Heyo everyone, just posting this as it pops into my head. I was readying through a number of threads tonight and noticed once again he different styles people seem to roleplay with. I myself of course of my own style and am well aware how it works. On that note I figured I would open up the topic of how exactly everyone gets to writing their posts. Of course you don't have to explain yourself, but I figured it might help others to see what some do in order to prepare their posts and you yourself might find it interesting to read what your peers do. I will start with the way I myself put posts together.
When posting I of course first read my previous post and any responses since my last turn so that I can visualize the scene in my head as it would have flowed until that point in time. With those details in mind I then visualize how my character would react to such situations or words and picture what that might look like or sound like. Next I sort of make a mental checklist of what I wanted to happen or have my character do during that post, sort of laying down an outline for what I shall write. Not until all this is done do I start to actually write my post, working my way through my outline I have in my head until I feel I have sufficiently responded to my partners post(s).
Not sure if anyone out there is similar, but thought it would be interesting to how ya'll's minds work when it comes to roleplaying. I look forward to those that respond!!

I just wing it all every time. lol
Nah I read through all the posts prior to me posting, and then I sometimes make a checklist if I know what I want to do. Otherwise I really do just wing it and start typing out stuff that comes to my mind instantly. And I always. Always re-read the previous posts several times. Partially to make sure I don't miss anything and partially because I forget stuff really quickly.. I try to incorporate a lot of my character's thoughts into the post and most of the times the action. I'm not very good with word play and most of the time don't use synonyms and if I do, it's the ones from Microsoft Word and not like Google or anything. I do try to picture whats happening and what might happen when my character did certain stuff, but a picture isn't always there for me.
I thin I'm best when it comes to opening posts, especially if I get to describe the surroundings a lot. I also love to bring in random NPC's from time to time to make my posts a little longer.. lol Also sometimes when I post I contradict myself a lot and constantly backspace to write something new or get rid of something. When I'm into intense posts (Mostly solo's because I get to control everything..lol)I try to leave each paragraph off with like a shocker or intense moment, although sometimes I do this so I can start off a speech line. I also put every speaking line into colors because color is nice lol. Sometimes I'm erratic with my posting, and yet sometimes I'm like..always the same. Always using the same words and such because my vocab is very small and it only grows when I learn a new word and constantly use it, otherwise I quickly forget it....but yea..I think that's it..I won't help anyone at all with this.. lol

I never put any thought in "how" i went about posting, really.
I usually start by finding the topic and reading the others response(s) to my post, and try to memorize the things said and the details as best I can. I always re-check below the response area to make sure I don't miss things.
Also, I usually go into a response without even wanting to write at all. But the inspiration just comes seemingly from nowhere and it kind of flows, and in knowing that, I start my post and end with something I'm satisfied with. I tend to miss a few points and lack description mostly because I over focus on my checklist. My character also tends to talk more then I'd like, and I'm a chronic user of the comma and the tripple-dot (...) as a kind of pause between words for various reasons like confusion, thought, or surprise.
Also, my character is a dark one, yet I try to twist in some humor here and there. In all, most comes to me on the spot, and I loose my drive if someone interrupts me, bothers me, or something like that.
So, yeah. That's my slur of nonsense to explain the chaos in my mind.

1. Music for me is a must, unless it's after midnight. Then I just don't want to wake up my family. 2. Read my post then the previous post, kinda pick out what actually happened that my character could notice 3. Think of reactions I would do in my character's shoes, not necessarily my character would. 4. Think about my character's personality and how he thinks and apply that to the choices he makes. Also, if I have an end goal in mind (spars with Aka and Nin I wanted Leke to lose, but not fail completely) I will factor that in as well 5. If I really care about the post, I'll make an outline then detail it from there; Otherwise, just start typing. If I think of anything witty or cool spontaneously, then I will rack my brain to figure out how to fit it in there (see my BP. The last paragraph lead up to me wanting to say the topic name at the very end and have it make sense). 6. Get distracted midway through the first few paragraphs completely on accident, then come back to it and finish the post in like 30 minutes

Fun fact: Leke is the character that I've actually put the most thought into ever... Mainly because of the rich relationships he has with the family and all. And the wide-open window for a history I can develop on the fly instead of having to think of it when I created him. Easy to put in his emotions and relate to his history or family because its just such a big part of his life, as he's young.

When it comes to me and posting, I don't usually make a checklist of "okay, i need to hit this, this, and this."
I usually read the response right away and if I have the perfect idea and the time, i write it up right then and there. If I don't, I usually read it over a few times and as I go through my day, I let it unfold. More like a movie or comic though than a book. I also have to have absolute silence. No music, no tv, and I can't talk with people or have them talk with me, it really breaks my concentration. If I'm having a hard time with a response, i'll listen to music first. Lately with Adrien my playlist has been Digital Dagger's The Devil Within and Mr Ms's Bones and salty Sweet.
