Heaven had been an interesting place thus far. And that was putting it mildly. Time seemed to pace in a different manner here than back in the realm of the living. How long had the former crown-prince been in the land of the dead? He could but hazard a guess.
What had occurred upon the planet of Mement Mor in his absence? When he had left there was fighting occurring all around him. Had any died on the planet. When he had talked to Yemma the great King told him that Invictus still lived. Was that still true? Did the great suit of armor so filled with hate still live? What of Celeh, of Willie Watson, of Conri Lane, or Frigid? No doubt they had not fallen yet, or they would too be here in Heaven. Was there a chance that they had gone to Hell?
It didn’t seem likely, they were four of the greatest people that Ninjin had ever known. Ninjin smiled at the memory of his friends. Ninjin was sitting cross legged on the top of one of the fields of Heaven. Despite the thoughts of the past he found it was easy to mediate on the fields and hills of Heaven. This place was eternal paradise, there was no doubt about that.

Celeh was going to go out to the edge of town in the hills for another training session after a day of rest, but she found a surprise there. Ninjin was there, sitting in meditation. She approached quietly as not to disturb him and sat down beside him, laying back on the grass of the hill. She stared up at the sky of heaven, finding that heaven had its own sky to be a bit silly since everyone in the living realm always looked to the sky as if it were heaven. She glanced over at Ninjin with her hands behind her head on the ground and finally spoke up, "Is this training for you, or have the events of our death weighed upon your mind that heavily, Ninjin?"
Her question was direct and short. It seemed like she had a lot to say since arriving in heaven, but her questions remained short and to the point. Perhaps she was just tired of asking questions of people who didn't bother to give answers, or maybe she was trying to be more direct and figure out the right questions to ask in the first place. Her tail rubbed against a rock nearby to scratch an itch near her tail tip and then it rested by curling up on the ground beside her. "Fancy meeting you here, right?" The soldier gave a light chuckle at that. Laughing wasn't something she did very often. Did they have anything to laugh about, really, being dead and all? Still, they made it to heaven somehow. If someone asked her before she died if she'd make it to heaven rather than hell, she honestly wouldn't have been able to give them a straight answer.

A breeze softly blew over the former prince, and for a moment, on the edge of his hearing he thought he heard someone approaching. The thought floated by slowly, such was the Saiyan so deep in his mediation, and he decided to let it continue to float on by as it might. Then something happened that he truly hadn’t been expecting. A voice spoke out. A very familiar voice that all at once filled him with happiness and a great sadness. It cut like a knife through his mediation and his eyes flickered open. Yes, if he had been paying attention he would have noticed his friend approach. Her arrival lying next to him on the grass now could only mean one thing however. She, too, had died.
The first thing she said to him made the prince crack half a smile. Fancy meeting her here was right. Ninjin had not believed in any sort of afterlife. Now to be sitting in Heaven with the woman that he had flown off so recklessly in a suicide mission. They had set out for revenge and murder, but had won glory and redemption.
“This is a little of either for me, though I did not know that you too had... I still find it hard to believe where and what I am now. For my part in your being here I'm sorry.” It was straightforward and earnest, but he did his best to not let the apology ruin the good mood the captain seemed to have. The chuckle hadn’t gone unnoticed. Ninjin wasn’t sure he had ever heard the solider laugh before and he certainly didn’t want to discourage it. It was a lovely sound, especially after having seen her on the way to their assured deaths.
“How long have you been here?”

His response turned out to be an apology. She had not expected that at all. Celeh's gaze at Ninjin didn't shift. The saiyan woman shook her head, "You have no reason to be apologizing to me. I don't blame you for what happened. It was my own lack of power that got me killed. I have the inner strength, but not the power required to carry it. I got in over my head. I am the one who chose to accept the mission, however. It wasn't your request for me to go along." She wanted him to fully understand that she didn't leave any of the fault on him. Her death was her own burden to bare. His question about how long she'd been here was hard to answer. Time felt like it flowed normally here, but she could not be certain. It wasn't something she'd remembered to ask the Kais when they'd first met.
"I do not know if time flows the same here as it did before we died. If it does follow the same day and night cycle in more than just appearances...then I've been here for a short few days so far. I've spoken with two of the Kais so far. Shizukesa...the leader...and Chishiki...the more astute member of their group. I don't know much about this place, though. It looks like peaceful paradise, but we can still fight, bleed, feel pain...it's almost like a second life. I don't feel like I tire as easily here, though. I've already done a strenuous training session...that's how I know these things." She was talking a lot again. Whether her talking was due to her death making her a chatterbox from the stress or simply because she felt free to speak now that her post as a soldier no longer made her keep her words in check was uncertain.

