“Computer, activate random intervention protocol”
Master, Thank you for engaging the Simulator 2.0. Today you will be facing a randomized sequence of combat. In this combat you have chosen the fight a group of opponent’s tournament style, starting with the weakest level available, and working your way up. Sitwo will be happy to assist you in gauging all power levels from past experiences, and enhancing them based on current knowledge: will this satisfy your requirements for the day?
The computer had taken on its own name, something Kit couldn’t really understand. He hadn’t programed a name into it, so how had the machine created it? Nevertheless he was happy to call it by whatever name it fancied so long as it provided the combat tutorials he needed. Ever since returning to the school he spent many hours a night cramming in the trainings he needed. Though he had never set the gravity higher than 15%, he was confident that tonight would be the night he increased the gravity and set loose a hell upon whatever the machine sent out. It would create images and people based on those he had fought in the past. Saito would fight until he lacked the energy to do so any longer.
“Sitwo, activate gravity at 20%. I am ready to begin now”
Beginning simulation. Activating a 20% increase in the Earth’s gravitational pull. Releasing units
The room grew dark, and then without warning lit back up. It felt as though the sun itself were shining as Saito came to the understanding that he was no longer in the dojo. This time he was in a small town. It only took him a moment to realize where. This had been the abandoned town he had first encountered after leaving Mt. Paozu. The gang of bikers appeared shortly after the last house rose, although this time there would be no Jenny. The simulator wasn’t trying to give him a reminiscent reoccurance, it only provided combat, something Saito was more than happy to provide. His right hand rose up, rumbling slightly as the six gang members got off of their bikes and took several steps towards him. At the time Saito had faced this enemy they had each been at around a thousand PL. Giving them a grand total of six if they really tried. Though Saito was the only one who understood Ki, and he had one the first time, a bullet to the back being his only injury. This time their guns would do no good. Saito’s however would appear unstoppable. With his only resistance being the weights on his wrist and ankles, and the inconvenience of a heavier gravity, the men didn’t stand a chance.
The bullets rang out as they moved quickly, striking each man in the exact same spot. Six of them meant that he only needed one hand. His new spirit revolver saw to that. Each one fell almost immediately after the one before them, and after only a second the enemies were sprawled out on the ground.
“Too easy, Sitwo, something more challenging!”
How could he hope to defend the planet if all he could face were recreations of the worthless thugs he had come in contact with? He knew however that next would be his brother. When last he fought with Ethan the boy had been no more than four thousand in strength. It was a wonder he didn’t show up before the thugs. The next appearance however was not of Ethan, but of someone else Saito knew. His body tensed as the tall black haired sensei appeared before him. Sekai. Though this Sekai was without the originals personality or charm. It was an obvious imitation. This meant that not only had Ethan surpassed Saito’s expectations, he had also achieved a strength higher than that of Kit’s most respected mentor, whose PL rested gently at twenty thousand. He was already in a focus state, his face hard with clear trims around his brow and cheek bones. His body expanded to a hulk of a man, and his own nearly purple aura wrapping around his legs and up his torso.
Saito would have been happy to reveal his own focus state, but he knew better than that. These tournament rounds were meant to test his endurance, and revealing that so soon would be foolish. He could however show off the hand to hand combat he had picked up in that time. Again fighting the current of gravity pushing down on his shoulders the fighter broke forward, his knee flying forward first. It was the start of a standard combo he had created. It was powered by Ki, and guaranteed that if the first strike hit, the others would follow.
(Wings Flurry: This combination of strikes is of a physical nature. It is a powerful combo that is dependent on the first strike. If the warrior can make physical contact with the first hit, the combo will be successful. First the user throws their knee forward. If the knee makes contact, or is blocked with a body part, the move is successful and is followed by a swift and powerful gravity defying flip that lands them behind the opponent. From there the sole of his heel will make contact with the opponents back. This kick is powered with ki, and creates 5-25 yards of distance between the two combatants. NOTE: This is not an auto hit move, however if the knee is blocked or hit, the opponent should be considerate of the user’s technique. This is like an energy blast and the entire combination should be considered. Repetition of this attack on the same opponent in the same battle is impossible as the element of surprise would be lost.)
