Sebastian and Kurosanai were probably rather close in age as far as the Cardinal could tell. Yet, there was a vast difference in maturity. While Sebastian acted out of duty and faith, Kurosanai acted out of emotion and necessity. So similar yet so different were the two fighters. Being pressed into the ground now by his much stronger foe Sebastian was seemingly resigned to his fate. Looking up at the boy he had tried so hard to kill after the death of Arpatiko he knew he had failed. How would Aon judge him when his time inevitably came? He hoped well for he had given it his all, bided his time when he needed too and when on the offensive when he could. His fate, one way or another, was no longer in his own hands…then again, it never had been.
”What would you have me say?” The words forced considering the broken ribs in the Cardinal’s torso. His return question was a simple one. Both of them already knew the beliefs of the other, whether it be faith or dedication to ones allies they were equally committed to ensuring victory so that those they fought for would live. ”You speak as if what I have become is in no way tainted by your own perception. I am only what you define me as, nothing more. No matter what I say or what I believe it is ultimately up to another to label me is it not?” Sebastian coughs as he had spoken too much, his weakened body struggling to breathe as it was. Looking up at the boy his face showed the pain his body felt, but no fear. ”I spoke when it mattered most, but you would not listen.” Coughing once more the Cardinal knew he was outmatched. He was dedicated to his cause and his god, but not a fool. One could not topple a skyscraper with a weak gust of wind. In this fight he no longer stood a chance.

Tainted by his perception? Was the Cardinal actually being tainted by his perception? The words were like poison and it slowly ate away at him. How could the Cardinal claim that he was the one in the right after everything that had happened? He had been the one to order Arpatiko to attack if Kurosanai and Frigid tried to join in the fray to save Conri. He had been the one to draw sword against Conri first and he had been the one that Kurosanai had just barely stopped before his blade fell. But Kurosanai had been the one to jump at Arpatiko, he had been the one to seek blood when the leader of the Kinigos stood down and he was the one that now preached of peace only after bringing war.
The blood stung his eyes and the air only caused ripples of pain to shoot through his wounds. The heat from his hand was enough to cast a wave of warmth over his cheek. The shaking continued to grow in his arm as he tried to harden his soul. The Cardinal was at his mercy and everything wanted to end this war. To end it in a burning blast of fire.
”I spoke when it mattered most, but you would not listen.”
The words hung in the air and it seemed only to make Kurosanai’s eyes grow wide as a sense of brutality ignited in his soul. His breathing stopped and his eyes stopped twitching. They were locked solely on the face of the Sebastian De’Vont. The blonde was nothing more than a pretty face that had been awarded some semblance of power. He knew nothing of the struggle that the prodigy of the Muzai had gone through. He took lives like they were nothing more than play things. That was when his hand fell.
The fire jettisoned from his hand as it plummeted downwards. The fire was the hottest the young man had ever felt in his life. It was actually so hot that some of the flames actually began to give the young man low degree burns to the top of his fingers and hand. Though the flames were lively and full of energy Kurosanai’s face was blank and emotionless. He was done with the situation and he was ready to move on. The fire nova that launched from his hand ate through the rock with ferocious appetite before escaping through cracks and fissures that formed along the wall of the pillar. When the flames finally stopped where the fire had eaten away at the rock was nothing more than blackened rock with a few embers still flickering orange deep in the whole.
His chest fell slowly as his eyes seemed to die inside. This fight was over and he was ready to go home. His joints ached, his skinned burned and his head spun. The power that was coursing through his veins was beginning to wane a bit as his body began to actually try and handle it. It caused his hands to shake and surely it would require rest later. Perhaps this new power was something that he could achieve time and again but he would not know this day. Kurosanai’s left hand which still clenched the body of Sebastian De’Vont tightened before lifting it to its feet.
“This fight is done.” Kurosanai stated bluntly to the still living Cardinal.
He had spared the young man. The fire at eaten away at the very rock that was a mere few inches away from his head. Sure some of his hair may have been singed but the way he had channeled the fire there should have been no serious damage to the man’s head. His hand finally unclenched as the young prodigy took a slight step back. War made for some strange encounters. Surely there was no doubt in anyone’s mind that the two could have very well been friends but that was not what fate had in mind. It had pitted these two against each other for a reason, one that he was not entirely sure of. Perhaps one day it might make sense.
