It had occurred to Saito that after a few months of aimless walking and traveling, it may possibly be more difficult to compete in a martial arts tournament when there wasn't one to begin with. Certainly their had been in the past, but the WMAT had long since been out of commission. So the first reason his family had never truly been allowed to compete was because the organization stopped providing the tournaments. This seemingly insurmountable problem brought a sense of humiliation to the boy whom had left adamant about his belief that he would reunite his family with the organization itself. Something that was now impossible. Finally, after days of restless travel, Saito had found refuge in a fairly large city the likes of which he had never seen before. Of course he had been home at the dojo a few times. But he needed a break from both the arduous labor that it provided, and the travel that he had only just ended.
The lights flashed heavily against his virgin eyes, as machine and man worked hand in hand to further their experience. The cooperation of so many people in such a confined space was rather impressive. Saito stood several inches above even the tallest man on the street. Being 6'11 had always been an advantage that in combat seemed to serve him well. Here it just reminded everyone that he was brand new to the city. His light tunic and cotton woven leggings did not exactly fit in with the specific fashions of those around him. The sensation of the city was overwhelming and even as he considered his next step he found it impossible to think. The buzzing of cars, the yelling, and to his surprise the crying. Was this the world his father sought to protect him from?
His throat was sore from walking with little hydration, and so when a brightly colored sign labeled "The Watering Hol" came into view Saito had but two questions. What the hell was a Hol (as the sign was clearly missing the E at the end) and why would a watering hole be located within a large city like this. Manuevering gently through the crowd Saito eventually made it to the door. His senses would be overwhelmed the moment the entrance opened up. Smoke attacked his nose and mouth almost causing his gag reflex to take effect. His eyes were suddenly peering into a room absent light, and he could hear numerous men yelling at him to "Shut the damn door!". He complied, not wanting to anger the local warriors. Aimlessly looking around for a moment it occurred to Saito that all the men were sitting down, and so he found a seat up on the bar. The man working behind the counter hadn't quite taken notice and so it would be difficult to actually order a drink of any kind.
Unlike the men around him, Saito would wait patiently and read the signs around him. There was talk of an imminent battle, but that didn't peek his interests even slightly. Saito wasn't a soldier, he was a protector of his own rite. A soldier followed the rite of someone else regardless of if it was truly the best choice. The idea actually sickened Saito to the point that he found his voice, wanting to grab a quick drink and leave.
"Excuse me"
He said not getting an answer for almost a full minute. A more aggressive man might have yelled it again or even gotten upset that he had been ignored. Saito however had planted a seed, one that would eventually come over to give him a drink. And he was right. The bartender leaned over and looked Saito over from his abdomin up to his unkempt blonde hair.
"Oh yeah, you want a drink don'tcha?"
The question seemed a little redundant considering where Saito had entered. But he played along nodding his head. He watched as the man took out a small glass, not much larger than a thimbal, and pour the murkey brown water into it.
"Enjoy! Thats the best shit in the house!"
Really? This town was in pretty poor shape if the mans words were true. Brown water? That meant there was such a high demand that purification wasn't possible, and to serve it in such small quantities...Well now he just felt rude for judging the small glass. He understood now was not the time to be selfish. These people needed assistance. If anything Saito should have left right then to gather additional water for them. But first a quick drink.
"Pfft"
After drinking all of what was in the glass in a single gulp, the burly fighter nearly fell off of his bar stool. That had not been water he was drinking and now he was painfully aware of it. Perhaps a hol was a place that animals went to die because this water was in genuine need of purification in even the slightest form. After coughing for a few moments the bartender began to speak. He apologized for giving Saito something too strong and laughed about the idea that a big man such as Saito was incapable of handling his whiskey.
Whiskey?
Whiskey!?
"You son of Satan"
He coughed, suddenly understanding that he had in fact been poisoned. He knew of whiskey and other alcoholic beverages thanks to his father, and he knew even better not to consume it.
"I ask for water you give me this swill. I should challenge you to competition now and redeem my honor!"