This was the first attack that Saito had named and yet not spoken upon release. His knee flew forward and was very quickly blocked by Sekai who brought both palms down to catch it. This was the combo’s catch, his Ki empowered knee used the immoveable objects force to propel itself back the way it came, and then some. Saito would flip face forward with his lower body propelling up into the air. When his legs came around for a 360 degree angle, his right heel would make contact with the middle of his old friends back sending his entire body into the ground. Sekai would hit the solid Earth hard, and skid nearly twenty yards before slowing to a stop. Shakily the fighter rose to his feet, but Saito would not wait for him to be at an amicable defense. He had already begun a full sprint towards his opponent, and let loose with a swift punch. Sekai would not simply take the hit and weaved to the left, throwing his own punch. That was blocked by Kit’s opposing forearm and with that same arm the warrior thrust his elbow into the opposing warriors nose. Blood spurt out instantly and in the moment of insanity Saito grounded both of his feet and then spun on his right toe, raising his left left up into the air for a devastating roundhouse kick that would land the fighter again on the ground several feet away.
Saito wouldn’t normally use physical confrontation. Of course this was once his go too style, he simply couldn’t afford it with stronger opponents, but even as a simulation he respected Sekai too much not to fight him with bare fists. The simulation however was no Sekai, it lacked the basic honor that he did. From his bloodied position on the ground the shimmering form of Sekai rose a shaky finger and charged a spirit gun. Saito’s Ki sensing knew it was coming from the moment Sekai charged the first ounce of energy into the ball, and without looking the master pointed his own finger back, and callously whispered.
“Spirit Gun”
Sekai had taught him the attack, and unfortunately for the simulation, Kit had perfected it. The sphere of energy left his finger and struck Sekai’s marble sized imperfect form, breaking it, and the simulation almost instantly. This would cause the room to grow dark once more. The simulation was choosing new scenery. This time he appeared to be on the lookout. Again Saito was perplexed as his brother was not anywhere to be seen. Shrugging it off as a mistake of the machine, Saito was more than a little concerned to sense a powerful energy coming at him, and a shrill familiar voice commanding it. She had yelled Dodon Ray which limited the number of culprits to one. Carla.
He needed his Ki dash to avoid it, and the tiles of the lookout exploded into several pieces as the energy struck it. That Dodon ray was similar to his spirit gun in many ways, however its destructive quality was naturally stronger than his own. Simply put, fired from the same power level, his spirit gun wouldn’t stand a chance. He was not however at the same PL. His Ki Dash had taken him several feet away from the girl, who much like her style had fired several shots at the same time, each one hitting a spot the warrior was once poised. Her last one however was aimed more appropriately and pointed directly at the spot he would officially end his dash. It was wrong of her to assume Saito would stop ill prepared. The moment his form appeared to her it was already pointing an index finger in her direction.
“Spirit Gun”
He muttered, letting loose the attack. The energy behind it rattled his clothing, the wind pushing them back. Had his jacket not been firmly attached to his body, he would have easily lost it. The blue ball collided with the yellow beam and the two exploded instantly. That was the way of the Dodon, it rarely encountered a beam struggle that it could manage. Instead it would opt to blow up the beam as it did this time. The explosion created an immediate plume of smoke, which Saito used as cover. The simulated Carla had thought her attack had been enough to take the fighter down, and much like the real thing, she was wrong. His knee jabbed upward just below her rib cage, appearing from the smoke. The simulation shuttered for a moment before completely disappearing. The lookout however did not fade. It would provide the next challenger as well.
