The ship was fast. It had blasted throughout the emptiness of space and within only a few days the pod would make its way into port at what was once a gladiatorial ludus. Itan had been here a number of times with Tundra, yet as he neared the dock the place was unfamiliar to him. It no longer held the ring of torment. The floors no longer coated in rust from the blood of slaves and the poor. Della had done wonders in making the place as remarkable as it could be. As it should be. It was no longer a place where the criminals came to die or the lower mentallity came to be made a spectacle of. As his pod landed it became abundantly clear that the place he had landed was a school. One remarkably resembling the crane academy. No, it was very different in appearance, yet the feeling of it reminded him of home. Of Saito and Sonya and Ethan. There remained a pit in his stomach. He hoped they were alright. He had questioned himself over the entire trip. Should he have stayed to help?
It was too late now. He was far too long past the point of no return, and now he stood awaiting the woman he had come for. The only person he had ever met to best Saito Kito in combat. The only other person Itan would consider calling master. Before docking he had sent out an urgent message, one that his computer claims to have been received. It read; URGENT, DOCKING REQUESTED BY SAITO KITO. IMMEDIATE ESCORT FROM ACADEMY OWNER REQUESTED
He had lied of course. Saito was not on board, but the name Itan Farth hardly held any worth here. At least Saito Kito would alert Della. If anyone but the genie should greet him he would certainly have a hard time explaining himself. The alien took a deep breath and waited for her to arrive, all the while his mind raced with thoughts of Earth. He had seen many an invasion. Akassa Hattori had the same lust and desire that Tundra had possessed. Each of his conquests had been a success until reaching Earth. Conri Lane, Kurosunai Muzai, and especially Saito Kito had repelled the wicked alien. Had they done it again? The saiyans had blocked transmission, it was very possible that the battle was over with no cause for alarm. Of course it was equally possible that the battle was over and the earthlings were dead.
God he hoped not.

Today was one of the days that No was quite glad that due to her nature as an artificial being she could more or less exert a fair amount of control over exactly how much she could ‘feel’ pulling back a lot of her own stress from recent events allowed her to work a lot more effectively which was something that was rather desperately needed of her as Della’s own stress levels were far beyond even hers and unfortunately Della lacked the ability to suppress emotion though she certainly did quite an amazing job of keeping her composure while she was outside of her office. No was one of the few people who the Headmistress allowed to see her genuine emotional state and it was from seeing that that No knew she needed to get the Oshtur back up and running as soon as possible.
Once the Oshtur was functional again then they could head to Earth to find out exactly what was going on there and hopefully lend aid if necessary, what little they DID know was rather grim unfortunately as it appeared very much like the Saiyans were making some sort of attack or occupation of Earth a rather difficult position for Della considering her friendship with the Saiyan Queen and her fierce protectiveness for the Earth and its people.
The repairs on the Oshtur were thankfully going both quite smoothly and quickly. It caused No a great deal of frustration that she had put off the repairs for so long due but the upgrades to the Academy and the Arena itself were deemed more important by both No and Della and as such the Oshtur had remained in its unfinished state awaiting repairs. Now however No could devote nearly her full attention to its repairs and upgrades and once she was done the ship would not only be able to make the trip to Earth with ease but it would do so in easily half the time, the only thing preventing No from devoting her FULL attention to the repairs was the fact that she needed to monitor the rest of the Academy, much of that work was delegated to basic system processes but it still needed attention and nobody was better for the job of monitoring the Academy’s systems than herself.
As No worked she felt a rather sudden flood of alters as an initially unidentified craft entered the Academy’s airspace its trajectory clearly indicating an intention to land here, the Academy while not possessing a particularly expansive port maintained one capable of housing a few ships, nothing compared to Alpha’s major spaceport or either of the Belegost ports, but enough to allow the Oshtur to remain on the Academy ground and to allow for a few visting ships, ideally less grandiose ships than the Oshtur itself. The ship arriving was thankfully a very basic ship, a pod something that would barely take up more room on the port than a person did. Initially No intended to send it a warning to turn back and make use of the Alpha port but the next alert indicated a message from the pod, a message requesting docking but more important than that it was WHO was making the request, Saito.