The bartender laughed for a moment, thinking Saito to be a jokester. Yet when a few moments past and Saito had not moved from his spot a sort of fear entered the bartenders eyes. Saito after all was the largest man in the room. He didn't even know the level of martial arts commitment under his belt, so it was even more impressive that he immediately stood down, quickly pouring a much clearer liquid into a much taller cup.
"Sorry mate, though you were looking for a buzz"
Ignoring his comment and sitting back down at the bar, Saito took a sip of his water.
It now tasted like cigarette ash.
Damn
(There is an open seat next to Saito, feel free to join in!)

The days seemed to be running into each other, each less memorable than the last. From the time Tenshi got home, to leaving the next morning, sleep seemed useless, as the second she closed her eyes it seemed she was opening them up again. She had no ambition, no drive, not since that night...
Just thinking about it caused her eyes to clench shut and her teeth to grind. 'No, no no!' She yelled at herself in her head, grasping her head through her thick golden hair. Throwing her body on the ground, her naked body, rolling on the floor, trying so hard to forget. And as if it hadn't happened, she'd stop, eyes wide, pupils dilated. She'd sit up, get to her feet, dress, and go about her day like normal.
This had been happening for seven days now.
Tenshi's life was in a rut. It was time to go out, face her problems, deal with things the proper way. To consult a medical professional, that was the way to go. Today, she dressed in a purple button up, and black jeans. She'd mastered her bony armor to retract to a near dismiss-able state, almost non existent. With points on her elbows, knees, back of the neck and head, mid back hard and slightly rounded, those were the only evidence that she even had natural armor. Otherwise, everything was her ordinary second fleshy skin.
Making her way downtown, walking along streets, passing so many lonely people, so many unhappy people. The sky with its dark grey clouds was not helping either. A light drizzle began, and the clouds seemed to condense. Ever endless, the sky was infinite, eternal. No matter how much the clouds moved, there was always more to take its place. The rain came down harder, plastering Tenshi's clothes to her skin, and her hair to her face. The ambiance was beginning to match her mood.
Finally, she arrived at her destination. On the left side of the street, a psychological clinic. It was about time that she'd gone to one. And yet...across the street, an old, run down looking building. It was clearly called "The Watering Hole", although over the years, the last e had rubbed off of the rickety sign. Tenshi looked left, then right, then left again. She stood there, rain cascading over her naked-feeling body, water weighing down her feathery wings. Left, then right, right, then left. Finally, she had made her decision.
Pushing open the door, she was met with hisses, yells, a dark, dank smell. No artificial light, even in here the ceiling was covered in clouds. She quickly closed the door back behind her, giving her eyes time to adjust, before walking timidly to the bar. There was a seat open, next to an overly tall man, with hair as yellow as the sun. She took that seat, not bothering to ask for permission. In a place like this, it wouldn't have mattered one way or the other.
Each minute darkened the Valkyrie's broody mood.
She sat in silence, approached by what could only be the bar keep. A smelly, fat man, balding, and dirty. Like all bar keepers everywhere, he had a dirty glass in his hand, being wiped down by an equally disgusting rag. Glasses here were never clean; rather the dirt got moved around some before the next person got to use the cup.
"And what can I get you, miss?" His gravelly tone made a mark on Tenshi's ears.
"Hm, Let's see what's good here, but that depends on what your problems are. If you're depressed and don't know what to do with yourself, then any old shit will do, although buying an expensive wine typically cheers me up, though in this heap that'd be hard to find, and you don't want anything just lying around. Just looking to consume, you don't waste your money on anything expensive. It tastes better, but you can get more for cheap. To just get wasted, absinthe is usually your best bet, but you'll have to be somewhere classy. Medicinal...I'd try some Melatonin, but there's no way in hell you serve that here. Drinks...it depends on what you want. If you're looking for a nice sleep, something soft but strong, possibly peppermint schnapps, or spanish brandy. Mix some hot chocolate in there and you've got a helluva drink. But if you don't care, and just want sleep, straight up whiskey'll do it for you."
