It was a normal night at first. Zeke was off on the outer edges of the moon, hanging around a completely different town. He was here because he had been getting strange feelings from the general direction lately. Whenever Zeke closed his eyes and concentrated, it seemed as if he could feel people. He could tell how far away they were and how powerful they were as well. He came to Crater Town to investigate multiple spikes of this feeling clustered all in one place.
Walking into the local pub, Zeke looked for the bartender. From knowing Kazu, he knew the man behind any bar always knew the most about what went on in town. Zeke took a seat, equivalent to the one he took back home and signaled the man over.
"Haven't seen you around before." the older man said, cleaning a mug. "Traveler from the City, right? Here on business?" The man poured Zeke a draft.
Zeke accepted the glass. "You'll tell me that there's not alot that goes on around here, its a quiet place, and business is the usual real reason for anyone new to show up." Zeke took a drink. "Kazu Respsdos is a close friend of mine. He told me about Crater Town, recommended this place. They call you Old Jack, right?"
The old man nodded. "All is true, yep. Been some activity near the old armor factory, though. Sheriff went to check it out, but never came back. Townspeople were planning to call in the City Guard." He explained, cleaning another glass that Zeke hadn't even noticed the man obtain.
Zeke nodded. "You can, or you could let me handle it. My name is Ezekiel NeCross." He explained.
The man raised his eyebrows. "Ahhh yes, the man who defeated Prince Ninjin in the tournament and then forfeited. The press had a field day for that, especially when you had no comment. Why did you do it?" He asked, curious as nobody outside a select few had gotten the story.
Zeke took another drink. "I wasn't mentally stable enough to compete, in my opinion. I was focused on eliminating a target, not defeating an opponent. I left so nobody would die." Zeke explained. He cupped the mug in both hands and looked at his reflection. "I was trained as a killer, not a warrior like Ninjin. I... envy him and his ability."
The bartender nodded. "I see. but you know, there's always room to improve and you can always learn more." The man watched Zeke finish his drink before he payed the man, and headed off towards the three tall smoke stacks in the distance.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
He dropped down onto what was once the parking lot of the old Armor Factory. The ground was littered with craters and other damage as Zeke made out the uniforms of the towns Sheriff and three deputies. Somebody was in there and they were clearly up to something bad. Zeke was analyzing the situation when a black and green flash came out of the corner of his eye and slammed a foot to his chin.
Zeke flew back and slammed a hand into the ground, flipping up and onto his feet. Before him was a Namekian, a warrior class one in a black gi with a matching cape wit white trim. He wore a white sash and his shoulders were not the weighted type at all. He looked at Zeke with a glare, standing in battle stance.
"Where is it!?"
Zeke sighed. He seen where this was going. "I'm not the enemy, and I don't even know what this 'it' is yet." He said, attempting to defuse the situation before the man attacked him on blind assumption that he had something he wanted.
It didn't work. The man swooped in with a fury of blows. Zeke began to block and dodge, throwing a few back at the man. This continued until the Namekian locked up with Zeke. He whipped his body around and slammed Zeke into the ground.
"It's hidden inside, isn't it!" he roared, firing off a spiral shaped blast of energy. Zeke's eyes widened, his Overdrive exploding and launching him high into the air in evasion. Zeke drew his sword and dropped.
"Hells End!"
He drove the sword down through the mans chest and out his back, his foot colliding with his shoulder just before he shoved him into the ground. This was done with such speed and impact that the ground spider cracked into a crater as the signature sound of crashing metal rang out loudly along with a flash of light.
The man was wide eyed as a black winged, black haired Death creature stood over him with those bright white eyes. Zeke withdrew his blade and began to walk away, letting the man live. He wanted to investigate the factory... something odd was up.
He heard the footsteps. The Namekian had jumped up and charged at Zeke again! "I can't go down that easy! I cant let you take it again!" he roared in determination, throwing out a charged Ki punch.
"Blazing Puuunch!"
