Brandon was sitting at the edge of the lookout, overlooking the land below him. His legs were crossed, and his eyes were shut.
He was meditating... trying to clear his mind so he would know how to take his next steps to become more powerful, and ever closer to becoming the new Guardian of Earth. Sure he wasnt perfect, but no one was. He had friends and Family to protect, and that was why he wanted to become the new Guardian.
That, and Mr.Popo made excellent tea. He didnt know where the other Earth fighters were at that point, but there was a few he had to watch out for. Namely Carla, the reckless girl who put thousands of lives in danger just to show off a new trick she had learned.
He was unaware that Azazel had perished in the big fight he missed, and wasnt sure what happened to Saito, Alexander, or the creepy android that tried to join them. "Brandon, You need to train to get stronger you know..." He heard Verlith say, snapping him out of focus.
"Im meditating Verlith, Its all part of it...." He said with a soft smile.
"Your not meditating, your napping. I know the difference!"

After two days of training with the Fuhrer it was time to return to the lookout. Saito had split his time up between his three training spots and was coming along nicely. Kemuri's blade was plastered on his back, a trophy that he wore with pride. It almost made up for the ghastly scarring on his face, and the eyepatch that covered the empty socket on his right side. He slowly escalated up the side of the tower. He was in no real hurry this morning. He would have seventy two hours to train with Kaladar and Popo, and most of the time the two were not even ready when he arrived. He would sit and chat with Popo while Kaladar did whatever it was he was doing. Actually Saito was begining to think that he was no longer the only student upon the lookout. Though they had never seen each other over the last several weeks, Saito was noticing markings he did not create, and noting the exhaustion that Kaladar was under. Training Saito three days a week certainly wouldn't bring him to such a level of tiredness, so the only other theory was that a new student was on the lookout. Perhaps it was Carla, come back to beg forgiveness and train once more. Saito's disdain for her had lessened as his wounds healed, however her ignorance had cost them all a great deal. Alexander or Carmen could be back on the lookout, however that seemed unlikely as well. It was as though the two of them had disappeared after the battle with Kemuri. The only other individuals whom Saito knew to train under Kaladar were dead.
His curiousity would be put to rest as he reached the top of the tower. His slow ascent would have gone unnoticed, and only a few feet from where he would set foot on the lookout was none other than the young man he had faced prior to Kemuri. The one they had all mourned the passing of, and the one whom had missed the grand battle with Kemuri. Brandon. Kit raised his brow, taking a few steps forward and towards the man who was clearly in a state of meditation, or perhaps slumber. He was sitting up straight, and Saito knew that position well. He was likely at the tail end of a training with the Kami, as this was how Kaladar had Saito end his trainings as well, though he appeared rested.
"Brandon?"
He questioned, making sure the man before him was in fact the same boy he had faced several months ago. They had told him the boy was dead, yet here he sat. Saito lifted his wrist, scratching his chin and noting the heavy weight that was pulling down on it. He had worn these same weights in his last combat with Brandon, and it was becoming clear that soon they would be ineffective in training him. The birds of the lookout had begun fluttering this direction. They always came to greet Kit upon his arrival. There was one inparticular that he liked above all else. It was a bright red robin he had named Della. The bird reminded him greatly of the genie, and on both occasions that he had seen the genie, the bird had been there as well. It was as though the robin was keeping tabs on them. The robin, along with the other birds began to flutter about them, giving them space so as not to crowd them, but making their presence known, excited to see their human friend once more. Soon however Della the robin would take off, her destination unknown to Saito.

Brandon was about to go back to meditating, seeing that arguing with Verlith was pointless. However, a new sound caught his attention... Someone speaking of his name.
It didnt sound like Mr.Popo or Kaladar, so out of curiosity, Brandon turned his head to See the person speaking to him, and said that it was none other then Saito. The last person Brandon was friendly with before his own untimely demise. "Saito? By the gods above, Your alive to?" He asked, as he quickly got up and smiled.
Fully turning to face the other human, He saw that Saito had some wear and tear on his body since the huge fight with Kemuri, but was still alive. It gave him some happiness to know that he was alive and well. "Yes, Saito, It is me. Im glad to see you again my friend." He said, as Saito could see plenty of wear and tear on Brandon. Hes was more muscular since the last time they met. Brandons clothes were also torn, a sign of all teh battles he had since his death in Kemuri's castle. Saito wasnt hte only one with a new sword either, as Brandons Kamacite blade lay on the ground beside where he had been meditating.
"Id gather that you have plenty of questions to ask me since my disappearance from the lookout...."

