Fujin stood in front of the group of his friends. The people that had helped carry him to the precipice of his power. He had spoken of them in the highest regard and yet there was something that hung in the air around his body. It was combination of two different emotions, a fusion of two states of mind that Kurosanai had seen only a few times before; anger and sadness. Turning back to Kuro he began to speak once again.
“After that battle the local lord saw the potential in our unit. He made the correct decision in giving me the ability to lead. Soon battle after battle armies began to fall to us. The men under my command moved quickly and we struck with incredible force. We would meet people in straight up battle while at the same time keeping cunning ploys within our arsenal. We began to rise through the ranks and soon we found ourselves not in charge of just the unit we were initially given. We were in charge of the entire army.” Fujin stated with an emphatic tone. There was just something that Kuro could not help but admire a little. This was a man that knew exactly what he wanted to do or rather did. That confidence was something that the young man lacked in his life.
“It was at this point that two warriors were hired to try and stop our rise to power. This was not something that our enemies did. Rather by this time there were only the large kingdoms or nations left in the world. These warriors were in fact hired by our very own lord to try and remove us from power. This was when I met Ollpheist; he was very clear about his intention when he showed up on my doorstep. Takamatsu actually ended up tricking him into taking a bet that if I could beat him then he would have to join our group. With a laugh he accepted and after a long fight he finally bent the knee and joined us. It was after that a long friendship would grow and blossom.”
“So you are telling me that he accepted to join your group after being charged with killing you four?” Kuro asked. It seemed preposterous that such a thing could actually happen. But this was only met with laughter from Fujin.
“While it is a bit strange if we use our own method of thinking but Ollpheist was often times very spontaneous and he was also incredibly honor bound to his word. He also took a fancy to Takamatsu for outsmarting him. Though nothing ever happened due to Takamatsu not being interested in ever settling down Ollpheist would forever keep an extra eye on the woman, it was kind of sweet.” Fujin laughed but then his face grew serious. “When I met Longo he was not as forthright as Ollpheist had been. Rather he chose to ambush us knowing that he could not stand on even ground with us. He ended up destroying supplies and equipment and put many lives in danger for what h was actually doing. If it had not been for Pokun’s healing abilities many would have died. When we finally tracked down Longo it was an excruciating battle that was determined by Ananora’s strength in mystic arts. She would curse Longo to follow us as long as we fought for the local lord. Unable to disagree he begrudgingly followed alongside our fight.
And for four years we were able to find peace within the kingdom knowing that for the time no army dared to march against us. They feared the strength of our group and the local lord included himself among the frightened. He would try to conceive political methods and tricks to remove us from power but time and again he would fail. It would not be until one of the other large kingdoms convinced Longo to betray the local lord that things descended into chaos. He realized that the curse only forbid him from fighting us while we fought under the local lord’s banner. With him dead he was free to turn against us as well. The first he attacked was Pokun before leaving for the enemy kingdom. In one night Longo had killed the lord and killed one of my friends…”
At this statement the image of Pokun began to fade away and it only brought pain to Fujin’s eyes. He took a deep breath as even after all of this time he was still in great pain to see his friend depart from this world. “In one night he had declared war.” Fujin’s words hung heavy with anger and only sent a chill down Kurosanai’s spine.
“What did you do?”
“It was only two days later when the dust had settled from the attack. The country teetered on the brink of dissolving as they struggled to find a leader that was worthy. When I arrived and proved that I had survived Longo’s betrayal the leaders unanimously turned to me. My first order was to find Longo and to crush the kingdom that had backed his betrayal. It would take six long months but the day I found Longo was a dark one. We met, we clashed and I made sure that the man never rose again.” Fujin spat. Slowly the visage of Longo faded away until it was no more. The very people that had been around Fujin only seemed to find death. Perhaps Fujin was cursed or it was the god’s way of punishing the man for some perceived slight.
“In the coming months Ollpheist would aid me in conquering the remaining kingdoms. At the end, before the final battle he stated that this was pressing family business off world that he had to attend to. With a smile and a hug I wished him well. It would prove to be the last time I saw Ollpheist however I did hear that he bore a few children to another Akuma. That day brought a smile to my face as he would have made a great father,” The image of the creature that was the most menacing in appearance faded away leaving only the two women behind Fujin. “It would be at this point that we began to press into the other countries and within a few months the kingdoms knelt knowing that doing so would avoid more death. With that I had finally brought Earth back under one banner. It was once again at peace and it was time to take my rightful place on the throne.”
There was a pause in his speech and his eyes settled on the final two women. His fists tightened as his breathing changed. It was subtle but just enough for the prodigy of the Muzai to pick up one. “Is that all?” Kurosanai asked.
“No. What came next made Longo’s betrayal look like child’s play. On my way to Central City to claim the throne for my own I was summoned to a small facility about a half of a day’s car ride from the city. It was there that I was greeted by Takamatsu and Ananora they wanted to show me Takamatsu’s project. It was going to be something that would change the history of Earth. What the revealed was an android, the android’s name was Vector.”
Kurosanai’s eyes went wide. Vector had been the tyrannical android that had ruled over Earth for centuries before the Fuhrer King Burradori overthrew him in the last Great War. To think that Vector had been created by someone that had been so close to the founder of his clan, to someone that had been loyal to his family.
“They confronted me saying that I had become obsessed with power and they feared that the man they once started this journey with. They accused me of becoming what they had fought against and that by using this android they were going to be able to bring about peace through stable rulers for centuries to come not just establish another order of the ancient world. They pleaded for me to step down from my post. When I refused to do so Ananora with a supposed ‘pained’ look on her face cursed me. She cursed me that I would no longer be able use ki in the traditional manners. But just to spite me and make sure my family was never able to fully come close to power the curse would extend to all of my descendants. With this they let loose Vector on me. In my weakened state I was not able to properly defend myself. The man that had brought peace to the world, that had united it under the same banner, had been betrayed by his friends and forced into the shadows.” Fujin cursed as he stared down the image of Ananora. Even though Takamatsu had been the one that had created the android the fact that his childhood best friend had betrayed him seemed to sting more. Kuro could not help but think that the curse was just the icing on the cake.
“While I retreated into the shadows the other two portrayed my sudden withdrawal as my desire to give Earth a peace time leader, unable to defeat Vector in my state I knew that I would have to leave it be. I chose to raise my two sons in the country side where the compound is now. I kept the family name associated with great fighters. Many of whom would go on to join the military, government and just be renowned. In time I would pass on from this world but not before I managed to work out my current abilities to appear to those that bear the Aoiro no Tsuisata.” Waving his hand the two images disappeared instantly and Fujin turned back to Kurosanai.
“I didn’t know…” Kurosanai stammered.
“I know. That was the point of me telling you. Now hurry and get strong enough so that you can actually prove your worth,” Fujin growled before waving his hand and with that the world went dark. The founder of the Muzai wanted to be left alone. It had been a long time since anyone had truly heard the real story of his life. It was enough to cause him to recede within his own mind he just wanted to be left alone. He didn’t want to relive the betrayal anymore.
