned and picked up the little girl. With a burst of speed he darted away towards the edge of the battlefield. He had to get her out of here even if it meant possibly taking more damage and losing this battle.

Sebastian was gathering energy still as the rubble began to shift. So the boy lived, that didn’t matter as he was now a sitting duck. Ki pulsing in his hand he was ready to unleash it on the boy when he heard something else moving in the rubble. Scanning the ground he searched for what it had been, eyes resting on the partially crushed woman. Looking back to Kurosanai he was already on his feet, the Cardinal cursing himself for not having blasted him sooner. How would he be able to save this woman with his foe so close? Then Kurosanai moved for the woman himself, the blonde’s eyes narrowing in suspicion. Was he to try and save the girl or use her as a human shield?
Ultimately it would be neither, her weak signature fading as she moved on to meet Aon. That had settled it, Kurosanai was open once more. Pulling his arm back he was again about to blast the human when he bends down to pick something up…it was a child. Damn it, the city’s residents were supposed to have been evacuated, why had these two remained behind? Again though, the boy surprises him by taking off with the girl before rocketing towards the outskirts of the city. Cursing himself for having missed his chance to finish the boy he abandons his charge, letting the energy dissipate as he pursues his foe. Rocketing after him he follows him all the way to the edge of the city.
”You would take a hostage?” He finally asks as they come to a stop, thinking that is what the boy intended. Floating in the air he felt feeling coming back to his wounded arm, the Cardinal shaking it some to quicken the process. Watching the human intently he was prepared to do what he must to protect this girl’s life, he had no idea what Kurosanai intended.

The girl was barely breathing due to the debris and smoke that had filled her lungs. If she did not receive aid shortly she would join her mother in the afterlife. That possibility was beyond acceptable for the prodigy of the Muzai. He was not going to let a little girl that he had put into danger, even though that was far from his intention, die on his watch. Kurosanai did not truly know where he was going. Initially he was just trying to flee from Sebastian and his blast. As he dashed across the field of battle he waited for the blast to rain down upon him but it never came. It was not until he reached the initial perimeter of the battlefield that he realized that Sebastian had abandoned his blast and was now following him.
It was kind of sick to think that the man was circling like a shark just waiting for the opportunity to strike. Kurosanai doubted that he even cared for the little that clung to life now and that he was merely doing this for appearances. It turned his stomach knowing that the only thing stopping the wrath of the Cardinal that had been this small personification of hope for the future. The next thought made his stomach turn even more. War rarely created peaceful individuals and even less so to war survivors that had lost their family on the battle field. This girl would probably face the same choice that followed many of the survivors, do I seek revenge or do I seek that it never happen again? More often than not they chose to take revenge which only perpetuated a never ending cycle. Kurosanai did not want to perpetuate the cycle even more and it only made him sick.
“If you make it through this. Be different, be the one to choose peace over war. Do not buy into this evil cycle, you have to try and live for something more. Do not be one of the victims to give in to hate.” Kurosanai spoke to the girl as she struggled for her life. It would not take long for him to finally break through the edge of the city he managed to spot a group of people forming in an orderly fashion. They were looking to escape the hellscape that was descending upon their home. In a split second the prodigy of the Muzai descended into the group. As he touched down several people leapt backwards out of fear which only made his heart break.
“Please I need someone’s help. She needs medical attention that I cannot give her.” Kurosanai stated plainly. At first the group only moved away from him out of fear as Sebastian was no doubt not far away. Each time he attempted to hand her to someone they stumbled backwards. “Please! She needs help! I cannot give her the medical attention she needs!” Kurosanai pleaded as more people backed away.
“I can take her.” A voice called out. An old man appeared from the crowd with his hands extended.
“Thank you,” Kurosanai said as he transitioned the little girl to the old man’s arms.
“Do not thank me off worlder. I will help one of my own. Do not mistake my kindness for her as kindness for you. You brought war here and I only want to protect her.” The old man chastised. Kuro’s eyes grew darkened as he sensed the hatred that he probably rightly deserved. He had destroyed homes and livelihoods just like when he took the life of Arpatiko. Slowly backing away he began to lift off the ground as he prepared to reengage Sebastian. As he did the little girl’s eyes opened and drifted over towards Kurosanai.