His mood was unexpectedly chipper. This was nothing less than completely juxtaposed of their last meeting. Saito had been the friendly one in their last encounter. Inquiring to Brandon and getting to know him. Now however it was Saito with the questionably bitter attitude. He looked over the battle worn human, his eye squinted in ponderous query. They had said he was dead. That Della had slain him. Why then was he alive and standing before him? Why had he not been at the battle with Kemuri? He was correct that Saito had many questions for him, but he would not indulge himself with many. He had come here to train with Kaladar and would surely only get himself into a scuffle if he proceeded with conversation. Though his curiosity got the better of him as he replied.
"They said you were dead."
A comment, not a question, though entirely true. Kemuri had laughed about it at their first encounter, and Della had shown...or at least attempted to show remorse for her action of killing him. Yet here he stood, alive and well. Had he faked his own death? He couldn't have been such a coward that he lied about being dead just to avoid the battle with Kemuri. None of this made sense to him. He took a step back when Brandon stepped forward. For a moment it appeared as though the other man was going to give him a hug and that wasn't acceptable. When Brandon stopped, and his physical excitement died a bit, Saito thought on their last encounter. Brandon had been a formidable opponent in terms of Ki use, however his physical combat and endurance were little to non existant. Just by his appearance Kit could tell he was stronger. His muscles finally had a bit of tone to them, and even the way he jumped up to greet Saito had a larger confidence about it. What had happened after their spar?
The robin had left, taking an updrift in the wind and heading swiftly for its destination. The other birds were now perched around them, as if listening to their every word.

Brandon saw that Saito was a bit on edge, and iffy with Brandon. It was quite understandable given the circumstances.
Then Saito said that others had told him that he was dead.
"And they were right, I was dead. And regrettably, that was the result of my foolish actions. You guys were right when it was said that trying to sneak into Kemuri's Castle was a bad idea. I was slain by some woman named...Della...Della... Hell, I cant remember, but thats what her name started with. Her and some guy named Anri. I hardly stood a chance..." He said, as he looked up to the robin that had flown away. The memories of his death still burned in his mind.
He hugged an arm around his own torso where Della had cut him open like a stuffed turkey. He looked a bit disappointed in himself, but then looked back to Saito and said "I can also tell you this.... The afterlife is not what you would expect. Its kinda... odd, to say the least."
His excited, chipper mood had seemingly vanished, as a more serious tone was heard with his next words, "Kemuri is dead right? Who killed him?"

He had been dead!? No, this couldn't be right. Death was final. It was the epilogue to an incredible story. It was the rolling of the credits. Death brought life to full circle and made nature so fantastic and tragic. Brandon stood before him alive as the day they met, and although the slit in his shirt supported his story, and his mention of Della added a certain necessary detail to the story, it was by all accounts reasonable, with the exception of coming back to life. That was unbelievable, unrealistic, preposterous, insane, and most importantly impossible. Was he supposed to believe this wild tale of visiting the afterlife and returning with everything well intact? Was he to believe that all of the wars being fought around the world over God and life and death were all meaningless. Could it even be possible that someone knew the secrets of the afterlife and had failed to share it with the rest of the world?
His admition of poor choices didn't exactly help his case either. Not a single person whom had spoken to Brandon encouraged him to go to Kemuri's fortress. Even after his reported demise Saito felt less sympathy and more outrage over the young man's death. Why had he not listened to them? Why had he chosen to get himself killed? He thought that his own actions were above reproach and that in no way could the outcome be anything but positive. Yet now there they were. Della forced by her obligation to the ring to commit a heinous act, and Brandon slain. Just like Carla too ignorant to listen to Kaladar's advice. Saito's eyelid twitched at the very concept that had Brandon simply stayed behind to help in the final battle, he could have made all the difference. He could have helped Saito obtain the trigger and save the day. He could have convinced Azazel not to slay Anri senselessly. He could have talked some sense into her so that she would not also throw her life away so carelessly. He tried to hold forgiveness, but the dragon's selfishness had cost many people a great many things, including Saito's right eye.
It was impossible to dwell on the what if's. If Brandon wanted Saito to believe he had died and risen from the grave, so be it. He would not be fooled so easily, but why call the boy on his fantasies. Brandon had changed the subject anyone. Kemuri's death still weighed heavily on Saito's consiounce. While it had been the Fuhrer's blade to strike at the beasts chest. It had been Saito's fist to shove it in deeper. Easily Saito could have given all credit to the Fuhrer, but he knew that the responsibility was also his own. Actually it was rather ironic, all of the shame he felt in killing such an evil being. Certainly anyone who knew Kemuri would be impressed at Saito's besting him, but that was not how the warrior felt. He held no pride in his heart for the death of the Hyena.
"Fuhrer Buraddori and I made the final strike. I watched the life fade from his eyes."
He said in a low response, his remaining eye looking up at the clouds for a brief moment of silence. Perhaps silence for the death of his enemy, or perhaps a silence to gather his thoughts. Brandon had truly thrown a curveball into his plans to train peacefully atop the lookout this week. He would however answer any questions Brandon had about the battle. Undoubtedly he was curious, and for the most part Saito knew the elements of what transpired. He knew each of the pairings and their outcomes, and other than specific details on the attacks used or the words exchanged, he knew what the aftermath was of it.