Saito was a good friend of Della’s one of the few people not directly apart of the Academy that knew quite a bit about the Headmistress, knew what she was, what she was capable of, and knew a fair bit of her past. No had learned a fair bit about Saito both from the man himself and from Della and the fact that Saito was HERE when the Earth was being occupied by Saiyans was worrying to say the least. But hopefully this was a GOOD thing, having Saito here would perhaps help calm Della somewhat, knowing that her friend was alive and well.
Without a second thought No cleared the pod for landing and sent commands to the docking bay to prepare for its arrival expediting the command to a main priority above even the Oshtur’s repairs, a brief lapse in work to ensure that Saito’s ship did not crash or have to fly around for another attempt was a VERY acceptable loss. Once the pod was properly Docked No would disperse herself from the Oshtur and reform her projection at the pod to greet Saito. Meanwhile a message would be on its way to Della’s commlink and office alerting her to the arrival of Saito’s pod, it would only be a matter of moments before the Headmistress would arrive depending on where exactly she was.

It wouldn't take long for someone to respond to his landing. The fact that he had been given clearance to land was a sign that someone knew he was here. By the time he had stretched and took a deep breath of the artificially cooled air, a familiar face appeared. No. Frankly he could think of no one better to see than the sympathetic AI. When last they met the two had bonded and Itan knew that anywhere No was, Della was certainly nearby. They had a moment before her arrival to catch up. He cleared his throat, trying not to come on too strong. Despite the positiion of their current relationship, he was unsure how things had been left off. Twisting the tip of his right foot into the metal flooring he let out a brief pained smile. Oh if they could have met again under different circumstance.
"No...I'm so glad to see you"
It was all he could think to say. How does one begin to impart the knowledge of a devastating attack. By the time Itan had left many of the buildings in central had already fallen. Kurosunai and Nasu had begun fighting. Zeke had left the battle field, and the idiot Noran had engaged the general. More importantly, Conri lane had begun his combat with Akassa Hattori, and the Crane Master was left in the middle with the Fuhrer. It was all a bit much, and repeating himself would be difficult. Emotionally he had to stay firm. Itan was not one to panic. He had been put in charge of espionage under Tundra for a reason. No matter how bad the situation became he had to remain cool. He knew that No would probably see through that. Her analytical skills were surpassed only by her recognition software. She was impressive.
______________________________________________________________________________
"So....uh...do you like uh...books?"
This was awkward. Why had Saito given him this job? While the other students were breaking their backs training, and while Saito and Della were off on another of their spars, Itan was left with the impossible task of...socializing. More importantly, his Master had failed to understand the concept of an AI. Della had clearly said on her way out that No was an artificial intelligence and not in fact a living being. Yet Saito's exact words had been to treat her like a guest. One day Itan would sit down to explain to his master that an AI was not a person and did not require a hot cup of coffee or a place to sit. The less than sociable alien looked around the room for a chance to escape their reality. Nothing would come to him.
She did look pretty though. He wondered if Della had done this intentionally. Would she even respond? Itan had taken a seet at the small oval table in their kitchen. It was a tight space with only three chairs surrounding the low to the floor dining table.