Tenshi was speaking quietly, but by now the entire bar had gone silent. This was near heresy, the words escaping her lips, but it was almost like she couldn't even control herself. She was hardly thinking, the words coming unbidden to her mouth. In a spontaneous flash of anger, her power level spiked, a white aura flaring around her. She looked up, eyes stony and wild. "In the case of now, I want to forget. Whatever you've got that's the strongest, bring it forward."
She would allow her rage to settle momentarily, keeping her wits about her. 'What the hell was that all about? What came over me?' Her eyes kept a close watch on those around her, ready for anything.

As the bar tender slowly poured the back alley whiskey into another small shot glass, Saito took notice. His throat was still on fire from when he had taken a drink of the bastards fire water. Just as the beautiful woman was reaching for the cup, Saito's hand came and met hers. Perhaps that was too forward, but living with his brothers and sisters had made him rather ignorant to social protocol. He stopped her hand just as it was about to reach for the small glass and quickly commented on it.
"Are you certain you understand what that is. This man has a cruel sense of humor"
He hadn't meant to harm Tenshi, his grip was light and easy enough to break out of. Once he had finished speaking his fingers released the back of her hand and returned to his gloomy shadow on the bar. The hopelessness of his task was ever present and now more than ever it was sinking in that he couldn't go home again. If he had only listened to his father and stayed put he could be enjoying some of his mothers excellent dumplings. But no, Kit knew everything it seemed.
He was so wrapped up in his own drama he had hardly noticed that the girl he was holding onto was in fact truly beautiful. Her long seemingly golden hair was complemented by her lightly tanned yet purely white skin. In reality this had been the girl Saito had always imagined in his readings, and it certainly didn't help that she was clothed so scantily. Yet his mind was cluttered by the choices he had made, and even the site of a voluptuous woman wasn't enough to rip him from his self loathing.

Tenshi moved her hand, fingers brushing against the rough wooden counter top. Almost to her glass, her hand was met with resistance.
"Are you certain you understand what that is. This man has a cruel sense of humor."
The Valkyrie turned towards the owner of the voice and the hand, as it was retracted. It was the tall man she'd sat beside. She took in his face, gaunt, blue eyes, scruff on his cheeks and chin. He clearly meant well, but Tenshi was in no kind demeanor.
"I should hope that what he gives me is what I ask. The strongest drink he's got." The second sentence was directed towards the bartender, and spoken more loudly. She kept her face forward, vacant gray eyes staring at nothing, as she spoke again to the man beside her. "Whatever it takes to forget..."
Remembering her drink, she reached for it. A tiny glass, with a murky substance inside. 'Well, here's hoping...' She picked up, and sniffed at it, a big mistake. The stench of it made her eyes water, and her vision waver. Her face pinched, and she realised that the entire bar had once again gone quiet, save for a small snigger in the back. 'This is clearly a test...they think a woman cannot handle their own drink.' With iron grit and resolve that could shake the foundations of a well-structured mountain, Tenshi's hand gripping the small glass gripped tight, and she lifted it again to her lips. Tilting her head back, she let the cool glass touch her lips, a small reprieve for the burn she was about to receive. She tilted the glass, and the liquid began trickling down her throat.
It was all she could do from coughing.
Quickly upending the alcohol, she swallowed, choked down a gag, and the let the fires burning hotter than hell sear her insides. Her face showed no emotions whatsoever, with her eyes closed. She waited a few seconds, before slamming the glass back on the counter-top, with a clear 'tonk'.
"Reload."

Alcoholism.
He thought
It was certainly a quality of those around him. Men slumped over tables, and of course the woman beside him downing the liquor as though it were going out of style. In Kit's case it already was. It was a shame that such a beautiful woman was degrading her body in both the scant clothing on her body and the liquid going inside of her. Saito was reminded of the weekly purges his sisters would take. These purges consisted primarily of a vegetable drink and meditation. While Saito wasn't certain he believed this was held directly after menstruation as a form of quick and healthy recovery. It occurred to him that the woman to his left would have benefited from such a beverage now. At least he thought as much.