Celeh made it clear that she put no blame upon him. Truthfully that was a relief off of his shoulders. The former prince hadn’t realized the tension he had been under stressing about Celeh and the others on Mement Mor. She was not alone in getting in over her head. Ninjin had achieved the form of Super Saiyan, but he too had died and gone to Heaven. The trip had been a complete and utter failure, aside from Ninjin unlocking some of the power that lay within him.
His friend’s experience of time seemed to differ to him, but strangely that made sense to the Saiyan. Back, before he had died, he had heard tales of the supposed Afterlife. They said that everyone experienced them differently. Was that true even of Heaven in the here and now? Perception is reality they said, but what about afterlife? The thoughts were tempting Ninjin back into mediation, but he fought them off. The questions of the universe? Well he had an eternity to ponder those didn’t he? As well as train his body to perfection.
At her mention of the Kais Ninjin scowled. He too had met some. It hadn’t been the greatest first impression. Celeh then told him a bit about her training. Did she know of The Eternal Tournament? Or did she find her own way of training. Ninjin too had discovered the benefits of training in Heaven. Still something else weighed on his mind. Whether he noticed her change in decorum or not didn't show. Truthfully Ninjin had lost those ways some time ago. Massive life changing events had a way of changing people like that. The next words nearly spilled from his mouth, despite himself he needed to know.
“What happened… after I…?”

Celeh should have seen his question coming, but sadly she had no concrete answer for him. She sat up now and rested her arms on her lap. She shook her head at him and frowned, "That is something I would like to know for myself. I wasn't around much longer after you faded. When a young earthling joined the fight between myself and that Namekian assassin I thought we had a good chance of winning. I held my own against him despite the gap in our power in his favor. But the boy vanished mid-battle after I told him to stay clear of the fight, and a creature of black goo appeared. It attacked myself and the Namekian. The three way bout went far south from there, and a desperate attack from the assassin put an end to me after that monster landed a critical blow. My whole left side was useless and I was bleeding badly. The Namekian put the nail in the proverbial coffin...I didn't remember it clearly at first, but after resting and meditating, the events came back clearly to me..." She paused and sighed. That wasn't the answer he was looking for and she knew it.
"Your final attack did a lot of damage, I know that much. But the planet still stands unless your partner was able to defeat their leader. That I do not know the outcome of...I perished before I was able to ascertain a certain conclusion to their battle." She waited for his response, wondering how he felt about the failure of their mission. Was he disappointed, upset, relieved, or what? She knew how she felt. But even if they failed, there was still the uncertainty of whether or not the remaining fighters had attempted to destroy the planet. She didn't know their motivations, though, so she couldn't guess what they might have done after the battle. "It's strange, but it was the first time I felt relieved that I failed a mission. I still regret not keeping my promise to Akassa, but after something one of the Kais said I'm concerned if something isn't toying with Akassa from behind the scenes. He spoke as if a dark force was pulling at her..."

Her description of the events that led up to her death made him sad. What had happened to William Watson, the earthling she had been describing? Had he died in the battle? It had been no place for him to be… for any of them to be. Still the dead Saiyan couldn’t for the life, or death, of him figure out what they had been doing on Mement Mor in the first place. He let that thought slip away too, curious if he would ever know the answer. Celeh had fought valiantly from what she said and he nodded his head. Still she didn’t know what had occurred with Conri Lane and Invictus. He was both glad his final moments had not been wasted.
“I’m proud of you Celeh, for what it’s worth. You fought valiantly. I’m… well I’m not sure how I feel about our mission. I’m glad I didn’t have to blow up the planet and take so many lives, regardless of anything else. Still, the threat to our people still remains and if they have anything like Invictus… perhaps even Warlock… Well I fear for New Vegeta.” There was more than black and white in the puddle of grey that had been their mission. Still not having committed genocide was probably high on what got Ninjin into Heaven.
“I cannot speak for my sister, and I know not what pulls her strings. A dark force outside of her, or inside of her, or no dark force at all. Akassa has always had an anger within her, which seems to be the case with all Saiyans. I would have to see her for myself to be the judge. As for what the Kai said, they seem to perceive everything as a threat. They jump at shadows caused by the sun and their own hands.”
He laughed at his own joke at the end. If the kais she had met were anything like those that he had she would understand.