No’s projection flared into existence as Saito’s pod began to open itself revealing that inside the spherical space ship was not in fact the Master of the Crane Dojo and for a brief moment No worried that this had been some sort of complicated trick of some sort but getting a better look at the pilot revealed that while it was not Saito himself it was still a friendly face and once closely associated with him. Itan Farth. No’s expression quickly shifted from worry to joy at the sight of the man, where Della’s worries were stretched between the whole Earth on top of what friends she had on it and the ‘friend’ who might be occupying it No’s concerns were far more specific, while she certainly cared for the Earth what actually happened with it was not her concern. What was her concern were her friends, like Itan. In a flash No closed the distance between them and wrapped Itan in a brief hug. “It’s good to see you as well Itan, we got your transmission and I’ve been trying to get the Oshtur in working order so we could come sort things out. What’s going on?” No asked, it was clear in spite of his best efforts to steel his expression and tone that something was wrong and combined with the urgent nature of Itans attempts to get clearance to land in the Arena only had No all the more worried, part of her knew it was probably best to just wait for Della to arrive so that things only needed explaining once but if things were VERY bad it was probably best for her to know so they could break things to Della better. ------------ No knew full well she was probably being a touch rude at the moment, Della had suggested that she join her for a visit to Saito’s dojo so that she could get a firsthand look at the place and additionally as a means of testing her new projection device, a floating disk that would allow No a means of projecting herself while away from Della. They had met with Saito and of course she had stopped what she was doing to greet the man and speak with him briefly before Saito and Della went off to spar, but before that and after No was best described as ‘absent’ her projection mostly staring off into space as No’s attention was focused on the Oshtur. They had recently ‘obtained’ a rather impressive ship from a UNITY storehouse and No had put her full attention onto stripping it of any and all ways UNITY could interact with the ship remotely and replacing its systems with ones of her own design, thankfully the ship possessed a number of automated repair drones that once she had removed the main remote control functions tied to UNITY were now under her command, being directly connected to the Oshtur allowed her to make repairs even as far away from it as they were now. Shortly before the trip to the Crane School No had started up some larger repairs which was where her attention was currently focused. She COULD leave it to the drones to do automatically but she preferred a personal touch with things like this. An unfamiliar voice alerted No to return her attention to her projected form, it took her a moment to register who it was, when Della and Saito had decided to start up another sparing session it had been suggested by one of them(No had not noticed which) that she join one of Saito’s students. After Saito and Della had left she had evidently zoned out for a bit having gotten distracted by her work and judging by his tone it was clear she had made things a touch awkward by just standing there silently. “Oh sorry, I was a bit er… distracted” No said with a sheepish grin as she released her control on the drones allowing them to take over the repairs automatically for the time being “Yes, I usually read a few when I’m not working on a project. I’ve been reading a lot of Della’s library recently since it has a lot of books on subjects that pretty much don’t even exist anymore. I’ve also been thumbing through Ludvic Arkhem’s ‘Advanced Hyperspace Theory’ to get some ideas for our new ship. Also Ironman, I’ve been reading a lot of Ironman. Not sure how much I’m enjoying the ‘Superior Ironman ‘arc though.” She said with a small frown.

Embraced with a hug Itan instantly began to blush. It wasn't difficult to tell with his olive complexion, but the severity of the situation made it impossible to notice. He was already flush with the news of his planet, and it was unlikely No would pick up on his embarrassment. It was better that way. It was a connection he had truly needed. Snapping back into reality he took a step back putting his hand on her left arm. For a hologram she certainly felt as real as ever. The words were difficult to form. Usually so well spoken the author was at a loss. He had aided in the conquering of several dynasties at the hand of his previous master, yet it had been a long time since he felt the pain of it. Not since the loss of his own homeworld had he felt this terrible.
"The saiyans came prepared. A fleet of hundreds, but that wasn't the worst part. Akassa Hattori is as frightening as the stories say. More so. Even as Conri Lane, Fuhrer Buraddori, and my own Master Kito stood before her, she overpowered them all. I don't know how it ended, but nobody is returning my messages. At the very least the school is gone, but I fear the worst."
Letting go of her arm he took a few steps to his right, a small metal collumn blocking his path. His right arm ran up vertically and the alien hung his head. It was difficult to put into words, but he needed No to understand the severity of things. Akassa wasn't just strong, she was cunning. Her plan all along had been to draw out the strongest fighters and eliminate them. In the process a few common idiots had found their way to the battle field. While Saito and the King bowed, the others panicked. It made sense. None of them were diplomats. They couldn't be expected to understand the subtlety of war, or the avoiding of such. Saito had only bowed because the Fuhrer had done so. Left to his own devices it is very possible that the Crane would have done the same as Conri or Kurosunai. The true idiot had been the silver haired child. He had antagonized the Queen at every turn, with no regard for the consequences. Hopefully that one was dead.