Zeke whipped around and drew the sword in one motion, bringing it up across as the Namekian jumped with his arm drawn back. Before he could land the blow however, the blade hit its mark and the man spiraled off to the same place he'd fallen before.
This time he was minus an arm. And Zeke thought sure he'd heard the words blazing punch?
"Stay down. Next time your life will not be spared." He ordered.
Zeke caried on, blasting the front doors open as he walked through the dust. Strangely there was an object sitting in a device in the center of the room, surrounded by computers. It was dark and nobody was around. Zeke cautiously walked in, looking at the glowing object. When he came closer to it, he noted a large transparent orange ball with four solid red star like stones inside it. He had no idea what it was, but it seemed important. It looked like someone had been experimenting on it.
Zeke took the object with his Telekinesis and ripped it free. What was this? Why did he feel compelled to take it? He thought for a moment and then began to walk out. It almost seemed too easy right now, this thing would be guarded by more than that one guy, right? He thought until a yellow spiral beam came from nowhere again and slammed into him. He held onto the object as he crashed through a wall and outside, hitting a shipping container before he landed on the ground.
What a powerful technique! Zeke got up, shaking his head as he noticed the huge gash in his ribs. It was like the beam had tried to drill its way through his body! Zeke staggered back up as the green man landed in front of him again...
He had both arms.
"I cut that arm off! Or... you're another one?" He asked.
The man smiled. "We Namekians can regenerate our limbs if given a few moments. Now that object... Hand it over! It belongs to us!"
Zeke spat out blood. "Us? You're alone. If it's worth you experimenting on it without any sign of the Royal or City guard, I can only assume you're up to no good. The dead Sheriff doesn't help your case either." He said. He telekineticly held the ball behind him as he readied his blade for battle.
"Woa now, you work for the Saiyans? And you think I'm exper-"
There was an explosion as Zeke dodged a blast that hit the container next to him. Zeke and the other man turned to see a man. Blonde long hair tied back... rectangular glasses... a white and gold robe. He still wielded a two handed greatsword and that damn book of his.
"Aaaaah it's been a while, Angel of Death. How's the whore doing? I'm surprised she has not followed you here. And I see you have met the Slug, Nahlin." The man smiled. It was Bishop Weiss of the Church of One... the first and only person on the moon that Zeke has lost a fight to. Weiss smiled. "Do you remember me? Do you remember leaving me stranded, pinned to a wall? Do you have any idea HOW LONG I WAS LEFT THERE!?"
He threw a hand out, a golden rune spawning and releasing a huge blast of golden electrical energy. It seemed like his idea of Ki was converted into blasts of lightning when fired through the rune. Not good, Zeke's blade was like a huge lightning rod. Zeke had to keep it sheathed if he hoped to evade such blasts.
Zeke jumped out of the way, closer to the Namekian, apparently known as Nahlin. "So, you know this psycho too, then?" He asked Zeke.
"Yes. He almost killed me once. Now he plans to finish it."
"And take the Orb you have. I'm not your enemy if you too are an enemy to this man. I will need that Orb back, it belongs to my people and my planet. It is of the greatest importance that I retrieve it." Nahlin looked Zeke in the eyes.
Zeke looked back, telepathicly searching his feelings. His energy felt right as well... Zeke nodded. "I believe you, Nahlin. Take it then, return home. I will eliminate this man." Zeke said, turning the orb over to Nahlin.
Weiss stood with a hand on his hip. He smiled. "Ah how touching. Poor slug, I planned to allow you to live... but I can not allow you to commit the sin of aiding such a blasphemer as this Saiyan! You too shall feel... Aon's... Wrath!"
The ground shook as the man powered up to his maximum. Zeke couldn't believe it! he was stronger in energy than Zeke's own! He gritted his teeth. He wasn't going to get beaten by this guy a second time! No damn way!
The man's aura shawn golden as he slowly took the sword from his back. "I know not why I have not made the rank of Cardinal yet. Aon doubts me... he will not once I end you, Angel of death! You and your little slug too!" He charged forward, aiming for Nahlin. Zeke drew his blade in a flash and jumped between them, the two blades clashing.
