Ok members here is the thing.
We have at our fingertips a creative and fun roleplaying site. It has all of the unique story that WODR had without all of ooc drama. Which is great. There is however a lurking problem that if not nipped immediately could cause the sites downfall.
Posting habits have gotten lazy. I know that everyone has their lives to attend to, however it is now to the point of absurdity that our minimum post standard (three days) is being used almost religiously, if not ignored and broken. This standard exists for a few reasons. So that stories can flow and move, so that everyone has a chance to post without being skipped, and so that no one gets held back for very long. However, in the case of my most recent thread, it means that each person will wait 3 days before posting. Meaning it could most literally be 9 days in between each of my posts. I wish I was being dramatic, but the numbers don't lie. After my post on November 2 it took until November the 13th before I was allowed to post. And I did so on the 14th.
Now I am not innocent of holding up a thread. In my own battle with Kemuri I have had to wait once or twice to post because of my personal life. And that is why the rule is in place. It is the exception, not the standard.

I don't want to sound like I am just complaining about not being able to post. I am very serious when I say that this is a site killer. The bug that causes us to wait longer...and longer to post. We need a snap of energy, of will. We need to take our deadlines more seriously than we have been. If we don't the saga's will continue to lag on.
First a suggestion to our admin team. Because in reality a lot of this is indirectly focused on you and your NPC's. It is hard to play so many characters at once. Others deserve your attention and you simply haven't the time to post every day with a new character.
-Perhaps it is time to audition members for NPC roles. That way the members can play an NPC (while being guided by the admin team on how to act or what the NPC would say).
-Although post length has been a topic of discussion in the past, perhaps it is not as important for an NPC to have an equal in length post to the member they are facing. For example, when I post longer it is due to backstory, foreshadowing, or pathos. We already know the backstory of the NPC's and so great detail need not go into that. Not to suggest that you completely ignore the NPC word count, but if it helps to ease your burden and allows you to post even slightly faster it may be worth it to trim down the count.
I wanted to get this out there now that my thread is completed in the hopes that future NPC threads are not as long. But this applies to members as well! Just because it isn't a saga doesn't mean we should abuse the 3 day rule. Site activity is a must, and our site could be booming with just a little more activity from the members we already have. I understand RL issue's, believe me I do. There will be times when we are lucky to get that 3 days out. But that should be the exception, not the constant.
Speech concluded.