As Saito answered Brandon about Kemuri, He could see in Saito's eyes the pain, and hardship he had to endure that battle. "I see. An unfortunate and tragic event, but a necessary one. Truth be told, If it was me, I would of done the same thing. Though Im curious, Who else survived the battle? I saw Carla on my way back, although someone needs to put her down... Shes threatened thousands of innocent people in central city alone, and just to show off a new technique. I tried to knock her out, but she escaped.... What about Azazel? And Carmen? Are they still alive as well?" He asked, wondering what had happened to both of them.
Although with Azazel, she wouldnt be happy with Brandon when they met again. He had died trying to get her trust, just so he could get the Chaos relic that hung around her neck.
But before Brandon could say another word, a new voice would greet Saito's ears. "Braaandooon! Where are yoooou?" the voice said. Brandon knew exactly who it was.
Summers came out from behind the lookout, looking for him. With a soft smile, he said "Over here. Id like you to meet someone...." as Summers immediatly looked in Brandons direction, smiled, and ran over towards them.
To Saito, Summers would appear to be a small child, wearing some... odd outfit, as well as having a pair of small horns, a spade tail, and a pair of wings. When she arrived close to them, Summers looked up at Saito with a look of Awe that a fangirl would normally have. "Woo, Your cute!" She said, and Brandon gave her a bit of a glare.
"Summers, Behave. Saito is a friend.... Saito? This is Summers... Shes a.... Companion that has been following me around since I came back from the afterlife.... Shes a Succubus."Brandon said, but Summers corrected him by saying "...In-Training!"

Hearing Brandond admit he would have done the same thing almost warranted an eye roll. He kept his sarcastic gesture to himself, but had honestly wanted to reply with it. If Brandon would have done that same thing, he would have been around for the fight. Deciding it was just a poor choice of words on his account, he listened to what the man said about Carla. Saito knew all too well about Carla and what a danger she was. Though her harming other innocent people was certainly not what he had predicted. She had been wild, and rather unpredictable, certainly ignorant, but purposefully dangerous didn't seem the right tone for her. The Dodompa was a legacy. An artifact that was passed down only by the most worthy of the Crane school, and Saito hadn't quite forgiven Kaladar for teaching it to her so soon in her training. Desperate times led him to think that Carla would use that power to fight Kemuri, but that is not what happened.
"The child you speak of is most disturbing. Kaladar taught her that technique in the hope she would use it in the battle against Kemuri. She was paired against a large hairy individual...Bear?...But he surrendered immediately and offered to help slay Kemuri. Carla refused and attacked. She wasted our time, resources, and training. While she learned the secret crane technique, I battled Popo in what was an average spar. Unfortunate the way I see it...I did however knock her out."
That he had. When Della had given him the life saving Senzu, he attempted to gather the forces of Alex, Carmen, and Carla. It only made sense that Brandon would next ask about Carmen and Azazel. Saito knew their fate in battle all too well. His chest hurt at the realization that Brandon had not yet heard the fate of his comrades. He spoke.
"Carmen was a coward. She refused to fight, and left when we needed her most. The same with her friend Alex. Pray I never see them upon this lookout again. Azazel however..."
He paused. Her story was far more tragic.
"...She unlocked the most amazing power. Easy twice as powerful as Kemuri himself. She could have handled him alone. She chose first to fight the alien Anri. Against her own values she did slay him, and then turned her force on Kemuri."
Too bad she hadn't stayed her focus. She decided rather than taking out the demon first, she would challenge the genie Della instead. This fact infuriated Saito beyond words. Her fight with Anri ended quickly, and had she jumped in when it was over Saito would still have an eye. There would be no scar on his knee, and Kemuri would have easily been overpowered by her unweilding might. Instead however....
"The genie Della was on the lookout as well. She too offered to help against Kemuri. Azazel, much like Carla, chose instead to fight the potential ally, and died in the process. She is no more."
He wouldn't have time to explain anything else as a small girl made her way over to them. Brandon introduces her as a succubus, which was rather disturbing considering her prepubescants.
"Right...good morning Summers"