"The planet was ill prepared. The fighters scrambled and acted recklessly. When I had left they were divided. Some of them focused only on combat, and others like my master still trying to hold onto the possibility of peace. I should have...no...There was nothing I could have done. Someone had to call for help. I only wish I could have gotten here sooner" _____________________________________________________________________________________________
It didn't seem possible, but it appeared as though Itan had something in common with No. The AI was not only capable of reading popular culture, but took pleasure in it. She read Ironman, whom happened to be his favorite of the Earth comic characters, and also a collection of ancient literature. While Itan never found much merit in reading non fiction from the past, he was drawn in by her mention of one book in particular.
"Arkhem revolutionized galactic travel. Humanity would have never caught up with the rest of us without it! Before reading that I hadn't thought the humans even capable of sequential thought"
He said with a bit of an arrogant laugh. He looked as human as any, but Itan was no more human than No. His resemblance ended physically. Having come from an advanced technological race he found much pride in showing up other races in their ability to mechanically and technologically advance. The shielding his master used was developed by the author and despite his being rather fragile in combat, his technological capapabilities made him an asset in many regards. Primarily he was surprised to have found common ground with the girl. He had expected her response to be programed and overall unengaging. That had not been the case. Taking a few steps towards the table he began to further prod the AI, taking a seat as he did so.
"Tell me, this ship of yours, are the Kinetic Barriers capable of taking a hit? My best days were behind a computer screen crunching the numbers on a cyclonic modulator."
To anyone else he was speaking gibberish. He suspected however that this AI would understand every word. Engaging.

No listened intently as Itan spoke, it was very disconcerting to hear the way Itan spoke seemingly struggling to find the right words to describe the situation where normally he was one of the best speakers No knew. Her expression held firm but solemn as Itan described the numbers that the Saiyan’s had arrived in, some part of her still holding the hope that this was somehow still some sort of rogue effort by the Saiyan people, certainly not something Akassa would ever sanction, and then the words she had been dreading were said. Itan described specifically that this was not only something sanctioned by the Queen of the Saiyan’s but that she had been physically present for the attack and most terrifying of all that she had entered combat with the King of Earth, Conri Lane the new Guardian of Earth, and most worrying of all, Saito. That she had been winning that battle was not necessarily unexpected, No was QUITE aware of the power that Akassa Hattori wielded from the battles that she and Della had both in the simulator and on Planet Vegeta itself. While No had not been allowed access to the Vegetan systems due to some prior issue with a rogue AI she had certainly been there to witness the battles in hologram form.
Della always gave those fights everything she had and while she certainly was capable of giving the Queen a good fight it was ultimately only because Akassa Hattori held back quite a bit of power in order to obtain that sort of fight. That three of Earths best were pitted against her and still incapable of standing against the FULL might of the Queen was not a surprise, while a lesser fighter would simply allow raw power to do all the work in a fight Akassa Hattori combined raw power with efficiency and skill, her various fights with Della perhaps even making her a more effective fighter due to Della’s preference for unconventional and unpredictable methods of attack, things that forced a quick and thorough response from Akassa.
There was however a glimmer of hope, Saito evidently had been seeking some form of peaceful resolution when last Itan had been on Earth so perhaps there was some hope for salvaging the situation, perhaps if they were lucky things would be resolved without any death. “I... this is more terrible than I could have imagined. We… we had hoped this was some sort of rogue attack by a unaffiliated group of Saiyan’s, ones not under Akassa’s command.” No said running a hand through her hair out of nervous habit “Della is… I don’t even know how she’s going to respond to this. Akassa is... was I suppose now, her FRIEND they sparred regularly shared their history with one another. Della doesn’t just tell anyone about her past she had to feel actual trust for Akassa. Saito and I might be the only other people who know as much about Della as she does.” No wasn’t even sure where she would begin to explain things to Della, a quick shift into the Academy’s security system gave her the information that she needed, Della was on the way at a rather quick pace more than likely to arrive within a minute or so.