Celeh had a very different opinion of the matter than Ninjin. Part of Celeh wanted to believe that there was still weight of her hopes and good fortune for her people, but the other half told her to cut all ties with the past. That the part of her that still felt ties to the living world was already gone and that her old life was over. She shook her head again as she tried to stave off that internal conflict for now, but it would not be silenced, "I do not know if I can bring myself to worry about our home...or even my own family anymore. The part of me that was tied to them...it is gone. My old life came to an end, and I feel somewhat fulfilled knowing that I left all my cards on the table before I walked away from the gamble of life."
She paused to take a breath and think about what else he had said. She smirked at his comment about them being afraid of everything, "Afraid doesn't strike me as the right word...not of their leader, anyway. The studious one was scared of everything, though. I do understand why...we were raised on the front lines of a struggle they fear for. It makes sense that they would be afraid of a battle they've watched from the sidelines for so long. They seem to have little to no experience with the problems they are so concerned about. Some less than others, but still. I can't say that I feel comfortable making judgments against them, though. I have a feeling they're still hiding things from us. Whether for their safety or our own, I feel like they're not telling us things that are pertinent to our old lives that we would want to know...or things that would be pertinent to us now."
She shifted her legs and rested her right elbow on her right knee as she turned slightly to face Ninjin a bit better, "I have my own goals that I want to pursue now...and as it turns out, we have a seemingly endless eternity to work on whatever we desire in this paradise. Why not strive for self-improvement? It's spiritual perfection that makes heaven worthwhile anyway, isn't it? So I intend to use the time I have here to the fullest. Maybe I can find a new level of power no one has seen before. Even if no one alive finds out about it, it would be worth it for me... a personal accomplishment..."

There certainly was a difference in the way they were seeing things, but only perhaps because Ninjin had not considered that before. Could he simply just leave his past behind. This was Heaven. What worry had he for the affairs of the living? Still… Azuki… Akassa. Nasu. No, he could not push that aside, no matter how much better it may be for him. They were different in that respect.
It seemed he was not alone in his mistrust of the Kais, so called guardians of Heaven. Afraid? Perhaps not. They certainly did seem intent on seeing everything as a threat. The ones she was talking about he had not met, but if they were anything like the others he wasn’t interested. There was no doubt much he didn’t know or understand about the universe, he just wasn’t so sure he’d believe the kais. They were arrogant and prideful, not at all what Ninjin had been expecting from guardians of Heaven.
“Those are very noble and worthy goals. We have an eternity, I am no doubt sure that you will be able to find what it is you’re looking for. If I can help in any way, let me know. I too have an eternity to use it seems.”
Ninjin studied Celeh closely as she turned to face him. The halo around her head looked good on her. A question tugged at Ninjin's mind. Could she attain the level of Super Saiyan? Conri Lane had. It seemed that Akassa had. Ninjin himself had. There were three known to him. Could she too obtain that level? There was only one way to find out, and he would help her if he could.

She smirked at his reply and nodded at last. Finally something she could be positive about, "My first goal on that ladder is to achieve what's already known. to do that, I have to master the forms available to me. Right now I think mastering the Oozaru form would be my best bet." She scoffed and shook her head yet again. The disdain for that form was apparent just from the look on her face. "Not that I'm the most beautiful woman to grace the living or dead realm, but there's something detestable about the form of a giant hairy ape. I fear I might get fleas or something just by transforming." She flicked her tail and sighed, "It must sound silly to you...I trained my tail to be able to handle punishment, but I never bothered mastering that basic transformation of our race. It could have been an equalizer in a lot of my hardest battles, but I managed without it...save for that last one." She gave a sarcastic laugh. "But now that I'm no longer having to worry about anything, I suppose I can try and get through my dislike of the form to learn something about it at last. I know I must sound very superficial..."
Celeh slowly got to her feet, dusting herself off and looking down at Ninjin. The soldier extended a hand down to him to help him up. "If you've got time and the patience to try, I'd like to learn to control the giant ape form. We might want to get a little further away from the town before we try this, though. If I go rogue and start causing havoc I'd rather not have the ire of those universal guardians coming after me. And I'd rather be seen as little as possible in that form, too, truth be told."

Ninjin wholeheartedly agreed that the Oozaru form was something that Celeh should be utilizing and was surprised to hear that she had not learned to master the form. For Ninjin he had done so at such a young age that the very nature of the form was a second to his own. What surprised him the most was her detest of the form. It went hand in hand with being a Saiyan. The Saiyan kept the thoughts to himself though. Her face said enough.
“I would be proud to teach you to master the form. It was outlawed by Tsyuo that non royals could learn the Moon ball technique. I hardly care his thoughts, and it doesn’t matter here and now in Heaven. I would gladly teach you both.”
Ninjin said the words with a friendly smile, happy to be stepping back into the role of teacher. Once, a long lifetime ago, he had taught his brother to control his massive form. There was no doubt in his mind that he would be able to teach his friend the same. Her hesitation may hold her back, but they would push past that.
“We can go wherever you like. This is Heaven. I wouldn’t worry too much about the people of the town, we’re not liable to kill them after all.” It was quite obviously a joke. He stood and held out his hand to his friend.