“I am sorry. This was never my intention. I never meant to do this…” Kurosanai drifted off as he lifted higher into the air. Turning to Sebastian he called out, “If you want to finish this follow me. We can surely find a better spot then this.” Without waiting for an answer Kurosanai took off away from the city and out to sea at top speed. He just wanted to get far away from the civilians. After a few minutes of flying he would come upon a series of high rocks that rose about twenty feet out of the ocean, maybe thirty in total. Kurosanai did not know if this rock cluster had a name or not but he would land softly on the top of one of the rocks.
“Let’s finish this. I am tired of destroying lives…maybe here I can avoid that…” Kurosanai stated softly as he turned his attention to Sebastian.

Following the other human Sebastian watched with narrowed eyes as the boy continued to hold the girl, even ignoring his question. This human was willing to take the life of another and now was to stoop to the level of taking a hostage? He claimed the church was the evil party here, yet he showed no regard for the lives of those these battles had threatened. If him and his companions had just surrendered from the start then there would have been no reason for others to lose their lives. Hell, if they had let him take care of Conri Lane back on Belegost it would have all ended there. The rest of them would have been taken in with open arms, given information they desired and even a ship back if that is what they wanted. The Universal Church of One was not out to take the lives of all they crossed, only those unnaturally brought back into the Universe. In fact, they looked to protect the others, especially from the Saiyans. Had the rest of the Universe not studied history and known the war based race was destined to repeat its past?
If only others had assisted the Church then countless lives would be save. So many did not see it. Even now the Saiyan military carried out missions, some as hired guns for other parties, but others for their conquest of more resources. The whole of the race was confined to one moon of Earth, how long was that going to be sufficient? Instead this party comes with a directive to find a lost ship, but soon turn their eyes on violence. Now, taking a step further this boy was taking a hostage or at least that is what Sebastian had initially thought.
To his surprise, and his relief the human hands the girl off to a escaping group of civilians. Again he had thought the girl and the group in trouble as he approached, but it seemed his intentions were not to kill them. Floating in the air as he manages to hand the child off the Cardinal was ready to defend them if it was all a ploy. Immediately after passing the child he takes off. Rocketing after him Sebastian follows him to the water, waves crashing against the rocks below them as they come to a stop.
”You save a girl’s life, but are so anxious to take mine. If you wished to save lives you could have done so from the very beginning. Your choice was to fight and kill, have some backbone boy and live with the decisions that you have made.” For someone that was so anxious to kill him on their first meeting after killing Arpatiko the seemed almost reluctant to fight. For a human that had come so far for his mission, he seemed so unsure of what it was he was doing here.

The air smelled of salt as the wind whipped through the rock formation. If left alone Kurosanai probably could have enjoyed some blissful meditation in this spot. The prodigy wondered if there was ever a moment a mystic or a sage from the Universal Church of One sat in this spot wondering about the universe as a whole in deep prophetic thought. He wouldn’t know though because the opportunity would never be extended to him.
”You save a girl’s life, but are so anxious to take mine. If you wished to save lives you could have done so from the very beginning. Your choice was to fight and kill, have some backbone boy and live with the decisions that you have made.” The Cardinal spat in disgust as he touched down on a rock opposite of Kurosanai. His words stung and only seemed to pull images of the horrific death that Arpatiko suffered at his hands. Kurosanai was incapable of committing to murder someone of his own accord it seemed now. People talked of taking lives back home like there was little thought or consequence to it. Even the prodigy of the Muzai was guilty of that but now that he had it changed everything. It seemed that he could not fight with conviction. The blood ran down the back of his skull warming it to its touch and matting his hair at the same time. His hands stung from the frost burn that had appeared.
“This never had to be like this…” Kurosanai said quietly to himself. Sebastian held a hatred for Kurosanai that he could never imagine and he deserved every ounce of it. “I couldn’t stand idly by as you tried to take my friend’s life back on Belegost. To do so would have been the equivalent as murder…which I am guilty of anyways. This is not what I wanted. I was hired to find a missing crew, not start a war or jump into one. Instead this is what I got…Arpatiko lies dead in a cavern under a pile of rocks and now I fight you. Killing civilians and destroying…” Kurosanai began to speak before he was cut off by a bright flash of light. The winds changed dramatically as they now fled away from the city. Kurosanai could not sense power with ease but even he could tell that this far dwarfed anything that he had felt before including Conri’s own power not long before. He could never imagine the damage that would ensue after an explosion like that. How could he ever compare to something like that?