"Run, Nahlin!" Zeke yelled.
"How noble. Go ahead, run away. You will not get far, I will find you after this so-called Death Dealer is dealt with." He smiled a sadistic grin.
Nahlin jumped back, then took to flight. Zeke shoved Weiss back, lashing out a diagonal slash that the Bishop blocked. The two then erupted into a major clashing of blades, a furry of swipes aimed to block and maim. Nahlin watched. He closed his eyes... it wouldn't be right to just abandon the man now, not after he was so quick to return the orb. He put too fingers to his head and focused a flashing bit of energy. He would need about two minuets. Why not five? Cause he was just that good.
Duh duh duu-duh, dum dum dee doo, I'm char-ging my attack...
Zeke clashed blows with the Bishop over and over, eventually side stepping a thrust and throwing in a knee strike and a punch to the jugular out of nowhere. He had picked up a couple tricks about hand-to-hand combat from Akassa, Nasu and others he had fought.
Weiss stumbled back, raising a hand as the rune appeared again. Zeke cursed and sheathed his blade quickly to avoid drawing the lightning as he tried to evade. It didn't matter. Zeke took the electricity at full power, as it's speed was just too much. The energy hit him and carried throughout his body, attacking his nerves. It lasted a moment or two, Zeke resisted the urge to scream out. Afterwards he was left numb, but still stood.
Weiss smiled. "Ah, so you can withstand my attacks? Well then, I will have to unleash my full power! You're going to love this, Angel of Death." Weiss grinned a menicing grin, throwing both hands out as a golden rune appeared under him and surrounded him in shining light. His own eyes turned bright white as well, two white wings shooting from his back. Then, he floated there, taking the blade in hand with a thin golden glow around his body. "Behold, the Archangel transformation! A highly sought after form in the Church of One... I have mastered it. And now you shall be purified in holy light!"
Zeke gritted his teeth. "It doesn't matter how light, holy and angelic you appear. You are still just a demon with white wings!" He sprung up, colliding with the man by ramming his shoulder into his abdomen. Weiss brought up a knee and brought down an elbow before pushing Zeke off and attempting a lunge with the Greatsword. Zeke took the blows, barely able to get past the blade. A small cut was made across his shoulder. Zeke turned and brought his own sword down, Weiss evading it like a pro and appearing behind Zeke with a slash to the back.
He let out a yell before he collided with the ground below. Weiss laughed. "You can not defeat a true angel. My power is far beyond your-"
"SPECIAL BEAM CANNON!"
"-What... who is... Oh shi--!" Weiss seen Nahlin above them just after the spiral beam was fired again. Normally, even for a blast of this teir, it wasn't enough to take on Zeke, let aloe Weiss. But Nahlin had quite the charge on it, and really good aim. The blast tore clean through Weiss' right shoulder, causing his body to recoil from the blast. He nearly spun around.
He was dumbfounded. "What... you... you have GOT TO BE KIDDING ME! The same... the VERY same shoulder as LAST TIME!" He grabbed the wound as Zeke below picked himself up. Weiss noted the movement and pointed his sword at Zeke. Suddenly the sword glowed white on the end and energy covered it. It widened to about two feet and lengthened out to about fifty!
"Die, dark angel! FINAL JUDGEMENT!" He roared the words, bringing the huge energy blade down at Zeke. It tore through the air, slamming into the ground where Zeke stood. He had thrown his arms up and used his Overdrive again. He held against the attack, but it felt like it was gutting through his arms!
Weiss laughed. Zeke closed his eyes... he couldn't loose to this guy again. He could not die here! Zeke's eyes glowed with energy, the ground shook as white electricity seemed to draw into his closed eyes. He didn't want to resort to this attack... but Weiss left him no choice.
His eyes opened. Out of them erupted two beams of black energy with a white outer glow, making a terrifying sound upon release. The energy ripped violently up Weiss' energy blade before cutting across his chest. Then after a split moment, the entire path that the beam traveled exploded in a blinding light. Zeke's eyes closed as he stumbled back and fell over.