She hadn't considered the fact that they were already dead when she thought about mastering the form. She looked around the hills and nodded, "That makes as much sense as anything else to me. I suppose we can start here, then. I trust that you'll keep me from causing too much damage. Most of my fighting techniques require control and focus, so I doubt a wild raging ape would be able to use them properly, if at all." She pondered what he meant by the moon ball. She'd always heard about the power ball technique that allowed Saiyans to focus their energy to capture blutz waves and then cast those waves outward to make nearby Saiyans transform. The Moon Ball must have been the proper name for that technique since it was limited to Royals anyway.
"I always heard that technique was a myth, and that only natural moonlight could make a Saiyan transform. But hearing the correct name from you now tells me that the royal family must have kept it from those outside of their bloodline quite well." That fact didn't bother her. Blood and birth meant little to her now. The past was in the past and it couldn't be changed, but she wouldn't be held down by it, either. "Any tips before we begin? How can I learn to create this Moon Ball?"

Control and Focus. Well if she didn't have control over her Oozaru form, well then she wouldn't have much of either of those things right away. For Ninjin it was like putting on a well-loved suit. It fit perfectly, and so comfortably as to feel like second nature. Vil, his own bodyguard, had been the one to teach him control over his Oozaru form, but that was so long ago it felt like lifetimes.
A myth? That took him by surprise. Yes he had heard that Tsyuo had outlawed the technique and Ninjin had never thought to teach it to anyone else besides family till now, but he supposed that did make sense. What else of Royal life did he take for granted that was "myth" to these people? It was an interesting thought. He would have to meditate upon it later, right now he had teaching to do. If Celeh was going to master herself it was only right to start with the beast within.
Not saying another word the dead Saiyan held his palms facing each other and began to focus his energy. This was no beam or ball of ki, it was inherently different. Even the feeling it gave off was different. Ninjin let it dissipate in his hands, not throwing it up into the sky just yet. She would not learn the moon ball technique by transforming into her Oozaru form just yet. Baby steps.
"Focus on the feeling of the energy from the Moon ball. It is different than ki, as if given to us by our Oozaru form, in order to trigger ourselves." Ninjin let out a chuckle. "Truthfully I'm not sure of it's official name. Moon ball has just always seemed appropriate."

Celeh watched as Ninjin began to gather energy between his palms. The energy she felt from that ball wasn't like the energy Ninjin normally put out. In fact, it was so different that she couldn't recognize it as his energy at all. Her eyes narrowed on the ball he was creating and she gritted her teeth. Whatever the energy that ball was exuding was, it brought up something primal and untamed inside the soldier. She took a deep breath and looked away as he dissipated the orb. The words he spoke made it sound impossible for her, though. Tap into an energy given to her by a form that she had only taken a handful of times in her life? It was like trying to tell her to tap into the power of his own energy after he blasted her with it a few times. The two may as well have been the same as far as the perspective was concerned to her.
Celeh moved her tail around in front of her and looked at the tip of it, as if mentally focusing and trying to ask it for answers. It was her tail that made the Oozaru form possible anyway, so perhaps the energy therein would be the secret. She kept her tail in front of her and placed a palm on either side of it, trying to focus energy there with her tail tip as a focal point for the energy from her hands. Perhaps her tail serving as a physical representation of the energy she needed would help her draw upon it more easily? Celeh did not know if it was possible to use logic and reasoning to tap into the power of a primal form. Still, she had to try.
Maybe it was a lingering feeling from the moon ball Ninjin had created, or maybe it was an odd tingling in her tail, but as the energy began to pool between her palms she got that feeling of a primal fury welling up inside of her again. Like a beast waiting to break out of its cage...

The solider copied his movements exactly and soon sure enough a sphere of energy began to grow between her hands as it had between his own. Ninjin smirked and nodded with pride. The crimson armored Saiyan's thoughts drifted to when he learned both the moon ball and his ability to control his Oozaru form. Vil had taught him as the bodyguard had been allowed special permissions due to his high rank and such important position. The memory made Ninjin smile. Heaven was amazing. Here he was without a worry in the world training a former Captain in his military how to control her bestial side, and as well to use that energy to draw that side out. It was one of the most potent weapons that a Saiyan had.
"Crush it and try again." He commanded. This would continue until he felt as if she had mastered the ability. They would not move on to her learning mastery over the form itself until she could control and understand the energy that brought it forth.
"Are aesthetics and savagery the only reasons that you detest the Oozaru form?" The time would also serve for Ninjin to better get to know Celeh. Who they were before had died. What would the future hold for who they were now? Whoever they were, they would be Saiyans with control over their primal sides.