No rolled her eyes in an exaggerated and clearly playful manner as Itan talked down the capabilities of humanity, while she was not human herself her personality was based upon that of a human woman and she had been developed by a Human, in many ways she considered herself apart of humanity “Bah, Arkhem might have developed some of the best tools for it but even without him it would have just taken someone else to develop a different method, Humans are like that if they want to do something they WILL get it done if it is at all possible, might just take a few more years without the right genius to push it along.” She said playfully waving off Itan’s words.
“The ship was originally built for luxury so it’s basic shielding was a bit wanting” No said rolling her eyes in obvious distaste “So I’ve had to replace a lot of things there and do a lot of rerouting on the power lines to account for the greater need for actual defense. On the plus side with as powerful as Del is she can throw a few blasts at the ship to test the barriers, I’ve got them to the point where they can take a volley of relatively low power blasts at least compared to what Della’s throwing around and since she’s hitting in the ballpark of a million power units taking even a fraction of that is a big win. I’ve put work on the shields on the back burner for now because of that, I’m working on the ships offensive capabilities now” No said with a hint of glee in her voice
“The ships got a GREAT design to be a grappler, I don’t have to worry about ion cannons with it since we can just have Del do the blasting, all I need to do is make sure they can’t escape, I’ll probably put in some basic cannons for when I’m piloting without her. Where did you do your work? I havent gotten to do any direct work outside of this ship because of reasons” No said too excited by the conversation to really realize just how vague her last statement had been.

Her words were of little comfort. Now a new area of concern arose. Itan had been certain that Della was an ally of Saito through the thickest of trials. If Della trusted Akassa as much as No was suggesting, perhaps she would remain neutral…or worse. Itan had not gotten to know Della as well as Saito, and the alien rarely put his faith in those around him. He came out of desperation and an understanding of their friendship. He hoped that would be enough. For what he couldn’t say. What would she even do for him? Della was powerful, but only just stronger than his own master now, and Saito had been a dwarf in comparison to Akassa’s power.
“She came herself. I had never seen the Queen in person but she addressed the city with a roar. It was no denying who she was. I did not recognize the two that stood at her side, though they too were fierce, Both easily more powerful than myself. I…”
He was out of words to describe the incident. He had left early on in the hopes of finding help in the reaches of space. None of his old contacts were available to him. All of them loyal, or fearful, to the defeated Lord Tundra. Saito should have killed the creature. Tundra’s bannermen were spineless cowards, but had Saito possessed Tundra’s retainers the Earth would certainly not have been taken. Akassa would have to stay on the moon for fear of losing it. Tundra’s forces had been massive, though word of his defeat had spread. They had been speaking long enough now that Itan expected Della to arrive. This only made him more nervous. How then would the genie respond to the news he brought?
For…reasons. Alright then.
This girl was certainly off. Yet her ability to converse with him at a reasonably intelligent level was rare. He wouldn’t squander it with probing questions. She had asked him about his education and he was more than happy to tell her. He chest inadvertently puffed out as he spoke of his alma matter.
“I was the last student of Professor Brolan back on Farth. The man was brilliant, far more so than I will ever be. He could take the vaguest concept and turn it into a reality. Our city council would come to him with the most complex idea’s and he always exceeded expectations. He developed a glass, at least that’s what he called it, capable of holding the matter of a dying star. He single handedly created the schematics for our agriculture division. I tasted a nelm for the first time because of him. All of our food had to be processed because of the lands degradation, but we were coming back.”
He would stop there, rather abruptly at that. The rest of the story was not as pleasant and he disliked telling it. Though it may have sounded like mockery, his next words were the only he could think of.
“I had to leave his side for…reasons”
Looking back at the girl with a faint smile he changed the subject.
“We were developing the necessary components for a planet wide physical shielding unit. One unlike any other planet has created thus far. A built in atmospheric compression that would protect the planet from itself, creating a neutral and pleasing weather. A physical barrier that was impassible sans the repellent shield components matching one of our trade or war vessels. I’ve never in my years seen a shield capable of such things. I would still very much like to develop it one day.”