"Drinking to forget is pathetic"
He said very candidly. Again saying something that had intended to be a positive deterent and instead appeared to be an insult. Frankly even though he hadn't intended it to be harsh, he wouldn't have taken it back. He was always very open with his father when he drank, and it didn't do anyone any good to continue living a life of pathetic squalor. Taking another sip of the ash tray he was calling water Kit decided it was time to leave. He wasn't getting anywhere sitting in a bar. There had to be someplace more productive than this dump. Looking over to the woman he had unintentionally but undoubtedly insulted he left parting words.
"Why not get up and do something about it. That glass won't help you when the past rears its ugly head and all thats left to find is a pathetic mess."
He turned around before replying with one last comment.
"You're too strong to let that overcome you"
He didn't actually know the woman, but he genuinly believed that about every person he came in contact with. Human beings (Although she was not one of him, of that he was unaware) were a strong and resilient race. Each person he met had brought him closer to the man he had always wanted to be, and this woman too possessed such a strength. Unfortunately people like his father gave in to their temptation rather than taking action. Saito wouldn't fall prey to that.

(('Today, she dressed in a purple button up, and black jeans.' I did put that in my first reply Not scantily clad)) "Drinking to forget is pathetic." The words slipped from her neighbours lips, just as obtrusive as when he'd last spoken. Tenshi put down her glass, turning towards him, fire in her eyes matching the burn inside her stomach. "Who the hell are you to call me pathetic? Are you trying to start a fight?" The blond man had stood up, and a trace of fear was there, and gone from Tenshi's glare, backed by her fuzzy thoughts that she was in the right. If he wanted to fight, then she wasn't going to back down. He would soon learn that you can't judge a person by their appearance in strength. She may not look it, but she was quite well-muscled. As she prepared herself to stand up if he made to swing, the man spoke something else. "Why not get up and do something about it. That glass won't help you when the past rears its ugly head and all thats left to find is a pathetic mess." Tenshi turned back to her drink, suddenly feeling empty and depressed. He was right. Nothing she could do would change her past. Drinking wouldn't bring back her people, wouldn't lay the life she'd taken before her to give back. There was nothing to this drink but liquid, and deterioration. By coming here, by partaking of this poison, she was no better than the detritus being pushed by the wind. She could make her own mind, choose her own destiny. The man made one more comment before he turned away. "You're too strong to let that overcome you" Tenshi stood up as well. She pulled a few bills out of her pocket, dropping them down on the counter in front of her. Turning, she faced the blond man once more. "You are right. I apologize for my earlier comment. It was crass of me to suggest you would want to fight."

Her flaring temper didn't surprise him. His father had always had the same quick to anger personality, and it wasn't becoming. Her wanting to fight didn't bother him either. He had fought women before, at the compound it was almost necessary, and his inability to sense powerlevel meant he was entirely unaware of her steep advantage. Overall he just wasn't afraid or angry.
The apology however, that was unexpected. His father had never backed down, and using harsh words like pathetic only brought him closer to thrashing his children, which up until recently he was capable of doing. He had been heading towards the door, but her apology had thrown him off guard. He stopped, taking a deep inhale to think. He thought about Jen. She had been so strong for so long, and by the time Kit came around she needed a break. She wasn't weak, as a matter of fact she was stronger mentally than Kit thought he could ever be. As he exhaled the heat of his own words hit his face, the embarrassment of his own behavior bringing warmth to his cheeks.
"No"
He said turning back around and manuevering past the crowded chairs that the room had scattered about. Slipping between two and making his way back to the bar where the...not entirely scantily clad woman...was sitting. He extended his hand to her, his eyes considerably less hard than they had been a moment before. Suddenly his own situation didn't seem as important. He remembered how much it had meant to Jen that he had stopped to help, and maybe he could do the same for this woman. But first they had to get out of the dank hellish bar.