“I don’t believe…” Kurosanai stammered as he was left stunned. He was caught up in the moment and seemed to forget that he was in the middle of a life and death battle. War was a place that Kurosanai was beginning to severely hate. No longer would he talk of it with a gilded appeal like the songs often betrayed it. War was hell and nothing but chaos and death.

”It is not what you wan….” Sebastian felt the explosion as well, the sudden burst of energy causing the air to whip around them. His hair and white outfit ruffled violently in the sudden burst of air. That signature had been Ninjin Hattori. What had given the Saiyan such a burst in power and why had Invictus allowed it? A few moments later the answer became clear.
Turning the blonde looks back to the city as the dome of glowing energy eradicates most of the city. Steel and stone could not stand against such power, no matter how reinforced it might have been by science or magic. Wind continues to blow past them as the dome expands, taking in more of the city, reducing the majority of it to ash and dust. Squinting some at the radiance even from this distance, Sebastian’s eyes widened as he realized what had happened. As the explosion reached its limits, burning itself out he could no longer sense the life force of Ninjin Hattori…or any of the others that had been in the city? Could they have all been obliterated or was it merely the explosion itself blocking his senses from picking up any others?
Either way the destruction had been done. Shaking his head slowly he knew any citizens that had been still within the city were now gone. Grinding his teeth some he whirls back to Kurosanai. ”See what you and your friends have done? See what it is the Saiyan’s are capable of? They speak of justice and peace, but all they do is bring destruction. That blast was Ninjin Hattori’s doing and now a city has been whipped from the face of Mement Mor! How long do you think Earth will remain safe with their home so close by? It is only a matter of time before they target your kin. Coming here was your choice, your mistake and now you shall pay for it just like innocent civilians have, with your life!”
With a sudden burst of speed the Cardinal rushes his foe, planning to kill the foolish human where he stood. Too many lives had been lost already. The strange group had show up unannounced and with their own intentions, but had brought only death and destruction. Some played the role of what they believed to be heroes even when they caused the destruction. Would the hero not have laid down his own life to save that of others? This boy had saved one life that was true, but it did not outweigh all those he had doomed. Blue aura blazing the blonde human heads straight for him, dual Ki blasts flying from his hands before a flurry of kicks and punches come in behind the cover shots.

The globe was amazing to look at in a grim sort of way. His blood ran cold at the power that existed that was so far beyond him that he could never even hope to stand in its presence. To think that Conri could stand amongst those blasts was beyond Kurosanai. He had barely been able to stand with Conri back in the Gamma Slums back during the Galactic Tournament then on Belegost he seemed to be at an entirely different level and now he was at an ungodly level. If he truly had this kind of potential then Conri was going to be able to go further in power than anyone has ever gone in centuries. He could very well pass the feats that Fujin Muzai had been able to achieve, who ranked one of the most powerful beings in Earth’s history over the last six hundred years.
Sebastian’s words seemed muffled and fell on deaf ears. Kurosanai was so caught up in the awe of the blast that he did not realize what was going on. Over the roar of the wind by his ears he never heard Sebastian burst in power. But he did however feel the ground break under Sebastian’s foot as he burst forward. Kurosanai looked down just in time to see two large balls of ki slam into his chest sending him flying backwards in a small explosion. The only solace that the boy enjoyed was that as the first connected the second blast detonated before making contact with him and only added a small explosion to the first attack. The concussive force shot through his body and he seemed to be unable to move searched desperately for a way to recover. Nothing came to the young man’s mind as the combination of the most recent attack and that of the head injury that he had received earlier. The pain was not over however as he felt a hard kicked land in his stomach forcing him backwards as the air escaped his lungs. Unable to move and unable to breathe, Kurosanai’s situation seemed anything but bright. Searching for some kind of opening he finally managed to get his hands up in front of his face just as a fist slammed hard into one of the spots that had been touched by the ice. With a grunt of pain his arms fell to his side as several more strikes rained down onto his head.