Though he had taken out Carla rather quickly, Saito knew his information on her was limited. When he had seen her in combat her abilities had been little better than rapid fire, and her most powerful energy attack had not been terribly significant. Perhaps on a better day she would have stood a chance, but that day was not today. His next opponent was much stronger than the Carla he met on the lookout. His signature was easily recognizable and it became obvious who it was. Turning to face his new opponent, Saito recognized his own brother, Ethan. He had not expected the boy to arrive so late in the simulation, yet here he was. His body had grown as well, and his hair had been left untrimmed for some time making it shaggy. His dark blue hair was hard not to notice regardless of its length. Saito hadn’t spoken much to the boy since his return and they definitely hadn’t fought, so why the sim would show a different version of him made little sense, at first that is. The realization that Ethan had been using the machine to train brought a grin to the warrior’s face, one that would quickly turn to one of concern as the fighter disappeared. Ethan wasn’t so fast he was invisible, but the Simulator had no weights or Gravity to pull itself down, and this Ethan was capped out at nearly fifty thousand in powerlevel. Saito, having not yet transformed, was only at a maximum of thirty five thousand. The intense weight limited how much power he could actually use, as much of it was being absorbed into his weights. The first punch from Ethan landed quickly into Saito’s midsection. It had been the brother’s most notable target. Something about his mid-section just looked so punchable, and Ethan always took advantage of it. The second punch was blocked clumsily by Saito’s right forearm, and the elder brother used the opportunity to leap backwards. His attempt to create an opening between them was fruitless as Ethan very quickly closed the gap, throwing several additional punches his way. Without transforming there would be no way around him. The blue haired marvel was swift, and his punches accurate. At one point the blonde elder brother even took flight only to be followed into the air by Ethan. The simulation had given him a ridiculous contraption on which to stand and it seemed to be equally as fast as the boy himself.
Had his brother really grown this much in their time apart? Why was he so surprised, he had grown quite a bit on his own, why wouldn’t Ethan? Another Ki dash left his legs in the grip of pain and it was obvious that the battle would be won by the blue streak unless Saito entered his focus state. His muscles expanded, his hair becoming spikey and filled with static. Even now he was only barely stronger than his brother. It was clear that Ethan was 2/3rds of Kit’s best when the gravity and weights were set upon him. Though he was proud of the boy and his efforts, he couldn’t simply allow his brother to defeat him. His right and left hand both held a charge. Saito flipped backwards through the air, landing on the ground and leaving Ethan to fly towards him at an alarming speed. The blonde warrior squinted and held up both hands, his fingers pointing out. It was his Spirit revolver. He let loose a slew of small spirit bullets, rapid fire and located at the base of Ethan’s board. The boy flew quickly towards him, but after about six bullets the board flew out from under him, sending his kid brother –who was already close to the ground as it was- chin first into the marble tiles of the lookout. Unfortunately each hand still held three bullets, which continued to rapid fire at the boy, striking his back six consecutive times. Had it not been a simulation Saito certainly would have stopped and allowed his brother a chance to stand, but the sim was rutheless. Then again Saito had been as well.
He could have continued, but it was clear that he had worked himself up too much. He had callously brought down the simulation of Sekai, Carla, and Ethan. Though none were as strong as Saito, each had impacted his life in a significant way, and they didn’t deserve this treatment. Panting, he spoke out to the computer.
“Sitwo, delete this program. If I wish to fight with Ethan or Carla, I will seek them out. They deserve that much. Exiting simulator”
The computer retorted with the basic garbled musings of an obedient machine, and the program was lost. Obviously rather than playing on his computer, Saito should be facing his brother in person. The simulator was making him hard in the face of battle. He was willing to do more, and even cause lethal blows. When it came to real combat this was not his way of fighting, and he would not stand for it here. Until he could get a handle on himself, there would be no more training in the simulator. Besides, the Crane school needed to raise funds, it was time for that. This would be his last Gravity training for a while.