"The apology is mine. You are not pathetic. Though this place certainly is, perhaps a change in scenery is necessary"
It was after all a pretty nice night. The air from the window was the best part about sitting at the bar, so why not experience it first hand.

The man had stopped when she'd made her statement and apology, turned around, and said no.
Tenshi was confused as he made his way through the crowd towards her. Was he saying that her apology wasn't good enough? Was he going to make well with her question to fight? She grew nervous the closer he got, until he stopped next to her.
"The apology is mine. You are not pathetic. Though this place certainly is, perhaps a change in scenery is necessary"
The Valkyrie was taken aback. A change in scenery...he meant to walk with her outside of this vile building. It was true, though, a change in scenery was more than necessary. Tenshi looked around, through the stinging smoke. The smelly building, with its ruddy light, the dark patrons (she was nearly certain there was some illegal tender exchanging hands in one of the darker corners), the untrustworthiness was almost palpable. She turned towards the man who'd come back from the door, and nodded her head.
"Lets get out of this hell-hole."
She would save the introductions until after they'd left, not wanting to give anyone in here more information than they already had.

Her hand was soft to the touch. Though it was much more rough when compared to that of a dainty lady, it was much softer when paired with the coarse hands that Kit had. Minimally helping her up, they found little trouble sliding around the tables and out the door into the crystal night that had fallen over the city. Both had been drinking but neither had particularly enjoyed it, nor gotten far enough to appreciates the alcoholic effects. The night air was simple and cool over the nape of his neck, and as they exited the bar he released her hand, which he realized he had now grabbed twice, and began walking forward, towards the main street. Kito couldn't force himself to be attracted to the woman. He was not nearly as shallow as other men thanks to his confined living. That said he hadn't even learned of the womans name and already he felt a need to save her. That was his problem after all, always jumping in to save others even if they didn't ask for it.
"My name is Saito Kito, I come from a quiet mountain village near Paozu. What can I call you?"
His speech was rather stoic by comparison to the other men they had been around. Everyone who spoke to Kit wondered if they were speaking with an old soul, one who appreciated the art of the proper spoken word. His pronunciation of these words was impeccable and the fluidity of them showed that he thought about what he would say before actually speaking, another strange difference between himself and the common central civilian. His mind had wandered back to the bar in patient waiting of her answer. He recalled her challenging him to a fight and wondered if that level of conduct was just the norm in this city or if perhaps she was just a little strange too. Perhaps she was new around here as well. Either way the crisp evening air was bringing the man comfort, more than he had felt in some time.
Their steps had started off echoing through the alley, but as he drew closer to the street, the clacking of their shoes was replaced with the roar of cars and the buzzing of skyline advertisements. The city certainly transformed at night. The stars had been covered by a sheen of neon lights, which frankly was just as beautiful to Kit who had never seen its glow before. The glow was unlike anything he had ever seen as they had lived without electricity his entire life. His ignorance was limited to having never witnessed it, he actually knew how it all worked. He was kept educated by his mother who although had resigned him to a life of utter isolation, had also kept him solidly in the loop.

Tenshi didn't pay much mind to the man holding her hand, being lost in thought-(lessness). Her thoughtless reverie continued even as they left the bar, her eyes turning almost immediately upward, arm dropping to her side when Kit let go. The stars shone in the sky, though they were almost transparent in their light strength. This was due to the overwhelming amount of light pollution that the city produced. With cars, street lamps, and large lights to highlight buildings, it seemed to drown out the stars, but created its own shimmer.
The girl was brought out of her mind by words escaping from the man's mouth. He acknowledged that he hadn't introduced himself, choosing to do so then, and asking Tenshi what her name was. He also said that he came from Mount Paozu, a quiet place that Tenshi chose often to retreat to for mental exercises. His word choice, and manner of speaking, sounded a little odd to the Valkyrie, but given that she was an alien on an odd planet, it didn't stick out too much. Perhaps it was from being raised so far from proper civilization. After all, even with settlements spaced sparsely around the mountain, Mount Paozu was quite a wild, and dangerous, place.