The poor boy’s skull bounced from side to side with sickening force as numerous cuts were opened across his face causing blood to run down it. Kicks cracked against each side of his body sending gasps of air running away from him and his stomach to become inflamed in bruises. Then came a sickening crack as he felt several of his ribs crack against the kick. Darting backwards he was able to avoid a few strikes but not all. An overhand punch sent Kurosanai flying back into one of the protruding stones. Upon contact Kuro’s body left a crater behind it as is body had sunk several inches into the rock face allowing him to hang there for the time being. He looked like a doll that was pushed back into clay when a child wished to create an imprint. Blood dripped through his left eye forcing it closed from the sting of the crimson liquid. His mouth hung open as he tried to fill his lungs back with air again but it all seemed for naught as they were constricted against broken ribs that ran along his left side. His Aoiro flickered out as he no longer was able to channel enough energy into his eyes with his mind so distracted from the pain. From his toes to his nose nothing was spared from the pain. How quickly this fight had turned due to his own stupidity. It had left him injured numerous times during this conflict and now it seemed to culminate in the position he was in now. He was going to die, unless someone came to his aid he was going to die at the hands of this Cardinal.
“Alone…in space…I…I don’t want…want to die…here…” Kurosanai coughed as a small amount of blood spurt from his mouth. Even if he was going to somehow win this fight he would be in no condition to fight anyone else. He was proving useless just like he was on Belegost against Arpatiko, just like back in the Galactic Tournament when he fought against Frigid and just like Izanami had probably predicted. He didn’t want to die here but he knew it was going to happen. This Cardinal was either going to beat him to death or blow him up and leave nothing left. The prodigy of the Muzai slowly accepted this fate as his arms and legs did not want to respond back to his mental commands. If given enough time or some power they would surely move but he had neither. Perhaps if he dug down far enough he could force he arms up one more time to defend himself but he was not sure how well that would work.
“I didn’t…think I would lose here…not during my first venture into true combat.” Kurosanai mumbled to himself through blood stained lips. “I am sorry…I am sorry to everyone…” Kurosanai coughed much louder. Images of his friends and family back on Earth began to run through his head knowing that ehy would never see him again. Then images of the new friends that he had formed in these last few months: Frigid, Conri Lane, that Saiyan Celeh, the Lemur King of Newbraska, the woman that was helping fight alongside him against the former although he was pretty sure she would slap him if the chance was provided and then Carla AnAn. His memories of the two together were brief but he did feel a connection with her that was beyond words. Perhaps it was his sense of duty to abide by the arranged marriage that Izanami had set up or it was something more. He cursed himself as all the possibilities of the two began to run through his head. The two of them would have to wait many years before they could be officially be married but in the dark it seemed like such a sweet prospect.
“I am sorry…” Kurosanai said as a tear ran down his cheek cutting a path through the crimson from his other wounds. The prodigy of the Muzai hung from the imprint that he left in the rock with a fairly broken body unsure if he could defend himself. He could try all he wanted but it appeared death had finally come for Kurosanai and there was nothing he was going to be able to do to stop it.

For whatever reason the boy seemed off in his own little world, his movements slower than they had been before, as if something was weighing him down. The Cardinal had no intention of letting such an opportunity slip by. Behind him the partial destruction of one of the places he called home drove him forward, propelled each strike with as much strength as Sebastian could muster. Perhaps it was not that his opponent had slowed, but that the blonde had pushed past his previous limits. Anger and contempt pushed him now, demanded that he fight harder in order to prevent future death and damage to those he was sworn to protect. To be a Cardinal of The Universal Church of One was not just to wield power and order those below you around. It meant to lead by example and give everything to protect others loyal to Aon. All of them knew this and all of them understood nothing less than their life was demanded when it came to Aon’s will.
A left hook came into catch the other human hard across the jaw, his head snapping to the left only long enough for a right to send it back the other way. Next a knee blew past Kurosanai’s guard and drove up hard into his ribs. Air audibly left the boys lungs as Sebastian continued his onslaught. This was the turn in the battle, when one of them truly gained an upper hand on the other. Several more blows connected with the reeling human as the blonde continued to attack, his opponent soon back up to the stone. Even then the strikes did not cease as the Cardinal literally beat his foes into the rock. The more he struck the slower the boy seemed to go before it appeared a dazed had come over him. It was time to end this.
Pulling back from the boy Sebastian utilizes his bukujutsu to elevate himself some. Cupping his hands at his side as he had done several times before the cardinal began to gather energy. A blue sphere burst to life as he does, the beginnings of an energy wave that would remove this invader from the Universe. Blue sparks of energy crackled and arch off of the growing sphere as it nears the level of energy that was his current maximum. If only the young boy had never ventured to this world, had travelled the start with some other group of explorers he might have not met this fate. Such was not the case and Aon declared this boy an enemy of his faithful, a crime which he would die for.