Looking at the Cardinal long in the eyes, Kuro’s Aoiro no Tsuisata still fully brazened, he took a deep breath in before releasing it slowly. Afterwards he would walk around the Cardinal and right to the edge of the pillar they had finished their fight on. His eyes were fixed to the city that smoked raised from off in the distance. So much destruction, he had hoped that he would never have to see such a thing in his lifetime again.
“I am breaking this circle of hatred. I fought a man I did not know and took his life because I was quick to act. Not this time. This time you can go back to your home and family. Tell them that I gave you mercy when there was none to find.” Kurosanai stated as he took another deep breath. “Let them know that this Universal Church of One failed on this day. That lives were pointlessly taken because of the hatred that they spread throughout the dominion. Let them know that your god has turned his back on you, that he has turned his back on you all.” Kurosanai stated coldly.
His back would remain to the Cardinal. He had given him his life and in returned hoped that one day he might see the error in his thinking in order to spread war throughout the universe. That was his one hope for the young blonde but if that actually happened he would not be able to tell.
“No god lives here,” Kurosanai mumbled at a volume that the Cardinal might just be able to hear.

Sebastian was not afraid to meet his end. Those with a true faith had no fear of death or what might come afterwards. As a Cardinal of the Universal Church of One the human had served his people and his god with the majority of his life. Today that ended in failure though, the numbers of his opponents having gotten the best of him. Still there was solace to be found for Invictus had already taken care of Ninjin Hattori and the female that had arrived with him was no more. The people had been evacuated and those who had strove to hurt them would soon be stopped. Regardless of his failure the Church would move on. With the hand of his foe leveled at his face Sebastian closes his eyes. To be resigned to your fate was not the mark of a coward, but the mark of a true believer. His energy was drained and he nowhere to go beyond his trip to meet Aon, he hoped his god approved.
A moment later he felt the heat of the flames on his face, but the burning fire did not touch his skin. Instead the same attack that had killed Arpatiko melted the rock alongside his head, for whatever reason this fool had chosen to spare him. Perhaps he thought not committing a second murder would make up for the first one? Hah, what god would see those two cancel out? Coughing some, for his body still fared poorly; the Cardinal wasnt able to remain on his feet, dropping back to the stone. Listening to his words Sebastian couldn’t help but let out a course chuckle.
”Stop it? You think by merely sparing me this war ends? When Invictus is done he will come for the rest of you, there is no salvation for you no, not after what you have done. As for the absence of god here…that only shows how blind you are to this Universe. Those eyes of yours seem unique, yet there is so much they do not see.” If Sebastian had the energy he would rise and continue to fight for his people and his belief, but it was no longer an option. All he could do was speak and even that was a challenge.
”Aon is within those that believe and invisible to those who do not. You see…see no god here because there is none that watches over you.” A few more coughs coming before the blonde settles back down, he was injured but would live should he not get blown to pieces by Invictus’ fury.”Power means nothing without purpose.” Sebastian having nothing further to say to the boy, closes his eyes.

Even in defeat and with mercy given to him Sebastian refused to relent in hatred for the young Muzai. It caused Kuro’s head to fall to his chest. His eyes darkened as the images of everything that he had seen today were all for naught. This had been a pointless fight the two had nearly killed each other because of who they allied themselves with. There was no way that Kurosanai was going to stand down and let his friend be killed. Yet was that a true justification to take someone else’s life? This was the problem that he struggled with now. Sure he could give into his anger and bloodlust and finish Sebastian off after the lack of caring for the mercy given. But that would do little to right the situation.
“If this Invictus does emerge victorious then I will fight him with everything that I have. It is the only thing that I can do. If I die than I did not have a return home in my fate. I will have never seen what Earth was like when they saw me return or how my family reacted. But I cannot turn away now…” Kurosanai trailed off by the end of the sentence. “As for you, no I do not expect this war to stop simply because I spared your life. Mostly because you are too stubborn to realize it, this sparing of your life is meant to show those around you, the hundreds you touch every day, which even despite being submerged in the chaos of war that hope can still survive, the hope for true peace. No, it won’t change your path or probably those closest to you but rather those you don’t know the names to. The little girl that I hoped I saved. Perhaps my one small act of kindness was enough to cause her to turn away from war. I will never know though…”
The prodigy of the Muzai lifted quietly off the ground without so much as turning to the fallen Cardinal. Their battle was done, Sebastian had fallen and Kurosanai survived to fight another day. To his dying breath Sebastian De’Vont would probably wish to remove Kuro’s head from his shoulders but to the young human he only felt sadness. The war between them was pointless.