"You may call me Tenshi," She replied, only half realising that she was picking up his stoic speaking-manner. "I hail from..." Her voice trailed to an end, as she herself wasn't even sure. She knew where she had grown up, but any time she tried to think beyond that, her head got a sharp pain, as if something was suppressing her memory. She settled for her most recent home.
"Here. Central City." She hoped her lapse in the sentence would go unnoticed, as she slipped once more into silence.

Almost as if the woman hadn't remembered where she was from, she paused. Kit thought nothing of it as he lost his train of thought often. He let out a short throaty chuckle and pointed off down the street. This was after all the worst section of downtown, which meant only a few miles up the road was the very Dojo that Kit was so proud of. The girl clearly wasn't interested in telling him her life story, and she didn't need to. It quite frankly didn't matter to kit what her story was, she had been the first person to actively approach him in a while and it was nice just to have the company. Ethan was there, but there was only so much Kit could stand of the teenager before he required a break from the teens idealistic fantasies.
"I own a dojo just a few miles down the road from here. Would you be interested in seeing it, Tenshi?"
What had started off as a rather aggressive encounter had become pleasant. Kit was more than willing to show her around the dojo, or just keep walking up the street if that is what she prefered. Either way he would keep walking up the sidewalk, avoiding the few people that still remained on the street at the late hour. Kit had to admit his attraction to Tenshi, she was after all in a flattering purple color and perfectly wrapped jeans. If the man hadn't just engaged in such conduct outside of the city he may have even felt encouraged to try it with her. It was tempting, but Kit knew he couldn't throw himself at every pretty lady that was outside of the compound. He was a gentlemen and he would remain so. Besides that, the carnal pleasures of physical intimacy would lead to a whole slew of other commitments that Kit wasn't ready to own.
"So, Tenshi. Do you have any family in the area? Are they from central as well?"
Small talk. Kit wasn't particularly good at it but he wanted to talk with the stranger. She was after all an interesting person. She had challenged him to combat without thinking twice about it which meant she was brave, and likely into fighting. If that was the case Kit couldn't help but wonder if she would be amicable to doing so competitively. Though the school was not yet open, Kit couldn't help but advertise it every where he went. He wanted everyone to know that the crane school was making a come back, even if he didn't know when that come back would be.

As the duo walked down the road, the man lifted his arm, ending with a pointed finger. Tenshi's eyes followed down its length, leading towards what they could see of the road. It was accompanied by a throaty chuckle from the man, Kit. Curiously, Tenshi raised an eyebrow toward him, shortly before an explanation followed.
"I own a dojo just a few miles down the road from here. Would you be interested in seeing it, Tenshi?"
Her base response would have been to shrug, a noncommittal response. However, she stopped herself, to give ponder to this question. So far, Kit had seemed a fairly nice person, giving off an air and vibe that Tenshi couldn't help but trust. Even with little knowledge and interaction with him, Tenshi didn't feel worried about accepting his offer. Also the thought of a dojo furthered her answer. She had an innate want to fight, almost subconscious and carnal. She'd always had it, though typically avoided incursion. However, fights seemed to be drawn to her, no matter how much she tried to avoid him. Tenshi couldn't help but wonder if this was due to her heritage, which she knew little of. Trying to think about it sent an almost sharp tickle up her spinal cord and into her brain.
Nodding, she made her acceptance vocal. "Yes, I think I would like that."
The two lapsed into silence, and the Valkyrie had a chance to think to herself. This time she was dragged into thought about her name. Tenshi... In some languages, it meant "god," in others "son of heaven," and in some meant nothing. Tenshi doubted she was a deity, nor the son, or in her case daughter, of one. Plus, she just didn't like how it sounded, starting with a hard tuh, and ending in a hiss. Maybe she could give herself a new name, one that fit her more. After all, her movement into Central City kind of meant her starting a new life, and as each day went by, she felt her chances of finding Adrien were decreasing. At this point, it was almost null. Adrien could be anywhere on Earth, or even the galaxy. In fact, who would even notice? If she ran into the few people she'd introduced herself to, she could simply explain her change, and it would be no big deal.