”I do not regret taking your life after I have seen what your allies are capable of, but I do hope you find forgiveness in the life beyond. You walked into a situation you did not understand so Aon may show mercy.” With those parting words Sebastian thrust his arms forward, the blue sphere between them erupting into a wave of crackling blue energy. With this attack he had come close to taking the life of Conri Lane and now he would end the life of his friend. Kurosanai Muzai would be no more.

The moment had come. Sebastian had beaten the prodigy to the point that he was barely able to respond to anything. His eyes looked up with half a glaze on them as Sebastain reared back his hand as energy began to form in it. It was only fitting that he was destroyed and taken form this world in a similar method as to what he used against Arpatiko. His chest burned in pain as his breathing grew shallow as his mind tried to race with panic. It could try but there was nothing that he would fight for so the panic washed over him and then washed away in an instant. A tear ran down his cheek as he watched the blast leap from the Cardinal’s hand.
‘Pathetic.’
The voice ripped through Kurosanai’s mind breaking the peaceful bliss of surrender. An instant later a pain that rocked him to his very soul tore through his body. It felt like every muscle in his body was being ripped apart piece by piece. The pain had been so great that Kurosanai had not noticed that time seemed to stop. The beam that had been charging forward to take the prodigy of the Muzai’s life had screeched to a halt. His mind could not comprehend what was happening when all of a sudden everything seemed to melt away into white. Was this really what watching your life flashing across your eyes was like?
A thudding force slammed into the back of Kurosanai sending him tumbling into the white void. He tumbled end over end for several feet before landing hard against and invisible plane of ground. Struggling to his feet the prodigy turns around as his eyes cast a quick glance upwards. The rock that he had been wedged into was gone without a trace. Blood dripped down his cheek before falling off the bottom of his jaw. With each drop the sound of it colliding with the ground echoed concussively through the white void. Spinning on his heels he began to look for any sign of life. Have I already passed into the land of the dead? As he was spinning an invisible force slammed into his stomach sending pain rippling through his torso as the air escaped his lungs. Before he had a moment to even process what was going on another force slammed into the side of his head slamming him into the ground. Gasping Kurosanai reached out to try and find a hand hold but as he did a crushing pain appeared on his hand causing him to yell out.
‘You are just pathetic you know that? Given everything gift in the world and you throw it away the first time the fight gets tough you give in.’ A voice echoed. Kuro’s eyes searched for the source but were unable to find anything until a figure began to appear. The figure had its heel grinding into the boy’s hand. ‘If you are supposed to be the last of my line then I have should have never have given my techniques onto my sons. They weren’t able to properly use them and neither can you.’
Fujin’s hand descended towards Kuro’s head. His fingers laced through his hair before gripping tightly. Ripping upwards he forces Kurosanai to his feet until he is standing eye to eye with him. The cuts and blood obscured some of the view of Kuro’s face but the defeated look in his eye could not be hidden. A look of disgust spread across Fujin’s face before his free fist slammed hard into the side of the prodigy’s jaw sending him stumbling backwards. After catching his balance the boy looked back at Fujin with eyes that had no fire left.
“I guess I failed at that as well…” Kurosanai mumbled. Without a word Fujin disappeared and then reappeared in front of Kurosanai. A fist slammed into his gut harder than Sebastian could have ever hit him. Kuro could have sworn that his were going to bulge out of his skull. This was followed by an open palm to the bottom of the jaw. Once again he stumbled backwards as he felt his teeth nearly shatter under the force of the strike.
‘Pathetic. Just fucking pathetic.’ Fujin slid forward and threw another punch once again connecting with the side of his head. If they had been in the real world it would have killed the young man but in this weird demi-world it only sent an indescribable amount of pain rippling through his face. As he began to fall to his side another fist slammed into his face forcing him in the other direction. Punch after punch Kurosanai stumbled backwards as he struggled to breathe under the weight of the attack. ‘If you want to die so badly then I will gladly fulfill that desire. After centuries of the Muzai clan’s descent I am left with just you. You don’t deserve this gift. You don’t deserve life. You will get exactly what you want, to die.’ Fujin yelled never letting up.