As Brandon listened to Saito as he discussed Carla, Carmen and Alex as well as Azazel.
"Sounds like I was in my right mind to threaten Alex afterall. As for Carmen, Im disappointed she fled. She could of been a valuable Ally." He replied, saddened that such potential allies turned and fled, as well as betray the trust of those who trusted her. If Brandon had known this information before he met Carla again after he came back from Hell, He would of done the world a favour and vaporized her. But his compassion and drive to redeem himself after his past mistakes had allowed her to escape. She was still out there, doing who knows what.
But when Brandon heard that Azazel perished in the final battle, even Saito could see that many of Brandons hopes were suddenly crushed into dust. "SHES DEAD?! THAT MEANS THE CHAOS RELIC IS NO LONGER ON THIS PLANE! PLANS ARE RUINED!" Verlith screamed in Brandons mind, causing teh human boy to stumble and cover his ears on instinct. "Agh, Fuck not so loud!" He said, before everything was silent in his mind again. Brandons nose started to bleed slightly after the intense mental anguish he had experienced.
"Ugh, Sorry... Dont pay me any mind..." He said to Saito, who would probably give Brandon a very confused/worried look.
"Azazel is gone... Fuck, I should of been there... Things would of turned out quite differently... But the past cannot be changed... " he said as Summers smiled up at Saito and Brandon.
With a small bow, Summers replied to Saito "A Fair Morning to you as well Mr.Saito." she said, as Brandon chimed in "No need to worry about Summers. As part of my redemption of my past deeds, Im teaching Summers to NOT be a Succubus, but a productive and responsible member of society." He said, as Summers giggled.
"I love Food! Sooo many tastey things on this world! Chocolate! Ice Cream! Jello! Sushi!" She said, and appear to almost be drooling as she thought of the tastey treats. "Um Summers... Your...Drooling..."
Summers made an eeping sound, and wiped the drool away. "Heh, So Sorry."

Saito was already well aware of Brandon's rather abrupt and random nature. It was not the first time he had trailed off, seemingly talking to himself, and surely it would be the last. A trickle of blood left the mans nose, he was having a tougher time dealing with Azazel's passing than Kit realized. Emotionally he appeared fine, however his body had literally begun to bleed from the news. One thing could be said for the boy. Even if he wasn't the brightest, he was at the very least empathetic. It was obvious to Saito that Brandon was internalizing his role in the devastation that took place here on Earth, which was progress. He explained that his path to redemption started with raising the child that seemed apt to yelling out random blurbs about nothing. As she began to list foods, and subsequently drool over the very idea of being fed, Saito continued to speak to Brandon, almost completely ignoring her.
"So then I can only assume you came to the lookout seeking these very answers. The Earth will need more decisive minds in the coming days, perhaps you should speak to Kaladar. He has a strong grip on what has and will happen."
If Brandon had made it to the lookout again it was possible he was there for training. Saito knew little about what other functions could be served on the lookout so anyone here was obviously out to work on themselves. Brandon seemed to need help in learning strategy, and Kaladar was certainly a fine individual to teach him. Though Saito had much bigger plans in mind. His own training on the Kikoho was going smoothly, and Saito knew any day now a breakthrough would occur. His ability to gather Life Force was already in play, now he simply needed to combine it with his own Ki for an effective attack...Well, not simply. It was a complicated process that he had never attempted before. Though the longer he stood here the less time he had to train himself.
"There is much to be done. The Fuhrer is holding an election here in a few months and I will need to be in pique physical condition if I am to repay his valor. Heaven forbid another ill suited fellow took the position."
Perhaps Brandon had yet to hear of the election. It was possible, word hadn't spread out just yet. Yet another reason to prepare himself. While Saito was still waiting on the bastard Tundra to arrive, Brandon had a list of priorities that Saito didn't know. That was his business so long as it didn't impact the flow of things on the planet. Brandon wasn't dangerous, so long as he kept to himself. He wasn't like Carla, flippantly wasting his talent in trickery and smoke.