------------------------------------------------------------
Things went quiet for a few minuets. Zeke didn't know what was happening around him... he could only see darkness. His eyes hurt... he had blinded himself and used up most of his energy. He waited for a bit longer, recovering. Then slowly, his sight returned to him and he sat up. Where was Weiss? Dead? Zeke didn't know for sure... he seemed to have vanished.
Nahlin was walking over to Zeke, looking in bad shape. "I just dug my way out of some rubble. What was that?"
Zeke looked down. "A technique my father created. The Shadow Chaos Beam. It is incredibly powerful, but improper training will leave the user weakened and blind for a little while. The last time I used it, I nearly burned my eyes out of my own head." He explained.
Nahlin looked down on Zeke, then outstretched a hand. "Imagine one day controlling such power..." he said.
Zeke nodded. "One day." he took the green mans hand and got up. The man did not let go right away though; instead a golden light shawn from the clasp and Zeke felt a soothing energy flow up his arm ant throughout his body. He began to feel energised again and the pain faded.
"That... is amazing, Nahlin." he told the man. Then he smiled and shook his hand once. "My name is Ezekiel NeCross. Your techniques... they interest me greatly."
The man smiled, letting Zeke's hand go. "I learned from the masters of Namek. There are two... the Warrior master and the Healing master. Most Namekians stick to either one or the other and any who carry over to learn both are seen as greedy. I however wished to learn both to better serve the Guru, our leader."
This made Zeke think... Master Masamune had also mentioned this Namek as well. "I will have to come visit your planet then. It seems there is much to learn there."
Nahlin nodded. He held up the orange orb. "We have many powerful techniques. Some are even legend... they say to train under the Guru himself can make a man more powerful than you can imagine! I want to train with him so badly... I hope recovering the Drag- I mean this Artifact will please him enough."
Crossing his arms, Zeke nodded with a smile. "Well I hope you get your wish, Nahlin. Though if you do gain such power you must be prepared to control it. Know your limits... I for one will not be using that last technique again for some time. I can not control it."
The Namekian sighed. "Yes, the other masters tell me the same thing. They don't believe I'm ready for the Guru's training. But I know I am! And who knows, maybe you will be one day! Then you can use that attack all the time."
All the time? Zeke looked away. The Shadow Chaos Beam was too destructive, even with control. If Zeke went to Namek, he would need to be very sure of himself before even facing this Guru. If he became too powerful, Zeke feared loosing control of his whole being... Maybe he'd skip that training session completely.
"Maybe. If I go to Namek, I'll be sure to find you at least. I do have to be on my way..." Zeke said, telekineticly calling Muramasa back to him.
Nahlin put a hand up. "Wait!" He said, reaching into his Gi and pulling out an envelope. "Our people have little use for the currency you call Zeni. I'm very sure the Guru will not mind me giving you what I have here."
Zeke shook his head. "I do not need your money."
Nahlin insisted. "Understand... we don't buy things often. With most we will trade resources for resources. Favors, objects, anything. This even applies to our global trade. Money plays almost no part in our lives. And also... you may never know just how important this Artifact is to our people. Literally... no idea the magnitude of horror it would cause us to loose it."
Zeke looked at Nahlin. It would be rude not to accept if he insisted so heavily... Zeke was not much for needing many things either. Money was worthless to him just as it was to this mans people. Zeke simply traded his efforts as a bouncer and debt collector off to Kazu for drinks and a bed at this point, they were past the money stuff.
And to think, he had a couple bundled in his top drawer already. What could he do with all of it?
"Thank you, Nahlin. But you never know what you may need it for. Please, keep it for yourself and your people." he said with a smile.
The Namekian was surprised... Zeke wouldn't take the money. He placed it back in his Gi and nodded with a smile in return, then turned and walked off towards the nearest roadway where he would make his journey back to planet Namek.