Crawling closer to the end the pain began to blur together. No longer could he feel each strike but rather the just pain. Each strike brought back a different face. His mother’s. His father’s. Mozoku. Izanami. Old Man Sarutobi. Conri Lane’s. Frigid’s. Carla’s. And then his own. The smiling face of the young kid that was caught up in the mystique of being the chosen one that had received the Aoiro no Tsuisata. That smile just purely innocent and carefree. It was in that moment that he something clicked inside of Kurosanai. The desire to keep living seemed to ignite once again. Like a small flame in the far off darkness initially it began to grow until it reached a raging inferno. His body seemed to fill with a purpose once again and the will to live surged back.
As Fujin’s punch closed in on Kurosanai’s face for yet another strike the founder of the modern Muzai would never feel the soft flesh of another successful blow. Instead it had been caught by the empty hand of his punching bag. Looking down to the successfully blocked blow briefly before drifting back up once again a smile grew across his face.
“I WILL NOT DIE HERE!” Kurosanai roared back at his ancestor.
‘Now this just got a whole lot more interesting. Bout time someone broke through again,” Fujin stated with a knowing smile. Suddenly the world began to reassemble quickly as the blast reassumed its righteous path towards Kurosanai.
At the last possible second the prodigy’s hand shot forward. The blast slammed into his open palm and began to struggle to continue any further. Unlike any power that he had ever achieved before a surge ripped through his body. An aura immediately burst around his body as his power level began to climb higher and higher. The Cardinal would never sense it due to his old jacket but it did not matter. The power that was coursing through his body finally peaked with a yell. Immediately the burst outwards of power caused the rock behind him to explode into pieces and the blast extinguished. Shooting upwards into the sky he separated himself from his last location. His body seemed to move of its own accord. It was not any mind that was in control but rather his own training. He had taken that step into the abyss with the full trust that he would be able to fly.
Charging forward Kurosanai would reignite his Aoiro no Tsuisata with a burst of energy. Instantly his target, Sebastian De’Vont, would light up as his eyes were able to pick up every ki pathway in his body. Once in striking distance the prodigy of the Muzai would strike as fast as his could using his family’s fighting style. The strike would reign down not just on the torso of the Cardinal but also across both arms. Once completed the human would slam his leg hard into Sebastian’s rib cage, if successful the prodigy would throw hard right at his shoulder and then a left at his face. This would be followed up by both of Kurosanai’s hand grabbing on of his arms and tossing the Cardinal down hard at the rock face that they had originally been standing on. He would only give him a brief moment of rest before charging down after him. If the Cardinal had simply come to a stop in the rock face then he would flip him over onto his back. If he happened to plunge down into the sea then Kurosanai could charge after him, grab him from his watery resting place before tossing him upon another face.
In either case Kurosanai would stand over the Cardinal was ball of fire burning hotter than he had ever channeled before in his hand. He would stand over him seething with shallow breathing. The final strike would never come though he wanted to see the terror in his eyes. If war was going to change him then he wanted to experience the worst of what it had to offer. Show me the terror. Give me what I want. Until he got what he wanted the Cardinal would be left alive and suffering.

Impossible.
That is exactly what it was. The beam of energy that should have obliterated the boy was stalled in the palm of his hand. Pour more energy into the attack Sebastian was unaware of the quickly rising power of his foe. Gritting his teeth the blonde forces as much Ki into the attack as he can and still it was not enough. With an explosion of power Kurosania bursts upwards, the rock he had been embedded in reduced to rubble as he breaks free of it. The blue beam that had been meant to end his life was uselessly sent into the sea. Water boiled as it dove beneath the waves, but it was ultimately a waste.
Unable to follow his opponent’s new movements his head snaps up only as Kurosanai reaches the height of his ascent. ”Where did…” Were the only words that the Cardinal was able to get out before his foe was on top of him. With speed unrivaled by anything the pair had seen thus far in their fight the boy landed blows, Sebastian’s futile attempts to block looking like little more than flailing arms and legs. Each blow jolted his body painfully, the kick to the body cracking several ribs in the process. The left hook that connected with his jaw left the entire side of his head aching, his jaw perhaps dislocated or at the very least sporting a crack itself. Unable to defend himself Sebastian was then sent hurtling down towards the rock, slamming into the rock face that he had been standing on not minutes before. The force he struck with sent rocks and dirt flying as the ground caved beneath his body.