Tenshi was beginning to formulate a new name, the shadow of a smile creeping across her face when Kit broke the silence.
"So, Tenshi. Do you have any family in the area? Are they from central as well?"
The form of a simple 'no' was on her lips, when the Valkyrie froze, eyes wide, skin cold. With barely a thought, the question had caused her mind to subconsciously search for the memory of her family. What it found instead was a sharp lance of pain in the front and back of her brain, the cerebellum and cerebral cortex. A sharp intake of breath between her teeth, and just as quickly as it had happened, it was gone. Tenshi let her arms fall limp to her side, as she stared at the stars in the sky, shining dully like the ones across her vision. What...was that?
She realised then how she must have looked to the man accompanying her and turned to him to apologize.
"I'm sorry, I just had a..." A what? Tenshi didn't know how to describe what had just happened to her, other than 'I tried to think about my past and something is stopping me.' As this seemed likely to arouse suspicion, she simply continued with answering his question. "No, I don't have family here." Her brusqueness was involuntary, and she hoped not to come off too mean to her new acquaintance. She awkwardly turned away from his face, looking farther down the road, before feebly trying to cover up her breaking the small talk.
"What about you? Does your family all live on Mount Paozu?"

Thinking almost seemed to hurt the poor girl as she aimlessly looked at Kit. Her face almost looked distraught and and made Kit wonder what she was hiding. Not that he believed it was sinister, but the fact that she was having so much trouble answering very simple questions made Kit wonder if perhaps the problems she had been drinking away were in fact something she were trying to forget. Maybe not remembering was the problem. Again, Kit was no psychologist, so he considered it a basic brain fart and left it at that, continuing with the conversation, avoiding asking specific questions again. She would tell him whatever she felt comfortable telling him, and he in turn would just aimlessly return the banter.
"Yes, well most of my family anyway. My father lives there with all of my brothers and sisters. We own a small compound on the eastern side of the mountain. "
It occurred to Kit that being as vague as possible here was a good thing. Explaining to someone how he had about twenty or so step mothers and over a eighty siblings wasn't exactly easy. So many questions and dirty looks always came with it. Kit of course saw nothing wrong with the dynamic. His mothers were happy, especially his own, and his father was for the most part running a decent household. His siblings after all were growing stronger with each passing day. He wondered some days if he should go back and teach them all of what he had learned. He decided that this would be a poor choice, and that it would stunt his own growth. With powerful creatures out there in the world it was impossible to just sit back and let things happen. So he wouldn't.
"I left to join the Crane school, unfortunately it has seen better days. I'm hoping to reopen it in the fall once everything has been put back together. Perhaps even bring back the World Martial Arts Championship. I've always wanted to compete."
Now he would really learn if Tenshi was interested in such things. If she was, perhaps he could get a little more than idle conversation out of her. It was easy for Kit to discuss martial arts. Any style, any artist, and any famous legend, he loved it all. If she showed even the slightest interest in fighting their walk home would be much more interesting, for him anyway. They had rounded a small corner finally leaving the city district. Businesses were being replaced by large apartment complexes, and on the other side was a neighborhood. Just three blocks past that neighborhood was the dojo, so they still had a bit of time to chat.

Tenshi felt herself almost blushing as it seemed that her lack of memory was fairly noticeable. HOwever, she was relieve when Kit did not mention it, and instead answered her question, though rather vaguely. She nodded listening. The way that he said "all my brother and sisters" seemed like there was more than just the usual number. She didn't think much of it, rather that thought being near the back of her brain. Though he'd left it out, if Kit had mentioned just how big his family was, Tenshi wouldn't have gawked at him, or glared, or really anything. Simply having a family to her was abnormal, though she would never say so. No matter how big, sloppy, or messed up a family was, it was still a family.