“You are right about one thing. No god watches over me because if there was one then it is nothing but cruel. Any god that allows such devastation to exist in this world is no holy creature; rather it is only one cruelty and sadness. I wish that the day you meet your god is a joyous one. Good luck Sebastian De’Vont.” Kurosanai spoke genuinely before bursting off back towards the city. The air roared past his ears as the waves broke against the pillars that he briefly fought upon. The planet was beautiful and magnificent from all of the geography to be seen. Just like the potential kindred soul Kurosanai could have had with Sebastian it was a shame that he was brought here under such circumstances. He would have loved to explore the planet more. The place he was going though was anything but peaceful and serene. It was a burning, smoldering grey splotch on the horizon. The city that they landed it now burned and was being destroyed by powers that were beyond his imagination. The devastation that had befallen the city was something that no god would wish upon his people; this had led Kurosanai to state there was no god in this place. It was a statement that he would defend to anyone just as he had done with Sebastian.
It was then that the Cardinal’s words began to sink into his mind. Power was nothing without a purpose. A simple sentence that he had no doubt heard hundreds of times from his family as they trained him to be one of the premier fighters on the face of Earth. Though it was drilled into his head it was not until this mission with the group Prometheus Zex had sent out that he finally had an answer to the statement. The prodigy of the Muzai knew what he was fighting for.
“I will protect everyone I can with my power. Regardless the foe, regardless the odds. I will not let such devastation be experienced again.” Kurosanai stated strongly to himself. His conviction was set and with that his mind, although exhausted, was ready for the next battle ahead. But what lie in store next was anyone’s guess.

Sebastian De’Vont and Kurosanai Muzai saw the world through very different lenses. Both had spent an equal amount of time existing yet their upbringings had shaped them into two very different people. The former was devoted to his Church and his people beyond all else, willing to follow the decrees of Aon no matter their cost. The latter had looked to make his family proud, wished to restore his clan to the glory they had once known. Sebastian had not chosen for Kurosanai and his companions to come to their planet and Kurosanai had not known he would be arriving at the home of the Universal Church of One. Ultimately both had been driven to this point in their life by the actions of others, fate.
Kurosanai would most likely chalk it up to Prometheus Zex and his decision to send them here while Sebastian knew it was all part of Aon’s will. One could not begin to understand the designs of a being such as Aon and it was not anyone’s place to do so. Today the entirety of Mement Mor would find its end and numerous Cardinals with it. For a moment Sebastian had wondered why Aon would allow such a fate to befall his faithful, very much in agreement with Kurosanai’s words, but only for an instant. He knew it had a purpose. Whether it be punishment for Aer Nin’s failure light-years away or to show his people the destructive power of those they sought to destroy so that they might more clearly see their path was just, the blonde could not discern. He had no qualms about dying for his cause, those sentiments shared by his allies.
As Kurosanai began to lift off from the ground Sebastian makes one last remark, but it was destined not to be heard. The resonating boom that rang out across the nearby sea was enough to drown out all other sounds. All that could be seen, if the boy had been looking, was the Cardinal’s lips moving.
All around him the ground shook as the planet began to destabilize. He was unaware of exactly what Invictus had done, but based on how the planet screamed it was far more devastating something catastrophic. Sebastian’s first thoughts were for the people of Mement Mor, hoping they had all escaped safely. As for himself, he was doomed even before the armored Cardinal’s last act. He felt the injuries within him and felt the heat draining from his body into the stone. He was dying as it was. This realization brought him more peace than one might think. As much as he worried what his failure meant in the eyes of Aon he would at the very least get to meet his god. He hoped he would be pleased.