Letting out an audible groan the Cardinal was rolled over, his body aching and partially unresponsive. His stolen jacket blocked any attempts to read his assailants power signature, but it was obvious he had increased his power strength by several levels. How had the boy come across this power? Was it some sort of influx of energy that his near death situation had brought forth? Coughing some, tasting blood each time he did, Sebastian had no idea what had happened.
Invictus was struggling against the Saiyan’s, Ona was nowhere to be seen and he was sorely outmatched. How had events turned so sour so quickly…how could the chosen of Aon fail? There must have been more to all of this, something deeper then the death and bloodshed these invaders had brought to his home. Coughing again the Cardinal narrows his eyes at the boy that stood above him. They claimed the Church monsters, but the Church had taken far less lives this day than these would be heroes. Perhaps that was Aon’s will, let the Universe see what such people were capable of. Maybe that would draw more attention to the Church and what it stood for, draw more to Aon’s will so that they may see the light and the organization would ultimately, become stronger. Whatever the meaning of this sudden and brutal fight Sebastian was sure it was Aon’s will; otherwise he would not have let them lay down their lives for nothing.

His chest rose and fell as the flames licked at his hand. His eyes tainted by the frenzy that still ran through his body from the massive power up. His muscles burned and his bones ached as he maintained the power. The sad fact of the matter was that fighting a long fight with this new power coursing through his beaten body was not possible. But it didn’t matter as the fight appeared to be over just as suddenly as the power had arrived within Kurosanai. The Cardinal lay in his own imprint with the dust still settling around him. During the attack he had felt his body cry out under the stress of the devastating strikes delivered by the prodigy of the Muzai. One impact that had resonated with the young man was the one that had landed on the Cardinal’s jaw line. The sickening pop and crack was disgusting. Yet there was something that deep down knew that this was needed and begged for him to enjoy that feeling.
It screamed to him to enjoy the moment that was before him. To watch his enemy suffering in pain after inflicting so much upon his own body. It told him to watch his enemy’s face contort in agony as he slowly removed limb after limb, to cauterize the wounds and then to continue over and over again. It preached to him how it would be satisfying and provide a sense of ecstasy to inflict the pain upon his enemy. The images of everything that it wanted to do flashed through the young man’s mind. Remove the fingers, the hands, the feet, the shins, break the ribs, shatter the nose, rip off the ears and rip out the tongue. Then when he was left with only tears running down his face it showed him to sever his head from his body. The prodigy of the Muzai was more than tempted to give into this power driven blood lust that had flooded over him.
Yet his hand did not move.
His mind screamed for him to inflict pain upon on him for creating so much death and destruction. But his body refused to move. It was as if it could sense that it shouldn’t give in to this dark side, that it knew it was wrong.
Blood dripped down his face from the numerous cuts that adorned his face. They stung with pain every time he took a breath. The wound that he had received on his head seemed to have finally clotted leaving his hair a blood soaked matted nest of debris and dust. His lips were stained red as the coppery taste of blood continued to sneak its way into his mouth. The heat from the fire amplified the pain that resided in his arms from the frost burn he had received earlier in an exchange between the prodigy and the Cardinal. The new found power did not take the edge off when it came to the pain that coursed through his body. Perhaps that was why his hand shook or perhaps it was because he still did not lack the will to kill.
The hand on Sebastian’s chest tightened as Kurosanai took a deep breath in bring his arm back in a motion to strike. But it never came. Once again Kurosanai took a deep breath in and his hand went backwards. Different results never manifested. Even through the power fueled bloodlust his teaching of valuing everything life continued to sneak back. Biting down on his lip his teeth dug into the flesh. Slowly a few small streams of blood began to run down his chin as the frustration built in his body.
“WHY DO YOU NOT SPEAK?!” Kurosanai suddenly spat in anger. He didn’t know why it mattered whether or not the Cardinal was speaking but it seemed to be the one focus of his energy. “Why do you not beg for your life? You spent the entire time we clashed spewing nothing but hatred for me and yet you do not live up to that of what you have become. Those driven by hatred give in and beg for their life! No matter their pride!” Deep down Kuro knew this wasn’t true but his conscious was looking for any reason to let go of the Cardinal. Each word carried slightly less vitriol than the last. His voice began to grow hoarse from all of the blood that had been channeled down his throat. Pushing downwards the prodigy would cause the Cardinal’s body to imprint against the rock as his eyes flared with anger once again.
“WHY DO YOU NOT SPEAK WHEN IT MATTERS MOST?!”