Kit continued with his explanation, how he had moved here to join the Crane School. It was apparently in bad shape, though putting two and two together, Tenshi summised that it must be in good enough shape to spar. Kit planned on fixing it back up, and hosting a tournament. This peaked the Valkyrie's interest. A tournament could be fun...though she'd gone a bit soft recently, if she trained properly, it wouldn't be impossible to compete, and possibly even win. And a World Tournament...that would certainly draw lots of attention. Typically, this would be a con, but for now, anything that could reunite her with Adrien was a plus. Tenshi nodded vigorously as the blonde man finished, already forgetting her memory problem.
"That sounds like a fantastic idea. A World Martial Arts Championship...to compete with fighters from all over, bringing people together." She stared ahead, eyes almost glossy. The bringing of people together was one of Tenshi's life-long goals, though on a much higher level than just for a world-tournament. She knew that ultimate peace was intangible, and would never work. But the idea of a planetary treaty, galactic compromise, even universal rules for war, limiting casualties...Tenshi didn't know why, but she felt she could bring this around. And maybe this tournament would be the start.
"I could help you," she suddenly blurted out. The words had come unbidden to her mouth, and she shut it tight. "I-I mean, if you wanted help."

Tenshi was an interesting girl. For starters Saito had rarely met a woman interested in fighting, and this one was certainly that. She seemed open to the idea of a world martial arts tournament, but really who wouldn't. It was truly the greatest experience Kit had ever considered. The sun beating down and reflecting off the white tile of the arena, warming the skin to match the butterflies the flew within the belly. A crowd of thousands cheering your name, and a respectable opponent able to face you in a fair competition. Kit was so tired of fighting his siblings, or fighting against creatures like Anri who were in it for money or power. He needed a legitimate combat full of respect for the practice, and a tournament would put him in contact with other people who shared his inspiration. They were now only a few blocks away from the dojo, he could actually see one of the roof fixtures off in the distance.
"I could use all the help in the world Miss Tenshi. I'm certain it will come to pass one day. No matter what I'm not ready for a tournament of that size. I had thought myself capable enough, but clearly there are other fighters out there far more vicious than myself."
Again the thought of Anri reached his mind. Why was that alien so stuck on his brain. Having taken a severe beating to the Alien it was reasonable to think about him, yet his mind seemed fixed. As if Anri were standing right next to him and his brain was ready to speak with him. He knew the Alien wasn't there, and wasn't entirely sure what he was expecting to happen with him. But given the circumstances of their last fight there was sincere pressure on Kit's part to get stronger. He began to play with the bracelets on his wrists. They were after all more than cheap trinkets. They were weighted with an intensity that Kit had grown accustomed too. Not to say it didn't slow him down, but when he had started wearing them he had been much weaker, and now, even with them on, he surpassed his starting strength, and he knew it. Still he refused to take them off, they were there to keep him under pressure and ensure that he was capable of fighting when the time came.
"These bracelets here. They weight over two hundred pounds each. At this point I hardly feel them anymore. I wonder some nights if I would be able to even fight with them off, or if I would float away into the sky. I can't imagine my life without them...Really training is all I have ever known. I just want validation that my efforts are for something. I can't keep working towards a mundane goal, I need something grand. This tournament may be just what I need. Do you spar Miss Tenshi?"
By the time he had finished speaking they were already around the corner from the dojo. He had nearly finished his work on it. The outside looked well maintained as did the brick wall surrounding it. The roof had been retiled and the garden trimmed down much thanks to his younger brother. The concept that he was finished building the dojo was almost more difficult to comprehend than it was a relief. Yet again he had given himself a task and completed it too soon for his own good. The building was truly wonderful, but now what? Would he go build an arena in his backyard? No that would be ludicrus, instead he would continue to train until he was the strongest waste of space in all the world. He needed that tournament. As Tenshi responded the two would approach the entryway where the gate once was. Kit had removed it because of its stubborness and now more than ever he was glad for it. He would hate to embarrass himself trying to open a gate that just wouldn't budge.