[Arriving from: dragonballawakening.proboards.com/thread/1194/skynet-corruption-saga?page=3&scrollTo=9803 ] The coastal winds bustle as they come into contact with the ferocious gale that manifests from Invictus' final ditch attack. Mement Mor was a beautiful planet. Model Zero had never experienced the joy of a bright blue sky and an endless abyss of an ocean that spanned as far as the eye could see. The line between water and sky blurred at the horizon. It seemed so peaceful, compared to the dark vortex that slowly formed as he gazed over his shoulder to observe the shifting clouds and the bright light emanating from afar. The view served as a reminder that they did not have much time. With saber still in hand, the android glances at Sebastian's beaten and weak body. His power level was gravely diminished. It was ironic really; he saved the Cardinal back in Belegost and then he attempted to dispose of him. It was the sound of his gun which instigated the fight and pushed everyone into an inevitable struggle of life and death. Zero almost scoffed. If such a being as Aon truly existed, how could he abandon his followers so seamlessly. It appeared that the Cardinal of Truth had been fated to die as it was now the third time he was faced with certain death. He still couldn't understand how the human was capable of dodging his initial bullet, but there must have been some kind of interference he was unaware of. Zero approaches the fallen Cardinal and stops just above him. He wondered whether Sebastian could even tell he was standing in front of him. Surely, he must have perceived the android's shadow through his eyelids. Far in the coast of the city remains, nobody would know Zero was there. The android, as well as Ona, could detect anything and anyone with a life-force from miles away and there had been none to witness the android's forthcoming actions. It would be so easy to deal the killing blow and dispose of the human as was his intention -then again, wouldn't he have died regardless of Zero's visit? ... The scientist extends his hand to Model Zero, dropping a small object on his hands. Ivan had prepared the android as much as he could and it was almost time for Zero to go out and meet Prometheus with the rest of the crew that would be accompanying him in their voyage. Zero reached into the bracer on his left arm, where he had stowed away the object when his master had given it to him. "This is a senzu bean," the scientist told him. "If you find yourself in trouble, consume it and return to Alpha Prime. Whatever Zex has in stored is not worth all of the resources we put into your creation. Heed my words Zero. Do not allow yourself to be destroyed." ... Having sheathed his saber, the android held the bean in his hand. Looking it over, it was a small green vegetable with little worth to him. Ivan spoke of it as if it were some kind of holy object, but the android had no need for such trivialities. Kneeling over Sebastian, he grabs the back of the Cardinal's head with one hand to make sure he was aware of the android's presence and hear his words carefully as he uttered them softly in the human's ear. Ona could probably hear him, but that was of no consequence. "Cardinal, Invictus has abandoned you and this planet is now on the verge of destruction. However, Aon is not finished with you," he lied, "if you survive, and if you still wish exact revenge on the saiyans, then seek me out. I'll be in The Omega Collective." That was all. The android lowers the human's head on the ground and presses the senzu bean in Sebastian's hands so he may know it is there. In truth, he doubted that the human would escape the planet alive, but he had been demonstrated numerous times now that fate can be very unpredictable. "Let's test whether your God is true," the android says as he stands over Sebastian. Model Zero gazes out at the ocean one last time, absorbing the sound of the waves as they roll over each other. Sounds he may never experience again as the pressing winds of devastation remind him of the urgency of their situation. Model Zero turns his back without another word and nods at Ona. It was time to make their escape. He had given Sebastian one last fighting chance, it was up to him to make it count. If asked, Zero could not readily explain why he had done what he did. One could say that perhaps Aon himself had expressed his will through the android in a way to communicate with the Cardinal -no doubt, it must be what Sebastian might think as the android provided him with the senzu bean. However, what was really going through Zero's mind was the ugly truth that his master may have been neglecting. Conri Lane and Ninjin Hattori have proven something to Model Zero this day. The saiyans were not only unpredictable, they were powerful - very powerful. The saiyans proved to be so strong that the android no longer thought he could achieve his goal alone. Zero would need allies in his quest if he were to ever fulfill the purpose of his existence. He had Ona now, and perhaps, he may gain another ally if Sebastian were to survive and heed his words. With all that said and done... perhaps... there was another underlying reason for his actions... one whose roots lie beneath the armor to which he was adorned... Finally, unless something impedes it, the android darts towards Mr. Watson's energy signature. The fact that his comrade was still in the same location implied that they may yet escape the planet's destruction. [Exit. PL. Forfeiting my Senzu Bean. The notion of following him had already been realized as a reality in the Cardinals mind. She was leaving with him and whichever of his team that remained alive. The Omega Collective was going to be her new destination and home for the time being. Many factors remained uncertain in this endeavor, but considering what Invictus had just done there were little options left open to the android. Escaping on her own was something that was very possible, yet there was nowhere for her to go, no place with funding like Zero had promised. Her fate for the moment decided by factors beyond her control she takes off after her counterpart, soaring across the sky, wind whipping at her orange locks and tattered cape.
