Late Summer Updates!
DBA staff is excited to announce a few updates to the site that mainly focus on giving members different ways to accumulate Zeni and hopefully give you some new exciting ways to expand your character!
First, an idea that our most lovably Icejin suggested to staff, The Crucible.
Since the beginning of Dragon Ball Awakening you have all be able to fight each other in various ways, whether it be meeting in person or finding each other through the Simulator 2.0. Like all other threads your matches result in one of two things in terms of reward, Zeni or PL, never both. The Crucible changes that, allowing you the potential to gain both as a result of the thread…but not without risk. When entering The Crucible against an opponent, the arena’s soon to be found in a major city on each planet, both participants must agree on the amount of Zeni they wish to bet. (In terms of boards, please post these in the “Training Threads” board, a sub board will be set up.) In these matches you are betting on your own skill, putting your zeni where your mouth is with a chance to double your wager. Once both parties are ready, the fight is on. Like all normal threads you may request Zeni or PL as a reward, but the winner will also receive the pot of zeni put up by both members.
Now who is going to willing lose a fight and give away zeni? This being said there are two ways to determine who has come out on top. The first is that the fighters decide. If you feel that your opponent has truly been besting you in combat and feel he or she should win, then by all means have it be so. However, if an agreement is not reached and the two of you decide this is turning into a stalemate, there is a second option. The fighters may contact staff and ask for a staff vote. In this situation all 5 Admins will read the thread as is stands and decide who they think deserves to win the fight. Once this is decided the decision is final and the members will be notified and given the chance to write the end of their fight with the determined player winning.
The above might be a bit confusing to some if they have never seen a thread ended this way. Thankfully, we have a thread to reference. If you want an example see the thread below, the final fight of the Galactic Tournament between Conri Lane and Frigid.(That Icejin is all over this update isn’t he?)

Note: Bets will be limited to 1,000 per fight per fighter.
Monarch Missions
With members now in control of most of the planets on DBA, many are interacting and visiting them for one reason or another. These players no doubt have their own soldiers and henchmen to get all the day to day stuff done, but what about those more specialized tasks that might take a little more than the normal individual can handle?
The mission system will be based on a planet to planet basis, each Monarch of the respective planet putting out monthly requests for help with various tasks. These missions are meant to do two things. One, give higher rewards (to be specified in the mission statement) and hopefully provide direction in terms of solo or group threads. In most cases the Monarch will set up the mission with a general description such as:
“In recent weeks the trade routes between Alpha Prime and Beta Major have suffered numerous raids from a group known as The Red Dawn. Lord Zasham requests aid from any willing to discover and put a stop to these raids, by any means necessary.” (Reward 1,000 extra PL – 3,500 word count minimum)
Or
“In the wake of the Saiyan takeover of Earth, multiple Saiyan barracks set up on Earth have been under attack by rebel forces. With so much to do in the wake of the invasion, Queen Akassa Hattori cannot attend to the matter herself. Any able bodies soldiers will be paid for their service to the crown in removing the rebels” (Reward of 500 Zeni – 1,200 word count minimum.)
Now these are just simple examples, but in these case if you were to take the job you can go about it however you please. You could kill the mentioned parties or perhaps just chase them off…or maybe even recruit them in the case of the Earth rebels. The choice is yours, but as long as the mission is fulfilled the reward will be gained. These missions will be posted on the 1st of each month and multiple people may do the same one. (Perhaps there are multiple occurrences or they could do it together if they choose to have some more fun with it.)
The actual details of these missions will be revealed when they are made available.
Note: Zero, this includes you if you want as well. Feel free to contact us with questions
Multiverse Crystal Shard
Hundreds of years ago, stories began to form about people disappearing. Some returned, moments later, claiming outrageous stories, while others were never seen again. But they had one common theme; a crystal shard. They are believed to be fragments of a mystical crystal ball, though its origin is debated amongst the few who believe it to be true. Some claim it once belong to a powerful fortuneteller, while others believed it once belonged to an elder god; few even insist it had belonged to a fabled God of Destruction from myths eons old. Regardless of its origins however, its powers, while mere fairy tale to the vast majority of the universe, are true.
They look no different than glass shards with a blue hue, though they are said have a noticeable glow, however their power, while uncontrollable, is astronomical. They transport one person to an entirely different universe, parallel to our own yet inherently unique. They sometimes even traverse time and space, though never within our own universe. One may fall from the sky; appear in your pocket, or even at the bottom of your rice bowl. While they only work on a single being, shards have been known to appear in small clusters. Few have even claimed that the trip boosted or weakened their power while they were gone. Perhaps you go to a moon where Tsuyo still rules, having killed the usurper Akassa, and he readies an army to invade Earth. Afterall, saiyans are saiyans; or are they in every universe?
Then again why not a universe where the Demon King Piccolo rules Earth with an iron fist, or the Kold family’s power and dominion is absolute. The possibilities are quite literally endless, as the multiverse is truly infinitesimal. At some point during your otherworldly adventure, the crystal, which is your tether to your own universe and time, will return you at its own discretion. Only moments will have passed since you left, regardless of how much time was spent in the other universe. The seemingly indestructible shard will then lose its glow before promptly disappearing into thin air as quickly as they had originally appeared [Note: You cannot use multiversal counterparts of player characters without their permission].
~
That’s right ladies and gents, for a nominal fee in the item shop; you could purchase a Multiverse Crystal. Once a month you can then post a thread, up to 4,000 words, detailing your character coming across one of the shards and the multiversal adventure sure to follow, for a sizeable boost to PL gains (cannot choose Zeni as a reward, as nothing from the universe returns with you). Of course if the word limit isn’t enough for you to properly tell your adventure you can break it into parts, each month posting a new chapter; though one must end before a new one can begin. If several people own Crystals, and are in close proximity to one another at the time said shards appear to them in character, they can even adventure together, though the word limit does not change. A separate subboard will be made within Training Threads for these unique adventures.
Referral Bonus
We have a fair amount of active members, but more wouldn’t really hurt, right? Advertising only does so much as most people that don’t know others on the site tend to fade quickly. However, when members bring in people they know there is that almost automatic sense of belonging due to pre existing friendships. If a member brings in others and they stay (for 90 days) we would like to reward our members for helping the site with fresh blood. As of today we are implementing a referral bonus for any member that brings in another that stays active for 90 days. If you are the one to provide the new member you will receive a nice 2,000 zeni reward for expanding the DBA community. The process is simple. When they make a char app have them list you as a referral lat the bottom or simply let us know by PM. If they are active 90 days later, bam 2k zeni. It’s that easy.
Not an update really, but perhaps even more important!
Dragon Ball Awakening has the words dragon ball in the title, yet the mystical orbs have yet to make an appearance. Staff has their plan of how and when to implement the wish giving spheres, but before we do there is something we want from you. Input on what the limits and such on wishes should be.
We have discussed many hours on the Dragon Ball topic and honestly, our decision was to see what the members wanted. Now, this does not mean we expect you to be like “I wish I had 4 million base PL!” or “I wish I was an Admin!” and think we will be okay with that. What we want here is a discussion in this thread about what we all think the wishes should allow or not allow. Do you want to wish for PL? How much? Can you wish for Zeni? How many lives can be wished back? Can you wish for a third arm? Let us hear everyone’s thoughts and talk this out as a community to see what we come up with.
So discuss away!
In terms of updates for now, that is it!