As Saito ignored Summers, making her feel sad, and said to Brandon that he should speak to Kaladar about the events that had come to pass, But Brandon had replied "I have already spoken to him actually. Im starting to train under him to become the next Guardian. I made mistakes in the past, And I dont plan to make them ever again. The time I spent away from this place has taught me a few things I lacked when I came to this Era." as he looked from Summers to Saito. What Saito didnt know, is that like Saito himself, Brandon was starting to learn a separate energy force to go along with his Chaos Energy.
When Saito spoke of the election, He was right to assume that Brandon wasnt aware of it, as a confused look went across his face. "The Fuhrer? Thats German for Guide... Thats the guy that Kemuri tried to overthrow right? Then I do agree with you, A worthy person needs to take his place... We cant afford another 'Kemuri' to take his place." He said, as he flexed a fist. Saito could see the muscles in Brandons arm move when he did so. Brandon had come along way from being a chubby Human to a seemingly capable warrior.
"We both need to be in peak condition for whats to come. I was taught that when one Evil is dispelled, another is just waiting to take its place. If your up for a spar, Id be up to see how far you have come along." He said with a smile. He took his shirt off and revealed to Saito that Brandon was wearing weights under his clothing. His body was also scarred from when Dela killed him, as well as the time that Zeke was sparring with him on New Vegeta.
"I must warn you, the outcome might be different this time."He said as he cracked his neck.

Brandon said a good lot. He spoke on the state of things and his role to come in it, though Saito hardly heard him. His mind was transfixed on the words he had spoken first. He was training to become Guardian. It was easy to say that Saito was shocked, more than shocked even. Disturbed. The boy gets himself killed, jeopardizes the small force left defending Earth, leaves indiscriminantly, and wants to become the Guardian? He wants to take Kaladar's place? What made it feel even worse was Saito's knowledge that Kaladar was desperately looking for his replacement. Della has asked Saito if he would be interested in the position, and truly he was not. Being forced to stay atop the lookout would be tough, and he was no where near strong enough to defend the planet from the threats that loomed nearby. Why then did Brandon, someone even weaker than himself, want to take the position. It was Carla all over again.
Before he could come up with the words to voice his protest, Brandon offered to test his skill against Saito for a second time. Their last combat had ended in favor of Saito, though his own Ki had been drained considerably. This time however the fighter drew on a greater pool of the essence, and Brandon appeared to be at least more physically fit. He opened his shirt to reveal what appeared to be weighted gear, and Saito nodded, grabbing his own wrist guards to compare. Brandon appeared to carry most of his weight in one spot. No easy task, but Saito kept his weight spread evenly across his body. This fight would serve to prove which of those methods was better. He nodded, his eyes squinting in frustration. If Brandon wanted a spar, Saito would give it to him, and he wouldn't hold back. His training with the Fuhrer and with Kaladar would be for nothing if Brandon could so easily best him.
He hadn't the words to explain to Brandon what a terrible guardian he would be. The only option he had was to show him. He wouldn't allow this man and his foolish egoism disrupt the already fragile defense of the planet. He couldn't be worried about what choices the all might Kami was making, and with Brandon in charge nothing was certain. He rose both hands up to his face, fists spread a foot a part. His aura had risen with them and was now making an eerie whistle noise as he powered up. A wisp of the wind would bring him to full power without activating his Focus State. He was tired of people like Azazel, and Carla, and Brandon making heroic decisions that were conceived without the slightest of thought. This time he could stop it from the roots. He needed to make it clear that unless Brandon had the force to take the position, he couldn't have it. Saito would be the least of his problems if he should even come to power.
"I hope you are right Brandon, for all of our sakes"

