Twenty-Eight Years Ago...
She sat at her laptop typing away, running theories and scenarios through her program. A bead of sweat trickled down her brow as she kept coming up with the same result time and time again. No matter who or what she put in its path, the event she wished to prevent looked to be unstoppable. There was always dire consequences in one form or another, along with so many unknowns. But she had to find another way, as the current project seemed to be nothing more than constant failure. The only subject that could withstand the procedure would need to come from him...
"Come to bed, Tess. It's one in the morning and you work tomorrow." He said, leaning against the frame of the open door with a beer in hand. His second of the night, and he'd been nursing them lightly. It helped him sleep.
She closed her eyes. "Edward... I want a child."
He sighed. "We have been over this. We've tried, but I cant. I told you when we met that I could never give you children." He reminded her.
She nodded. "You can... just not the traditional way. I told you, all I need is a drop of your blood..."
He walked into the room. "I aint having my kid pieced together in a tube, Tess. It's not... natural. I just wouldn't be able to see the child as..."
She jumped up as her tail whipped out from around her waist, the chair fell over. "Not natural!? Coming from the man who bears the eyes of a Demon!? How dare you!" She roared, looking into his blood red eyes.
He recoiled, then became angry. "Damnit Tess! I needed to do that! We've been over this, without them..."
She let out a growl of frustration as she turned around and grabbed the side of her head. "I know! You needed to be stronger for your cause and all that. You kill people who need to be killed to make the world a better place, but Edward..." She whipped around. "... It's still murder!"
He was surprised. Next thing he knew, he threw a closed fist into her mouth. She took the blow, but didn't fall over. A Saiyan can take a hit quite well, even if she was just a scientist. She turned and threw one back, into his cheek. He stumbled back from it. He stood there for a moment and but a hand to his face.
"I... deserved that. I'm sorry, you know how I get when I'm angry." He explained. If he had drank more, he would have likely thrown another punch. Tessa however simply stood there with barely a mark on her face.
"You're an idiot, Eddie. Throwing a punch at a purebred Saiyan." She walked up to him and put her arms around him. Such levels of domestic violence were common in Saiyan culture, so she took it far lighter than a human would have. This is why Edward could never have a human wife. His anger got the better of him. To Tessa, it was just another challenge.
"Please, Edward. One drop... for me. I want to experience motherhood like a human woman would... they just look so happy with their children. Please..." She begged.
Edward stood there for a few moments. Then, he put his arms around her as well. "Fine. Have your child." He told her. He hated the idea of some kid being constructed like a doll in a glass tube. It would never be his.
Tessa however did not truly have any real intentions of basking in the joys of motherhood...

Seventeen Years Ago.....
The ten-year-old boy was enjoying yet another one of his mothers cookies. He loved to watch as she simply caused the ingredients to appear from nowhere as she whipped them together into the dough. "Hey mom, why don't you just make the cookies appear?" He asked, as he figured wasting time baking them was pointless if she could just make the cookies themselves.
She smiled. "Simple, Zeke. They taste better when you make them this way. And it's more fun!" She explained. Zeke smiled as he understood quite well. Then the door opened and a dark figure slowly made its way into the house. Zeke turned around to see his fathers tired face. He smelled of blood as usual. He didn't look at them as he walked on and down into the basement that Zeke was not allowed to enter. He turned to his mother. "Father doesn't even say hi." He pointed out. Tess shook her head and went back to baking.
Zeke looked at the partly open door to the basement for a while before he snuck off. He wasn't long going down into the dark level of the house and seen his father's coat and hat hanging up. Zeke turned a corner to then see his father sitting at a table with a long curved sword and a stone, sharpening it by hand.
"You aren't supposed to be down here, Ezekiel." He reminded the boy.
Zeke just stood there. He was scared of the man, but he took a step forward. "Dad...lets play catch." He said. Edward however simply stopped what he was doing and sighed. "No, I had a long day and I still have much to do." He said. Zeke didn't understand though, it was always the same thing.
"Come on Dad, we could go for a walk or go to a movie or go hunting?" He asked. He just wanted to get to know him. Edward turned around and looked at Zeke with his blood red eyes. "You will call me Father, Zeke. And I just told you I do not have time!"
Zeke took a step forward. "You never have time! You won't even tell me why! You won't even tell me what your job is!" he yelled back. Edward stood up quickly causing the chair to fall over and started at Zeke with a clenched fist. Zeke became frightened and threw a hand out, causing a chunk of the floor in front of Edward to project out and slam into his chest, knocking him back. Edward slammed against the table.
"Damn little shit, how dare you strike me!" He said, looking up. Zeke made a dash for the stairs but Edward appeared next to him in a puff of smoke and grabbed him, slamming him against the wall. He clenched his teeth and looked the boy in the eyes. Zeke's eyes were filled with tears and fear. Edward was furious with just that. "Know what, I have an idea. I'm going to take you hunting. "
Zeke was surprised. "Wh-really!?" he said, suddenly happy. Edward dropped him to the ground and walked back to the table, straightening it out. "Yes. Tonight actually. That's what my job is. I hunt bad people Zeke, and you're going to help me." He explained.
Zeke's excitement changed into confusion. Hunt... people? What did that even mean? Edward looked down at Zeke. "You however will never tell your mother of this."