With them not heading towards where his companions seemed to be converging she had to wonder what his intentions might be. Was it possible he had some other means of escape? Sebastian lay ahead, his faint signature near the coastline of the destroyed city. From what she could tell he had lost to the human boy he had tackled from the rooftop. His now low signature not boding well considering the shape the planet was in. What did Zero have to gain by finishing off the boy that had been left to die with the planet? Knowing they didn’t have much time to waste she was curious as to what Zero’s explanation might be for the detour.
An explanation was not needed as her advanced hearing system picks up every one of Zero’s words. This android claimed be but a tool of his masters, yet had extraordinary freedom with his decision making, very similar to that of Ona herself. Offering Sebastian a similar proposal to what had been sent her way she wondered what it was Zero and his masters were truly after. Sure they wanted to eradicate the Saiyan race like the Universal Church of One, but creatures with such goals usually remained puppets of others for long. She had to wonder how powerful this Ivan was, Prometheus Zex a formidable creature himself.
Through the whole scene she says nothing though, only floats in the air as she watches the two. When Zero rose to his feet and took off towards his gathering companions she doesn’t hesitate to follow. The words he had spoken before made perfect sense, she needed to return as a captive, not an ally. If any had seen them fighting and bought their ruse like they should have, an alliance between the two was not plausible. Captivity was a perfectly reasonable explanation for her accompaniment. Still, she had to wonder what this was all about. Zero must have believed his masters were getting the better end of this deal to invite her back with him.
Looking to the leaping android she drops for him, sword still in her right hand as she increases her speed to catch up with his descent from the apex of his jump. Lunging in alongside her the Cardinal thrust out her sword, offering it to him. Next came the shield as she un-straps it from her forearm. “If I am your captive it does not make sense for me to be armed. Keep these in your possession until we arrive in at the Omega Collective.” With her weapons handed off Ona would go silent, expression blank as they approach the rest of the group.

Sebastian lay upon the stone where Kurosanai had left him. Below him the planet was dying, above him the sky swirling and behind him the ocean raged. Resting on cold stone he was the only sole in the area, but yet he was not alone. Those who pledged themselves to Aon were never truly alone. Even as destruction and chaos erupted all around him the Cardinal was at peace. With the only real failure in his life this very recent one, one he hoped might be forgiven, he felt at ease with what he had done. He was young, there was no denying that, but the life he had lived was a full one. How many could say they lived for a cause higher than themselves? Kurosanai Muzai was focused on what his goals were in the same way the Saiyan race was always so focused on themselves. Such selfishness was one of the reason creatures like them needed to be removed from the Universe.
Eyes closed and with the sounds of a doomed planet filling his ears he wasn’t even aware new company had arrived until a hand cupped the back of his head. Slowly blue pools opened to see what he assumed was Kurosanai returning to finish the job he had started. Instead android he had met on the surface of Belegost crouched alongside him. Where in the world had he come from and why was he not trying to flee for his own life? Then he saw the answer. Hovering in the air a short distance away was Ona, she must have commandeered the android and now had him under her control. Invictus and Sebastian had lost, but at least she had been successful in her duties. Looking to Zero the blonde androids words on reinforced the Cardinal’s beliefs. Look for them in the Omega Collective…if he were to survive. The words must have been Ona’s the strange machine girl always having boggled his mind. He was about to ask how he might survive when something was pressed into his hand.
No sooner had the message been delivered did the two androids take off. Arms still thankfully functional it slowly lifts to regard what had been placed in his hand. The small bean between his fingers almost made him laugh. Senzu beans were not something very common on Mement Mor or within the Church as a whole. Of course they knew of them and what they were, but their use was avoided simply for their ties to Earth and the New Vegeta. It was more a point of pride that they did not use something the Saiyan’s also utilized. Aon sure had a sense of humor, didn’t her?
Not one to question the will of his god Sebastian drops the bean into his mouth. The first bite had his body mending and allowing him to take back to the air. A second later he felt as if he had never even been in a fight, never mind two in the last 24 hours. Ona and Zero long gone now, their signatures untraceable the Cardinal turns south. Blasting off at that maximum speed his body was capable of the blonde heads for a spaceport he hoped still housed one workable ship. Aon’s hand had given him the means to live; now he just needed to escape.