"Nothing is certain when it comes to the future. All we can do is do our best to prepare for it." He said as his own aura flared up. Crimson red flames danced along Brandons frame as he prepared for an intense fight.
He unlatched the sword on his back and let it fall to the ground. Stretching himself out a bit, Brandon would suddenly rush at Saito with a fist ready to go.
To start things off, Brandon would seemingly throw a strong punch towards his gut, but seemingly faked the punch, and used his right leg to send a roundhouse kick towards Saito's head. But Brandon wasnt stupid, and prepared himself the best that he could incase Saito would avoid the kick, or block it, then follow up with a counter attack. He wanted to rove to Saito that Brandon was a changed warrior, and was a possible worthy candidate for the position of Guardian.

Brandon started the fight with physical combat. This in and of itself was new to Saito as the boy had made every attempt in their last combat to hasten a distance from the Crane warrior. Fighting up close had never been Brandon's strong suit, but his moves were more fluid from when they last met. He ran at the warrior, his fist pulling back and ramming forward. Saito prepared his left hand to catch it, his right still up covering his face. When the fist did not make contact, and Brandon paused, Saito wouldn't wait to counter. Brandon anticipated a block or a dodge, but the Crane warrior would do neither. His own leg stepped forward so that the rest of his body could begin moving forward. His left hand that had already attempted to catch his fist now flying forward, his right elbow bending sharply to strike at Brandon's upraised knee. There was far more to martial arts than punching and kicking, the purpose of the attack had to be true, and chaste.
The goal was to hit Brandon simultaniously in two spots, the first was his stomach, the second the side of his knee when had risen to strike Saito in the head. Barring the success of such a brazen move, the warrior would continue forward, though even if his hits missed their mark his onslaught would continue. Kit would reign in his left arm, which had previously been used to strike at Brandon's stomach, and would redirect it to grabbing hold of Brandon's still airborne leg. His right arm would do the same and with a whip of his waist the warrior would use his own momentum to sling Brandon by his leg across the lookout, creating a fair distance from each other. He had done a number of strikes on Brandon in the very few seconds he was near him and would then take a few steps back (especially if he somehow had failed to effectively through him) and focus his energy.
If Brandon focused hard enough, he would be able to see the thin, barely visible, ki covering Saito's body. It was a pale green that shimmered slightly in the light of the encroaching sun. This was Saito's Ki Armor technique, and against Brandon it would be perfect in execution. Kemuri had found the armor no challenge at all. Its ability to absorb small attacks a minor advantage that held no true gain for the warrior. Kemuri was far too powerful for the armor to absorb any damage. Brandon however was proving an equal opponent. Or at least, almost. While their powerlevels were matched now, Saito did not in both his opponents movements, and in the lofty throw of Brandon, that the opposing warrior was not wearing the same caliber weights as Saito. It was no wonder the boy could keep his own with the warrior, he was only half as weighted.

Brnadon wasnt a seasons close combat warrior like Saito was, so he had no time to react to Saitos onslaught of close ranged attacks after his own had failed.
When Saito grabbed his leg and attempted to throw him, Brandon knew that his opponent was using his own weight against him. So when he was thrown, Brandon quickly made his feet land on the look out, and with his momentum, his feet slid on the lookouts surface before he came to a stop. He felt some pain from the other warriors attacks against his stomach and knee, but he could endure the pain easily enough. He was certainly gong to be bruised there, but it was not enough to stop him. Not Even close.
"Heh, Not bad. You have definitely gotten stronger my friend. This is going to be fun." He said, as he would run towards Saito again, seemingly going for a full frontal close combat assault, but as Brandon rushed at Saito, he held out his arms and focused his energy. While he didnt see the Ki Armor that Saito was making, Brandon made several white glowing orbs of freezing energy appear around him.
Brandon was attempting to combine his assault in the hopes of landing a solid hit on him. He made the energy balls storm Saito's Ki Armour, while Brandon suddenly used a new technique that he had not used against Saito before. "YOL-TOOR-SHUL!" He shouted in what seemed like a whole new language to Saito, as a large seemingly continuous torrent of fire burst from Brandons mouth.
